Popular Pastors Accidentally Expose Their Own Lies

False Prophets and Failed Predictions

One clear sign of a false teacher is a teacher who makes false prophecies, clearly demonstrating that God has not in fact spoken to that teacher, and that that teacher either lied or was deceived. False prophets love to make predictions about the US presidential election, maybe because their chance of success is about 50%, maybe higher depending upon the polls.

Regarding the 2016 presidential election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, T .B. Joshua posted this on his Facebook page. 10 days ago, I saw the new president of America with a narrow win. The new president will be facing several challenges over many issues, including passing bills, attempting to possibly pass a vote of no confidence on the new president.

The boat of the new president will be rocked. By the way, in order not to keep you in suspense, what I frankly saw is a woman. Of course, prophesying that Hillary Clinton would win the presidency in 2016 was a pretty safe bet, since Clinton was leading in pretty much all the polls.

However, Donald Trump ended up winning the presidency that year, and Joshua deleted his Facebook post after this. People noticed this, and Joshua was forced to explain what happened.

The prophecy I gave here last Sunday, thousands of people, they went for fasting and prayer, crying to God that, God, please hear our cry. We want this to change. They call, say, thank you, man of God.

Thank you, I wake up. We had your prophecy, and immediately, we call ourselves. Thousands of us all, we went to wedding, we fast and prayed, make a prayer. This is your prophecy, give us clue and guideline.

Change this law, help us law. Fasting and prayer, make a prayer.

So basically, Joshua's excuse was that thousands of people fasted and prayed and were able to reverse his prophecy. Of course, the truth is that T .B. Joshua is simply a false prophet. Here's Sid Roth prophesying that Donald Trump would win the presidency in 2020, which, of course, Trump did not win.

Because I am speaking from the future. Yes, you are. At this moment. Right, this moment. And I am going to proclaim that President Trump will be president of the United States. Hallelujah.

Jesus' name. Pat Robertson prophesied the same thing as Sid Roth.

First of all, I want to say without question, Trump is going to win the election. And that doesn't mean you sit home and don't vote. That means you get up and do everything you can to work. But he's going to win.

That's, I think, a given.

Chris Vallotton issued an apology for his failed prophecy about Donald Trump winning in 2020.

But secondly, I really want to apologize, sincerely apologize for missing the prophecy about Donald Trump. I prophesied that Donald Trump would be president four days after he took the nomination. The first time, four days after he declared himself a candidate, I should say, the first time.

And that was obviously right. And then later on, I prophesied that he would not be impeached, and in fact, that he would win another term. And I was completely wrong. I take full responsibility for being wrong.

There's no excuse for it. I think it doesn't make me a false prophet, but it does actually create a credibility gap.

Well, I think it actually does make you a false prophet, since if you had gotten your prediction correct, you would have exhibited that as proof that you are receiving direct revelation from God, when really you're just making a prediction that has a 50 chance of being correct.

Jeremiah Johnson also issued an apology for his false prophecy about Trump.

And then the third thing that I saw was Donald Trump being elected president. And then, you know, fast forward to election day, and just the whole swirl, everything that happened. So I had a personal decision that I felt like the Lord was stirring me about.

It wasn't about whether I was right or wrong. I had this keen awareness that he was going to use me as a sign specifically to the prophetic movement. And so we went through this season of me offering a letter of apology to the body of Christ for what I believe was amiss.

Marcus Rogers also claimed that God told him Trump was going to win the presidency.

Do you think you should apologize? Do you think you may apologize for not directly prophesying that Trump was going to be president? Because I don't think you, I didn't see a video of you ever directly saying it, but kind of propping up prophetic voices, quote unquote.

Do you think you would apologize considering if this actually goes through and it becomes illegal and all that kind of stuff? That's like the big question that a lot of people have.

Of course, I already told the individuals, and I say this in every video that I do, I say, hey, don't put brother Marcus on a pedestal, study for yourself and pray about every video that I post. I say, don't take my word as the final authority.

So I've already said, you know, hey, if he doesn't win, I will admit that I probably missed it because the Bible says we prophesy in part and we know in part. I've never claimed to be a prophet. You can look at all my flyers.

They always ask me what title to put. I say, put brother Marcus because people misuse these titles and things. And so when I was in South Korea, I was going to support Ben Carson or Ted Cruz. I was choosing.

And then, you know, I was praying about it and the Lord told me Trump was going to win. And everybody was mocking me and attacking me and things like that. This is the first election. Yeah, the first election.

And so I never, I never claimed to be a prophet. And you know, God, I was just like, hey man, this is what God is showing me.

And I want to share it with you guys. And that was pretty much it. Well, if you think God is telling you all these things, but these things end up not actually happening, then I think you should question whether it's really God who is supposedly speaking to you.

Failed Prophecies About COVID-19

False prophets also tried to capitalize on the COVID -19 pandemic. Kenneth Copeland claimed that the virus was destroyed and would not harm any more people.

You will destroy through COVID -19. No more. No more. No more. No more. It is finished. Finished. It is over. And the United States of America is healed and well. Thank you. Again. Praise.

Sayeth the mighty. Hallelujah. Spirit. On another occasion, Copeland claimed to destroy the virus with the wind of God.

I blow on you. On you. You are destroyed forever and you will never be back.

Needless to say, COVID -19 was not in fact destroyed forever. It continued to affect an enormous number of people and it exists to this day. Likewise, Benny Hinn made a prophecy about the virus that turned out to be completely false.

So all the earthquakes and the pestilence, which now we see with the coronavirus, it's just the beginning of the trouble. I'll give you a little piece of news that I felt in my soul yesterday. Someone will come up for a cure for that coronavirus.

Guaranteed. I know it by the Holy Ghost, so relax. Okay? Just calm down. It'll probably kill about 5 ,000 people. That's what I felt from the Lord. It's gonna timmer down. It'll be all done. But frankly, thousands will die.

When it hits 5 ,000, it'll change. It'll shift.

There'll be a breakthrough after that. Sean Bowles prophesied to Fox News, the tide is turning now. We're going to see it come to an end. It's not going to be the pandemic that people are afraid of. Of course, Bowles-like Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn were completely wrong about the pandemic, yet they continue to present themselves as prophetic voices within Christianity today.

All of these guys, they gave prophecies about 2020, the year coming up at the time, and none of them saw COVID -19 coming. None of them saw the riots and all of the societal unrest coming. Literally two of the biggest, most monumental, globally impacting events in any of our lifetimes, and none of these prophets saw any of these things coming.

I mean, just that alone proves that these false prophets are utterly and completely worthless.

Why Mistaken Prophecies Do Not Prove a True Prophet

Here's Chris Oyekolomi trying to explain why he and other false prophets may sometimes make mistakes in their prophecies.

A prophet of God draws people to God and not to other gods, but to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and draws people to the Word, not to himself or to some other god. And then the things that he says come to pass.

Now, that's a little tricky because sometimes you have a true prophet who makes mistakes because there are some who have made mistakes. Don't forget that you are not made a pastor or a prophet or an evangelist because you're perfect.

So sometimes some of them can make some mistakes. I don't want you to judge them with their mistakes because sometimes out of enthusiasm, or that's over-enthusiasm, or the expectations of those who are around them, they can do or say things that they're not supposed to do.

And then some might not even be living right. And so things go wrong because they're not paying attention to the Holy Spirit. But that doesn't make them false prophets. See, a true prophet can make mistakes and say the wrong thing.

As a true evangelist, can say the wrong thing, you know.

But when God speaks to prophets in the Bible, there is absolutely no question that he is speaking to them, and they do not make mistakes. So if supposed prophets are making mistakes today, then perhaps we should question whether they are true prophets in the first place.

I interrupt this false prophecy to make a quick point. He says, I felt like the Lord said to me. Dear friends, you will search the Bible in vain, Old or New Testament. You will find no one saying anything like, I felt the Lord said to me such and such.

If you have to wonder whether or not God spoke to you, he didn't, okay, he didn't.

Editing Deceptive Prophecy Clips and the Danger of False Revelation

Here's TB Joshua's ministry claiming that Joshua predicted the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.

On Sunday, the 28th of July, 2013, Prophet TB Joshua gave a prophetic message concerning an Asian nation, warning them of an incident involving a large aircraft carrying over 200 people, developing a fault soon after takeoff.

He subsequently prayed for the nation. These were his words.

This sounds like a pretty amazing prophecy, until we see it in action. Here we see what was edited out of the original video. Of course, Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 did not crash at the takeoff site, but rather disappeared after it had already taken off.

It doesn't matter how close Joshua's prophecy was, and it is incredibly deceptive to edit out a mistake in the original prophecy to present the prophecy as being true. This is clearly the sign of a deceiver and a false prophet.

False Prophecies About Homosexuality and Fidel Castro

Here's Benny Hinn prophesying that God would destroy the homosexual community, which of course he has not done.

The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid -90s, about 94, 95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. But he will not destroy it with what many minds have taught him to be.

He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed.

But it doesn't even end here. Here's Hinn prophesying the death of Fidel Castro, which of course was also completely wrong.

The spirit tells me Fidel Castro will die in the 90s. Oh my, some will try to kill him and they will not succeed, but there will come a change in his physical health and he will not stay in power, and Cuba will be vigilant of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses and Their Failed Predictions

And of course there are numerous other problems with the Jehovah's Witness cult, but one glaring problem is its false prophecies.

The Watchtower organization does not make predictions about the future anymore, but they most certainly have in the past. The Watchtower group, the Jehovah's Witness group, let me read to you some of the things they've said.

Led by the initial founders of the group and then moving on into their later time as well. In 1897, in 1897 it was written in Studies in the Scriptures, volume four, our Lord, the appointed king, is now present since October, 1874.

The belief was that Jesus had sort of quietly returned and only the Watchtower faithful knew about it, and only a couple of them could maybe encounter Jesus, but that he had returned in 1874 to the earth, to the earth.

Then in 1899, the statement was this. I mean, the time is at hand, the 1908 edition, because they change things sometimes when they fail. It says the battle of the great day of almighty God, which will end in 1914 AD, with the complete overthrow of the earth's present rulership is already commenced.

The belief was that there was a battle going on and Jesus was gonna have his millennial reign starting in 1914.

It's extremely sad that so many false teachers and false prophets are deceiving so many who are desperate for more than the simple, clear teachings of scripture. They think they need a miracle or direct revelation from God to experience the fullness of the Christian life.

Our prayer is that God would expose these false prophets and point his people towards his perfect, sufficient word and the sufficiency of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which alone saves people and gives them true peace.
