- All right, Luke 24, verse 35. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known unto them in the breaking of bread.

- Now this is the men that rushed back to tell the disciples that they knew

- Jesus was alive. And they're all in for a shock.

- And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them.

- No. He just appeared in the midst of them, and said unto them,

- Peace be unto you. But they acted just like I would, were terrified and affrightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.

- And he said unto them, Why are you troubled? Why are you troubled, and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

- For a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see that I have.

- So apparently flesh and bone could come and go. This is a dimension that I am unfamiliar.

- Now, I don't want to labor this point, but the glorified body of our

- Lord was flesh and bones, and not flesh and blood.

- His blood was shed on the cross, if you remember. And we pointed out as we went through it that it was every drop of his blood.

- I don't understand. And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet, and while they yet believed not for joy and wonder, he said unto them,

- While I was yet with you refers before he was crucified. All things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the

- Psalms concerning me. Then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures.

- That's a key phrase. For we cannot understand the scriptures unless he opens our mind to it.

- David and I have visited over coffee many, many times. And we try to think of something new, and we can't.

- Well, that was the Holy Spirit doing that. The Holy Spirit is real.

- Spirit do the interpreting. He has to open your mind and heart.

- Only the Spirit can make the Bible study real to you. And he said unto them,

- Thus it is written, and thus it behooves Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

- In other words, beginning right where you are. You live and teach the word of God unto the uttermost parts of the world.

- He had a global plan. And ye are witnesses of these things.

- And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you, for tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power on high.

- Now, what is the promise of his Father, David? That's right.

- They didn't have that yet. Men witnessing to the world was his method.

- The message was that he died and rose again from the dead, and that by trusting him, sinners could be saved.

- The power to carry the witness to the world is the

- Holy Spirit. 50. And he led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them.

- And they came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

- And we haven't seen him since. The last time the disciples saw the

- Lord, he was in the attitude of blessing. But when he comes the next time to this earth, he'll come in judgment.
