Turn in your Bibles, if you will, or if you won't, go to Luke 20, verse 15, the tail end of the incident that Jesus had apprised them of, that the
00:39
Lord had sent people before him. In verse 15 we have,
00:46
So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the
00:53
Lord of the vineyard do unto them? So they cast him out, and killed him.
01:02
This was proof that these people could see only as far as their nose the immediate problem to them was the air.
01:19
And they killed him. Now, 16.
01:33
He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others.
01:39
And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. Now, he shall come and destroy not the vineyard, but the people that were looking after it, the very ones that had killed the air, and they would be no more.
02:04
He shall give the vineyard to others. Now, what do you suppose they heard?
02:14
So they cast him out of the vineyard, and they killed him. He shall come and destroy the husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others.
02:23
And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. All they heard was they're going to give it away.
02:31
They're going to give it to somebody else. And he beheld them, and said,
02:39
What is this then that is written? The stone which the builders rejected, the same as become the head of the corner.
02:51
The Lord was telling them that they could kill him, and they would kill him, but they could not destroy the purpose of God.
03:02
So we see it's more than just an immediate problem, but that's all that they could see.
03:08
I'm convinced that no one without the Holy Spirit indwelling them can see beyond their nose.
03:17
All they see is the immediate problem, the physical problem, and they corrected that, they thought.
03:25
But that really wasn't the problem. The stone that they rejected will become the head of the corner.
03:36
Now that's a clear prediction of the Lord's rejection and subsequent triumph.
03:44
So the stone will be rejected, but then it will become the head of the corner.
03:54
Now the stone will be placed at the head of the corner. What's the head of the corner,
04:01
Russell? That's right, that's right.
04:19
It has to be square, so where better to start but a corner. And the 18th verse is what
04:27
I want to get to. Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
04:44
Whosoever shall fall upon that stone, whosoever. John, who is this whosoever?
05:02
Now, when does a sinner know that he is a sinner? David? Yes, that they were a sinner, but does the sinner ever know he is a sinner?
05:51
That's right. Did Paul know what sin was before the
05:57
Damascus road? No. Was he looking for it the moment before he received it?
06:07
No. When he received it, he realized that he had been a sinner.
06:17
Whosoever shall fall upon that stone, whosoever. Now, we know it's the called, but from the man's view, it's just whosoever realizes that he is a sinner.
06:36
Now, that's not until he is saved, but he shall be broken.
06:42
He shall be broken. Joy, what's it mean he shall be broken?
07:01
All right. No, this sinner that is broken, the stone that shall shall fall upon the stone.
07:22
Russell, does that affect the stone any? No. You haven't diminished from it.
07:31
You haven't cracked it. You haven't broken off a chip. You've done nothing but fall on it.
07:37
Now, David explained to me this falling on it. Yes, today you and I can fall on that stone.
08:33
We don't affect the stone any, but we fall on it. Those of us who are the called, who the stone is
08:43
Christ Jesus, no doubt about that, and he's saved.
08:50
That is, we have to come to him as a sinner, broken in spirit, broken in heart.
08:58
When we do this, we are on the foundation that no other man can lay, which is
09:04
Jesus Christ the stone. Or other foundations can no man lay, and that is laid, which is
09:17
Jesus Christ. Daniel tells us the stone which has fallen in judgment someday and grind to powder the nations that reject him.
09:29
What the Lord is saying in this parable is, as clear as the noonday sun, it could not have been misunderstood.
09:41
And the last part of that verse, but, the word but changes, on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind them to powder.
10:04
Why did it not say, John, it'll grind him, grind him into nothing?
10:18
Russell? That's, that's it.
10:23
That's it. They will lose all of their identity, their power, everything, but they will not be annihilated.
10:35
Grind him to powder. They, that's right.
11:10
Absolutely right. He shall fall upon that stone.
11:19
You have, you, yes, well, we have to take it as applying to everyone.
11:35
He was talking to Jews and they knew what he was saying. So, that's right.
12:10
That's right. Yes, yes.
12:46
They were thinking as the, as a Jew would think, because that's the only ones that, the only way they could think.
12:54
We think as Gentiles think, which includes what the Jew thinks, but to us it is someone that has rejected and the stone fell on him, ground him not to nothing but to powder, and those of us that have been called that are the elect, not knowing that we're the elect, we shall fall on that stone and be broken.
13:22
That's different than being ground to powder. You're right, Bill. Yes. Yes.
13:52
Yes. When you grind to powder, well, you know what powder is, base powder and stuff.
14:37
You know what that is. Well, for a person to be ground to powder, it is figurative.
14:45
He grinds to powder. It means he has no identification. He has no soul.
14:51
He has no, he has nothing. He's lost his identity. This is at the judgment day when they're cast into the lake of fire, they will go as nothing, but still there's something.
15:17
That's right. Absolutely. They don't have
15:22
Jesus. Well, that's all I have. So let's stand. Bill, will you dismiss us, please?
