- A common argument that you hear when it comes to the issue of abortion is an issue of choice.
- 01:25
- Now, we were trying to, this week, apply logic to different social issues, this week being the issue of abortion.
- 01:33
- And what we end up noticing is the fact that when we talk about a choice that a woman has to write, to do whatever she wants with her own body, we realize there's another person, the person who's in the womb.
- 01:49
- So essentially, the pro -choice argument is an argument of ownership.
- 01:55
- The woman owns her body and even the child within her womb, and therefore she should have the right to do whatever she wants with her own body.
- 02:05
- It's an ownership issue. However, let's apply a little critical thinking and say, does one human being have the right to own another?
- 02:16
- You know, there was a different time in our country where that was argued. It was the issue of slavery. And we unanimously recognize the fact that now it was wrong the way it was done in America, where people had ownership.
- 02:32
- Now, we think about that and say, well, what is the difference between saying that this is my property referring to a slave or saying this is my body referring to a baby?
- 02:44
- The arguments are the same. So to say that you're against slavery because of ownership, but to say you're for abortion is hypocritical.
