Doing the the VBS song at the beginning of churches if there wasn't enough kids here, then it would just be Just a song that's being heard by us.
00:07
And anyway, so I'm super thankful that we get to have this opportunity now to do this so what we'll go ahead and do is
00:16
We'll go ahead and pray. We're gonna be in Ruth chapter 2 or Ruth chapter 3. Excuse me
00:21
We are an axe chapter 2 to doing our call to worship will be an axe chapter 3 Verses 6 through 12 for today so you can start turning that way right now
00:29
We will go ahead and pray to start off with though Lord God, I I just pray
00:40
Just out of gratitude Lord and thankfulness for fellowship God fellowship in your body fellowship to be able to call each other brothers and sisters and love on one another and to Be a part of something that we are so undeserving of Lord that comes about through Justification what those kids just look through and what they just learned and heard
01:02
Lord God It's through this that that that we are able to be reunited with with our brother
01:10
Dan and any other saint that has passed away Lord, and it's only to our gain. And so I just thank you for this.
01:17
I Praise you for the opportunity that this church has been able to have in VBS this week
01:23
And Lord, I just pray that this time right now would just be for your glory your praise and your worship
01:28
We just say this in your name. Amen As I said Ruth chapter 6 or Ruth chapter 3,
01:37
I'm sorry, it's been a long week guys. It's been a long week There is no six chapters in Ruth.
01:43
We are about to start in Samuel right there for a moment Ruth chapter 3 verses 6 through 12 is where we're going to be at.
01:52
Maybe is where we're going to be at So, let's just read
01:59
For a moment versus maybe let's read verse 1 to 5 Just to remind ourselves of that context is it's so important for us to do every single time we open up God's Word Verses 1 through 5 says then
02:12
Naomi her mother -in -law said to her this is Naomi speaking to Ruth my daughter
02:17
Shall I not seek security for you? Shall I not seek a Redeemer a family kinsman a marriage for you?
02:25
That it may be well with you And now it is not Boaz is not
02:30
Boaz our kinsman our family Redeemer our near relative Who with whose made you were you were?
02:37
Behold he winnows barley at the threshing floor tonight Wash yourself therefore and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes and go down to the threshing floor but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking and it shall be
02:59
When he lies down that you shall notice the place where he lies and you shall go and uncover his feet and lie down then he will tell you what you shall do and she said to her all that you say
03:16
I Will do all the things that Naomi has told Ruth Ruth is going to do
03:24
Let us free now our text verses 6 through 12 for today. It says and so She went down to the threshing floor and did according to all that her mother -in -law had commanded her
03:38
When Boaz had eaten and drunk and his heart was merry he went to lie down at the end of the heap of the grain and she came secretly and uncovered his feet and lay down and it happened in the middle of the night that the man was startled and bent forward and behold a woman was lying at his feet and he said who are you and She answered
04:03
I am Ruth your maid so spread you are covering some of your Translations might say and spread your wing your wings over your maid
04:14
For you are a close relative. You are a redeemer of kinsmen
04:20
Then he said may you be blessed of The Lord my daughter you have shown your last kindness to be better Than the first by not going after young men whether rich or poor and now my daughter do not fear
04:37
I will do for you. Whatever you ask for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of excellence
04:46
And now it is true. I am a close relative however
04:52
There is a relative closer than I Let us pray over this text
04:59
Lord God, I I thank you for the privilege. It is to open up your word To to study who you are to think through these mysteries of your sovereignty
05:12
Lord, I thank you for that God, I would pray that this time might be a time where we are able to Think thoroughly through these kind of things that we are able to put on our most important thinking on Your attributes
05:35
God and so Lord We just pray that you would continue to cover us with your mercy That we continue to be at your feet that we be ready for the harvest
05:43
That is yet to come Lord and we just say these things in your holy name Jesus Christ.
05:49
Amen so we're gonna look here at verses 6 through 12 as I've already said and there's some some some
05:56
Stuff in here as we talked last week That is quite peculiar that that to us seems kind of strange in a way that this is playing out
06:04
This again, this is not sexually in more immoral things that are taking place here
06:10
It's not as if Boaz and Ruth are committing a sexual sinful act in this way we see as we talked about last week that the purpose of these things is
06:22
Multi -faceted that it's one for the the purpose of betrothal one for the purpose of being engaged one for that way
06:30
That's going to bring about our physical redemption through Jesus Christ As he's going to be the seed or the offspring of this relationship as we'll see further on in the book
06:40
But we would also see that this is some really sweet Wonderful typology that we get to have that we get to look back to that Christ makes use of this kind of language of a harvest season and Wheat and chaff and all these kind of things that we see here in this text
06:57
And so it's really multifaceted in the ways that it applies to us in the ways that we are able to see what's taking place in this text
07:04
So first six is coming after Naomi has told Ruth to go and do what?
07:11
That she is wanting according to verse one She's wanting security for Ruth Naomi wants this for her daughter -in -law
07:19
She she wants Ruth to be secure in a marriage. She wants this She wants the family to be redeemed and so she tells her go to the harvest.
07:28
Do not make yourself known Watch Boaz in a very respectful way where you don't interrupt his celebrating
07:35
Let him eat and drink until his heart is merry and when he lays down at the bed go and Lay down at his feet cut and cover his feet and lay there and we only kind of really only touch on this
07:50
Maybe not to what it needed to be last week And so we'll talk a little bit more about these things when we see this event come up here in this text
07:57
But there's some like I said, there's some strangeness some peculiar things that are happening here this does not give us a right as the church to go out and For me to go find a woman and lay at her feet nor a woman to come and lay at my feet that that's not
08:10
What is going on here? That's not giving you The church to go out and pursue this in this immoral way
08:17
That's not the application to make from this kind of a text but verse 6 Says so she went down.
08:24
So so Ruth does not hesitate to listen to the The the command from Naomi Ruth Follows what her mother -in -law has told her and we talked last week that this is this is
08:37
Wonderful and our culture hates this kind of attitude that we see Ruth have That when the mother -in -law the mother the father -in -law the father whoever the parent figure is when they want the best interest for their offspring for their daughter -in -law for their son -in -law
08:54
Whatever the family relationship is that the the sons and daughters have an obligation to honor their mother and father in this way
09:01
They have an obligation to obey God's command the fifth commandment to honor thy mother and thy father
09:07
They have an obligation to do these kind of things and our culture hates this Well, everyone in here knows already when some kid turns 12 years old
09:17
They're about to be in their teenage years Right. They're about to be rebellious
09:24
Her culture expects it it it almost seeks to satisfy and grant that kind of behavior
09:31
That's not correct. That's not correct We are to obey our mothers and our fathers and this is contingent on one thing though as we see
09:41
Ruth has already been disobedient to her mother -in -law. Did you guys see this in the text in chapter 1?
09:48
Naomi says go back to the land of Moab go back and worship your false gods
09:55
Go back and find a husband there. Do not follow me. That was a command from the mother -in -law well,
10:05
I Think we see a wonderful principle just to start off this text with that Now Ruth is being obedient to Naomi because Naomi is wanting what is good for her that honors
10:17
God Is it a glorifying and honoring thing to go and worship a pagan God in a pagan land?
10:23
Absolutely, not that's sinful and when you are commanded to do such you are to disobey
10:29
You are not to obey regardless of the authoritative figure that's telling you to do that if the government says bow the knee
10:36
You don't bow the knee When your mother's and your father's say bow the knee to a pagan
10:42
God or whatever the example is. Thank you Whatever the example is of that situation
10:49
We are not to bow the knee We only bow our knee to who our Lord and Savior the
10:54
King the Messiah Christ who is at the right hand of the Father right now whom we have been placed under his feet
11:02
That's who we bow our knee to and so when a mother and a father tell you to do something That's God honoring and God fearing and God loving
11:10
Then we are to do those things and we are to glorify God in that way if you are being disobedient
11:16
To your mother and father right now However old you we might be
11:21
You need to stop unless they're telling you to do something that is sinful then keep on doing it because you are to glorify
11:27
God first and foremost But we see Ruth who is this mobitis woman
11:35
Doing that which the law requires her to do That's wonderful.
11:41
That's glorious. So she goes forth. She does not hesitate in this way She goes to where she goes to the threshing floor
11:50
And what does she do? She does all According to what her mother -in -law has commanded her to do
11:58
Ruth is obedient completely now This verse is important because we have something later on that is recorded for us that Naomi did not tell her explicitly to do
12:08
In verse 9 and we'll just make mention of it here in a little bit as well verse 9
12:14
Ruth says Spread your covering spread your wings over me. Did Naomi ever say to tell
12:20
Ruth to tell have Ruth tell Boaz that? No Naomi was not did not tell
12:28
Ruth to say this to Boaz But what is it that the reasoning for why
12:34
Ruth has gone there to seek security in the close? Relative Boaz to find a family kinsman and So we see that that's why that wording is like that.
12:43
That's why Naomi why Ruth in this text says Make a covering for me cover me with your wings
12:51
She is being obedient To the command of Naomi. She's being obedient to that which she's hopeful for her and that's wonderful I think
13:01
I think we as the Christian today Whether you be a male or a female can see the the goodness
13:10
It is to be obedient to take advice
13:15
From a mother or a father. It's a good thing to heed these things and to honor them in that way
13:20
It's a great thing to do. So I think we could all make application to our own personal lives in this text so verse 7 continues to go on and say when
13:29
Boaz had eaten and drunk and his heart was merry and we can Mention of this last week and we got to make mention of it again because it's here in the text and it's not with sadness
13:39
I make mention of with these things brothers and sisters Anybody in here that is a drunkard or a glutton you need to stop that's sin.
13:49
That's not right But what we see here with Boaz is that he is drinking
13:55
He is eating But he's able to do so in a way that's not sinful He's not addicted to these kind of things and what is his purpose for doing this?
14:04
Once again, where is he at right now? He's in the land of Israel. He's done a harvest They are to do these things in the land
14:11
This is this is one of the fruits of being a covenant people of God in this text And so what is he doing?
14:18
He's celebrating That which what God has provided for him that which
14:27
God has provided for him anything in this We can take anything in our lives brothers and sisters and we can make it into sin
14:34
We can take anything in our lives and we can overdo it we can become addicted by it we can be consumed by it and we can stop giving glory to God in it and When we do that it immediately is sin.
14:46
We asked the kids I think it was last week What is sin and it's any breaking of God's law or any conformity outside of his will?
14:55
right and The kids knew this Boaz is never told not to eat
15:02
Nor not to drink But he is not supposed to be addicted to these kind of things and we don't have him being addicted here
15:10
So again, all of our lives are Surrounded by different things that are affect us personally
15:16
And so there might be some things that we cannot do with a good clear conscience And I would encourage you not to do those things not to do those things
15:25
If it's sinful for you, it makes you stumble to listen to a certain type of music and don't do that if it if it makes you stumble to You are addicted to cake.
15:38
Let's say that that's one I think many of us around this room can say cakes pretty dang good, right? if you are not able to put the fork down if You are not able to stop licking your fingers of the frosting from the cake
15:51
You need to stop because you're no better than the drunkard It's sin. You're a glutton.
15:58
You're addicted. You're consumed. That's not right We're to be free in all things.
16:03
And so there's application upon application We can make to these kind of things in different ways. We could talk about it But verse 7 says that Boaz has celebrated.
16:12
He's happy with what's taken place He celebrates with a feast he eats and he drinks and and his heart was
16:19
Mary Brothers and sisters on the flip side of this where we can make it into a sin
16:25
When we don't make it into a sin and we seek to glorify God in it How much sweeter it is that we understand his blessings that he has given to us
16:34
How much more wonderful do we take a sip of the coffee and say God we thank you for this We take a sip of the water and we say
16:41
Lord you have quenched my thirst, but it is in you alone that I am satisfied We can then therefore if we're not addicted to something we can glorify
16:51
God in the midst of it We can be thankful to our one that gives us these things we can be
16:58
Mary in our hearts over this That's not a wrong thing to do. That's not wrong Be Mary over it and he went to lie down Boaz goes and he lies down and it's interesting
17:08
It makes a note of where he goes to lie down Says that he lies down at the end of the heap of grain
17:15
So this is gonna play into all the typology that we're gonna see here in a moment and what this story records for us
17:21
But we can imagine that the threshing floor has been threshed The the grain has now been separated and what we see is
17:29
Boaz laying where? He lays down at the foot of his work
17:36
He sees the mighty deeds of God at being faithful and Granting a great harvest for that year and he's laying down at the foot of what his hand has just done
17:51
This is gonna play into a mighty typology in a little bit when we get to think about these kind of things But Boaz lays down there and now the application we can make to ourselves is that one we are to be hard workers
18:02
We are to put our shoulder to the wheel. We are to make our hands get blisters by doing good works
18:08
We are to do these kind of things. We are to go out and and and be fruitful in our labor in this way
18:16
But it doesn't say Boaz in this text kept on working all night long What does it say?
18:23
He rested He rested. It's a good thing to both have a balance of work
18:30
Where you are getting the blisters But it's also good to find yourself with bedhead in the morning because you were able to rest from your labor
18:40
This is a God has given us the Sabbath day for what for a rest for us
18:47
We are meant to rest as well as work And so if we find ourselves Resting more than what we ought to be you better start working and if you find yourself working more than you ought to be you need
18:56
To start resting you need to have balance in our life in this text but Boaz goes to lay down at the heap of the grain and She came secretly so Ruth now comes to Boaz.
19:08
So she's heeded the words of Naomi. She's paid attention She has not made herself known She's paid attention to where Boaz has laid himself down which is at the foot of the wheat and Like I talked about last week
19:20
It would be common that they would have a thick Covering to cover themselves in to keep critters off of them in the middle of the night
19:26
And then they most likely put a put their robe over top of that. All right, that's typically how
19:33
An ethnic Jew in this day would be sleeping so that's most likely what we see here as Boaz's feet are covered right now, and it says that she came secretly and she uncovers his feet and lays down She lays down at the feet of Boaz This is all going to play into effect of the typology and what's going on here in this text, right?
20:01
It says in eight and it happened in the middle of the night that the man was startled
20:06
Could you imagine falling asleep outside after you just worked your butt off and you've had a had a wonderful meal you you've been able to enjoy the different wine and the different food in this day and you're laying down at your work and and you when you went to bed you were by yourself and As many of us do wake up in the middle of night you wake up and there's somebody laying at your feet
20:29
I can only imagine though the sleepiness and Boaz's eyes Trying to rub his eyes to try to figure out what's going on right now the the startling that's taking place and what
20:38
Boaz is Seeing right now. It's a strange thing, right? You don't I don't know if any of us in around this room have ever woken up to a stranger at our feet in the
20:46
Middle of the night. It's kind of a weird ordeal, right? So Boaz wakes up He's startled by Ruth and it says that he says
20:55
Who are you and she answered I am Ruth You're made
21:02
I am Ruth the one that you fed at the table I am Ruth the one that you've given to my family.
21:10
I am Ruth the one that has been working in your field I am Ruth. That's who I am Boaz. I'm Ruth you're made and she then says
21:20
So spread your covering which most likely would have been the the the robe that was laying over top of The blanket of Boaz in that context of that day
21:31
Spread your covering or your wings many of our translations would say over your maid for you
21:40
Are a close relative For you are the family
21:46
Redeemer for you are the kinsmen now When is the closest in this text that we have similar language of Ruth?
21:57
Finding refuge or covering from one's wings We see that just in the prior chapter that Boaz says
22:07
For you have come to seek refuge under the wings of God under the wings of the
22:14
God of Israel Now what Ruth is doing is employing that same language that Boaz has proclaimed to her
22:23
And she says I want you to now cover me now What is the representation of marriage in the
22:29
New Testament that we see in Ephesians 5 that all marriage is? It is that the husband represents
22:36
Christ and the wife represents the church God's people and So we now see why maybe
22:43
Ruth would implore such a language of cover me with your wings cover me
22:49
With your with your wing of your robe, I want to be underneath your arm
22:54
I want to be attached to you in this way. I want refuge from you.
22:59
I want security in you Boaz and That's exactly what
23:04
Naomi says in verse 1. Is it not that I should seek security for you?
23:12
That's why she's employing this type of language is that she's asking essentially
23:18
Boaz There is this covenant that is in the Old Testament right to us
23:23
Old Testament There is a covenant in the land of Israel that you are the family kinsman Will you?
23:31
Accept Me as your wife. Will you have security for me under your wing under your robe?
23:42
Where is Ruth out right now? She's at the feet of Boaz Does Boaz have the right to say yes or no?
23:52
Absolutely. Absolutely. He can't say no to Ruth She's at his feet awaiting judgment from the
24:03
Redeemer She's awaiting judgment from the kinsmen
24:09
She's awaiting judgment from the close relative. She's awaiting either a yes. I will marry you or I know
24:16
I will not She's awaiting judgment, isn't that amazing that now we read in Acts chapter 2
24:24
That Christ is the Lord unto whom David's Lord said sit at my right hand until I make thine enemies your footstool
24:34
All people Have been made subject to the feet of Jesus Christ first Corinthians chapter 15 actually says this it says that he must reign and He's making all things
24:48
To be under his feet to be a his footstool Because he is that Lord that David said unto my
24:55
Lord sit at my right hand until I make thine enemies your footstool We're gonna look at that here in a moment But we can now start to see some of that typology taking place about how this applies to us today
25:05
But in this time, she's awaiting the judgment of if she's going to be married or if she's not and it says then he said
25:16
May you be blessed of the Lord my daughter You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first by not going after young men whether poor or rich What is
25:26
Ruth appealing to in this text? She's appealing to the the law of the land. Is she not she's saying look
25:32
There's a law that you are the kinsmen that I ought to come to you for refuge
25:38
She's appealing to this where she didn't have to she could have gone After the young men
25:46
That she has met in this time of working for Boaz she could have done this But she's appealing to the law of the land
25:54
She's continuing to follow the Yahweh of Israel the
26:00
God of Israel she's continuing to be obedient to this. This is remarkable considering that she's a Moabite woman she says
26:10
It says excuse me that this kindness is greater than the first that she has not gone off there the young men whether poor or rich And then
26:18
Boaz says this he says and now my daughter do not fear. I will do for you. Whatever you ask
26:24
Now this is Boaz Accepting the marriage proposal. He's saying yes, I will marry you
26:29
I will We'll make mention of this here in verse 12 a little bit more but he accepts this
26:35
He accepts it what a wonderful thing praise God for him accepting this because this is the lineage that who is going to be born
26:43
Christ King David is going to be born down this this is this is a wonderful thing in that here and it says
26:53
For all my people in all the city so all of the ethnic Israel all of the
26:58
Jewish people in this land of Jerusalem know who you are Ruth and It says that they know that you are a woman of excellence
27:08
Sisters in Christ women of this church. How does the church recognize you in your work today?
27:14
And how does the world recognize you in your work? This is a wonderful title to be said that you are a woman of excellence
27:25
By somebody that's not even married to Ruth yet. This is not he's not married to her
27:31
He's not calling this out of just a lovey -dovey term He's saying no Ruth all the people know of how much of an excellent woman you are.
27:41
You are a woman of excellence That's a mighty title. I would implore any woman in this church to try to Behave in a way that represents
27:52
Christ by reflecting what Ruth is and be called a woman of excellence You ought to be recognized as such that must be your tiara
28:00
That must be your crown upon your head is to be recognized as a woman of excellence now
28:07
For the men in the room don't feel like I'm leaving you out because there's something here amazing for us, too It says and Now it is true.
28:16
I am a close relative. I am a family Redeemer is what Boaz says to Ruth however
28:24
There is a relative closer than I for the men in this room
28:32
Do you see that Boaz was an honorable man? Absolutely He sees
28:41
Ruth appealing to the law that covenant of a kinsman She sees her doing this and he says
28:49
I will marry you Ruth. But guess what Ruth? We're not gonna do this in a way.
28:55
That's not correct There is one that is a closer relative than I to you
29:01
We're gonna go and find him first and make sure that that he doesn't want to marry and if he does
29:07
I won't marry We're gonna see this more later on about this other family Redeemer this other kinsmen here in this next following week
29:15
But let us back up and think about this right now women you ought to be a woman of excellent men
29:20
You must be a man of honor Obeying God's law in both ways and for a woman and for a man
29:28
Now what we see in here again threshing floor threshing floor a separation of wheat chaff
29:39
We see it being trampled upon we see that there's a pile of the wheat made a gathering of the wheat
29:48
Boaz laying down at the foot of what he has just done And then this Gentile this pagan
29:55
Moabite woman Laying at the feet of her Redeemer awaiting judgment
30:04
Awaiting judgment and expresses to want to be covered by him.
30:12
I Hope that this language is just dripping with the New Testament in your mind already I hope that you have
30:17
Bible verses just popping up in your mind of what okay. That's how that okay That's wonderful in this way.
30:23
I want to turn we're gonna just read really quickly the ways that this this Typology right because we know that we know the physical aspect the the way that Ruth is imploring language about this kinsmen
30:35
Understanding an idea that's in the Old Testament. We understand this context, but how does this? Point us to Jesus Christ because all the scripture points us to Jesus Christ It all does it all does that text points us to Jesus Physically as he's going to be the offspring of these things through this marriage of Boaz and Ruth But this is also pointing us to Jesus and in another way to Matthew chapter 13 verses 24
31:03
Let me make sure actually before I tell you that verses 24 to 30 says this Matthew chapter 13 verses 24 to 30 says this and he presented another parable to them saying so this is
31:16
Christ speaking And he's talking in a parable So it doesn't yeah We'll continue the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field
31:26
But while men were sleeping his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat and went away
31:31
But when the wheat sprang up and bore grain then the tares came Evident also and the slaves of the landowner came and said to him sir
31:42
Did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares? And he said to them an enemy has done this and the slave said to him
31:52
Do you want us then to go and gather them up? But he said no Less while you are gathering up the tares.
32:00
You may also root up the wheat with them Allow both of them to grow together
32:07
Until the harvest and in the time of the harvest I will say to the
32:12
Reapers first go and gather up the tares first go and do that and Bind them in bundles to burn them up, but then gather the wheat into my barn now
32:26
This parable already we can see clear allusions to sue the harvest time of Jerusalem Let us now look at verse 36 to 43 as he is asked more about this parable
32:39
He then left the multitudes and went into the house and his disciples came to him saying
32:45
Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field Jesus's disciples want to know more about this harvest language that Jesus has now used and He answered and said the one who sows the good seed is the
32:57
Son of Man Jesus is the Son of Man you know this and the field is the world and As for the good seed
33:04
These are the sons of the kingdom and the tares are the sons of the evil one according to Jesus in the book of John He says you are of the sons of the devil to the
33:13
Jews. He says you are the sons of the devil and it says and the enemy who sowed them is the devil and the harvest is the end of the age and The Reapers are angels
33:28
Therefore just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire So shall it be at the end of the age
33:34
Then the Son of Man will send forth his angels and they shall will gather out of his kingdom all
33:40
Stumbling blocks and those who commit lawlessness and he will cast them into the furnace in that place
33:46
There shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth Then the righteous will shine forth as the son in the kingdom of their father.
33:52
He who has a ear let him hear This is a parable from Jesus Christ talking about a harvesting of wheat
34:02
What Boaz has just done with harvesting a physical week. This is talking about man and woman saints and unconverted sinners
34:13
I Want to read another point in here. So so let's look at really quickly first Corinthians chapter 15 chapter 15 25 to 27 says
34:30
For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet The last enemy that will be abolished is death for he has put all things in subjection under his feet
34:42
But when he says all things are put in subjection It is evident that he is expected who put all things in subjection to him
34:49
So now we see an example of being subject underneath one's feet Let's go to Ephesians Chapter 1 and this is just to establish with us some some some things that we see in this text of Ruth Ruth with Boaz and her and Let's think about this
35:06
Ephesians chapter 1 Verses 5 and 6 as he predestined us to adoptions as sons
35:13
Through Jesus Christ to himself according to the kind intention of his will to the praise and the glory of his grace
35:20
Which he has bestowed freely Upon us in the beloved
35:29
In him we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of our
35:34
Transpasses according to the riches of his grace so now we see a covering a covering the blood of Jesus Christ a covering
35:45
We won't read it, but we'll just make a reference to it Ephesians chapter 5 verse 22 through 29
35:51
The man represents Christ the woman represents the church Now let's put this all together
35:58
Harvest threshing floor heap of grain that has been gathered and collected Boaz who represents
36:05
Christ in the marriage is Laying down at the work of what he has gathered his wheat the fruit and Then you have
36:17
Ruth who is in the marriage context representative of the church laying at the feet of whom the family kinsmen
36:25
In the New Testament we are adopted Into the family of God and who is the one that is the preeminent one in all things
36:34
Jesus Christ he is our family kinsmen our Redeemer our family our closest relative
36:41
Isn't that sweet to be able to say he is our family kinsmen. He is our family Redeemer We see that all things are being made subject underneath this family kinsmen's feet
36:54
Jesus the Christ the feet that would been pierced for his bride and we see whom the future bride
37:06
Where at the feet of her Redeemer awaiting Judgment brothers and sisters
37:15
This is a clear type logical in this that the covering of Boaz that's going to make it
37:21
So it shows that look you are to be married to me We have the better covering today we are covered by the blood of Jesus Christ and We await the judgment of God when we are presented as a bride to the father
37:39
We are awaiting this We have the better covering we have the better family kinsmen
37:45
This is types and shadows that we see in here and we see that Christ is the substance
37:51
Christ is the substance of these things So let us just pray now as we finish out for today in the in the future text we're going to continue to see who this new this more nearer family kinsmen is to Ruth as this it will just magnify the honor of who
38:12
Boaz is and Also the excellence of who Ruth is because guess what?
38:17
They don't they don't do anything sexually and moral here Boaz says to Ruth in this next text stay at my feet and Guess what
38:26
Boaz in the morning goes and finds the other kinsmen? This is marvelous.
38:32
This is something that is amazing that takes place. So let us pray Lord God, I thank you for your covering
38:39
Lord. I thank you for your feet Lord I thank you for your harvest and your threshing floor
38:46
Lord God, I thank you for your kingdom Lord I thank you For your mercy,
38:53
I Thank you for your justice Lord God on one hand
39:02
I say come quickly Lord and on the other I want to go and tell my neighbor more about you Lord before you come Lord we do say come quickly
39:10
God We do say that we ask you that we plead with you of that as we look and await your coming
39:18
God But let us not Terry. Let us not wait. Let us not think about it. But let us go Just as Ruth when she hears the command of Naomi she goes
39:27
Lord I pray today that we would go and we would do this with eagerness To the world to tell them about our
39:34
Savior About whom we must be subject to his feet to whom we must have salvation in his feet
39:41
Lord God, let us not wait to tell the world about who you are
39:50
God, I thank you for both Boaz and Ruth as they are So important in this covenant plan of yours
40:01
Lord God I thank you for Ruth's excellency and I thank you for the women in this church who are excellent to Lord and God I thank you for Boaz's honor and I thank you for the men in this church who?
40:13
Exemplify that same type of honor Lord. Let us continue to do these things all for your glory not being addicted to anything, but Enjoying you forever and enjoying your blessings that you give us
40:25
Lord God And we say these things in your holy name Jesus the Christ Brothers and sisters,
