The Insatiable Search for Mary in Water Stains

I was sent another clip of the merry water stain at the hospital today, and it's just so sad. They bring out an expert who explains it's a dual-pane window, and the seal broke and water got in between the two panes.

You can see that when you look fairly closely at it, and you just, you look at this and you go, what are people missing here? And there's a very kindly little old man who's interviewed who thinks Mary shows up every place.

He went down to Clearwater, Florida, down to the ugly duckling car building that was purchased by a Marion group for millions of dollars right before somebody de-Marionized the building with a slingshot.

But he believes that Mary is appearing in the reconstituted water stain, or she appeared anyway after they removed the palm tree from in front of the ugly duckling car building. And now she's appeared between two pieces of glass where water comes in.

You know, the fact of the matter is that the shape of Mary, that shrouded figure, is very common when moisture experiences gravity. And these folks are really, he even says they're looking for something.

And that's because they haven't found the truth. They haven't found a finished work of Christ. They haven't found a true mediator. They're following a religion that allows them to literally make fools of themselves, taking pictures of reconstituted water stains.

And where's Rome in all of this? Where's the infallible church? I mean, we're all wrong because we believe in Sola Scriptura, but the church, with its infallible wisdom and its wonderful apostolic tradition, can't instruct its people that this is silliness?

It's amazing, isn't it? It truly does bring a tremendous amount. And remember, the rest of the world, one of the things I've certainly learned in dealing with Muslims, the rest of the world looks at Rome as if that's all of Christianity.

They think this represents what Christians are all like. And it's not. So once again, here's some more from the Mary appearance in another water stain on a window somewhere in the world, illustrating once again, all is not well in Rome.

The Crowd at Mercy Medical Center

Well, hundreds of people have been gathering at Mercy Medical Center to catch a glimpse of what many believe is the outline of the Virgin Mary in a window.

CBS3 Springfield's Justine Judge is live outside Mercy to tell us how the hospital is coping with all the crowds.

Justine? Hospital security and Springfield police have been here all day. They've been trying to control the crowds and direct traffic. Everyone here wants to get a look at what the image is in the window.

When people heard about the image on a hospital window at Mercy Medical Center, a handful of onlookers quickly grew into a horde of people snapping photos, clutching their prayer beads and calling friends.

Some people believe that it is Our Lady of Guadalupe. Others believe that it is the Blessed Virgin. Others believe that it may be the Madonna.

Either way, it's far from the first time the Blessed Virgin has made an appearance. Rainey Barthlett saw a very similar image on the window of a building in Florida.

The image of the Virgin appeared and they tried everything to eradicate it. They threw acid on it. It stayed there until about two weeks after we saw it. They threw ball bearings and broke the picture window.

Some believe the Virgin Mary has also appeared in other unusual places, like the belly of a turtle or a piece of wood. Another image of Mary appeared on the window of a hospital in Milton, Mass. When it first appeared, everyone thought it was a blessing.

Experts Explain the Window Stain

But when the crowds got too large, the hospital covered it up with a blue tarp.

That is a perfect, perfect image. As though she's sitting there. To me, I think she's sitting there and she wants to look over us.

But window experts brought in by Mercy say there is an explanation.

Moisture did penetrate between the two plates of glass and the minerals in the water caused.

Some type of chemical reaction. That's the science of it, but these believers have their own theories.

Those of us who believe and we're looking for something. We are looking for cures and we're looking for miracles, actually.

Hospital officials tell me before the image appeared, the window was actually going to be replaced, but for now they will leave it up and they say that everyone is welcome to come down here and take a look.
