Why this Facebook Post is Hot Garbage

Welcome back to another conversations with a Calvinist quick quack Today, we're going to be dealing with something that came across my desk this last week And at first I did not want to deal with it But I have decided I have really got to say something about this and maybe some of you have seen this It's this thing right here this letter that has gone out.

It's an open letter from a pastor in North Carolina This was the picture that was on there the picture of course is a steeple which looks like it has been Converted into a Ku Klux Klan mask, and I want to read this letter I want to give some response to this letter very quickly.

I'm not going to give a whole hour to this I don't think it deserves it.

I think it deserves Huh, I think it deserves a lot of ridicule because it's a terrible letter, but I'm gonna read it I'm gonna respond to it in a quick fashion like I said quick quacks at three to five minute videos So let's see how quick I can do this an open letter to white evangelicals, okay right away He's singled out a particular group by color.

That is the very definition of racism Congratulations, sir.

You are a racist.

We're done with you so again an open letter to white evangelicals.

We're done with you, okay? So you've put a whole group together.

You've said all white evangelicals are obviously the same you're done with us, and That's what you've said by North Carolina pastor John Pavlovitz Dear white evangelicals again identifying one group by their color and their religion I need to tell you something people have had it with you.

What people who are you speaking for what people and Who do you think you are to have this? This the the gall to say people have had it with you who what people that you have had it with us, okay? Which us which white people this is ridiculous and the whole letter is ridiculous.

They're done They want nothing to do with you any longer, and here's why they see your hypocrisy your inconsistency You're incredibly selective mercy and you're thinly veiled supremacy again this is all white people all white people are white supremacists because John Pavlovitz says we are and This is again.

This letter is so steeped in the foolish thinking of critical race theory that it's hard to even imagine that Anyone would take it seriously, but people have people have shared this people have shared this a lot And so that's why I'm responding to it He goes on for eight years They watched you relentlessly demonize a black president a man faithfully married for 26 years a doting father and husband without a hint of moral Scandal or the slightest whiff of infidelity they watched you deny his personal faith convictions Argue his birthplace and assail his character all without cause or evidence Okay, not gonna get into this This is obviously saying that all of us just went after Barack Obama because he was a black man not because oh I don't know.

He was for abortion one of the most pro abortion Presidents that we've ever had and yes, that is the one major issue that many of us had with him That's the one major issue that many of us have with the whole Democratic platform is that they are pro abortion We cannot stand for that We cannot stand for the murder of babies and the fact that you only see color and you can't see the blood the red blood of these babies That that's what's killing us.

That's what's causing this whole divide is because you can't understand that it's not about color It's about killing babies.

And so yes, we had an issue with Barack Obama, but it wasn't the fact that he was a black man It was a fact that he went out and he promoted Planned Parenthood.

He said that they were doing God's work He said that those who were Killing their babies.

He said like his his daughters.

I don't want my children I don't want my daughters to be punished with a baby.

Yes, because to him He saw it as a punishment to have a woman have to have a baby if she got pregnant No, she should be able to kill that baby and that was his idea and guess what? We disagreed with him and we disagreed with him vehemently wasn't because it was black.

It was because we actually had a Substantive disagreement.

Oh, and by the way, he's not completely without scandal because I remember Benghazi and so do a lot of other people It goes on to say they saw your brandish scriptures Excuse me They saw you brandish scriptures to malign him and use the laziest of racial stereotypes in criticizing him and through it all white evangelicals You never once suggested that God placed him where he was.

Oh, I don't know.

I'm a Calvinist I believe every leader has been placed where he is by God some leaders for our blessing and some leaders for our judgment So I do believe and I did preach that whoever God puts in the presidency is who God wants there for God's reasons So don't tell me I didn't preach it.

I don't care what other people did You've said all white evangelicals and guess what? I'd be white and I'd be an evangelical.

So you're lying sir.

You're just lying Goes on to say you never once suggested that God placed him where he was You never publicly offered prayers for him and his family liar.

Yes.

I did.

Yes, we did.

Don't say that you're lying You never welcomed him to your Christian universities.

Can't speak to that not a Christian University You never gave him the benefit of the doubt in any instance.

Yes, we did You never spoke of offering him forgiveness or mercy your evangelical your evangelist never publicly Thank God for his leadership because he was leading people to murder babies in the womb Yes, that was probably something that didn't happen You can't understand why because you don't get it Your pastors never took him to the pulpit to offer Sodom never took to the pulpit to offer solidarity with him Yeah, because he's again all for murdering babies.

We're not gonna offer solidarity with that get over it You never made any effort to affirm his humanity or show the love of Jesus to him any quantifiable measure not true He's made in the image of God Absolutely, we affirmed his humanity.

No one stole away from his humanity.

This is absolute garbage You violently opposed him at every single turn without offering a single ounce of grace you claim at the heart of your faith Excuse me Let me say it again without offering a single ounce of grace you claim as the heart of your faith tradition You jettison Jesus as you dispense damnation on him.

Listen, this is just this is just hot garbage this whole line of argumentation It's boohoo.

We gave Barack Obama a hard time because we disagreed with him on substantial political issues Yes, many of us did many of us did not vote for him, but it was not the color of his skin It was the substance of his issues and you can't understand that sir And you probably never will because you have what is obviously a view Which has said all white people are the same which again is the heart of racism Then he goes on now he's gonna switch talking about Trump He says and yet you gave carte blanche to a white Republican man So riddled with depravity so littered with extramarital affairs So unapologetically vile with such a vast resume of moral filth that the mind boggles Yeah, cuz none of us said anything about his moral failures.

None of us said anything about that None of us said hey, you know what we're gonna even if we do vote for this guys We're gonna do so while holding our nose None of us said that except for most of us and many of us said that so sir again You're not telling the truth here.

You're you're us.

You're you're you're making blanket statements about an entire race an entire Color of people you're making a statement.

That is just not true He says and and the change in you is unmistakable.

I see him as a as a Judgment on our country, but don't tell me that I don't believe that God put him where he is and White evangelicals all those people who have had it with you.

They see it clearly they recognize the toxic source of your inconsistency they see that Pigmentation and party are your soul deities.

This is a this this is a literary train wreck and it's untrue He says they see that you aren't interested in perpetuating the love of God or emulating the heart of Jesus not true They see that you aren't burdened to love the least or to be agents of compassion or to care for your Muslim gay African female or poor neighbors as yourself again.

This is an absolute canard this whole letter by the way is a Red-herring it's pointing away from the major issues.

It's saying.

Therefore.

You don't like black people.

You're white Therefore you don't like and he just listed Muslim gays Africans females or poor neighbors again, this this is the height of Intersectionality critical race theory you don't like this person this person because of all of these different places where they are at a Perceived disadvantage again, sir.

You're not telling the truth.

This is not true that but guess what you might not even believe this There are Muslims.

Yeah who voted for Trump? There are gay people who voted for Trump? There's a black people a lot of them who voted for Trump and a lot of women who voted for Trump and guess what? a lot of poor people voted for Trump, so Yeah What you're saying is ridiculous what you're saying is untrue this entire letter is steeped in falsehood and You're gonna say later.

You're gonna say I know you're gonna dismiss this.

Yes, we dismiss things that aren't true, sir And that's what we're doing because that's what this is.

This is a whole bunch of garbage He goes on to say because I want to read the whole thing, even though it's all garbage.

He says They see that all you're really interested in doing is making a God in your own ivory image and Demanding that the world bow down to it.

They recognize this is all about white Republican Jesus not dark-skinned Jesus of Nazareth.

Oh My goodness, really sir.

That's where you're going.

You're gonna you really think that we think that We're gonna that we're promoting Jesus a white Jesus because that somehow matters what color Jesus was Does it really matter what color Jesus was that that's the first question and the second question is if You think that that's what we're promoting is this pasty white ivory colored Jesus and that matters To us then you don't know us you when I say us I mean me me as a white evangelical because you identified me as part of a group and you said all of you were this Way, no, we're not.

No, we're not.

In fact, I teach church history I teach the Bible and I teach about what people in the Middle East and Israel would have looked like in the first century and I've never said Jesus would have looked like me and That's foolish to assume that I have but you said white evangelicals.

So obviously you were talking to me He says I don't know if you realize it But you're digging your own grave these days the grave of your very faith tradition your willingness to align yourself with cruelty is a costly Marriage.

Yes, you've gained a Supreme Court seat a few months with the presidency as a mouthpiece and the cheap high of temporary power But you've lost a whole lot more You've lost an audience with millions of wise decent good-hearted faithful people with eyes to see this this ugliness You've lost any moral high ground or spiritual authority with a generation.

You've lost any semblance of Christlikeness You've lost the plot and most of all you've lost your soul again speaking to all of us as if he knows all of us And to say all of you white evangelicals you've all lost your soul Why? Because we disagree with you politically.

We've lost our soul and he goes on to say I know it's likely you'll dismiss these words Yes, we will the fact that you've even made your own bed with such mental malevolence shows how far gone you are and how in so Insulated you are from the reality in front of you Speaking of being insulated sir You are so steeped in this critical race theory nonsense that you're willing to write something like this publish it with your name on it That's filled with inconsistencies Falsehoods and you're saying to us that we have lost the plot and He goes on to say but I had to try at least reach you.

It's what Jesus would have done No, you know what? Jesus does sir.

Jesus tells the truth something that you seem incapable of doing.

Okay, I've read the whole letter I've responded as I went but let me say a few final things number one This letter was written to all white evangelicals.

Not all white evangelicals are the same That is number one reason why we should reject a letter like this number two It assumes that the reason why we many of us did not have vote for or support Barack Obama Obama was because of his race that is not true number three It assumes that we all just threw away all of our issues with Trump and supported him Because we immediately became forgiving.

No, there were substantive issues Against which we were opposed to Obama There were substantive issues against which we were opposed to Trump many of us voted him for voted for him though Because we did believe he would make a difference in the areas that we were most concerned with and we were right Here's the point we were right because we said something was going to happen in regard to the subject of abortion and it did Because we just saw it with the overturning of Roe vs.

Wade Donald Trump elect or appointed three support of Supreme Court justices and those three Supreme Court justices were instrumental in Us in the the striking down of the worst decision that was ever handed down by the Supreme Court and that is the Roe vs.

Wade decision 50 years of million of killing millions of babies and It was struck down because of those Supreme Court justices which were appointed again by Donald Trump So can I say this? Yeah, we had four years of a guy who on a personal level I didn't like but on a level of Politics where he was appointing people to positions that would do good things that I think are godly things He did it right and we were right so don't tell me that my Lack of support for Obama had to do with this color or my support of Trump had to do with this color It didn't it had everything to do with substance and position and you know what you can say what you want about my color But when you do that, you're showing who the real racist is.
