Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, with grateful hearts, thanking you for this great country.

I'm an old man. I've lived through a lot of presidents, beginning with FDR. This is the only one

I have ever seen that wears red, white, and blue to the office.

That's the reason I copied his suit. We acknowledge we are a blessed nation, with a rich history of faith and fortitude, with a future that is filled with promise and purpose.

I was in Jerusalem, where the American Embassy is on Donald Trump Avenue in Jerusalem.

That's where it belonged. I was there at the dedication. We recognize that every good and every perfect gift comes from you, and the

United States of America is your gift, for which we proclaim our gratitude. So when

I watch the inauguration and I see Paula White in the middle, just terrifying.

And then I hear the new president say that she's his favorite preacher, to whom he's been listening since 2007, frightening.

So I said, any real true believer is going to be on your side in this election, because it's not just an individual, it's an entire set of policies that Christians cannot in any way affirm.

But for some people, for some people, they don't want to rejoice right now, because they don't want to give the orange man credit.

Come on now, tell the truth and shame the devil, right? They don't want to give the orange man credit.

So what they're doing is they're backing up, and they're saying, you know, everybody who voted for, you know,

Donald Trump is a racist, white supremacist, and I can't believe that, you know, you did that, and you would have, you know, evangelicals would have voted for that man, and in spite of, you know, how horrible and terrible he was, because, you know,

Hillary was... Yeah, anyway, but, and they've been saying that, they've been saying that since 2016.

And what did most people say? Most evangelicals didn't say, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, he's wonderful, he's perfect, he's...

But no, most people said, you know what, there's some appointments coming up that are incredibly important.

And they were. They were. Three seats.

Three seats. And praise God for his providence.

Donald Trump is a very complicated man. On the one hand, it should be extremely disturbing to all of us as Christians that Trump is promoting and endorsing some of the worst

Christian false prosperity gospel teachers out there, such as Kenneth Copeland. And Paula White.

Trump presents himself as a Christian. Because I hear this is a major theme right here, but two

Corinthians, right? Two Corinthians 317, that's the whole ballgame. Where the spirit of the

Lord, right? Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. And here there is

Liberty College, but Liberty University, but it is so true. And he has even attended David Platt's McLean Bible Church and received prayer from Platt.

So I want to ask us to bow our heads together now and pray for our president.

However, it should be abundantly clear to Christians that Donald Trump is simply not at all a Christian. Not only are his favorite pastors false prosperity gospel teachers like Kenneth Copeland and Paula White, Trump clearly does not understand or believe the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

When asked if he ever asks God for forgiveness, Trump replied with this shockingly heretical statement.

I like to work where I don't really have to ask for forgiveness. I like to do the right thing where I don't have to actually ask for forgiveness. Does that make sense to you?

You know, where you don't make such bad things that you don't have to ask for forgiveness. I mean, I try and lead a life where I don't have to ask

God for forgiveness. But the big problem for Trump is that he in fact has done bad things. He in fact has fallen short of God's moral law and therefore deserves the righteous wrath and judgment of God.

And the only hope for Trump is to repent of his sin and humble himself before Jesus Christ, who alone can save him from his sins.

But because of Trump's ego and pride, he is unwilling to confess his sin and bow down before Jesus Christ, the

King of Kings. But does Trump's egregious spiritual and moral failures mean that Christians should have nothing to do with him?

This is where things get a little more complicated. John MacArthur has been deeply critical of Donald Trump as a presidential candidate because of his moral failures.

Sadly, we live in a culture today where being malicious is a sport.

Maligning people is a sport. It's a sport. The Internet has led to, you know, very, very brutal, brutal statements about other people.

And it's so common that even the president does it all the time. And it is malicious, it is hurtful, it is cutting, it is unnecessary.

It's one thing to warn someone about a person who is a danger and identify that person as a spiritual danger or any other danger.

It's something else to garner laughs at the expense of some malicious talk about another person.

At the same time, however, as we saw earlier, MacArthur has said that Christians should be on Trump's side in the presidential election because the

Democratic Party platform is thoroughly anti -God and anti -Christian. So I said any real true believer is going to be on your side in this election because it's not just an individual.

It's an entire set of policies that Christians cannot in any way affirm. While the

Republican Party platform generally promotes policies that better align with God's moral law, as revealed in the

Bible. Cruz says with a condition, I get to give him a list. And he agrees to only pick

Supreme Court justices from the list that I give him. Trump agreed. Cruz endorsed.

And those three justices came from Cruz's list. Again, God didn't use just one single thing to bring this about.

This isn't a contradictory position to hold. As Christians, we can, on the one hand, recognize the severe moral flaws of Donald Trump, while at the same time recognize that we are not voting for his moral flaws, but rather for the general policies of the

Republican Party and of conservatism that we want to see enacted in this country. This is the same conclusion reached by Votie Bauckham, which we saw earlier, when he said that although pretty much no

Christian thinks of Trump as a moral or wonderful man, Christians should recognize the importance of elections and the consequences they have.

Despite Trump's many, many moral flaws, God, in his providence, used Trump heavily in the overturning of Roe v.

Wade, which was a momentous event in history. This is actually the first time that I've been able to do one of these events after or since the overturn of Roe v.

Wade, which, on the one hand, is just a tremendous blessing.

You know, I mean, all those years, right? All those years, it seemed like that was just never going to happen.

Maybe in our children's lifetime, right? And then all of a sudden, here we are.

But also, as Christians, we should always remember that Trump is not our savior. Trump may be used by God to protect

Christians from the worst excesses of the radical left movement, but pretty much nothing about Trump's spiritual or moral life is a good example for Christians.

So, Christians, let's continue to proclaim the true gospel of Jesus Christ, to proclaim the reality of sin, the need for repentance, and that salvation comes only through faith alone and the atoning work of Jesus Christ alone.

Even while we engage in the complicated business of politics and elections, let us never forget the foundation upon which we stand, and we pray that God would humble even

Donald Trump and bring him to true repentance and faith. Our greatest need is not to be vindicated when people hate us.

Our greatest need is to be vindicated because you hate us, and I said, our greatest need is not to be delivered from the pit.

Our greatest need is to be delivered from the penalty of hell. Our greatest need is not to be freed as slaves.

Our greatest need is to be freed from the slavery of sin. Our greatest need is not to get out of prison.

Our greatest need is to be made righteous, though we are indeed guilty.

Our greatest need is not the material wealth that this world has to offer. Our greatest need is to realize that we are poor and wretched and miserable and naked and blind.

Our greatest need is not to have favor with men. Our greatest need is to have favor with God.

Our greatest need is not a Bible that points us to our best life now.

Our greatest need is a Bible that points us to our best hope ever.

Christ is that hope. He is that life. He is that rescue.

And it is Him whom we love and adore, and it is in His name that we pray.
