- So first and foremost, it's important that we get the gospel right. If you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you got born again.
- 00:06
- Because if we don't, there are people out there, including ourselves, who will be duped into believing that they are right with God.
- 00:13
- He chose her, called her. He made her a promise to protect her under the penance of his mighty wings.
- 00:20
- When in fact, they are at enmity with him. You're falling into apostasy. First, I mean,
- 00:25
- I obviously reject that I have fallen into apostasy or deconverted. You deny scripture as the ultimate foundation of life.
- 00:33
- You are an apostate. You believe the wrong gospel. It doesn't matter how sincere you are in your belief.
- 00:39
- Would you identify as Christian? Uh, yeah, yeah. You are merely sincerely wrong.
- 00:45
- God is real and God lives inside of me. There is an enormous number of people today who would identify as being
- 00:54
- Christian. I am a Christian. That is my faith. Those aren't Tennessee Christian values. I live in Tennessee.
- 01:01
- I am Christian. That's not what we stand for. Even now, I'll speak like my pastor and be like, can you just pray with me?
- 01:06
- Everybody believed they were Christian, thoroughly Christian. Why? They were baptized as infants, brought into the covenant.
- 01:13
- They were confirmed. They lived like devils. Regeneration was traded for a type of creedalism that was given authority by the religious leaders of the day.
- 01:23
- Despite the utter hypocrisy of professing to be a Christian, yet living in a way that is completely contradictory to almost everything the
- 01:30
- Bible teaches, the most popular Christian leaders of our day not only refuse to call these hypocritical professing
- 01:37
- Christians to repentance and true faith in Jesus Christ, but they even support and enable this kind of hypocrisy.
- 01:45
- Barack Obama is an ardent supporter of abortion and homosexuality, among many other things, yet listen to the kind of praise that Joel Osteen and T .D.
- 01:54
- Jakes give to Obama. Well, I would tell them that I've been with the president at the Easter breakfasts, not five feet away from him.
- 02:01
- Heard him talk about his faith, talk about redemption, talk about salvation. And, you know, I just believe in all my heart that he's a
- 02:08
- Christian. He says he is. Reverend Franklin Graham has made some comments on several occasions as recently as three weeks ago, really questioning the faith, if you will, of the president.
- 02:16
- He said the president has told him that he's a Christian. He basically said that going to church does not make you a
- 02:22
- Christian. I find it insulting. We didn't question the Christianity of President Bush when he said he accepted
- 02:28
- Christ, and I'm disappointed in Reverend Franklin Graham in that regard. But, of course,
- 02:33
- Franklin Graham is completely correct. A person who has truly accepted Christ is a person who has been born again by God and who will inevitably submit to all that the
- 02:44
- Bible teaches. And what are the fruits of repentance? A transformed life. That's the fruit of repentance.
- 02:49
- Unfortunately, countless professing Christians who believe they are right with God and are going to heaven are greatly deceived.
- 02:57
- There are many lies from Satan that are deceiving these professing Christians. Let's take a look at five of them.
- 03:04
- Number five. Many professing Christians believe they are saved simply because they prayed a prayer one time in their life.
- 03:11
- And I'm looking forward to my new life with you. Amen. Well, congratulations. You have just become part of the family of God.
- 03:20
- At our church, we have people repeat a prayer. It's just a means of allowing them to express their heart to God so that they can have a moment that they look back on and say,
- 03:27
- I place my trust in Christ. If you just raise your hand right now in a moment of receptivity and say, I believe or I receive the forgiveness of Jesus, you are forgiven forever.
- 03:36
- And I want to say to you, sir, to you, ma 'am, congratulations. And thank you for making the most important decision of your life.
- 03:43
- If you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you got born again. Oftentimes, this sinner's prayer seems to be a means through which a church can boast about how many conversions it has achieved.
- 03:55
- It's called kingdom multiplication. It's what Elevation Church is all about. And over 500 people have given their lives to Jesus for the first time in this church in the last five months.
- 04:06
- That's over 100 per month. However, the sinner's prayer is deceiving countless
- 04:11
- Christians into believing they are saved when they are not, because this is simply not at all what the
- 04:16
- Bible teaches about salvation. I'll tell you, that sinner's prayer has sent more people to hell than anything on the face of the earth.
- 04:22
- You say, how can you say such a thing? Go with me to scripture and show me, please. I would love you to stand up and tell me where anyone evangelized that way.
- 04:30
- The scripture does not say that Jesus Christ came to the nation of Israel and said that the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand.
- 04:37
- Now, who would like to ask me into their heart? I see that hand. It's not what it says.
- 04:42
- He said, repent and believe the gospel. Our men today are trusting in the fact that at least one time in their life, they prayed a prayer and someone told them they were saved because they were sincere enough.
- 04:55
- And so in their salvation, if you ask them, are you saved? They do not say, yes, I am because I'm looking unto
- 05:02
- Jesus and there is mighty evidence giving me assurance of being born again. No, they say one time in my life,
- 05:09
- I prayed a prayer and they live like devils, but they prayed a prayer and some of them.
- 05:17
- Number four, many professing Christians are victims of the prosperity gospel, which teaches them to come to Christ because of what they can get from Christ, not because they are sinners who deserve to be punished with hell.
- 05:30
- You know, you've been criticized for church light. Yeah, that's right. For a cotton candy message.
- 05:35
- Do you feel like you're cheating people by not telling them about the hell part?
- 05:42
- No, no, I really don't because it's a different approach. You know, it's not hellfire and brimstone, but I say most people are beaten down enough by life.
- 05:51
- They already feel guilty enough. They're not doing what they should do, raising their kids or that, you know, we can all find reasons. So I want them to come to Lakewood or our meetings and be lifted up to say, you know what?
- 06:00
- I may not be perfect, but I'm moving forward. I'm doing better. And I think that motivates you to do better.
- 06:05
- I started giving on that level so that God would owe me. Oh, y 'all don't hear what I'm saying. You can't handle that.
- 06:11
- I started giving on the level where I put God in debt and God said, I'll owe no man. I started giving on the money that I wanted to make.
- 06:19
- I started giving on a deal that hadn't closed yet. And that God had to open up the windows of heaven and pull me out of blessing because he wasn't going to be in debt to me.
- 06:28
- When you give, you get a receipt in heaven that when you have a need, you can then go with your receipt and say, you see
- 06:37
- God, I have got my receipt from my sewing and now I have a need and I'm cashing in my receipt.
- 06:47
- The prosperity gospel comes in many different shapes and sizes, but it is destructive because what people need is salvation from sin.
- 06:55
- And if they are coming to God for blessings rather than in repentance and faith, then they have not truly understood and believed in the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 07:05
- You better believe the topic was not the gospel. The topic was not, you know, come and have your sins forgiven.
- 07:11
- Come and repent and believe. No, you know what it was. Come get your blessing. Come get your miracle.
- 07:18
- Come get your deliverance. And the list goes on and on. These are the things that thousands flock to.
- 07:25
- Number three, many professing Christians refuse to accept all that the Bible teaches.
- 07:30
- And this oftentimes manifests itself most clearly in progressive Christians who support behaviors and policies that are completely contradictory to God's clear commands in the
- 07:40
- Bible. I don't think that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. And therefore, I also don't think all of the morality that we find in the pages of the
- 07:48
- Bible is worthy of being followed. And so we have two different starting places for where we base our morality.
- 07:55
- God is gay. God is a lesbian. God is trans. God is gender non -binary.
- 08:00
- God is straight. God is cisgender. God is black. God is white. God is
- 08:06
- Middle Eastern. God is Asian. God is differently abled mentally and physically.
- 08:12
- God is able -bodied. God is you. And you are
- 08:17
- God because you are a reflection of God's divine image. I just want to say that if Jesus were alive, what would he be doing?
- 08:26
- Well, he'd probably be accepting and loving people how they're made. And I always say this, and it's really the truth.
- 08:32
- If being 4 '11'' was a sin, what would I do? Well, I could wear heels and I could add a wig. You mean being short like you are?
- 08:38
- Yeah. I'm 4 '11. What would I do if that was a sin? I couldn't do anything about it because that's the way God made me. And I do make no mistake.
- 08:44
- I am a Christian. I believe in God. And I don't believe he makes mistakes. So I believe that being gay is not a sin.
- 08:50
- And in fact, that's how you're made. However, as Christians who are under God's authority as God has revealed himself in the
- 08:57
- Bible, we simply do not have the option to call something good that God clearly calls sin.
- 09:03
- And the most loving thing we can do is confront these progressive Christians with the fact that they have not yet truly submitted to God and are not yet saved.
- 09:12
- You say, well, our society cultivates tolerance and you're giving hate speech.
- 09:17
- What I'm saying is not hate speech. What the Democratic Party is saying is hate speech because they must hate the homosexuals if they will allow them to go the direction they're going, affirm that, knowing that it'll take them to hell.
- 09:30
- That's hate speech. This is love speech. You either warn them or you affirm them. And Romans 1 warns them.
- 09:37
- And any faithful Christian warns, this is dangerous. This is deadly. It's better to warn them than to affirm them.
- 09:44
- You might be the nice guy to affirm them, but that's not love speech. That's hate speech. Number two, many professing
- 09:50
- Christians are hypocrites who exhibit no fruit of being born again. The Bible is clear that although obedience to the
- 09:57
- Bible is certainly not what saves anyone, all Christians who have true faith in Jesus Christ have been born again by God and will want to obey all that the
- 10:07
- Bible teaches. Let's imagine that I show up late and I run up here on the platform and all the leaders are angry with me.
- 10:14
- I said, brother Paul, don't you appreciate the fact you're giving the opportunity to speak here and you come late? And I said, brothers, you have to forgive me.
- 10:19
- Well, why? Well, I was out here on the highway and I was driving and I had a flat tire and I got out to change the tire.
- 10:24
- And when I was changing the tire, the lug nut fell off and I wasn't paying attention that I was on the highway and I ran out and I grabbed the lug nut.
- 10:31
- And as soon as I picked it up in the middle of the highway, I stood up and there was a 30 ton logging truck going 120 miles an hour, about 10 yards in front of me.
- 10:37
- And it ran me over. And that's why I'm late. Now, there would only be two logic. I know no one studies logic anymore, but there would only be two logical conclusions.
- 10:47
- One, I'm a liar or two. I'm a madman. You would say, brother Paul, it's absolutely absurd.
- 10:52
- It is impossible, brother Paul, to have an encounter with something as large as a logging truck and not be changed.
- 11:00
- And then my question would be to you, what is larger, a logging truck or God? How is it that so many people today profess to have had an encounter with Jesus Christ and yet they are not permanently changed?
- 11:14
- The most visible demonstration of this is the sexual immorality that is rampant among professing
- 11:20
- Christians today. Professing Christians who have absolutely no shame in dressing provocatively, in fornication, in watching inappropriate movies and videos and so on.
- 11:30
- Good night, everyone. Stay super freaky. Have a great. This kind of hypocrisy from professing
- 11:44
- Christians bring shame upon the name of Jesus Christ and even non -Christians like Andrew Tate are calling them out.
- 11:51
- Who's not a Christian? You go to Christian nations and everyone says they're a Christian. Look how they live their lives. Go into the average church.
- 11:57
- Is anyone actually fearful of God? Anybody? No. The girls are out on Saturday night drinking and they turn up to church because their parents made them.
- 12:04
- There's no substance to the religion. Again, the point isn't that obedience to God saves us.
- 12:09
- The point is that all Christians who are truly born again will live transformed lives of obedience to God as a result of their faith in Jesus.
- 12:19
- Number one, many professing Christians believe in a Jesus who is not the true Jesus of the
- 12:24
- Bible. For example, some professing Christians do not believe the doctrine of the Trinity, despite the
- 12:30
- Bible's clear teachings that God is a Trinity and that Jesus is fully God. I am there.
- 12:35
- I'm not crazy about the word persons. And this is most people who know me know that that is really my doctrinal statement is no different from yours, except for the word manifestation to manifest instead of persons, which you described as modalists.
- 12:48
- And I described as Pauline. I'll tell you this is how you wake up to the Trinitarian falsehood. This is how you wake up to it.
- 12:54
- Only use words that are in the Bible. Where do you even see the word Trinity in the Bible? That is a man -made word because it's a man -made false doctrine.
- 13:02
- And certainly they did not disagree on who God is, who we're worshiping, whether we're worshiping one person that acts like three persons or whether we're worshiping one
- 13:09
- God as manifested himself in three persons. That is a heaven and hell issue in the sense that it defines not only the object of worship, but the gospel is a
- 13:19
- Trinitarian gospel. It is grounded in the father's decree is accomplished by the son. It is applied by the spirit.
- 13:24
- It can only be understood, for example, in regards to the intercessory work of the son. If the son is a distinct person from the father, you can't intercede before yourself.
- 13:33
- So these are extremely important issues and cannot be put into just an area. Well, Peter and Paul disagreed with each other, so we can disagree too.
- 13:40
- Other professing Christians have a fundamentally problematic view of Jesus's atonement and what exactly
- 13:46
- Jesus accomplished on the cross, whether Jesus actually satisfied and took on God's wrath on the cross.
- 13:53
- Hey, God is less grumpy because of Jesus atonement theory in 17 seconds. And what we end up with is a story that says
- 13:59
- God's perfect. He's holy and he's perfect. You're not. So God has to kill you is to kill you.
- 14:04
- He needs his pound of flesh to in the name of his justice. And so he's going to kill you because he's angry at you, but instead he's going to kill
- 14:12
- Jesus and he takes out his anger on Jesus. And then he allows you after you die to go to the good place and not the bad place.
- 14:19
- You can sing forever the praises of the God who didn't kill you. I guess done. Now, some of you, I'm creating a caricature, but for some of us, you might think like, yeah, isn't that the story of Christianity?
- 14:29
- Isn't that what Christians believe? The God who is mollified by throwing the virgin in the volcano or the
- 14:36
- God who is mollified by his son being nailed to a tree is not the Abba of Jesus. I'm just saying
- 14:42
- God did not say I need a pound of flesh from those people, but their pounds of flesh aren't good enough, holy enough, heavy enough or whatever.
- 14:51
- I need Jesus. I need a divine pound of flesh. I mean, I had this image of God going like, okay, listen, this guy's worthy of death.
- 14:57
- I don't care. I just got to kill somebody out there. And Jesus goes like, you can kill me. And he goes, oh, okay. As long as I get to kill somebody. And the obvious question is like, why does
- 15:04
- God need to kill anybody in order to forgive? Well, yeah, that basically is what
- 15:09
- Christians believe. And it basically is what the Bible teaches about atonement. This is not at all a secondary or peripheral issue, but rather it goes to the very heart of what the gospel is and what
- 15:21
- Jesus actually accomplished on the cross. Did God kill Jesus? Yes.
- 15:26
- Now think about what's being said. This God covers sin. This is not the language of a righteous judge.
- 15:34
- This is the language that we use with regard to a corrupt one. Hold it. You tell me God is righteous.
- 15:39
- And yet you tell me God covers sin. God forgives all types and kinds of sin.
- 15:45
- And yet the guilty will not go unpunished. How can this be? It's an absolute impossibility.
- 15:51
- My dear friend, if you do not understand this, you do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- 15:57
- And yet I rarely hear this preached. I rarely hear anyone when they are testifying on the street speak of this.
- 16:04
- Justification means not only that God declares you to be right with him, but that he treats you as right with him.
- 16:13
- Never forget that word. So now what? How does that apply to the cross on the cross? Our sins, the sins of God's people were imputed to the son and he was legally declared guilty before God and he was treated as guilty in the place of his people.
- 16:33
- Now it was an imputed guilt, but it was a real guilt does not diminish the suffering. He was declared before the very bar of his father to be guilty and from that moment treated as guilty.
- 16:45
- Yet on the cross, on the cross, the sin imputed to Christ was exposed before God and the host of heaven.
- 16:52
- He was placarded before men and made a spectacle to angels and devils alike. The transgressions he bore were not forgiven him and the sins he carried were not covered.
- 17:01
- If man is counted blessed because iniquity is not imputed to him, then Christ was cursed beyond measure because the iniquity of us all was thrown down on his head.
- 17:11
- When the gospel is preached, we don't hear these things. Thank you so much for watching. If you like these videos and want to help support this channel, the best way to do it is to just watch these videos until the end and click the subscribe button.
