00:07
2 Samuel 1 Now it happened after the death of Saul that David returned from striking down the
00:14
Amalekites. Then David remained two days in Ziklag. Now it happened that on the third day, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul, and his clothes were torn and dust was on his head.
00:26
And it happened when he came to David that he fell to the ground and prostrated himself. Then David said to him,
00:33
From where do you come? And he said to him, I have escaped from the camp of Israel. And David said to him,
00:39
How did things go? Tell me now. And he said, The people have fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead.
00:48
And Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also. So David said to the young man who told him,
00:54
How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead? And the young man who told him said,
00:59
By chance I happen to be on Mount Gilboa. And behold, Saul was leaning on his spear.
01:05
And behold, the chariots and the horsemen pursued him closely. Then he turned to look behind him, and he saw me and called to me.
01:12
And I said, Here I am. And he said to me, Who are you? And I answered him, I am an
01:18
Amalekite. Then he said to me, Please stand beside me and put me to death, for agony has seized me because my life still lingers in me.
01:27
So I stood beside him and put him to death, because I knew that he could not live after he had fallen.
01:32
And I took the crown which was on his head and the bracelet which was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord.
01:39
Then David took hold of his clothes and tore them, and so also did all the men who were with him.
01:45
And they lamented and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the people of Yahweh and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
01:54
And David said to the young man who told him, Where are you from? And he answered, I am the son of a sojourner, an
02:01
Amalekite. Then David said to him, How is it you are not afraid to send forth your hand to destroy the anointed of Yahweh?
02:09
And David called one of the young men and said, Approach and fall upon him. So he struck him, and he died.
02:16
And David said to him, Your blood is on your head, for your mouth has answered against you, saying,
02:22
I have put the anointed of Yahweh to death. Then David chanted with this funeral lament over Saul and Jonathan his son, and he told them to teach the sons of Judah the song of the bow.
02:34
Behold, it is written in the book of Jashar. Your beauty, O Israel, is slain on your high places.
02:41
How have the mighty fallen? Tell it not in Gath, proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon, lest the daughters of the
02:48
Philistines be glad, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised exult. On mountains of Goboa let not dew or rain be on you, nor fields of offerings.
02:59
For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul not anointed with oil.
03:04
From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not turn back, and the sword of Saul did not return empty.
03:12
Saul and Jonathan, beloved and pleasant in their life, and in their death they were not separated.
03:18
They were swifter than eagles, they were mightier than lions. O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you luxuriously in scarlet, who put ornaments of gold on your clothing.
03:31
How have the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle? Jonathan is slain on your high places.
03:37
I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan. You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was more wonderful than the love of women.
03:45
How have the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perished? First Corinthians 12
03:55
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, you were being led astray to the mute idols, however you were led.
04:05
Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, Jesus is accursed, and no one can say,
04:13
Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same
04:19
Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. And there are varieties of workings, but the same
04:26
God who works everything in everyone. But to each one is given the manifestation of the
04:32
Spirit for what is profitable. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same
04:40
Spirit, to someone else faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one
04:46
Spirit, and to another the workings of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to someone else various kinds of tongues, and to another the translation of tongues.
04:59
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
05:07
For even as the body is one, and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is
05:15
Christ. For also by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one
05:26
Spirit. For also the body is not one member, but many. If the foot says,
05:32
Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body, it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.
05:39
And if the ear says, Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body, it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.
05:47
If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
05:54
But now God has appointed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. And if they were all one member, where would the body be?
06:03
But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand,
06:09
I have no need of you, or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. On the contrary, how much more is it that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary, and those members of the body which we think are less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, whereas our more presentable members have no such need.
06:34
But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
06:46
And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
06:53
Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it. And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.
07:10
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
07:16
Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all translate? But you earnestly desire the greater gifts, and I will yet show you a more excellent way.
07:31
Ezekiel 10. Then I looked, and behold, in the expanse that was over the heads of the cherubim something like a sapphire stone, an appearance in the likeness of a throne appeared above them.
07:43
And he spoke to the man clothed in linen, and said, Enter between the whirling wheels under the cherubim, and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.
07:55
And he entered in my sight. Now the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house when the man entered, and the cloud filled the inner court.
08:03
Then the glory of Yahweh rose up from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of Yahweh.
08:14
Moreover, the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when
08:21
He speaks. Now it happened that when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the whirling wheels from between the cherubim,
08:30
He entered and stood beside a wheel. Then the cherub sent forth his hand from between the cherubim to the fire which was between the cherubim, took some up, and put it into the hands of the one clothed in linen, who took it and went out.
08:45
And the cherubim appeared to have the form of a man's hand under their wings. Then I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like the gleam of a tarshish stone.
08:59
As for their appearance, all four of them had the same likeness, as if one wheel were within another wheel.
09:07
As they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went.
09:12
But they went in the direction which they faced without turning as they went. And their whole body, their backs, their hands, their wings, and the wheels were full of eyes all around, the wheels belonging to all four of them.
09:27
The wheels were called in my hearing the whirling wheels. And each one had four faces.
09:33
The first face was the face of a cherub, the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
09:42
Then the cherubim rose up. They are the living creatures that I saw by the river Chabar.
09:48
Now as the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them. Also when the cherubim lifted up their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels would not turn from beside them.
09:57
When the cherubim stood still, the wheels would stand still. And when they rose up, the wheels would rise with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in them.
10:07
Then the glory of Yahweh departed from the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim. When the cherubim departed, they lifted their wings and rose up from the earth in my sight with the wheels beside them.
10:19
And they stood still at the entrance of the east gate of the house of Yahweh. And the glory of the
10:25
God of Israel hovered over them. These are the living creatures that I saw beneath the
10:30
God of Israel by the river Chabar. So I knew that they were cherubim. Each one had four faces, and each one four wings.
10:38
And beneath their wings was the likeness of human hands. As for the likeness of their faces, they were the same faces whose appearance
10:46
I had seen by the river Chabar. Each one went straight ahead. Psalm 49
10:56
For the choir -director of the sons of Korah, a psalm. Hear this, all peoples, give ear, all inhabitants of the world, both low and high, rich and poor together.
11:08
My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will be discernment. I will incline my ear to a proverb.
11:15
I will express my riddle on the harp. Why should I fear in days of evil, when the iniquity of my supplanters surrounds me, even those who trust in their wealth and boast in the abundance of their riches?
11:28
Truly no man can redeem his brother. He cannot give to God a ransom for him.
11:34
For the redemption price for their soul is costly, and it ceases forever, that he should live on eternally, that he should not seek corruption.
11:43
For he sees that even wise men die. The fool and the senseless alike perish and leave their wealth to others.
11:50
Their inner thought is that their houses are forever, and their dwelling -places from generation to generation.
11:57
They have called their lands after their own names. But man in his honor will not endure.
12:02
He is like the animals that perish. This is the way of those who are foolish, and of those after them who are pleased with their words.
12:11
As sheep they are appointed for Sheol. Death will shepherd them, and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, and their form shall be for Sheol to consume, far away from his habitation.
12:25
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. Selah Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases.
12:37
For when he dies he will not take any of it, his glory will not descend after him. For while he lives he blesses his soul, and men will praise you when you do well for yourself.
12:48
But his soul shall go to the generation of his fathers, they will eternally not see light.
12:54
Man in his honor, but who does not understand, is like the animals that perish.
