Jews Truly truly. I say to you the Son of Man can do nothing from himself

Unless it is something he sees the father doing For whatever the father does these things the son does also

Also does in the same manner For the father loves the son and shows him all things that he himself is doing and The father will show him greater works than these

So that you will marvel For just as the father Raises the dead and gives them life

Father and As we transition last week We clearly saw that Jesus does whatever he sees the

Father doing and we included that this must be speaking about his omnipresence, right?

The omnipresence speaking of the presence of God is everywhere at the same time at the same time

We understand from Christology the two natures of Christ, right? The the divine nature and the human nature concerning Christ that that Jesus and his divine

Father does We saw this clearly in these two paragraphs We're dealing with One was a physical resurrection of the body from the dead.

The other we saw last week we walked through was speaking about regeneration Regeneration takes place between in between the first and the second

Advent so advent here speaking about the comings of Jesus First coming

Jesus comes as an infant grows to a man That's his first advent second advent.

Jesus comes at the end of days When Jesus returns for the second time he will judge the living and the dead and After that event happens there will be no more

Regeneration Right when Jesus comes for the second time There's not going to be second chances for people to be regenerated and brought into the church

No more being awakened from spiritual death That happens between first and second advent

Regeneration is the resurrection of the spiritual dead those who are spiritually dead.

Remember we saw last week. They cannot Live for God and they cannot respond to the call of God in the gospel

Me and you we can go out and preach and preach and preach all day long if God does not awaken them

They can't respond the only way that the spiritual dead can respond is if like our text says

They hear the voice of the Son of God and God grants to them regeneration somehow as I argue when witnessing or preaching and Proclamation are speaking forth gospel

They hear the voice of Jesus if they only hear my voice, which isn't a great voice

Spirit of God, so this voice of Jesus Accompanies the Spirit of God being placed in them and God giving them faith to believe in granting to them repentance

So we're gonna look at some text real quick that shows physical and spiritual life given to us by God First we'll see we receive physical life from God, and I'm sure there's no theologian that would argue with this

And that life was the light of men We also receive spiritual life from God John 3 16 for God So loved the world that he gave his only begotten

Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

He has given all judgment All judgment to the son we see this in verse 22 of our text

For not even the father jesus speaking not even the father judges anyone But has given all judgment to the son

Now if you will real quickly turn a couple pages in your bible to chapter 3

We're going to look at verses 17 through 20 So chapter 5 tells us that all judgment has been given to the son listen to Chapter john 3 17 through 20

For god did not send the son into the world to judge the world

Seems to be a little apparent contradiction, huh? Let's finish reading But that the world might be saved through him

He who believes in him is not judged He who does not believe has already been been judged already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of god

And this is the judgment that light has come into the world And men love darkness rather than light for their deeds were evil

For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come into the light least his deeds

Be exposed What we have here Even in judgment speaking of the first Second advent the first at the first advent god did not send his son into the world to judge the world

But rather that through him the world will be saved And at the second advent when jesus comes he's coming to judge the world

Right now in between the first and second advent those who do not believe are already judged

If you don't believe you're judged They are already condemned

They're already condemned Why do you witness because the world is judged they're condemned

They're spiritually dead They are condemned because of the light

Which is jesus has come into the world because he has come into the world all men

Are condemned and judged if they do not believe hence why we must preach

The spiritual dead refuse to believe because they love evil and hate the light

Their their flesh is driven their body their body the things that they do.

It's driven by their imagination By the things they can think of I've said this many times my hand can't reach out to grab my

My pen that I preach with unless my mind tells my hand to grab the pen My body is driven by my mind

So too with the spiritual dead that's why they do these these devilish acts. It's coming from their mind

So what I want to do is something that I did last week I want to look at verse 22 of john and verse 22 of john chapter 5

With verses 27 28 and 29. I mentioned last week that these two paragraphs.

So in in paragraph 1 18 through 24 Jesus says some things but in par in the second paragraph from verses 25 through 32, he he kind of Opens what he said in the first paragraph up.

He kind of explains it so It would be hard to preach this paragraph without mentioning the order in which the next paragraph highlights what he's saying

So read with me verse 22, then we'll skip to 27 and read through 29 For not even the father judges anyone

But has given all judgment to the son verse 27 And he gave him authority to execute judgment

Because he is the son of man ladies and gentlemen, that's messianic title Do not marvel at this for an hour is coming

In which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice And will come forth those who did good deeds to the resurrection of life

And those who did evil deeds to the resurrection of judgment So too this verse

This is speaking of second advent This is speaking of the very last day in time and space

Right when jesus comes and wraps everything in a bow Usher ushering in The consummation of the kingdom it has already been inaugurated it's begun

And when he comes again, it will be consummated the last day when jesus returns to judge the living and the dead matthew 25

Gives us a beautiful picture of this event Well beautiful for some

Notice again son of man messianic, but when the son of man comes and the glory of all the angels

With him then he will sit on his glorious throne And all the nations will be gathered before him

And he will separate them from one another as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats

And he will put the sheep on the on his right and the goats on the left

Then the king will say to those on his right come you who are blessed of my father

Inherit the kingdom which has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink

Then the righteous will answer him saying lord When do we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you something

I say to you To the extent That you did it for one of my one of these brothers of mine even to the least of these of them

Accursed ones into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink

And they themselves will answer also answer and saying lord When did we see you hungry or thirsty or stranger or naked or sick or in prison?

I say to you to the extent that you did not Do it to one of the least of these you did not do it to me

And these will go away into an eternal punishment but the righteous

To eternal life notice both are eternal. I want you to notice that both groups of people sheeps and goats

Are raised from the dead they're they're risen from the dead And in these two groups are housed everyone

Who has ever lived or ever will live past present future? If god has breathed breath into your nostrils, he has given you life you will

Be in this resurrection of the dead On the last day there will be only two groups of people

The sheep and the goats It won't be separated from the rich or the poor from the black and the white

By ethnicities But by sheep and goats You won't be with your political party

You will either be a sheep or you will be a goat. You will either be

Someone who is a christian who has received spiritual life from god or you will be a rebel in spiritual death

The sheep are those who have been given spiritual life and the goats are those who remain spiritually dead

And listen the only reason that the sheep are able to perform these deeds Right these days that it names off.

The only reason they are able to perform these deeds It's because god gave them

His spirit right we read that in ezekiel. He gives us his spirit that causes us to obey him

A spirit by which we're able to love our neighbor Now i'm not saying that the goats the spiritual dead cannot love their neighbor but What i'm saying is is even in their good deeds.

It's sinful and it's filthy Because it's outside of christ Their good deeds are sinful and filthy because it's outside of christ the scripture talks about Your greatest day your best deeds are filthy rags

Right. It's like taking a finding a leopard man You know a man covered in leprosy taking a a white towel and throwing it over him

And petting him letting that those sores absorb into that towel and then as it dries ripping the towel off the leopard man

And that towel of disease you're holding up to god saying i've done this for you

That's what it's like to him your greatest deed outside of christ And your greatest deed if you're spiritually dead could be greater than my greatest deed as a spiritual living

And it's sinful and it will not be accepted to god That's the difference

I believe their good deeds are driven by the imagination carried out in their flesh that even their

Like we christians struggle with this right doing a good deed for the right reason

Right For for unselfish motive unmotivated reason it's hard for us to perform these things

The deeds have to be the the act of the deed has to be

Understood in what's been given to them by god in christ First john chapter 3 verse 2 says this beloved

Now we are children of god And it has not been manifested as yet what we will be

Speaking of that that day when jesus comes back and we're resurrected We know that when he is manifested we will be like him

Because we will see him as he is What we do know

Is that the bodies that we have? That the bodies that we will have excuse me that the bodies that we will have

When he comes will be fit for eternity The bodies that we have now are fit for earth.

They're not fit for eternity. They're fit for earth All right, the bodies that we have now are from the earth and to the earth.

They will return Our resurrected bodies both the sheep and the goats will be fit for eternity that is set before them

So those who are raised that are given that have been given spiritual life the sheep their body is going to be

Prepared for an eternity with god in his presence in heaven that's come to earth

Right your body will be prepared to be in the presence of god

Right the the same kind of body jesus has that's the kind of body that you will have it will be a body prepared for an eternity with the father in heaven

While the body that that is given to the goats Will be a body that is prepared for an eternity to spend with satan and his angels in hell

That body will be a body that can absorb the that can take this punishment

With without decay without dying without ceasing to exist

See your human body now cannot be in the presence of god flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of god

Right being with the father in heaven. We would we would melt like fervent heat

We would melt and and just like the body that we have now if you throw this body in fire, what happens ash?

But we're going to be given a body who are spiritually alive to be with christ in heaven That will be able to absorb the father

We'll be able to live with the father with jesus with god While The goats will be able to suffer eternal punishment in hell with the devil and his angels

We will be given a body fit for the purpose that it was set for On the last day when jesus returns and the dead are arisen

We will be risen when we hear the voice of jesus

And as we transition this is a wonderful parallel between both resurrections

Both resurrections spiritual resurrection and the physical resurrection take place through hearing the voice of the son of god

Right ain't that what we saw last week? verse 25 truly

I say to you this is speaking of Of the spiritual resurrection truly truly I say to you an hour is coming and now is

Notice the end now is so this is something that's taking place then and continuing to take place when the

Dead will hear the voice of the son of god and those who hear will live That's spiritual resurrection

And then verse 28 do not marvel at this for an hour is coming In which all who are in the tombs will hear the voice will hear his voice

So both resurrections take place by hearing the voice of the son of god point number four

He receives honor just as the father so this is taken from verses 22 to through 24 verses 22 through 24 listen

Now from these verses jesus reveals to us why Judgment has been given to him

So so why has judgment been given to jesus? It has been given to him so that all will honor him as they honor the father.

That's what it says All right Coming off the heels of verse 22 even as the even the father judge

For for not even the father judges anyone but has given all judgment to the son So that all will honor the son even as they honor the father

So there's a particular reason why jesus has been given The the right for judgment so that all will honor him

The father wants us To honor the son the father wants the son to receive honor that he receives

Jesus clearly lays this out For us that we are to honor him the son

The way that we honor the father You know y 'all might have heard me mention this recently

That this is why there's no such thing as a godly jew Don't run out the building yet.

Let me explain This is why there's no such thing as a godly jew And by that I mean practicing jews someone who is practicing judaism

Jews do not honor the son And since they do not honor the son

This is the antichrist The one who denies the father and the son

Does not have the father the one who confesses the son Has the father if you deny the son you deny the father

If you just if you say that jesus is not the christ you are Antichrist Practice in jews deny that jesus is the christ

You cannot listen to me ladies gentlemen and people that might be watching you cannot be a godly jew and an

Antichrist at the same time. You cannot deny the son And follow god at the same time

This is why muslims are antichrists Any form of other religion

Whether even if it's sub sub -christian cults mormonism Jehovah's witnesses one is pentecostalism

And I think the text is clear the best way for us to honor the father

Now in verse 24, we have jesus bearing witness verses 23 through 24, we have jesus bearing witness

About the father. So before we read 30 and 32, let's first just read 20 through 20 22 through 24

All throughout the gospel all throughout this gospel the witness of john speaking of jesus is

You cannot have one without the other You cannot have the father without jesus and you cannot have jesus without the father

And so too I would add the third person of the trinity of the holy spirit John 3 36 we read a piece of this earlier

He who believes in the son has eternal life But he who does not obey the son will not see life but the wrath of god abides on him

So here we have you have to believe in the son again verse 24 of john chapter 5 also

It says and he does not come into judgment But has passed out of out of death into life so Eternal life means that you do not come into judgment, but you pass out of judgment into life jesus speaking with martha we'll see this in Later on in the chapters chapter 11

Right. We we know that the so that sin shall die for the wages of sin is death that when you die you are

Receiving a paycheck for the life that you live. Why do we die? Because we sin

We die because we sin the wages of sin is death Everyone that has ever lived will die but this is telling us that even though we die

Yet shall we live that that when we die we Whoever believes has eternal life and we when we

And does not come into judgment. Listen, but passed out of death into life

Ladies and gentlemen christians, even though our bodies may cease to Be able to have that life in us that god has given us.

We don't die. We don't come into judgment We pass from life from death to life

This is basically in an already and not yet the removal of the sting of death christians pass out of judgment

Remember and when jesus comes again, there goes that saying death. Where is your victory?

It's taken place now if a christian dies They Have passed out of judgment into life.
