- That's what we're seeing in this country folks. You have to see they hate God. They hate the true
- 00:05
- God. Yesterday we set out to co -opt and overshadow the first day of Pride Month and although it didn't happen exactly as I anticipated or planned,
- 00:14
- I would say that we still succeeded. So to quickly review what we discussed on the show yesterday here at The Daily Wire, we decided that we would celebrate the one -year anniversary of our film
- 00:23
- What Is A Woman and ring in Pride Month 2023 by releasing the film free for everybody on Twitter.
- 00:30
- And we presented this idea to Twitter several weeks ago. They were excited about it at first. The reason I bring that up today is because we are now seeing
- 00:37
- Twitter compromise on free speech. So here is the story and it implicates our company directly and it implicates my friend
- 00:43
- Matt Walsh and his documentary What Is A Woman, the single best documentary and most impactful documentary of the last decade in the
- 00:49
- United States bar none. So Jeremy Boring, co -founder of Daily Wire, my best friend, he tweeted out, and I've of course been privy to these negotiations, quote,
- 00:58
- Twitter canceled a deal with Daily Wire to premiere What Is A Woman for free on the platform because of two instances of misgendering.
- 01:04
- But when a friend of mine posted on his
- 01:09
- Twitter about this book upcoming, Twitter put a warning on it.
- 01:15
- And then another friend, you know, did that and Twitter put a warning on it. I put something up about it, Twitter put a warning on it. But then only a few days before our streaming event,
- 01:22
- Twitter changed its tune dramatically. They told us that they decided that the film is hate speech and that it violates its policies against misgendering, quote, unquote, policies that they removed from their written terms of service months ago, but which they now say still exist, but in,
- 01:37
- I guess, invisible ink, ink. And they told us that we could not have our event page.
- 01:43
- And not only that, but if we posted the film on our own page, they would tag it as hateful conduct and disable sharing on the film and make sure that nobody sees it in their feeds.
- 01:53
- They told us that our only way around this, the only way to post the film and not have its reach totally crushed would be if we censored it ahead of time by removing certain scenes that Twitter found especially offensive.
- 02:05
- And we, of course, refused that offer and instead resolved to post the movie anyway and to have this fight with them in public.
- 02:11
- OK, so as of the morning of Friday, June 2nd, things then change.
- 02:17
- So suddenly the visibility limitations were gone. You can now retweet and share to anybody in your feed the film.
- 02:25
- And not only that, Musk then went personally onto his Twitter feed and he tweeted out every parent should watch this, which is kind of an amazing thing.
- 02:33
- He had suggested last night that the movie would benefit from the so -called Streisand effect. The Streisand effect is named after Barbara Streisand.
- 02:39
- There was a famous incident in which a random photographer had taken a picture of the
- 02:44
- California coastline. It included her house. Nobody knew it was her house. And so he put that photo online and she immediately sued to have it taken down.
- 02:51
- And suddenly millions of people knew the photo was online and started looking at pictures of her house. It was the so -called Streisand effect. So he suggested last night there would be a
- 02:57
- Streisand effect to all of this. And many, many more people would see the movie specifically because of the controversy surrounding the movie.
- 03:03
- And that is now undoubtedly true. But thanks to Elon Musk for doing that. There was no clear resolution then on the issue last night.
- 03:11
- It was kind of still up in the air. We weren't sure what was going on. But we woke up this morning, things had changed. At some point overnight, the hateful conduct flag was removed from the film and sharing and retweeting was enabled.
- 03:23
- I started getting messages from people saying that not only could they share, but the movie was coming up in their feed. And a few hours later, as the ultimate capstone on all of this drama,
- 03:33
- Elon Musk himself shared the film from his account with a caption urging every parent to watch.
- 03:39
- So it was a wild ride for 24 hours. It began with Twitter censoring the film and labeling it hate speech, ended with the owner of the company tweeting his endorsement of the film and urging people to watch.
- 03:52
- You know, you do some tweets that seem to be or at least give support to some who would call others conspiracy theories.
- 04:01
- Well, yes. But I mean, honestly, you know, some of these conspiracy theories have turned out to be true.
- 04:11
- Which ones? Well, like the Hunter Biden laptop. That's true. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, that that that was a pretty big deal.
- 04:20
- Do your tweets hurt the company? Are there Tesla owners who say I don't agree with his political position because and I know it because he shares so much of it?
- 04:28
- Or there are advertisers on Twitter that Linda Yaccarino will come and say, you got to stop, man. Or, you know, I can't get these ads because of some of the things you tweet.
- 04:37
- You know, I'm reminded of the scene in The Princess Bride. Great movie. Great. Where he confronts the person who killed his father.
- 04:46
- And he says, I offer me money, offer me power.
- 04:51
- I don't care. So you just don't care. You want to share what you have to say? I'll say what
- 04:57
- I want to say. And if the consequence of that is losing money, so be it. The Daily Wire's drama with Twitter is important for at least two reasons.
- 05:10
- First, there was the question of whether Twitter would indeed be a platform for free speech, where Christians should be free to share biblical truth without censorship or shadow banning.
- 05:21
- This is important because there is a concerted effort among many of the most popular corporations and individuals to shut down speech they do not like, instead of allowing these issues to be debated in the public square.
- 05:34
- Here's Ana Kasparian from the Young Turks criticizing how Elon Musk is running Twitter.
- 05:39
- So I'm just going to pause for a second and comment on the need in his mind for a billionaire to come in and save the day.
- 05:46
- Putting that much power in the hands of one super, super wealthy person to make the decisions, the right decisions,
- 05:52
- I think not the smartest strategy, not the smartest path, right? But nonetheless, we're talking about conservatives here who tend to uplift the wealthiest people in the country and pretend like they're the most trustworthy.
- 06:05
- When oftentimes they make decisions not based on what's right and wrong, but what's right for them. It seems clear that for Ana Kasparian, what's right would be for Elon to do the things she would like him to do, rather than to simply allow all kinds of people to share what they believe on Twitter.
- 06:23
- Both Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur say they would label pretty much everything Matt Walsh tweets as hate speech, even though he is not inciting violence, but simply sharing ideas.
- 06:34
- So let's take a look at Matt Walsh's tweets, because this is what they looked like, right? Um, visibility limited.
- 06:41
- This tweet may violate Twitter's rules against hateful conduct. And so - That pretty much describes every tweet
- 06:47
- Matt Walsh does, but okay. Okay, so, um, yeah. Similarly, John MacArthur has been censored by YouTube for simply communicating what the
- 06:56
- Bible clearly teaches about homosexuality. Case in point, John MacArthur's public sermon rebuking transgenderism and homosexuality has been removed from YouTube and labeled as hate speech.
- 07:07
- What were his specifically hateful comments, you may ask? Here's the actual quote. He said, quote, simply stated, there is no such thing as transgender.
- 07:16
- You are either XX or XY. That's it. God made male and female, end quote.
- 07:22
- Keep in mind, folks, at the end there, he's literally just quoting the Bible. It's abundantly clear that if particular powerful people had their way, they would not allow debates concerning particular controversial topics in the public square and would instead opt to completely shut down particular opinions, especially opinions that align with biblical morality.
- 07:43
- This also seems to be what Fox News is doing with Tucker Carlson by firing Tucker, yet maintaining his contract so that he can't start a new show because of a non -compete provision in his contract.
- 07:55
- I predict Fox settles this thing now. They're not going to take this to an arbitrator. They're not going to take this to a court, but that's what
- 08:02
- Tucker's threatening. So he writes, the non -compete provision in his contract is no longer valid.
- 08:09
- Fox breached the contract first. You know, I've been saying this. I've been saying this all along. It's very clear.
- 08:15
- If they were behind these smears, and you know my reasoning for believing they are, it's a breach of what we call the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, which is built into every contract.
- 08:24
- And in the employment law context, what it means is an employer has the obligation, the contractual obligation, to deal honestly and fairly with the employee on the other end of the contract.
- 08:38
- Is it honest and fair for a company to fire a man, silence a man, while day by day leaking his confidential moments and communications within the company when he was a faithful servant of the company?
- 08:53
- Because censorship is such a big concern for Christians, it is extremely encouraging to see a person as influential as Elon Musk side with people who are speaking the truth about gender ideology, despite enormous pressure from extremely powerful people and corporations to not allow this conversation to take place in the public square.
- 09:14
- The second reason why The Daily Wire's drama with Twitter is important is because Matt Walsh's documentary,
- 09:20
- What is a Woman?, communicates true things about how God created humans male and female, and how insane it is for people today to be trying to undermine this obvious truth.
- 09:31
- There is a war raging right now in the marketplace of ideas.
- 09:38
- And it's a war that's raging on many fronts. But one of those fronts is on the front of not just marriage, but the idea of biblical manhood and womanhood and marriage, really a biblical understanding of humanity, what it means to be a man or a woman made in the image of God.
- 10:04
- More fundamentally, there's an argument about what it means to be a man or a woman. Just let that sink in for a moment.
- 10:13
- We went from having an argument about, you know, what were acceptable sexual practices to then going to an argument about who are acceptable marriage partners.
- 10:28
- And now to an argument about what is a male and what is a female, what is a man and what is a woman.
- 10:38
- And all of that goes to the heart of a simple, singular question.
- 10:46
- Hath God said? Because if he hasn't, then we are free to have those arguments and those debates and to move the goalposts from time to time.
- 10:57
- But if God hath said, then we're in trouble.
- 11:05
- And I believe we are. Although we have some serious problems with the Catholic faith that Matt Walsh believes in, at the same time, we appreciate his boldness and standing up for so many truths that are clearly communicated in scripture.
- 11:19
- And we fight alongside him in many of these battles. There are so many supposedly Christian pastors today who, unlike Walsh, have essentially caved to the immense pressure to stay silent concerning these biblical issues.
- 11:32
- I think I have an important voice, but I'm very, I think I've been good. I think part of my, if you want to call it success is
- 11:38
- I've stayed in my lane and my lane is lifting people's spirits. And there are, there are issues that good
- 11:43
- Bible believing people see on both sides of the fence. What do you think about gay men? I don't know.
- 11:50
- Trust me. I've talked to enough LGBT. They are not all the same. Oh, for sure. But how do we, first of all, has your thinking evolved on this?
- 12:00
- Evolved and evolving, evolved and evolving. In contrast to these supposed Christian pastors, let us stand as Christians upon the word of God.
- 12:10
- And let us unashamedly proclaim all that the Bible teaches, including the parts that the culture might find offensive.
- 12:17
- Simply stated, there is no such thing as transgender. You're either
- 12:24
- XX or XY. That's it. God made man male and female that is determined genetically.
- 12:32
- That is physiology. That is science. That is reality. This notion that you are something other than your biology is a cultural construct intended as an assault on God.
- 12:47
- But we're ashamed to say marriage is between a man and a woman in the name of the
- 12:53
- Lord. Or we're ashamed to say, no, actually a woman is an adult female human.
- 13:02
- Amen. Two sexes, two genders, just two, just two.
- 13:07
- That's all. No more than that. Just two. We won't say that.
- 13:13
- Merely calling yourself a Christian does not mean you are saved. True Christians are those who believe and submit to all that the
- 13:22
- Bible teaches, not just the parts they like. When Jesus said the gate is small, the way is narrow, and few are those who find it.
- 13:32
- And let me give you the proper interpretation of this in its context. Most of us think, well, what Jesus is talking about is here's all the world over here, the atheists and the agnostics and the movie stars and all the people that hate
- 13:43
- God. And then here's this little group of people that identifies with Christianity. So the most of the world is on the
- 13:50
- Broadway. And here, all of us who are in church on Sunday morning, we're in the narrow way. No, that's not what
- 13:56
- Jesus is teaching. Jesus is not even talking about these people at all. He's not.
- 14:04
- Jesus is saying this among those who call themselves my disciples, few will enter in.
- 14:12
- That's what Jesus is teaching. He's not even concerned about the world at this moment. Jesus is teaching us among those who call themselves my disciples, my people, the church,
- 14:25
- Christians, few of those will actually be saved. That's what Jesus is teaching.
