This is a ministry of striving for eternity. As we mentioned yesterday's podcast, the fact that when we are going to interpret scripture, we have one of two ways to do it.

We are either going to do it by presuppositions or by principles. Now, some people would say, well, but when you look at the principles, don't they require presuppositions?

Yes, they do. But the reality is we always have to be willing to question our presuppositions to what scripture actually says.

When we look at our theological systems, everybody is going to come to scripture with a theological system in mind.

But when we come to the scriptures with our theological systems in mind, we have to remember that scripture is king over our theological system.

In other words, our theological systems must submit to scripture.

Now, many people are going to say, yes, but mine does. The reality is everyone thinks their system submits to scripture, including the

Jehovah Witness and the Mormon. How do you know yours does? Well, it's going to be a matter that we have to be willing to even question our presuppositions.

In fact, that is one of the first rules when we interpret scripture, is to ask ourselves what are the presuppositions that we are bringing into the text so that we could know what the text is actually saying.
