Human Vision Overview

My presentation on the eye.

The human eye is one of the greatest all-time achievements of evolution.

What are you saying?

Well, I guess I could have mentioned that the eye has over 2 million moving parts, a million nerves connected to the brain, and over 100 million light-sensitive cells. If the eyes were a digital camera, they would have over 576 megapixels.

That's over 20 times better than this. The eyes have 100 million light-sensitive cells and can see a single lit candle almost two miles away. Two eyes give us depth perception, and each eye has six muscles attached so we can track objects without having to move our heads.

And these 12 muscles coordinate perfectly so we don't go cross-eyed.

And you want us all to believe that all of this just came about by chance.
