Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to Fight for Truth.
In this video, we're going to talk about Andrew Klavan, The Daily Wire, Candace Owens, and whether or not Christians should be
telling Jewish people that Christ is King.
So buckle up, because this one's going to be a doozy.
Essentially, a huge fight broke out on conservative Twitter the other day, as per usual.
But the debate this time was about the popular phrase, Christ is King, which is often used by conservatives of
various stripes in memes, social media bios, and online arguments.
Somewhere in this group is Candace Owens, a professing Christian recently let go by The Daily Wire.
She tweeted, quote, Christ is King, every knee will bow.
This has prompted many responses, especially from the rest of the current Daily Wire crowd.
And some have even said that this was part of the reason she was let go by the organization.
But in short, here's the situation.
Some people believe that the statement, Christ is King, is an anti -Semitic dog whistle.
And some others believe that it's a sound declaration of Christian virtue.
Andrew Clavin is a conservative, ethnically Jewish man who converted to Christianity, and he's a host for The Daily Wire
as well.
Here's what he had to say about it.
Christ is the King, and one day every knee will bow and recognize it, because He's not just my King, He's King of the
universe.
But when you use that phrase to mean that God has abandoned His chosen people, the
Jews, through whom He came into this world incarnate, and that He's broken His
promises, His covenant with the Jews, you are quoting scripture like Satan
does in the Bible.
You are quoting scripture to your purposes, and that to me is specifically
wicked.
So according to Andrew, if you say the phrase, Christ is King, and by that you mean that God has, quote,
abandoned Israel, then you are essentially using that phrase satanically.
First off, let's recognize that there are certainly some who are using the phrase with bad motives.
For example, Andrew Tate tweeted, quote,
Just for context, Tate himself is a Muslim, and he unrepentantly has made a fortune by recruiting dozens
of women to create adult content on the internet while pocketing the.
Profits.
Yet he still wants to say that Christ is King, and that he laments the, quote,
It's a joke.
Also, there are definitely some people who use the phrase, Christ is King, who also hold legitimately evil
and unbiblical views about ethnically Jewish people.
Examples of this are, not all, but mostly, anonymous Twitter accounts with six followers run by edgy
13 -year -olds.
This doesn't make their actions any less sinful, but it does add important context.
So yes, there are some people using the phrase who certainly are not operating as good, consistent.
Christians.
That's true enough.
But what Andrew Klavan is saying here is still missing some important responses.
Personally, I would not say that God has, quote, abandoned Israel, so to speak.
But I would say that those who are religiously Jewish or ethnically Jewish will not be saved unless they
believe in Jesus Christ.
And to use the phrase, Christ is King, to mean precisely this is not anti -Semitic in the slightest.
And even this seems to be at least part of what Andrew disagrees with.
Here's what he says about the spiritual state of Ben Shapiro, a man who believes wholeheartedly in the Jewish religion
and has on several occasions mocked and ridiculed Christianity.
Watch this.
But when I think about this, to be honest with you, you know, and I know some people will disagree with this, but
life is not a game show where you guess the name of God and you get to go to heaven, honk, you know, yes, the name is Jesus.
I look at Ben's life and I think if Ben were to embrace Jesus Christ, it would cause devastation to his
family, to the people who love him, to the people who listen to him, to his position.
In the world.
I just have this feeling that God has put this guy where he wants him to do what he wants him to
do.
And as you know, I feel that, you know, the Jews were not abandoned by God.
You follow love, you follow truth, you follow the moral order.
You will find yourself ultimately at Jesus Christ's door.
I don't worry about Ben and Jordan Peterson one little bit.
And so when you spit Christ the King at them to insist that they have been rejected by the one who sent them to do
the work that they're doing, nah, no, no, no, no, no.
So now we get to the root of the problem.
First, Andrew believes that life is quote, not a game show where if you correctly guess that Jesus is the name of
God, then you get into heaven.
And I agree with that insofar as God is certainly not a game show host.
That's true.
However, Andrew seems to be saying that you can be saved without believing that Jesus.
Is God.
And he gives the example of Ben Shapiro.
Andrew even seems to imply that this would be a bad thing for Ben to convert to Christianity because it would cause
devastation for his family, his career, et cetera.
Therefore, we shouldn't be saying Christ is King to Ben because God has him right where he wants him.
According to Andrew, this ladies and gentlemen is completely the opposite of what the Bible.
Teaches.
I want to make this clear.
Jesus himself says in Matthew 10 that those who believe in him may have to do so at the cost of family
relationships.
Yes, this includes Ben Shapiro.
And those who deny Christ, Jewish people included, are people who certainly we should be very concerned for
spiritually.
After all, Acts 4 .12 says quote, and there is salvation in no one else for there is no other name under
heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
So to suggest that you are not worried about Ben simply because you subjectively have a good feeling about
his life is foolish and wrong.
He does not believe that Christ is Savior or serve him as King, and therefore he stands unforgiven before
God.
That's important.
So the irony here is that the only person who's giving out free, cheap salvation as if it were a game show is
Andrew Clavin.
And his belief that quote, God has not abandoned Israel has also led him to falsely suggest that
unbelievers like Ben Shapiro are actually saved by God.
This is 100 % unbiblical and dangerous false teaching.
And unfortunately, it's all too common in conservative circles.
So here's my take on the whole Christ is King situation.
Christ is King, period.
It really can't just be that simple.
Christians have been proclaiming that Christ is King for thousands of years, Revelation 19 .16.
In fact, it's at the core of our faith.
And if you tell me that I'm not allowed to say it because it's an anti -Semitic dog whistle or something, then I have one
response for you.
No, I'm not letting you take one letter, not one word of God's truth out of my mouth because it
offends your preferred minority group.
And I will also not allow a handful of bad actors to change the meaning of such a true, glorious and
historic phrase.
And just to be clear, anyone who hates people just because they're ethnically Jewish needs to repent of their sin
immediately.
For Christians are never commanded to hate people strictly based on their ethnicity or anything like that.
And thankfully, it is possible to hold all of these true and Christian views at the same.
Time.
They don't contradict each other.
And let's make another thing abundantly clear.
There are certainly bad actors on the Zionist side of this argument, too.
Here's one example where a Christian woman was accused of being a bigot against Jewish people by a Jewish
congressman named Max Miller.
And why was she accused of this?
Well, simply for proclaiming that, quote, there is no hope for any of us outside of having faith in Jesus
Christ alone.
Here's another example where someone was accused of anti -Semitism by a relatively well -known Jewish advocate
simply for saying that he hopes Ben Shapiro finds faith in Christ, who is the king of the Jews.
So yes, on the one side, we have people who are using Christ as king irreverently just to be edgy and who hold
to evil views.
This is wrong.
And on the other side, we have Christians being accused of anti -Semitism simply because they believe in Christian doctrine.
This is also wrong.
But by and large, we have the majority of everyday Christians who say Christ is king to mean just that.
That Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and that one day every knee will bow to Him, Jew
and Gentile, Philippians 2 .10.
So with that, let me leave you with one statement today.
Christ is king.
