Welcome to The Rapid Bull, daily edition, where we provide a quick biblical interpretations and applications.
This is a ministry of striving for eternity. In the middle of the night, dark, rainy, moonless night, a man is seen running from a home.
Screams of horror from a woman inside the house, and the man is running.
It's a rainy night, and he's running from the house. Is this man doing something wrong?
Well, the context would be that he was running to go get a doctor because his wife was in labor.
You see, context can change the meaning of what we think something means.
Context is the most important thing when it comes to interpreting the Bible. When we look at context, there's many different things that come into that category.
You have the immediate context, the context of the passage before and after it.
You have the context of history. What is going on historically at the time? You have the cultural context because, believe it or not, 2 ,000 years ago, they wouldn't have understood what
Facebook is, email, things like this. The culture has changed.
If you want to look at not only the culture, the history, the literary context, meaning what's before and after the passage, but you also have spiritual context.
Is this dealing with Israel? Is this dealing with the church age? What's going on? What information have they been given at this time?
You have all these things that play into context. If you want to rightly interpret
God's Word, then you must rightly understand the importance of context. This podcast is part of the
Striving for Eternity ministry. For more content or to request a speaker or seminar to your church, go to strivingforeternity .org.
