- This is why abortion is still legal. The loss of shame. One of the most effective tactics of abortion advocates has been the removal of the stigma and shame surrounding the murder of unborn children.
- 00:11
- There's been a shift in how the evangelical community view shame. The church has been led to believe that shaming someone is a bad thing.
- 00:18
- The world has trained us to speak tenderly about what the Bible calls degrading passions, rather than confronting them the way that God says to.
- 00:25
- As a result, they've given birth to the abominations that we now have, like child sacrifice. Therefore, it's been labeled a shameful activity to try and stop women from keeping
- 00:34
- God's judgment on themselves as they go to kill their own children. This is where we are today. It's become more shameful to obey
- 00:41
- God's commands to rescue children and tell the truth than the actual act of murdering a baby in the womb.
- 00:47
- Pro -choicers have been successful in trying to remove the shamefulness of abortion. For decades, they've sought desperately to drive it into the public eye as a common experience for women and nothing to feel guilty about.
- 00:58
- And Christians, unfortunately, have allowed it to happen. They condemn the shaming of those who are getting the abortions, instead transferring it onto the very words of Scripture, ashamed of what
- 01:10
- God says about it. So you have Christians now believing that the words of the Holy Spirit in Scripture are hate speech rather than the kindness that leads sinners to repentance.
- 01:20
- We've forgotten that if our sin isn't something to be revolted by, then there's no need to run to Jesus.
- 01:26
- But Jesus is the one who was put to open shame for the sin of those who are ashamed in secret.
- 01:31
- For those who confess their sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all of our unrighteousness.
- 01:39
- The gospel gives the great unfair exchange that takes place when his strong shoulders bear the full weight of a broken sinner's shame.
- 01:47
- But without the shame, there's no reason to see that exchange is beautiful and run from the horror of our sin to a perfect savior.
- 01:54
- Without sin being called sin, then the gospel is stripped of its power. Abortion is a shameful sin, but Jesus Christ is a sufficient and perfect savior.
- 02:04
- Those who give him their shame to carry will walk in the ultimate freedom of having peace with God.
- 02:09
- The church must return to a biblical view of shame to maintain the stigma of abortion so that we can truly offer hope to the broken.
