Hey guys, Colin here. And this is a video about a new trend on TikTok that we need to talk about.
00:05
Women are asking the men in their lives how often they think about the Roman Empire. And the response is, well they're shocking.
00:12
How often do you think about the Roman Empire? How often do
00:17
I think about it? I guess technically like every day. Do you think about the Roman Empire ever?
00:23
Yeah, I guess, sometimes. How often? Once a week. How do you not think about the
00:29
Roman Empire? How many times, like a week, or just how many times in general, do you think about the
00:38
Roman Empire? Probably not a lot. Why? Not a lot? When was the last time you thought about it?
00:45
Maybe a week or two ago? The Roman Empire was a very big part of history. So how often do you think about it?
00:52
Once every month? Maybe three or four times a month. You think about the Roman Empire once a week?
00:58
It has a lot of big stories and lessons within the Roman Empire of what to do and what not to do, so yeah.
01:04
Some of these guys are saying that they think about the Roman Empire at least once a week or once every few days.
01:10
But why exactly are men thinking so much and so often about the Roman Empire? One of them says it's because this empire was a big part of history, that there are many lessons we can learn from the
01:21
Roman Empire in our modern day and age. But no matter what the reason is, this is something worth looking into as Christians, because something's going on here at a deeper level.
01:31
Let's see a few more examples. How often do you think about the Roman Empire? I don't know, every couple days.
01:41
Maybe once a week? Why? Why? I don't know, a lot of history.
01:51
Honestly, probably two to three times a day. What?! I don't know, probably like three or four times a week
01:57
I'm thinking about it. You're kidding. Why? This is clearly not random or coincidental.
02:03
These men are coming from different locations, different backgrounds, they're clearly all different types of people.
02:08
This thinking about the Roman Empire thing is something that is widespread among men specifically.
02:14
It's happening almost subconsciously across the board. In fact, let's play a video of psychologist
02:19
Jordan Peterson and comedian Joe Rogan talking about this before the trend even came up.
02:25
Check this out. And he had an amazing point about civilizations collapsing, and that when they start collapsing they become obsessed with gender.
02:36
And he was saying that you could trace it back to the ancient Romans, the Greeks. Yeah, Camille Pellier has made much of that.
02:43
I think probably it's not so much an obsession with gender, it's a disintegration of categories as a precursor.
02:50
Like, so it's a marker for if categories just dissolve, especially fundamental ones, the culture is dissolving because the culture is a structure of category.
03:02
This is super interesting. The Roman Empire, towards the end, became obsessed with gender and started to eliminate all categories.
03:10
And these are supposed to be indicators, so to speak, of a mighty society that is about to collapse.
03:15
And this is being talked about on the Joe Rogan Experience, the most popular podcast in the entire world right now.
03:22
So it's truly worth asking the question, why is this so interesting to people? The Roman Empire fell 1 ,500 years ago.
03:29
Why do we even care? Well, my goal in this video is to give you the true reason, the reason that almost no one in the secular culture is talking about right now.
03:38
In my opinion, this is happening because men have a unique nature. That's right, I said it.
03:43
Men and women are different. The reason men, by and large, are thinking about the Roman Empire is because men typically have a built -in passion for building and fighting.
03:53
Men want to build a beautiful society and then fight to defend it. They want to build a beautiful marriage and then fight to defend it.
04:00
They want to build beautiful children and then fight to defend them. This is baked into men at a spiritual level.
04:07
In the New Testament, Paul says, quote, Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
04:14
You see, while we live in a culture that is full of beta males and so -called toxic masculinity, men long for the days of tradition, the days of real masculinity.
04:24
And of course, the other reason that men are thinking about the Roman Empire is that they can see some of the same pitfalls arising in our society today.
04:32
As Jordan Peterson said, when a society tries to do away with all fundamental categories, it will fall apart.
04:39
Because society is made up of categories, like male and female, for example. And that category was instituted by God Himself in the book of Genesis.
04:48
And as a society becomes more and more obsessed with tearing apart the categories that God has made and destroying them, we cannot be surprised when that society begins to break down.
04:58
And men know this in a particular way, they feel this in a specific way. And the reason they think about the fall of Rome is, quite frankly, because they can feel that in the
05:07
Western world, which is in many ways the product of Rome, it's falling before their eyes. I mean, why do you think levels of depression are higher than they've ever been before?
05:17
You see, all of this is connected. And it points to a deep yearning for masculine tradition, and Christianity is our path forward.
05:24
You heard it earlier, Paul tells men to be strong and to act like men. True biblical
05:30
Christianity doesn't call you to be a beta male sniveling in the corner. It calls you to be strong and courageous, and to submit your strength and your skills to God so that they can be used for your family, your church, and your society.
05:43
And this, I believe, is the real reason why men are thinking about the Roman Empire. Please pray for this channel and for anyone mentioned in the video.
