- 00:00
- So first thing in combat situation is you have to control your breathing, which means take a deep breath in your nose, out your mouth.
- 00:09
- You have to slow your heart rate down so you control your heart rate. You can't let your adrenaline get out of control.
- 00:15
- You have to totally relax. If it helps, laugh. Do whatever you have to do to keep yourself totally calm and just relax yourself so you can keep control of your body for that moment of combat until it becomes time to release that killer instinct and that's where you can, you know, finally finish the opponent.
- 00:32
- So a couple things. You're going to learn today some basic techniques on just a simple jab, cross, hook.
- 00:41
- Okay, so you're in tight like this. Jerry, come on over. Okay, so your hands are here. You're inside here.
- 00:47
- It's simple techniques here. Jab, cross, and then hook here. Okay, you're also going to learn elbows that can come any direction.
- 00:55
- So your hands are here. You don't have to think a lot about it. Here, opening and closing door. Up, here, here, opening and closing door.
- 01:03
- Here, you're going to learn head butt. So you're inside. Throw the head, top of the head, not your head, here.
- 01:10
- Okay, bonk. You're both out. Okay, here, head butt right into his nose here or his teeth here.
- 01:18
- Bang. Okay, so you're in tight like this. You don't have to do a lot of thinking. If you get out of control of the fight, you're here.
- 01:23
- It's just simple moves like this. Bang, bang, bang. Okay, and then we go for the legs too.
- 01:30
- But we're going to learn jab, cross, hook. You're going to learn head butt, elbow.
- 01:38
- Your kick is a foot jab. All it is is to keep the attacker away from you or to lead. Foot jab and then roundhouse kick with the shin.
- 01:46
- Okay, muay thai. Exactly. So different systems have different benefits.
- 01:53
- So chun de kwan taekwondo is combat taekwondo. Bruce Lee trained with my instructor and said,
- 02:01
- I'll make a deal with you. You teach me how to do those kicks. I'll teach you how to do my punches.
- 02:07
- And so they traded. So all the kicks you see in Bruce Lee doing are actually from our system of taekwondo.
- 02:13
- They're the most effective for anything like here and up because they use the entire hip when they hit.
- 02:22
- But muay thai round kicks to the leg and the body are the most devastating. There's nothing like them.
- 02:27
- Nothing can beat them. It's with the shin, and your shin is shaped like a blade, like this. So if you ever feel your shin, feel how sharp that is, your shin is shaped like this.
- 02:38
- If you throw your bone, which is like a blade, into this nerve right here, they're done.
- 02:46
- They fall right down, okay? So again, you're going to learn today, in terms of the style here, standing up, very simple techniques.
- 02:55
- I don't want to get crazy. It's very simple. Guarding yourself here, you're going to learn the foot jab. You're going to learn the jab, the cross, the hook.
- 03:02
- You're going to learn the Thai roundhouse kick. You're going to learn the elbows, any direction, and the headbutt, okay?
- 03:11
- Then, if we can go fast enough, I'm going to teach you how we can control somebody if they ever come into the church, and we need to control them with pain compliance.
- 03:19
- Pain compliance is make the person comply with pain, okay? So I don't want to break anything, unless I have to, but pain compliance is things like, let's say that a guy comes in, he's acting squirrely,
- 03:32
- Dusty stops him. Obviously, this guy needs to go, right? So it's very simple. We can just be, hey man, you need to calm down here, okay?
- 03:39
- This is pain compliance, like this. So Jerry, I want you to try to get away. Stop moving.
- 03:46
- Stop moving, okay? Okay? This is pain compliance. So you can hold somebody here.
- 03:51
- Now, Jerry, be honest. Can you move? Nope. Try to move. I can. Nope. Nope. Now, I'm not applying any real, there's no effort happening right now.
- 04:03
- What I'm doing is I'm using God's design against him. God designed his hand to do a certain thing, right?
- 04:09
- To open a certain way. I'm going to use it against him, okay? Like this, okay? So just use it against him for pain compliance.
- 04:16
- So thanks, Jerry. Next one, we'll also learn if we have time.
- 04:21
- So this is called a gooseneck, okay? Because it looks like a goose. All you do is simply just get here.
- 04:27
- Now, what's his first reaction when someone grabs his hand? His natural, autonomic response to someone grabbing his arm is to get his arm away, right?
- 04:38
- So you try to pull it away. Here, okay? Just puts it right in there for me. Come with me. Come with me. Walk with me.
- 04:44
- Here, like this, okay? It's real simple. Now, people may, Dusty, can
- 04:50
- I use you? Is your wrist hurt or anything? Okay. So, okay. Gooseneck, I'm going to put it in.
- 04:56
- I'll try to be gentle. Okay, just let me know when it hurts. There. Okay. Now, okay.
- 05:01
- I want you to tell everyone honestly, does it hurt? Yeah. Okay. Now, I'm going to try to move you. I want you to try to resist.
- 05:08
- Come with me. Come with me. Okay. You good? Yeah. Okay. So, we're learning to gooseneck.
- 05:15
- Jerry, come on over. Also, now, remember I mentioned motor skills? You lose the ability to use your fingers well, and you're shaking, and you're scared.
- 05:24
- It happens to everyone. Everyone's going to feel that. Another way we can use pain compliance is just, hey,
- 05:31
- I need you to calm down. I need you to calm down. Get in here. Here. Down to the ground. Here. This is called a chicken wing, okay?
- 05:38
- All I'm doing is I'm locking inside here against pain points. Now, Jerry, can you get up?
- 05:44
- I want you to try to get up. No? Now, if he gets really squirrely, okay?
- 05:52
- Now, Jerry, can you get up? No. No. Okay. So, you can hold her here. And by the way, remember the George Floyd thing?
- 05:59
- Is there any reason for me to put my knee on his neck right now? Nothing. Okay? So, you don't have to do that to get a guy pinned to the ground, right?
- 06:07
- It's very simple. Just hold him right here. Hold that chicken wing like this, and he's stuck. Now, imagine if this guy's hands were behind his back, right?
- 06:16
- Do I need to put my knee on his neck? Nope. All I can do is slip this in here like this, and now I've got him pinned down.
- 06:22
- He can't go away. No matter how strong he is, he's stuck, okay? So, and finally, if we have time, so three, we'll do the gooseneck, chicken wing.
- 06:32
- Let's say you get totally stunned. He's coming in. He's throwing swings at you. Just throw some swings. I'm here.
- 06:38
- I don't even know what I'm doing here inside. I'm going to just get inside here. Hold him down like this, okay?
- 06:47
- It doesn't take a lot of thinking. All you do is hands are up. You'll slip inside.
- 06:53
- You'll scoop underneath, and you take him down, okay? Simple moves. You guys ready? Yeah? Yeah. Okay. So, thank you,
- 07:00
- Jerry. Okay. First thing, give yourself space.
- 07:05
- Everyone face this direction or wherever you can. Put your left foot in front of you. You want your left foot facing the target, your right foot.
- 07:13
- You're going to put about shoulder -width at a 45 -degree angle. So, you're not facing the guy like this, but you're also not completely sideways.
- 07:23
- So, it's forward 45, 45 -degree angle here. Now, take your hands.
- 07:29
- Very important. I want you to roll the top skin right here. When you make a fist, you have to grab that top skin and squish it.
- 07:40
- If you make a fist with your fingers to your palm, it creates a gap where you're going to have give that will break your fingers, okay?
- 07:49
- Also, it can break your wrist because your wrist is loose. So, one way you can prepare for this is while you're at home, whatever, wherever you are, just practice rolling fists, grabbing that skin, all that skin, tight as you can, and thumbs don't go ever on the inside.
- 08:05
- I hope we all know that, okay? Always on the outside and front right there.
- 08:11
- Okay. So, here's what we're going to do for a level. Left foot forward, right foot back, 45 -degree angle. Take your hands, roll a fist, put your thumbs in your temples.
- 08:19
- Now, just simply drop them down to your nose level. So, if you see my positioning is here.
- 08:26
- My chin is down. You don't want to do this, though. Just keep your chin slightly down, okay? Hands in front of your nose.
- 08:31
- Elbows are inside so you can guard your rib cage and your head easily. So, you're here. Hold that right there.
- 08:38
- Good. Good. Excellent. Don't put them against your face. Put them out, drop them out in front of your face, okay?
- 08:45
- There you go. Keep your thumbs in front of your fists. Practice always keeping those thumbs out of the way because they'll get clipped when you're throwing punches, okay?
- 08:52
- So, hands are inside. Now, you have to learn to breathe. Breathe. So, in your nose, out your mouth.
- 08:59
- When you fight, it's constantly. Control your breathing. In your nose, out your mouth.
- 09:05
- As soon as you start breathing out your mouth in a fight, you are done. Absolutely done. You're going to be gasping for air.
- 09:10
- You have no energy. You have to take breaths while you're fighting. In your nose, out your mouth.
- 09:16
- Fill your body with oxygen. Go in your nose, out your mouth. You have to breathe. It's essential.
- 09:22
- So, left foot forward, right foot back. Breathing your nose, out your mouth. Now, what I want you to do is when you strike, I want you to tell them to shush.
- 09:28
- You have to practice breathing while you're striking. So, whenever you punch for now, I want you to say shush.
- 09:33
- Whenever you're fighting an opponent, somebody's trying to attack you and your family, you're going to put on your war face and you're going to scream at them, okay?
- 09:40
- Yes? Terrify your opponent. What's that? That's right. When you fight, you need to terrify your opponent, okay?
- 09:49
- You have to. God says, blessed be the Lord my rock who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
- 09:57
- So, this is a gift from God right now, okay? That's something you don't learn in most evangelical churches, right? Blessed be the
- 10:03
- Lord my rock who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. This is a thing that glorifies God. When you're training to stop somebody who's hurting yourself or your family or a victim, you're training for a very righteous thing.
- 10:14
- So, when I say you have to learn to become terrifying to an opponent, that's the way to effectively neutralize somebody.
- 10:22
- So, when you're fighting, you need to yell and scream at them, okay? So, left foot forward, right foot back, hands in front.
- 10:29
- Jab is with your front hand. All you do is throw with the elbow. You are not going to pull back.
- 10:35
- You are not going to lean your shoulder. You are not going to practice doing this because that's telegraphing. It shows them you're coming.
- 10:40
- All you do to jab is you literally push from the elbow, front two knuckles, come back, and that's it.
- 10:47
- This is not a move meant to take somebody's head off. All this is meant to do is stun the opponent or lead to break the distance between you and them.
- 10:55
- So, watch. If you rehearse moving on the way to the jab, you are going to do it when you fight, which means he's going to see you coming, okay?
- 11:05
- So, one thing to illustrate this, let me have... I'll use Jerry again. Okay. All right.
- 11:11
- Make sure you can all see this. Everyone take a knee or a fast so you can see or do whatever you have to do. Okay. Just relax. Okay. So, take your hand, hold it up like this.
- 11:20
- All right. Now, you can go left or right, okay? But I'm going to try to hit your hand, and I want you to move it left or right, okay?
- 11:28
- So, just left or right. Get it out of the way. Don't let me hit it. So, here. Okay. Left or right.
- 11:35
- Don't let me hit it. You can move it out of the way. Yeah. Don't try to hit my hand. Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:41
- No. Just move it out of the way. Yeah. Yeah. See? He's trying to catch it. Okay. Here we go. So, just get it out of the way.
- 11:48
- Okay. Ready? Okay.
- 11:53
- Now, ready? You see the difference?
- 12:02
- Okay. So, the reason why is his body is reading my body. As soon as his body sees that there's a danger, he's moving out of the way.
- 12:09
- He's responding to it. So, you have to learn to remove that. Okay. Remove it. So, a lot of times, guys will kick. You'll see black belts, martial artists kicking, and they'll throw their head back while they're kicking.
- 12:20
- As soon as my head goes back, my opponent sees I'm coming. He gets out of the way. You have to learn to train like a glass of water on your head.
- 12:26
- When you want to hit somebody, you just throw your foot up and you hit them. Okay? Nothing moves. Eyes on your opponent.
- 12:31
- So, thank you. Okay. So, ready? Everyone on your feet. Facing this way. Jab. I want you to throw your front jab out.
- 12:39
- Bring it right back. You're going to hit the attacker with your front two knuckles. Front two knuckles line up with your shoulder to take the impact here.
- 12:47
- So, your wrist is not taking the impact. You lock the wrist in position. Your shoulder should take it.
- 12:52
- So, it's here. Watch me. Here. There. Ready? And jab.
- 12:58
- We'll call that number one. Ready? One. Okay? Ready? One. I see a lot of shoulders moving.
- 13:05
- Okay? A lot of shoulders. It's literally just the hand. Push it out. Ready? One. Okay? Out and back.
- 13:10
- One. One. One. One. One. One. One. One. One.
- 13:17
- Faster. Who's there first? Ready? Go. Go. Go. You have to breathe. Go. Go.
- 13:24
- Yes. Let's spread that COVID. Spread it. Spread it. Okay. It's all moist air in here.
- 13:30
- Okay. Here we go. That's right. Yeah. Hands in. Okay. Now, number two now is going to be your right hand.
- 13:38
- It's called a back punch, reverse punch, or cross. Okay? Boxing calls a cross. Martial arts calls it a reverse punch or a back punch.
- 13:45
- So, hands are here. Now, all your power, all of your power is in your hips. I don't care how big you are.
- 13:52
- If you're a trained fighter and you're small, thin, but you know how to use your body, you can hit harder than most guys that are three times your weight and strength.
- 14:00
- It's how you use your body. So, listen. In martial arts, size does not matter. It's technique. It's a science.
- 14:06
- Okay? It's how you use your body. All your power is where? Hips. Remember this. All your power is where?
- 14:13
- It's hips. Hips, hips, hips the whole time. When you kick, it's your hips. When you punch, it's your hips. When you elbow, it's your hips. Hips is where your power is at.
- 14:19
- It's not in your arms or your legs. It's in your hips. So, if you want to hit somebody hard, you've got to learn to use your hip when you hit them.
- 14:26
- So, hands are here. Number two is a cross or back punch, reverse punch. Here's what I want you to do. You just simply pivot all the way on the ball and just let the hand go.
- 14:36
- Same way. No shoulder. All you do is let your hand go. There. So, watch me. Here, guarding in.
- 14:42
- You're just going to punch, back. Here, back. Here, back.
- 14:47
- It's hip, back. So, here, and back. You're going to use your hips.
- 14:53
- So, try it. Right, everyone? Don't punch right now. Twist. Go. Freeze. Like this.
- 15:00
- See that? Get in there, guys, like you're squishing a bug hard in the ground. Get in there.
- 15:05
- Don't be afraid to get there. I mean, I'm talking lift and back. Okay, ready? And try it again.
- 15:11
- Ready? Everyone, twist, punch, back. Where's our power?
- 15:17
- So, stop using your shoulders. You don't need them. Ready? And if you move your shoulders, he knows you're coming.
- 15:24
- So, you're hiding all the movement from here up. It's hidden. Ready? And ready, twist, punch, back.
- 15:33
- For now, practice hitting at your shoulder level. So, here, we're going to go here, punch, back, here, and back.
- 15:41
- Ready? And go. And back again. Ready? And I'll say two. You hit and come back.
- 15:47
- Ready? And two. And back. You have to breathe. Ready? Two. And two.
- 15:53
- Two. One. Ah. Here we go. Ready? One is a jab. Two is a cross.
- 15:59
- Ready? One. Oh, I mean, so many heads are bobbing around and shoulders are moving. I just see nothing, nothing.
- 16:06
- It's just a straight from elbow to target back. Ready? And one. One. Which knuckles?
- 16:12
- Front two knuckles. That's what hits the guy. Front two knuckles. Ready? One. One. You got to breathe.
- 16:17
- I know. Look, if you feel uncomfortable breathing, stop. Okay? Be a man. Breathe. Okay?
- 16:23
- Ready? Stop being embarrassed about it. Tell him to shush. Ready? One. You've got to rehearse breathing. One. One. One.
- 16:30
- One. One. And now for two. Watch me. Again, it's here. Pivot.
- 16:37
- Back. Ready? Two. Ready? Two. You swing your shoulders. I know you're coming. Ready? Two.
- 16:43
- Two. Two. Here we go. One, two together. So from here, when I say go, you let it go.
- 16:51
- Ready? Go. Ready? Go. Ah, watch me again.
- 16:57
- Some of you guys are like this though. You're here. Okay? 50 -50 weight distribution. Hands here.
- 17:03
- Let it go. Let it go. From here. Ready? Go. Go. Go.
- 17:11
- Where's all your hips at? Ready? Go. Go. You have to use your hip.
- 17:16
- Here's why. You can't see it yet. Okay? But you'll see soon. If you don't rehearse this now, the opening and closing door will not work.
- 17:25
- You need hip, hip, hip, hip. Ready? And go.
- 17:32
- Go. Go. You've got it. Ready? Go. Get on that hip, guys.
- 17:37
- Get on the hip. Ready? Go. I want all, guys, I want, everyone do this with me, guys. Pick your foot up.
- 17:43
- Do this. Bang. Ah, come on now. Be a man. Bang. Good. Back again.
- 17:48
- Okay. Try that again. Ready? And one, two. With that squish. Ready? One, two. Oh, man.
- 17:55
- It's a massive shoulder movement, guys. Back straight. Glass of water on your head, guys. Don't spill it. Ready? Go. Ready?
- 18:01
- Go. Go. Go. Go. Good. And relax.
- 18:07
- Deep breath. Okay. Here we go. Ready? Hands in. Face in. And guards are in.
- 18:13
- Hands in front of your face. 50 -50 weight distribution. 45 -degree angle. Hands are inside.
- 18:19
- So, we've got jab. Everyone say jab. Cross. Now, bring it back. Keep your foot down.
- 18:26
- Keep your foot there. Everyone should be on the ball. Good. Now, put the foot down.
- 18:32
- Twist the front foot in. Lift the elbow up and just simply drive with the hip through and back.
- 18:40
- Now, a lot of guys think a hook punch is like this. Guys that can't fight think hook punches like that.
- 18:47
- A hook punch is not like this. Okay? A hook punch is controlled energy with the hip.
- 18:53
- I bring it up. I rock his chin. And I come back. So, this is a hook punch here. Inside tight.
- 19:00
- It's all in the hip. It's not in the arm. You can swat at a guy's head like this.
- 19:07
- You're not going to do near as much damage as the hip driving this here. It's like you're holding a stick here.
- 19:13
- You bring it in. Right there. So, I go jab. Cross.
- 19:19
- Hook. Okay? So, everyone try with me, guys. Jab. Cross. Now, bring it back.
- 19:26
- Foot down. Pivot the foot in. Bring the elbow up. Drive it with the hip. Now, did your eyes move?
- 19:33
- Shouldn't have. Right? Watch. It's not like this. He's here.
- 19:40
- I need to look at him because I want to throw something else. Okay? Eye contact here. I go jab.
- 19:46
- Cross. Hook. Elbow. Elbow. Headbutt. Okay? Eyes the whole time.
- 19:52
- Hands in. So, follow my lead, everybody. Everyone say jab. Cross. Now, bring it back.
- 19:58
- And now pivot the front foot in and hook. Good. Back again. Ready? Jab. Cross.
- 20:04
- Hook. Ready? And jab. Cross. Hook. You should go from here.
- 20:10
- Watch. One. Two. Okay? So, on this side. Here it goes. One. Two.
- 20:16
- Okay? Ready? And jab. Cross. Hook. Good.
- 20:22
- Now, like this. Everyone take your hand like this. I'm sorry. This side. Okay? Here. Hold it like this.
- 20:27
- Like you're grabbing a pole. Like you're grabbing a pole and you're driving this. Don't do this.
- 20:33
- It's actually, you should teach that a long time ago in boxing. Guys broke hands a lot. Because these two knuckles right here making contact is no bueno.
- 20:42
- Okay? Not good right here. You need here. The middle knuckle here or the top two here. Bang. Okay?
- 20:48
- Now, distancia. Because when you cross, you should really, on this move here, you should already be here.
- 20:57
- Like this. Okay? So, now, Desi, can I use you for a second? Okay. I'm going to show you in a minute how you can then change these techniques.
- 21:06
- So, you're learning first, closed hand. Jab. Cross. Hook. Okay? You can then turn it into an eye rake.
- 21:13
- Here. Eye. And you go into the throat here. Okay? And here.
- 21:19
- Now, when you hit a guy, you don't want to just go for the head. This is the hardest part right here. Right?
- 21:24
- It's not going to do a lot of damage. All you need to do is shake his jaw. Just shake it a little bit. Okay? There's like a natural, there's like a, there's a reset button
- 21:33
- God gave us. And it's called your jaw. So, if you can rattle a guy's chin or his jaw just a little bit, he'll fall asleep.
- 21:42
- Okay? It's like, honestly, your brain just goes, I'll stop for a second and then turn back on. So, a lot of times you think, okay, if I could just take this guy's head off, that's really not it.
- 21:51
- It's about where you hit the guy. So, if you could just tag him in the jaw hard enough to shake it, that's it.
- 21:56
- So, you see a lot of guys boxing. They train to keep their chin down.
- 22:02
- Right? They're saying, chin down, chin down, because you don't want this to get shook. And at the same time, you'll have guys biting down on their mouthpieces to try to hold everything in place because they don't want their jaw to shake around.
- 22:12
- So, they're just gritting down and hitting side while they're hitting so they don't get this rocked. Okay? It takes very little to make someone go to sleep.
- 22:19
- Okay? We're going to talk about it in a minute. You can hit them right here in the carotid artery. Just give them a little pop right there. They'll fall asleep.
- 22:25
- Move their jaw, they'll fall asleep. Okay? So, here we go. Thanks, Dusty. Okay, hands in. So, follow my lead.
- 22:32
- Jab, cross, hook. Now, freeze. Everyone watch.
- 22:38
- You notice where my hands are at all times. Watch. When one hand goes out, the other hand stays there. When this returns, this is there.
- 22:45
- When this returns, this is there. You have to rehearse that because I want you to remember something.
- 22:52
- Look how long my hands are. Okay? Here, safe. Right? Somewhat safe.
- 22:58
- But to make contact, where do I have to be? I've got to be here. Now, look where my face is. If he's throwing two, then there's a good chance
- 23:06
- I'm going to get clipped at the same time. So, I've got to be able to do something that makes sense where if I'm throwing hits at him, my hands are staying up and inside like this.
- 23:15
- I'm guarding because what if he throws? I need to be able to guard here. Okay? Fights are fast.
- 23:21
- They're scary. They're unpredictable. You can't dream up some amazing karate self -defense like thing.
- 23:28
- It's fast. It's fast and nothing happens quick. And at times, you'll catch something only because you train to keep your hand up.
- 23:35
- Okay? And then otherwise, if your hand wasn't practiced right there, you would have got clipped. So, hands are in.
- 23:40
- So, you have to rehearse this. You can do this at home, guys. Simple stuff. Stand in front of the mirror and very simply jab, cross, hook.
- 23:47
- And guards are in like this. So, everyone, jab, cross, pivot, hook.
- 23:54
- Okay. Practice on your own for a minute so you get a feel for it. Hip.
- 24:05
- It's all hip. Like here, right? Uh -huh. And you just bring the elbow up flat like a table. Yeah. And just drive it.
- 24:12
- That's it. But see, I'm already like... Yeah. Don't. Just use your hip. You got to hold the head there. Yeah. Exactly.
- 24:18
- You'll get it. It's just learning it now. It feels unnatural.
- 24:24
- Hook. I'm tempted to do like a... Hook. Okay. Yeah. Hook. Just so you bring it up.
- 24:30
- Right. I want you guys to imagine this. Imagine you're just building a platform. You're holding a stick.
- 24:36
- Build a platform like a table here, here. And all this is is driving. Boom. Okay. And your hip is what's driving it.
- 24:44
- Okay. Hip is driving. Hip is driving. Now, when you get more proficient with this, you can loosen up a little bit.
- 24:50
- But you got to learn the technique first. Technique is always before speed and power. Okay. Technique first.
- 24:55
- All right. Ready? Go for it on your own. Drive. Drive the hand through. Jab, cross, hook.
- 25:04
- Okay. Now, remember, are we swatting? No. You are driving. Watch. Create a platform.
- 25:09
- Tense the arm up. Wham. Okay. Right through there. Ready? Jab, cross, hook. Good. Good. Good.
- 25:18
- Good. All right. Now, relax.
- 25:24
- Okay. Take a deep breath. I know we're going fast here, guys. But we're going to learn this whole set.
- 25:29
- Okay. So, hands are in. Now, fighting stance. Go. Now, I'd love to be able to teach you some really advanced, cool blocks.
- 25:36
- Not going to happen. Okay. Basic stuff. What the Navy SEAL fighting system has is about eight techniques and some simple blocks.
- 25:45
- All you have is parries and cover blocks. That's really it. Okay. So, parry block.
- 25:50
- His hands are up. All you do is simply just drop the hand down. Palm, parry. Now, you're not chasing anything.
- 25:56
- All you're doing is deflecting. Okay. So, it's very important when you're blocking, you're not reaching for anything. If you reach for something, you open yourself up.
- 26:03
- If you reach for something, you take too much time. When you're blocking, all you're doing is deflecting. So, here, palm.
- 26:09
- So, front left hand. It's Wade. No, it's not like this. Okay. Wade's over here going.
- 26:21
- All right. Yeah. All right. So, hands are in. Left hand. Left hand. Just simply take your palm. Pop it down.
- 26:27
- Pop it down. Now, your right hand. Pop it down. Pop it down. Okay. Left, right.
- 26:33
- Left, right. Left, right. Left, right. Now, cover blocks is where you're going to cover your head, specifically your jaw, your chin.
- 26:43
- All you do is same thing. You want to use your hip to control this. Take your left foot, pivot it inside.
- 26:49
- Now, take your hand, literally wrap the fist around the back of your head. Literally wrap the fist around the back of your head.
- 26:55
- Keep it as a fist. Keep your eye contact on your attacker. Your other hand should be guarding your face right now.
- 27:01
- Why? He just threw that hook punch. Now, you can throw a cover and then come right back at him with the other hand.
- 27:07
- Boom. Okay. So, if you don't have this cover and eye here, hand here, you can't throw back. Okay. So, now, your eye contact's on your attacker.
- 27:14
- Let's try it again. Left hand parry. Right hand parry. Left hand cover. Back. Now, pivot your right foot.
- 27:22
- Right hand cover. Notice my head stayed where it was at the whole time. So, it's parry, parry, cover, cover.
- 27:30
- Eye contact stays forward the whole time. Nothing moves. Let's try it again. Left hand parry. Right hand parry.
- 27:37
- Left hand cover. Right hand cover. There you go. You just got to work the hips. Pivot, pivot, pivot, pivot.
- 27:43
- Okay. Ready? And martial artists make great dancers, too, because you learn how to spin.
- 27:49
- Okay. Ready? Here we go. Ready? And left hand parry. Right hand parry. And cover. And cover.
- 27:55
- Good job. Okay. Guys, watch this. Like this. You're literally trying to brace for impact.
- 28:01
- If you have it out here, what's going to happen? You get knocked. Here. All right.
- 28:06
- You're getting two. You're getting them and you hitting yourself. You're literally absorbing. Okay. Here. So, hands are in.
- 28:13
- Are there better blocks than this? Yeah. But this is close combat. Remember, you lose motor function skill.
- 28:18
- So, you need to be able to do something that works. Easy. You don't have to think about it. It's cover, cover. Okay. So, hands in. Ready? Left hand parry.
- 28:26
- Right hand parry. Cover, cover. Stop moving your heads. Stop moving your heads.
- 28:31
- Ready? I know it is. Use your hip, though. Okay. So, this is all like it's natural for us to train and move our shoulders while we're punching and moving.
- 28:39
- Okay. You have to learn from here up, isolate. It's all hips. It's all underneath here to move.
- 28:45
- Ready? And on your own, just practice parry, parry, cover, cover. Go. Now, if you have one hand around your head, the other hand should be up where I showed you.
- 28:58
- Very good. Good. Good. Cover, cover, cover. Keep your head where it's at.
- 29:05
- Keep your head. Glass of water. Glass of water. Glass of water.
- 29:10
- That's good, Dusty. Glass of water. Good. All you do is keep the other hand up at all times.
- 29:16
- Okay. Now, we're good. I know we're going fast, but I want to make sure I give you as much as I can in one night. Okay, guys? So, now what you do is grab a partner.
- 29:24
- All right. All right, gentlemen. Quiet, please. Here we go. So, here's what we're going to do. Jerry, come on over, please. If you need to, take a knee so everyone can see.
- 29:31
- Okay. Hands are up. We're going to train this drill. Okay. So, I'm going to throw a front punch, reverse punch, or a jab and a cross.
- 29:40
- Jerry's going to take the backhand to parry. Not backhand. Okay. Here, and then this hand to parry.
- 29:45
- Okay. Just like that. Then I'm going to come in for my hook punch, and Jerry's going to cover block with that free hand.
- 29:50
- Bang. Okay. Now, it's your turn. Okay. Jerry's ready to fire back with more stuff. That's good. Okay.
- 29:56
- Here. So, Jerry's going to jab. No, the fronthand jab. Here, and cross, parry, then come in. No, I want you to hook punch me.
- 30:03
- Boom. Here, like this. Because I need to be able to return back like this. Okay. So, take turns.
- 30:08
- I'm going to jab. You parry with the other hand. Here, here, and then boom. Okay. Now, we're going to return the other way.
- 30:16
- You jab, go, and then go. There, like that. Okay. Everyone got it? You're going to rehearse this move with each other.
- 30:24
- My partner throws a jab, cross, hook. Mine is parry, parry, cover.
- 30:30
- Okay. Then I go jab, cross, hook. He does parry, parry, cover. Everyone understand? Yes? Go for it.
- 30:38
- Freeze. Taking you guys real fast. We got to work this drill. We have to work it. I know it seems like a silly drill.
- 30:44
- It's actually a really, really effective drill. It'll make you amazing. Okay. This is one of the most important drills you can do in the martial arts.
- 30:50
- No matter how good you are, what level you are, it's always a drill that will grow you, Jerry. Okay. So, what we're going to do is,
- 30:58
- Jerry's going to just relax. Just face me, normal, like we're just hanging out. Okay. Put your palms on my palms. This way.
- 31:04
- Okay. Now, Jerry, I want you to move your hands when you see me move. Okay. So, you got to rehearse eye contact and hiding.
- 31:11
- Okay. Your natural response, normally, to fight is you're like, get him, get him, right? Like, just go, go.
- 31:17
- You're showing all that, right? All that needs to disappear. You have to learn to hit somebody cold.
- 31:22
- Okay. Nothing moves. You're going to move your hands whenever I move. Okay. Okay. Okay. Ready?
- 31:45
- Now, your turn. Nope. My turn.
- 31:56
- Okay. So, you're doing with each other. And watch. I want your palms, one hand on top. If you miss, it's his turn.
- 32:02
- Swap. Here's the rule. Eye contact never moves. And stop showing him you're coming.
- 32:08
- Okay. So, take turns. Let's go. Let's hope nobody has coronavirus. All right.
- 32:17
- Freeze. Did everyone get a chance to give it a shot? Yes? All right. Okay. Freeze. Do you realize there how you were forcing yourself to hide everything, stare forward, eye contact the whole time, never lose contact, and move without showing, right?
- 32:32
- Now, take everything you just learned and apply it in the drill you just did. Okay? Go for the drill. Go for it.
- 32:38
- Punch, punch. Go for it.
- 32:44
- So, this one. So, closest one. He punches. Yeah, it's going to match.
- 32:50
- So, he punches. Parry. Parry. And then, no, no. That was good.
- 32:56
- Yeah, yeah. You throw that cross punch again, straight. Go ahead. He parries. Now, you throw the hook punch. It's going to throw its hook.
- 33:02
- You're trying to hit his head with that. Okay? Go. Yeah. With the front. Try to hit with this knuckle right here. Okay? Okay.
- 33:11
- Freeze. Take a knee real fast. Okay. One thing just to be thinking about because we're going to do more drills with this in a second. Jerry.
- 33:19
- Okay? All right. Yeah, I know. Okay. So, hands are up.
- 33:26
- Now, a really important aspect or element of this right here is that when he throws a punch, it's a natural instinct to want to get it out of the way.
- 33:33
- So, he throws a punch. Just hold it out for a second. It's natural to first start fighting and think, I've got to get this hand out of the way.
- 33:40
- Right? And just know when a fight doesn't happen like that. Nobody throws their punch out and holds their hand out there for you.
- 33:46
- Okay? Fights are fast. They're ugly. Things are wild. But if someone punches at me, punch.
- 33:53
- It's just, I just want to just pop it. I don't want to waste any space or any time. If I overextend here, this takes time and I'm open.
- 34:01
- Okay? So, he punches. Here, go. Other one. Here. Okay? So, it's very simple, short movements.
- 34:07
- Just get out of the way. I'm not trying to chase his hands. Okay? So, if you can avoid parrying, don't parry at all.
- 34:13
- If he throws punches and he's out there, punch. Right? Punch again. That's ridiculous.
- 34:19
- Right? Okay? So, I don't have to worry about anything. Punches here, punch. Just try punch. Punch. Punch. Punch. Punch.
- 34:25
- Nothing. Okay? Nothing. I only need to worry about it when I'm here and he's within contact.
- 34:31
- So, this is safe. Right? So, you're safe. Nothing can happen here. I get a little closer. Now, I'm in kicking range.
- 34:37
- This is where we can throw kicks at somebody. Okay? This is punching range. Okay? Here's elbowing and here's grappling.
- 34:43
- Okay? So, if I don't have to block, don't. All right? It's only when he gets a dangerous distance here or proximity, that's when you need to block.
- 34:54
- Okay. Here we go. On your feet, everybody. Stay near your partners because we're going to do something else now.
- 34:59
- All right. Actually, everyone, yeah, we're good where we're at.
- 35:06
- Everyone just face the front here. All right. Let's finish off the upper body with the elbows.
- 35:13
- Just make sure you can see me for a second here. Now, everyone, take your hands and loosen them up. Loose. Loose.
- 35:19
- Take your arms big and feel like almost like jelly. All right. Now, you feel that? You feel the switch that you just had from punching where you're tensed up and you're ready to just plow into somebody to now your hands are loose.
- 35:30
- Okay? When you're elbowing somebody, it's not like this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:36
- Right? When you're elbowing, you got to be super close to the guy, almost nose to nose for it to make contact, and you're hitting the attacker with the tip of your elbow.
- 35:45
- Okay? Bone. Now, I want you guys to think about something for a second. Stellar, come here a second.
- 35:53
- Okay. Lay down right here on the floor. Now, I want you just to envision this for a second so you can all see this.
- 36:00
- Now, if you had a choice, I can stand on your chest with the sneaker on.
- 36:07
- Okay? Or I can stand on your chest with a high heel. Which would you prefer?
- 36:14
- Why? Distributes exactly the surface area, right? Distributes all the weight across the surface area.
- 36:21
- Why would a stiletto heel be really bad? It punctures. Why? Because all of the pounds per square inch are going into that little point.
- 36:31
- Everything's going into that small point. Okay? Thanks. I just wanted to use a little body to illustrate that, right?
- 36:36
- You guys are like, no, that would kill him, right? He'd go through, puncture his ribs, go through his body. So, when you're striking somebody, you're hitting with those front two knuckles, you're taking all the weight of your body, you're punching power, everything, and you're sending it right there in the front two knuckles.
- 36:51
- That's condensing, like a stiletto heel, all the power into that one small surface area.
- 36:57
- All right? That's how you're increasing your ability to hit harder than somebody else. Now, the elbow is the same way.
- 37:03
- I don't want to hit with the forearm. I want to hit with the bone, the tip of the bone, right there.
- 37:09
- Okay? So, that little area right there is what I want to clip the guy. All right? If you hit with the whole forearm, maybe he goes down, maybe it hurts him.
- 37:18
- Some of you guys got some thicker arms. There's some padding there. It might actually help the guy. So, you want to use the tip of the elbow, the bone, when you hit.
- 37:25
- Now, notice how I told you to get your, remember how I told you to get your arms loose? That's because when you elbow, you want to elbow, hand here, with the hand loose.
- 37:35
- You don't need this to elbow. All you need is to move the arm and let the hand literally fall into your, watch the microphone.
- 37:44
- The hand falls into your chest, but look at this. Am I doing this? Here, I face the attacker.
- 37:50
- My eyes are on him like this. I'm in close enough to hit here. This hand's loose. I can draw it out, and I can hit with the other one, come down.
- 37:58
- I can go up with the elbows, side with the elbows, side, on top. So, the elbows,
- 38:04
- Jerry, you just be the dummy. Here. So, watch here.
- 38:09
- You're going to rehearse elbowing loose here. I can hit him with a jaw, come right back, right down here.
- 38:16
- Okay? If I'm in tight, I can go up here and come across here.
- 38:21
- The elbows can go any direction that's open for the moment. Now, the only way that's going to work fast and effectively is if you're not tensing your arms up doing this,
- 38:31
- Robocop, you know, like this. You have to just be loosey -goosey here, here, here, okay?
- 38:40
- So, let's try it. Ready, everyone? I already see some fists going into the chest. Everyone, do this with your hands.
- 38:46
- Now, do this. Put your hand, it's the only time I would ask you as a man to do this. Okay? Put your hand, put it in your sternum, right there in your sternum.
- 38:57
- Put literally the top of the wrist in your sternum, like that. Okay? I mean, literally loose.
- 39:03
- Top of the wrist goes into the sternum. Now, put your, where's your other hand supposed to be? Literally guard. Look how close you are to this guy.
- 39:10
- You've got to guard your face. Okay? Now, good.
- 39:17
- Now, from the here, just bring it right back. Okay, so we're going to try a combination.
- 39:23
- Left hand, drop, hit. Now, bring it back, here, hit, and come back.
- 39:35
- So, we're going to go to his jaw, to his nose. Now, we're not coming like this.
- 39:40
- You hit your funny bone, and you'll be like, ah. The rest of the fight, you're going to be out of it. Okay? Yeah.
- 39:46
- You are literally going here, on top. Okay? This combination, we're going to go like that, just for the benefit of, there you go.
- 39:56
- Okay. So, this combination, we're going to throw elbow, elbow, here. Breathing, here.
- 40:03
- Okay? Inside, there. So, loose, loose.
- 40:09
- Hands are in here, there, like that. Okay? So, that's what it looks like, in combination, and you guys are going to hit the pads.
- 40:17
- It's hit, hit, there. Hands are inside, one, two.
- 40:22
- I'm trying my very best to exaggerate this, so you see how important this is. If you're doing this, right, no good.
- 40:31
- You're inside, literally tight, here. Okay? So, that's this.
- 40:37
- Not here. Relax the hand. Here. Like that.
- 40:43
- It's more devastating than you think. That hurts. No, no. Not down this way.
- 40:50
- Not that way. You want to relax it, and just let it drive with the hip. Go. Ah. Oh. Hurts, really bad.
- 40:56
- Okay? Okay. Breathe, and break. All right. Try this combination, guys. Here's what you're going to do. You're going to do jab, cross, hook.
- 41:06
- Up. You're going to bring it down. Downward elbow to the jaw. So, you're going to go down on top.
- 41:12
- Boom, and then here. Now, remember I mentioned opening and closing door? Tell me if you can see it.
- 41:24
- See it? Open, close. Open, close. The idea here is to develop a reflex, where one move just goes naturally with the other.
- 41:32
- It doesn't matter what comes, it comes. The reason why this is so important for the Navy SEALs is these guys, they said, didn't have a lot of time to learn five years of mastery of martial arts.
- 41:43
- They had to learn an effective system, where if they'd gone to hand -to -hand combat, they could take down any enemy, and they didn't have to think about 100 things.
- 41:51
- All they had to do was just move forward, open the door, close, open, close, open, close, open, close, and they could take down an attacker.
- 41:56
- Okay? So, that's the effective, devastating aspect of this, is it just works naturally off of open and close.
- 42:02
- Open and close. Open and close. Okay? And you'll see how these can start to blend and do more as you get proficient with it.
- 42:08
- So, again, you're going to do jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow.
- 42:15
- One more time. Follow me. Everyone say it. Ready? Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow.
- 42:24
- Okay? That first elbow is coming right down on his nose. The second elbow is going right across his chin. Okay? So, hands in.
- 42:31
- When I say go, we're going to see who can do it first. Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow.
- 42:37
- Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow. One more time. Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow. Ready? Get set.
- 42:43
- Go. The first, here's the guy.
- 42:50
- Freeze. Here's the guy. You hit him here. One, two, three.
- 42:56
- On the nose. Boom. And then jaw. Okay? You're going one, two, three.
- 43:02
- Hit him on his nose and then his jaw. Hands in. Ready? And go. Not bad.
- 43:10
- Not bad. Ready? Wait till I say go. Wait till I say go. Ready? You got to respond to the move.
- 43:16
- You're being attacked. Ready? Go. That's good.
- 43:22
- Jab, cross, jab. That's good. No, good. The yells are good. You're men. Ready? Jab, jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow.
- 43:29
- Ready? Hands in. Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow. Stay focused. Ready? And go. Ready? Go.
- 43:41
- Ready? Go. Ready? Go. And relax.
- 43:52
- Feel good? Yeah? All right, everyone. Do we have water for these guys or cups?
- 43:59
- Do we have bottles of water? All right. Let's do this.
- 44:08
- That's okay. Good. We'll put that. We'll put that. All right, everyone. Let's do this. Seriously, we have limited time.
- 44:14
- I want to give as much as I can tonight, so let's do this. I mean, I'm talking 60 seconds. As fast as you can. Get a drink. Come on back. Go. Yeah. A couple of us.
- 44:23
- Yeah, yeah. Scream like crazy in a parking lot or around six guys.
- 44:31
- Yeah. They're like, what the heck? Yeah, yeah. I went insane and I stopped the gang from attacking. They jumped us.
- 44:37
- My friend, White is a ghost. He's a second. He was like a third degree black belt. Really great fighter.
- 44:43
- As soon as we got jumped, he lost all ever. He just was like in a daze. Two against six is still too much.
- 44:49
- We could have done it and I was ready to do it. And then this big gang shows up around us. I just acted like an absolute madman.
- 44:57
- I just screaming, yelling, trying to taunt the biggest guy and they all like got freaked out and backed off.
- 45:02
- Did you do moves or just taunt them? Did you just scream? Just yelled, acted like I was insane and they all backed off.
- 45:10
- All right. Okay.
- 45:19
- It's kind of dirty, but Jerry, can you hold this? All right. So I'd love to spend a lot of time on this, but we're limited.
- 45:28
- So it's got dust all over it. Okay. Warrior dust.
- 45:36
- All right, Jerry, I can hold right there. So now the foot jab is a way that you can actually break the gap between you and your attacker.
- 45:45
- It does hurt. It's not meant to knock anybody out. It's also a way you can stop somebody from coming forward on you.
- 45:51
- So the foot jab is very effective. It's a way that you can defend if he runs towards me, just jab.
- 45:57
- Okay. Notice nothing moves. I don't do this here. Okay. Too much time, right?
- 46:03
- Too much time for all these moves here. So foot jab is just very simply. He comes in, pick your knee up, throw the ball of your foot in.
- 46:12
- Okay. Just jams him up. And it does have power behind it, but it's not going to knock him out. If you hit him in the jangles, it'll be better.
- 46:21
- Okay. But it's also a lead to break the gap. Jerry's far from me right now. I need to get in there so I can pick my foot up like I'm kicking a door in.
- 46:29
- I simply just pick the knee up here. So we're going to do a foot jab. Then I want you to switch for the
- 46:35
- Thai round kick, but you're going to want to keep it on your hip and turn this way. Okay. So just practice turning for a second.
- 46:44
- Take your foot and bring it back. I don't want you to get hit here. Okay. So, yes.
- 46:50
- Okay. So I'm going to foot jab to break the gap. You're going to pick your foot up, simply come in, jab.
- 46:56
- Then Muay Thai round kick uses the entire hip. This is a Taekwondo round kick. You bring your foot up here with its foot here.
- 47:04
- So it's with the instep here, here. A Muay Thai round kick is with the shin and it's all bone.
- 47:12
- You're just bringing your knee up and over and you're swiveling your hip here. Okay. I want you to pay attention to my back foot, the foot
- 47:19
- I'm standing on. Everyone make sure you can see this. It's all the way. See that?
- 47:27
- So less hip, less kick, less hip, less power. So you're literally hands in, going to take a step with the front foot to get momentum here.
- 47:37
- Take your knee on the ball of the foot. The knee is going to rotate over here.
- 47:43
- So the combination again from the beginning is going to go foot jab, break the gap,
- 47:49
- Muay Thai round kick, here. So one more time, foot jab,
- 47:55
- Muay Thai round kick, shin and rolling here. Okay.
- 48:01
- So I'm exaggerating the moves so you can see it. Here's what you're going for. Let go. Thanks.
- 48:07
- So switch legs. Okay. So here
- 48:14
- I get Jerry to bring his guards in, distract here. I want to hit this nerve, sciatic nerve running down.
- 48:23
- It's not the back of the leg. Relax. Jerry used to work at my karate school.
- 48:33
- So you're not hitting the back of the leg here. You're not hitting the front of the leg. It's right here in this front.
- 48:40
- Okay. So I'll go real loose. And I want you to tell everyone, describe what it feels like.
- 48:45
- I'm not going to go hard. Just here. Oh, not good at all. You feel?
- 48:52
- Yeah. Okay. Walk. Is it kind of, now notice how, yeah.
- 48:58
- So you saw the pad, right? All that power. Bang. All I did to Jerry just now,
- 49:04
- I know I can do it again. Relax. All I did just now is I just touched the shin bone to the nerve.
- 49:10
- So if you can hit a guy right there in that nerve running here with your shin bone, he drops.
- 49:16
- He's done. This leg's done. Okay. So one more time with the pad. We're going to take two lines here with the pad.
- 49:25
- Jerry's going to take a line. And then who else has held pad? Dusty, could you for the first part? So here's what you're going to do.
- 49:30
- One more time. Watch again. Watch. Very important. What's on my head? Glass of water. For the first one, literally conk the leg back.
- 49:40
- Ball, not heel. The same part of the foot you're pivoting on, that's what's going in. Here's why.
- 49:45
- Watch this. If you use the heel, watch how short the kick is. Look how close I have to get it, right?
- 49:51
- If I use the ball to kick somebody, see how long? I can get distance here. There. Okay.
- 49:58
- So ball is long. Look at my faces. He's not going to be able to hit me.
- 50:05
- Okay. So he's there. Ball, front kick. One. He turns. Here.
- 50:11
- Here. Shin. Okay. So one more time. So we're going to watch. Hands are in. Pick your knee up.
- 50:17
- Ball. And then just take that knee and pivot this foot through.
- 50:23
- Okay. What part of the leg are you hitting with? The whole thing. Blade. Right in.
- 50:30
- And where's your power? Here. Okay. If this pad wasn't there, you would do this.
- 50:39
- Get it? That's what you want. You want that much. All right. So let's do two lines. Dusty, please, sir.
- 50:44
- Right there. Jerry, right here. Make it happen. Let's go. Make it happen.
- 50:51
- So make the line. Give the person in front of you some space. Yeah. Left foot forward for now.
- 50:57
- Let's, for now, so we're uniform, do left foot, foot jab, right leg, Muay Thai round kick.
- 51:02
- Ready? So you're in your fighting stance. And let's do everybody get two shots at it.
- 51:10
- One, two. Do it again. Then get out. Let's make sure we do this fast so we can all keep going. Ready?
- 51:16
- And fighting stance. Go for it. Jab. Now turn. And then good.
- 51:22
- And Dusty, if you would, rest that on your right hip. That way you don't get clipped in your Okay. Ready?
- 51:31
- Not bad. Use your knees and don't swivel the arms. It's all, think about this, everything that needs to take place, takes place from right here down.
- 51:40
- This is irrelevant. Okay? So it's here, down. So try that.
- 51:46
- Feel like a robot from here up. Let's try it. Try it again. Go. Ah, better.
- 51:51
- Yes. Now knee. Ah, much better. Much better. Okay. Freeze.
- 51:58
- Are you guys noticing something in here? It's so quiet. You have to breathe.
- 52:05
- Ready? Go. That's not bad at all, Alexander. Good job.
- 52:11
- More hip. More hip. More hip. Not bad,
- 52:16
- Adam. Good job. You got a pivot though, bud. All right. If you had more pivot, you would knock this thing right down.
- 52:21
- Ready? Okay. More. That's your knee. Aim. Nice. Nice.
- 52:30
- Okay. Freeze. Your knee is your aim. Everyone say aim. How would you fire a gun? Would you go to the range and just start blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 52:37
- Okay. You have to, you aim the gun. Yeah. Some of you guys are like, that's pretty much what I do. Okay. You have to aim.
- 52:44
- Aim. And that's your knee. Okay. Your knee aims where you're going to strike. So don't fire your weapon until your target is in sight.
- 52:52
- Okay. So your knee is going to determine where your foot goes. So go back over here. So I need to hit right in the middle.
- 52:58
- I get my knee to the middle. Okay. So your hip's going to rotate all the way through.
- 53:04
- And one more thing. Everyone say squeeze my cheeks. Squeeze my cheeks. Good. That means butt's in.
- 53:14
- Some of you guys are doing this and you've got half a pivot and your butt's out like this. You're using about 25 % of your power.
- 53:21
- 25 % because your butt's out and you have no pivot. If you get your butt in and pivot all the way, it's your whole body.
- 53:27
- Okay. Got it? Squeeze your cheeks. Ready? Go for it. So here we go.
- 53:33
- I want you to try this drill with each other. Don't make contact right now. You're going to do contact with the pads in a minute.
- 53:38
- Jerry, come on over. Okay. So we're going to rehearse this just opening and closing door concept for now.
- 53:45
- So hands are up. All I'm going to do is I'm going to come in and just rehearse getting close. I'm going to go one, two, three, four, five, roundhouse kick.
- 53:54
- Okay. So you're going to practice all that you've learned so far. You're going to go jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow, and then roundhouse kick.
- 54:01
- This floor is slippery. Okay. So Jerry goes. Jerry goes.
- 54:07
- Go. Jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow, and then round. Boom. There you go.
- 54:13
- So I want you to make light contact with the leg. I am not telling you to kick each other.
- 54:19
- I'm telling you to lay your leg against their leg so you get a feel for the leg against your leg.
- 54:26
- And I want you to try to lightly tap where the sciatic nerve is. Right. 45 degree angle side like this.
- 54:33
- Right here. Not on the side. Not on the front. Not on the back. Right down here. Okay. Go for it.
- 54:41
- Now I want to warn you these pads are really firm, tight, strong pads.
- 54:50
- So they don't have really any give. So when you hit them, you have to hit them correctly or you're going to hurt yourself.
- 54:57
- So just don't go full blast right now. Okay. Don't throw your hardest punch you can until you get used to these pads.
- 55:03
- So here's what we're going to do. The combination is going to work like this. Put it against your body nice and tight.
- 55:11
- You're going to throw a foot jab to get yourself inside. Left foot, foot jab.
- 55:16
- I'll hit this target right here. Actually make it easier for yourself. Just put it up. Okay. So left leg, foot jab here.
- 55:22
- Just pushing in. Then I want you to come in and jab cross.
- 55:28
- These are going to hold like this. Okay. You're going to come in, jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow.
- 55:36
- And Jerry, you're going to swivel around and hold it like this. Okay. But you got to hold it against your body like this.
- 55:42
- And then tie around, get your head back tight. Okay. Here like this.
- 55:47
- Okay. You okay? I'm good. I didn't even hit you hard. Okay. That's just good.
- 55:54
- Okay. Hands in. All right. So you're going to hold like this. So it goes jab, foot jab inside here.
- 56:00
- You're going to get a hole like this. Okay. So I'll just go high for me. So jab here. You're going to go one, two, three, four, five, swivel here.
- 56:10
- That's good. Hold. If you go like this, it's going to hit like this. There you go here and then hit here.
- 56:17
- There. So you okay? Okay. So here we go. Ready? One more time. So it goes foot jab, one, jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow, and then here.
- 56:32
- Okay. Got it. Yes. Okay. So foot jab, jab, cross.
- 56:39
- It's jab, cross, front hand, jab, cross, hook, elbow, elbow, round.
- 56:46
- There you go. Good. Nicely done. Go. Good. Nicely done.
- 56:55
- Ready? Ready? Go. Foot. Good. One more time.
- 57:04
- Ready? And go. Jab. Good. Ready?
