New Bait - Great Results! - MaxScent Powerbait Flatnose Minnow

All in my spot down here, down river, downstream, so we'll see, see if I can keep this up. So the last time I came out to the river, I really struggled. First of all, the river was like four feet higher, the current was really fast, I guess they must have opened the dam or something, and I really struggled to find the fish.

I did catch one, so I didn't get skunked, but it was a small one, and also that's where I got the big pike to bite. If you haven't seen that video, a 10-pound pike, I got it on video, bit my lure, and instantly snapped me off.

I lost that, I didn't catch it, but anyway, I struggled. But anyway, the river's back down to normal height, and I did find a bunch today. Lost a bait, that's okay. Caught three fish on that bait. No giants, but I will definitely take it.

New Bait, Better Results on the River

He was angry. I used a new bait from Berkeley, it's a Maxscent Powerbait, it's a flatnose minnow in black shiner color. I caught a bunch of fish on it, and you'll see in the catch one, and then I have to put a new one on because I lost it.

I caught three fish on one bait, I replaced the bait, and I just put the bait in the water, I didn't even cast it, and instantly a fish is on it. It's ridiculous, this is a really good bait, I'm looking forward to using it again tomorrow.

And then I ended up catching a few on a lizard as well. Fish went right for it, as soon as I dropped it in the water. That was crazy. There he goes, he's still following it. He wants it. He has it. Got it.

This guy's following it the whole way. Tighten this up, because I got to get this guy in the boat. As soon as it hit the water, he went for it, and he kept chasing it. Even though he saw me there, he went for it, and that was crazy.

They're probably a pound and a half, two pounds. All right, I see you. Get out. There he goes. He's coming away. You'll see I actually, I'm going to stop, and I do some bank fishing in the current. There's like a fast current, so I parked the kayak, and I got out, and I started throwing it in the current, and I end up catching a smallmouth with the lizard in the current.

Fishing the Current from the Bank

Fish bit the lizard. There's one. There's one. Come over here, little guy. There he is. I see him. He's not big, but he's using the current to his advantage. Come here, you. He's tired. He's getting tired.

Small guy. Come on, get him. I caught four on this lizard, and this is a lizard from Big Bite Baits. You can get these at Dick's. They're very cheap. It's like two bucks a pack, and it was really durable, honestly.

I caught four fish on the same lizard, and it doesn't even look any worse for the wear. It looks like it's a brand new bait, so I'm pretty impressed with it. I honestly did not expect anything from these baits, but it worked really well and very durable.

A Good Day on the Water

No giants today, but some decent-sized fish. I think the biggest one was the 2 '4", and then I didn't measure a bunch that were probably in the 1 -2 pound range, so really good day. Anyway, that's the video for today.
