Welcome to another installment of Fighting for the Faith. My name is Chris Roseborough. I am your servant in Jesus Christ.
00:21
This is the channel that compares what people are saying in the name of God to the Word of God.
00:27
Now, if you've ever heard somebody say, you know, Hebrews 11, 6 says, without faith it's impossible to please
00:34
God. So you had better get busy dreaming the impossible dream.
00:39
To dream the impossible dream. I'm a little off key there.
00:45
And if you don't dream the impossible dream and dream big and stuff like that, well then you're not pleasing
00:51
God, you know. And by the way, have you ever considered this? If that's what that text means and you're not dreaming big enough, have you ever thought it's kind of a dangerous thing to like upset
01:02
God, you know, to not be pleased by Him? Yeah. Anyway, all of that, if you've ever heard anyone talk that way, hit the subscribe button down below.
01:12
Don't forget to like the video, ring the bell. Don't even ask me about how the new notifications work on YouTube.
01:18
It's just a mysterium tremendum to me. We're going to be heading over to the
01:23
Helium channel. This is the channel for Terri Savelle Foy. Apparently the amount of helium in the atmosphere down in her studio is a little higher than most.
01:36
And so we're going to be listening to her as she's going to explain to us three signs that God wants you to trust
01:43
Him more, to dream the impossible dreamer thingery more and stuff.
01:49
And boy, I got to tell you, the theology on this one, it's going to end up in some kind of weird form of works righteousness.
01:56
So let me pull up the desktop. There we go. There's Terri Savelle Foy. You might want to put earplugs in so that the ears are not bleeding.
02:06
And let's get going, shall we? So I want to talk to you about three signs God is asking you to trust
02:13
Him more based on my own experience. Did you catch those words based upon what the
02:22
Bible, according to, you know, maybe the gospel of Luke or maybe the book of Revelation, no, according to her own experience, there's no way to do theology, by the way.
02:34
Let me back this up. Let me try this again. Already have. I appreciate it so much.
02:40
So I want to talk to you about three signs God is asking you to trust Him more.
02:46
Signs too, by the way. So there I am walking down the street and all of a sudden
02:52
I see a sign and the sign means that God wants me to trust Him more.
02:58
Maybe it's a beautiful sunset. Maybe it's a bald eagle flying magnificently up above me, or I don't know, signs, you know,
03:10
I saw that movie too, you know, the one where the guy where the tinfoil pyramid, nevermind that it was that an
03:16
M night Shyamalan, is that that without, okay. Based on my own experience. So number one, we'll get right into this.
03:22
Number one is when your dream is absolutely impossible. Yeah. So a proof that God has given me the impossible dream is
03:38
I dream of a day when heretics like this will not be tolerated in the body of Christ at all.
03:46
And Terry Savelle Foy will go bankrupt and our father, Jerry Savelle will go bankrupt and Kenneth Copeland will have to get a job washing dishes at McDonald's.
03:56
It's so impossible that it's got to be from God, right? Yeah. That's how that works.
04:02
In other words, if you can pull this thing off without God, you're not dreaming big enough. A Bible verse, please.
04:10
Chapter in context, please. But when you look at your ideal future and you think, how in the world.
04:20
Got to ask the question. How exactly do I look at my ideal future?
04:27
Is it in the mirror? Where do I find this thing to look at? Yeah. OK. Hang on a second here.
04:34
We're going to give me a second here. We're going to see if I can find my ideal future. I'm looking.
04:45
I'm not seeing it. It's a bad idea. Take that back. Don't ever do that again.
04:51
OK. Let's see here. How does one see their ideal future?
04:57
Could this ever happen? And you think only God can make this happen. Then you've got the right dream.
05:03
See, God wants the credit. He wants your total dependency on him. I already totally depend on him, even if I don't recognize that.
05:15
I mean, every breath I take, it's his air and every breath I take. Those are his lungs that he created for me to breathe the air that he created.
05:25
Everything that ends up on my table is food. That all comes from God, too. And then, you know, let's talk about the clothes on my back, the roof over my head.
05:34
Yeah, I'm 100 % completely dependent on God, even if I don't recognize that fact. In fact, he wants to see your faith.
05:41
See, it's impossible to please God without faith, right? There it is. Hebrews 11 .6. Now, I'm going to back this up just a little bit so we can hear it in context.
05:50
But I want you to hear what she's saying here. Consider the implications. See, God wants the credit. He wants your total dependency on him.
05:58
In fact, he wants to see your faith. See, it's impossible to please God without faith, right? Okay.
06:06
Bible. We are going to take a look at Hebrews chapter 11. Hebrews chapter 11.
06:12
Now, this is the great whole of faith passage. And she was quoting a particular verse from Hebrews 11 out of context.
06:20
So let's consider what's being said here. Now, faith is the assurance of things hoped for. The conviction, or you can even say the certainty, of things that are not seen.
06:29
For by it, by faith, the people of old receive their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God.
06:37
Now, you're going to note here, by faith we know that this is the case. Why is it by faith? Because it's in the Bible.
06:42
You and I were not eyewitnesses of the creation itself. So having faith that God's word is true, and that God is telling us the truth and not lying to us, we then know that the universe was made, created by the word of God so that what is seen was not made out of the things that are visible.
06:59
Now, by faith then, Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain.
07:06
And by the way, if you ever wonder why is it that God didn't accept Cain's sacrifice, it's not because it was a salad.
07:12
Alright? There are actual grain offerings and fruit offerings in the Mosaic Covenant that are completely acceptable.
07:18
You'll note the difference then between Cain and Abel, then, is that Cain did not have faith.
07:24
Abel did. That's the distinction. So, by faith, Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous,
07:35
God commending him by accepting his gifts, and through his faith, though he died, he still speaks.
07:41
By faith, Enoch was taken up so that he should not be seen, and he was not found because God had taken him.
07:46
Now, before he was taken, he was commended as having pleased God. And now we're going to kind of get to the nubbins here.
07:53
How is it that Enoch was commended as having pleased God? Answer?
07:59
Without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to him must believe that he exists, and he rewards those who seek him.
08:08
So you'll note, then, that Hebrews 11 .6 is not talking about faith in general, or the faith that is able to do great exploits.
08:17
It's talking about the faith that results in you being justified before God.
08:24
You see, without faith, it's impossible to please God. They're talking about Abraham in Genesis 15.
08:29
Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. That's what's being discussed here.
08:36
Now, she's going to go on to talk about how, then, we're supposed to show God that we have faith.
08:42
Which, by the way, Ephesians 2 makes it clear that even faith is a gift that is given by God.
08:48
So why would I need to show him that I have it if he's the one who gave it to me? That doesn't make any sense.
08:54
But the other piece of all of this, then, is that this isn't the type of faith that then I have to dream bigger and believe
09:01
God for bigger and better. Because we'll note that as Hebrews 11 winds up, the implication of this saving faith will then result in people doing things that God has commanded them to do.
09:14
And so you'll note that different people from the Old Testament are invoked. And so we'll go to Hebrews 11, 32, and watch what it says.
09:23
So what more shall I say, for time would fail me to tell of Gideon, of Barak, of Samson, of Jephthah, of David, of Samuel, and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight, women received back their dead by resurrection.
09:51
And then you'll note the turn here. Watch the turn. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life.
10:02
Others suffered mocking and flogging, even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword, they went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated, of whom the world was not worthy.
10:17
So you can see here, then, that having saving faith, believing and trusting in God for the forgiveness of your sins, believing and trusting that His promises regarding your forgiveness and His mercy are true, then by faith, then you can do what?
10:34
Even suffer persecution, death, and martyrdom. And we're going to note that Terry Savelle Foy doesn't seem to be quite familiar with this concept of faith at all.
10:44
In fact, the faith that she's talking about will always result in, like, amazing, wealthy, prosperous things happening to you, rather than suffering.
10:55
But the faith that Hebrews 11 is talking about is not the same kind of faith that she's talking about.
11:01
So let's go back to Terry Savelle Foy as she kind of winds out this doctrine here. In fact, I've heard stories of Arnold Schwarzenegger, how he would cover his wall as a teenager living in Austria.
11:13
He would cover his wall with pictures of bodybuilders and strongmen and wrestlers. Can I ask a question here?
11:21
Is that Saint Arnold Schwarzenegger? I have to ask because I was not aware that he is an example of a person who professes faith in Christ.
11:34
Was he able to become a bodybuilder because God promised him that would be the case?
11:39
You're going to note here that apparently he exercised faith, saw the ideal vision of his future, but I have to ask the question, did
11:45
God show Arnold Schwarzenegger this ideal future? Why is she holding him up as an example that I need to follow?
11:53
Boxers. He said his parents thought he was crazy. They even hired a psychiatrist to analyze what was wrong with him.
12:01
He said, be concerned if people don't think you're crazy because you just might not be dreaming big enough.
12:08
So apparently Arnold Schwarzenegger has the kind of faith that pleases God. See, I think the worst day in heaven would be when
12:16
God gives you this glimpse of everything you could have had, you could have done, you could have been, but you didn't believe.
12:25
Where in scripture does it say God's going to do that with me? So I get to heaven, it's like, oh, I'm so glad to see you,
12:31
Jesus. Oh, praise the Lord. And Jesus sits there, he's tapping his toes, going, oh, man,
12:39
I'm so disappointed to see you, Rose, bro. What, what, what? You could have done so much more with your life if you had just believed more.
12:50
Let me show you what you could have had. I mean, behind door number three, okay, you chose door number one, which is the easy route.
12:58
You could have been the king of Siam, but no, you end up settling for North Dakota.
13:08
I'm sorry, I didn't know I was supposed to believe for being the king of Siam. Is Siam even a place anymore?
13:14
I didn't even know. So Ephesians 3 .20, if you think about that verse, it says, Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to his power that works in us.
13:30
Okay, now I know you've heard this verse used that way before. Why is this wrong?
13:38
Okay, so let's take a look at it out of context. By the way, what are the three rules for sound biblical exegesis?
13:44
They are context, context, and context. So let's go to Ephesians 3 .20,
13:49
shall we? And let's take a look at it out of context and see if we can see what's going on here because here's how this works.
13:57
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us.
14:06
To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever.
14:12
Amen. Notice anything weird about the grammar there? I mean, how many of you, when you're just like in your normal discourse with other human beings, you say, now to him who is able.
14:24
What do you mean to him who is able? You know what this sounds like to me? This sounds like the back end of a prayer.
14:33
Now to him who is able. It starts to sound like the back end of a prayer because that's what it is.
14:39
Let me explain. Now, note here, everybody, when they quote this thing out of context, see, there it is.
14:45
He's able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think or imagine. So are you believing for the big car, the land yacht, the mansion size house?
14:58
Is that what really this is all about? So watch the context here. Are you ready? Ephesians chapter 3 verse 1.
15:06
Ready? Here it is. For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, on behalf of you
15:16
Gentiles. Huh? Where was
15:21
Paul when he wrote this? Prison. What's he doing there?
15:29
How come he's not imagining for greater and all that God can think or imagine and stuffy and thingies?
15:36
I mean, why isn't he decreeing and declaring himself to be the head and not the tail? Why is he putting up with being in prison?
15:42
He should be springing himself out of the clink with his faith -filled words, you know? Yeah, so you know where Paul was writing this from?
15:51
Prison. So for this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, on behalf of you
15:58
Gentiles, assuming that you've heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly.
16:08
When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations, as it has been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the
16:19
Spirit. Now this mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
16:30
By the way, what is the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel? The forgiveness of your sins.
16:36
So of this gospel, of this good news, I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given to me by the working of his power.
16:44
To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to preach to the
16:50
Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Not the unsearchable riches of riches, but the unsearchable riches of Christ.
17:01
And to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
17:15
This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our
17:21
Lord, in whom we have boldness to access with confidence through our faith in him.
17:27
So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.
17:34
So again, note again, Paul says he's writing from prison, and he's telling them to not lose heart over the fact that he has been made to suffer, and he's suffering on their behalf.
17:45
You see, for this reason then I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory, he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his
17:57
Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, the length, the height, and the depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all fullness of God.
18:22
So note here, he wants you to know the riches of Christ. He wants you to comprehend the breadth, and the length, and the height of Christ's love, and his mercy, and his grace, and in the knowledge of him.
18:33
That's what he's talking about here. And so that was his prayer. So you'll note that he says that, for this reason
18:41
I bow my knees before the Father. Aha, see, he's praying, from whom every family in heaven on earth is named.
18:49
And so this is a prayer that he's praying on their behalf, and also on yours, right?
18:54
So having been rooted and grounded in love, that you may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, the length, the height, and the depth, to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all fullness of God.
19:09
And how do all good prayers end? Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly in what?
19:15
In granting you knowledge and his depth of his mercy, and grace, and love. And far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work that is within us, to him be the glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.
19:31
Amen. Now you know. That's the tail end of a prayer. The prayer itself begins in verse 14.
19:40
And the context is the fact that Paul is in prison. He's suffering.
19:45
He doesn't want them to lose heart. And he's praying on their behalf that they may be strengthened in their love for Christ, in their confidence in the promises of his love and mercy, and growing in their depth and understanding and knowledge of Jesus.
19:59
So to him be all glory. Amen. You get the idea. So that's really what that text is about.
20:06
But note how Terry Savelle Foy took it out of context. We continue.
20:12
So let me just give you a little note here. Okay. That tug on your heart is there for a reason.
20:18
God's trying to say step into this. No. No. I'm not having any tugs on my heart, and God's not trying to tell me to step into things.
20:29
Usually when I step into something, I have to wipe it off. My shoes. I was thinking about how last summer
20:35
I did the very opposite of what I tell you all to do. I was vague about my dream house.
20:41
In fact, I put a photo. Oh, she was struggling to practice what she preaches, folks.
20:49
She was vague about her dream house. I got to say this.
20:55
On the podcast, the intro music we use for her is the I'm a Barbie girl music.
21:02
So does that mean that she was dreaming for her Barbie dream house? You know, just asking.
21:08
Of lakefront property on my vision board. And we almost closed on this one acre lot, which was nice.
21:14
No complaints. It was amazing. But one day. Oh, could you imagine having to mow one acre?
21:23
No, thank you. Now we're driving. And he just brought up this 25 acre lot that was for sale.
21:29
And he said, man, I wish the owner would just divide the land up and give us just a portion.
21:34
Like we could buy a portion of it because we don't need 25 acres. Then we both said, now that would be the ultimate.
21:41
Well, the very next day in prayer one morning, before we closed on the one acre lot, I just heard the
21:47
Lord say, I'm not the God of close enough. I'm the God of all that you desire, plus more than enough.
21:57
Yeah, Terry. So let me help you out here. The deity that was talking to you. That wasn't the triune
22:03
God. The deity that was talking to you. That's the devil. The God of this world.
22:09
Yeah. So just saying. So when you hear voices like that, run. Flee. Turn it off.
22:16
Ask God not to let that voice talk to you ever again. Because that's not the God. That's not
22:22
Yahweh talking to you. That's not the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit. That's the devil talking to you.
22:28
And so you'll know. By the way, when somebody says to you, and I heard God say, I'm not the God of close enough. And all this kind of nonsense.
22:34
Okay. Run. The person who is talking to you is demonized or hearing from the devil or they're
22:40
Looney Tunes crazy. But the one thing you can rule out immediately is that they are not hearing from God.
22:48
You can just say, I know that for a fact. So whatever is going to come next, run away. I mean, all the major cults, by the way, all of them have begun with people claiming to have received direct revelation from God or the angelic.
23:02
Let me give you an example. Are you ready? Islam. Mormonism. Okay. Just saying, even the
23:09
Jehovah's Witnesses have claims to direct revelation and things like that. So all the major cults, the thing they all have in common is claims that they're receiving direct revelation from God.
23:19
And you'll note, she thinks her experience is on par with Scripture. She thinks that the voice that she hears in her head is on par with Scripture.
23:29
This is a woman. She's not teaching Christianity. In fact, I have no reason whatsoever to believe she's a sister in Christ.
23:36
That's how far off she is. Wait till you hear it. It gets worse. Did you hear that? He is not the
23:42
God of close enough. He's the God of all that you desire plus more than enough. Then I just felt like God was asking me, what is your ultimate dream?
23:52
So she was being chastised for almost being willing to settle for an acre of lakefront property in Texas.
23:59
So I wrote it down. I wrote a long, windy driveway, tree covered land, a private entrance, land to landscape, a house close to the water.
24:09
I just started getting specific. Two days later, the guy selling the 25 acres decided to divide his land up.
24:17
And are you ready for this? We got eight acres, long, windy entrance, tree covered.
24:23
We can build a house close to the water and it costs less than the one acre we almost bought.
24:30
How much money do you think that's going to run her? The one that was close enough. Only God can do that.
24:37
Remember, he's not the God. Yeah, I seem to remember. When Jesus was being tempted by the devil, he showed him all the kingdoms of the world and said,
24:47
I'll give you all of this if you'll just worship me. Yeah. So, no, I'm pretty sure the devil can give you that too.
24:52
He's the God of close enough. He's the God of all that you desire plus more than enough. Really, the
24:58
God of all that I desire. Notice here, there's apparently every desire that you have is truly a godly one.
25:06
She makes no distinction between sinful desires and holy desires.
25:12
And what she's describing here kind of sounds like worldly greed to me, which is a sinful desire.
25:19
So get very specific about what you dream. Don't be vague. Another sign I believe God is asking you to trust him more is when you're asked to do more than the average person is willing to do.
25:33
See, if you really want to kick it up, do more than what everybody else is willing to do. Everyone look busy.
25:40
Jesus will be here soon. See, something powerful happens when you do things other people aren't willing to do.
25:47
Is this prosperity by works? This sounds like prosperity by works.
25:54
Uh huh. You start to believe you should be able to have things that other people aren't willing to have. I need to believe that I should have things that other people are not willing to have.
26:09
Wow. Wow. We see this throughout the Bible. People who got a breakthrough, they did extra.
26:17
You know, when you read the Bible closely, you discover a pattern that the majority of people who received a miracle from God, they went way beyond the average.
26:28
You know, think about the... What? How about Lazarus?
26:35
You know, he just sat there moldering, you know, as a corpse for four days. He did above and beyond.
26:41
In fact, when his sister showed up, they chewed Jesus out. If you'd come earlier, he would have died.
26:47
You know, what are you talking about? Okay. Now, you'll note here, miraculous breakthrough via earning it.
26:58
This is a form of self -righteousness. By the way, this is ruled out by Scripture. Let me give you a text.
27:04
Galatians chapter 3. The entire book of Galatians is dedicated to the idea that you don't receive things from God by earning them.
27:12
You couldn't even if you tried because you're sinful. Okay, so salvation and even the gifts of God are all given as a gift, and they are received by faith, which is not a work.
27:25
Okay, so Paul chastising the churches in Galatia for thinking that their salvation is based upon works and grace says this,
27:34
O foolish Galatians, whose bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.
27:40
So let me ask you this. Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
27:48
Are you so foolish having begun by the Spirit? Are you now being perfected by the flesh?
27:54
Did you suffer so many things in vain if indeed it was in vain? Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
28:05
Just as Abraham believed God and it was counted or credited to him as righteousness.
28:11
So note here, she's saying that God's blessings, you need to do more than the average person in order to receive them from God.
28:23
And that when you're doing more, you should expect that you'll be given more.
28:30
No text says this. This is, this is wow. Let me back this up just a little bit because this is breathtakingly blasphemous.
28:39
Here we go. About the Bible, people who got a breakthrough, they did extra. You know, when you read the
28:45
Bible closely, you discover a pattern that the majority of people who received a miracle from God, they went way beyond the average.
28:54
You know, think about the woman with the issue of blood. She was totally aggressive. She wasn't even supposed to be in public.
29:01
Aggressive. Aggressive. She snuck in behind Jesus because she wasn't supposed to be in public.
29:09
That wasn't aggressiveness. And she was marching her way through the crowd saying, if I could touch the hem of his garment,
29:15
I know I'll be healed. She aggressively fought her way through. And what Jesus said, who touched me?
29:20
And he healed the woman. No, he healed the woman. And because he realized power went out from him.
29:27
And so he stopped and asked who touched me. This is so twisted. Think about blind Bartimaeus.
29:33
He heard Jesus was coming by. He started shouting, Jesus, have mercy on me. People told him, shh, be quiet.
29:40
And what did he do? He shouted. He shouted even louder. So he earned his eyesight by shouting louder.
29:51
He shouted even louder. And it got Jesus' attention. And he healed him.
29:57
Yeah, you know, I do recall that Prophet Elijah told the prophets of Baal that they should shout louder in order to get
30:04
Baal's attention because maybe he's asleep. So should we have that same attitude towards Jesus? Hey, Jesus!
30:11
I need eight acres of lakefront property, Jesus! Hey! Will that earn me that by me just being more aggressive and trying to get his attention?
30:22
You think about another example is in Mark 2. We see some aggressive faith when those four men took their sick friend to meet
30:31
Jesus. They carried a grown man in a stretcher across town. They got to the house.
30:37
It was so crowded they couldn't get in. They didn't just assume, well, must not be
30:42
God's will because the door is closed. No, they climbed on top of the house. They tore off the shingles, lowered the man in front of Jesus.
30:49
And Jesus even said, or the Bible says, when Jesus saw their faith, he healed the man.
30:56
What was he looking at? Well, actually, you forgot a step. Yeah, let me point this out.
31:01
Mark 2. Yeah, no, she's reading.
31:08
This is, by the way, called eisegesis. She's reading her theology into these texts. She's not reading this theology out of these biblical texts.
31:17
Here's what it says. Mark 2. When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home.
31:23
By the way, this was Jesus' house in Capernaum where this took place. Many were gathered together so that there was no room, not even at the door.
31:34
He was preaching the word to them. And they came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.
31:40
And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him. And when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay.
31:51
And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Son, your sins are forgiven. Yeah, you'll note that Jesus took care of the real problem that he really had.
32:02
Being paralyzed wasn't even close to the real problem that fellow had. The problem that he had is the same problem you and I have.
32:12
We're sinners. And you'll note that Jesus gives him the thing he needs the most, the forgiveness of his sins.
32:20
And you'll note he was saved by his faith. Now, of course, some people got really uppity about this, so some of the scribes who were sitting there questioned in their hearts, why does this man speak like that?
32:33
He's blaspheming. Who can forgive sins except for God alone? Yeah, so immediately
32:41
Jesus perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, he said to them, why do you question these things in your hearts?
32:48
Which is easier to say to the paralytic, your sins are forgiven, or say, rise and take your bed and walk?
32:54
Now, I'm going to go with, it's a lot easier to say to somebody your sins are forgiven than to say, rise and take up your bed and walk, because nobody can see if somebody's sins are forgiven by just examining with their eyeballs.
33:07
And so you know, he says, which is easier to say? And then he says this, so that you may know that the
33:12
Son of Man has authority to forgive sins, he said to the paralytic, I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.
33:20
And he did. He rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them. And they were all amazed and glorified
33:26
God saying, we have never seen anything like this. And you're going to note that Jesus totally, how do
33:34
I put this? He just completely circumvents the need to go to the temple in order to be forgiven.
33:40
He just forgives sins directly. And so I read a story like this and I go, well,
33:46
I'm not a paralytic. You know, I might be getting old. I'm not a paralytic.
33:52
I mean, I still have something of my health left, maybe a few years left to go, I don't know. But I can tell you this, the thing
34:00
I need from Jesus is the forgiveness of my sins. And there's something very comforting about knowing that Jesus has the authority to forgive sins.
34:11
Because that's what I need from him, and so do you, even if you're not a paralytic, and even if you are.
34:16
So note Terri Savelle Foy, she just reads into this, oh, this is all about aggressive faith and them earning!
34:23
You see, they should expect more because they got Jesus' attention. That's what we're seeing is faith in action.
34:29
These guys trusted Christ. That's the thing that mattered. All right, coming back.
34:36
He was looking at their action. They're willing to do what most people would never do. See, the
34:41
Bible says faith without action is dead. So let me... What?
34:47
James says faith without works is dead, not action. Works is like what you do for your neighbor.
34:56
There's no such thing as a Christian who does not do good works for his neighbor's sake.
35:02
You sit there and go, I'm saved by grace through faith apart from works, so therefore I don't ever have to do works.
35:08
What are you talking about? James says just like the body that is not breathing is dead, faith without works is dead.
35:18
It's not talking about... she changed it to action. She has no justification for that whatsoever.
35:24
Wow, this is blasphemous. Let me ask you, can Jesus see your faith, your action today?
35:31
Are you doing more than the average person is willing to do? See, years ago in prayer, the
35:37
Lord said to me, don't be average and your life won't be average. She actually put that on the screen.
35:43
The Lord said to me, don't be average and your life won't be average. Tack that onto the back of your
35:49
Bible, folks. We're going to call this the Epistle of Savelle Foy. I don't know what to call it.
35:55
Is this foyism that we're listening to? This isn't Christianity. You don't be average and your ministry won't be average.
36:01
Your career, your salary, your relationships, your house won't be average if you refuse to be average yourself.
36:08
And do you know what? Our ministry has grown 50 % year over year. Oh yeah, she practices what she preaches.
36:15
The reason why your ministry grows at the rate it does is because you scratch itching ears and you tell people what they want to hear rather than telling them the truth.
36:22
That's not average, is it? Thank you, Jesus. What is the average person doing? Well, while the average person watches four to six hours of TV a day, you don't.
36:33
You turn it off and go read for 20 minutes. While the average person listens to music on their way to work, you listen to a motivational message that's going to cause you to grow.
36:43
Or while the average person oversleeps 30 minutes every morning, that's factual, you get up earlier and go spend time with God.
36:50
Invest in yourself. You know, read a book, listen to podcasts, go for a walk. See, all this above average work, it begins to shift your identity.
37:01
And you subconsciously begin to believe that you deserve to be rewarded in ways others aren't.
37:10
Is this straight up works righteousness? This is unvarnished, straight up works righteousness.
37:19
Well, God, I'm doing more than the average person now. I gave up watching Netflix four hours a day.
37:26
And so I started reading motivational books and things. So God, you got to bless me and reward me more.
37:37
Wow, this is not Christianity. This is just straight up works righteousness. Because you're doing things others won't do.
37:44
So let me just point out, you can do more than you think you can. And the third way that I believe
37:51
God is telling you, trust me more. Are you ready for this one? Anyone want to take any wagers on what's coming next?
37:59
Let me kind of put it to you this way. In the word of faith heresy, what is the quintessential way in which you demonstrate to God that you have faith in him for more?
38:14
Yeah, money. Here we go. Is when you're asked to give a memorable offering.
38:21
And she's holding up an oversized Benjamin Franklin $100 bill there.
38:27
So you got to prove to God by, you know, giving a really big size memorial offering.
38:33
Whatever that means to you. Now, I'm only telling you what God told me. No, you're not. God didn't tell you this.
38:40
No, he didn't. This is one of the biggest ways God asked us to trust him more. You know, most of you have heard me.
38:46
Yeah. See, she's just bought eight acres of Lakefront property.
38:52
She's got a huge mortgage now, and they've got to build a house on this property.
38:57
So you've got to demonstrate to God that you have faith to believe for abundantly more.
39:05
And you've got to earn it by you're doing more and stuff. And that means sending large, copious amounts of your cash to Terry Savelle Foy.
39:15
That'll prove to God that you have faith. This is sick. Say that you may not have what you need.
39:22
Like a farmer may not have what he needs, but you're never without the seed that will produce it.
39:28
Right. So your money is a seed that will produce. Uh -huh. What? This is nonsense. Well, this is the tool that breaks the devil's back.
39:38
No, it isn't. No text says that. You can't read your way into a breakthrough.
39:43
You can't listen your way into a breakthrough, but you can give your way into a breakthrough. My head hurts.
39:54
This is utter blasphemy. I mean, this is an example of teaching for shameful gain what ought not to be taught.
40:04
And why is she doing this? Because she just bought a large piece of property on a lakefront in Texas.
40:14
Do I need to go on? Let's just go on just a little bit. You know, recently I experienced this very thing.
40:20
I went through my own experience of having my dreams delayed, and it seemed like nothing. Oh, no.
40:26
Are you having your dreams delayed? Oh, write a big check now, quick, and your dreams will stop being delayed.
40:33
They'll start showing up on time. Nothing I was praying for was happening. Well, on July 26, it dawned on me that I hadn't given, like given a seed, an offering.
40:44
And I know the principle of sowing and reaping. You can't expect a harvest if you don't sow. So, I mean, all of her prayers were just going unanswered.
40:52
All of her breakthroughs were being delayed. She was falling behind on the mortgage payment on that eight acres.
40:59
And, oh, and she realized, ah, I forgot to give a large memorial seed offering. Sow a seed, right?
41:06
Well, I got the checkbook out, and I gave. But to be honest, it wasn't memorable.
41:13
It wasn't enough. No, it was paltry amount.
41:19
She didn't give enough in order to receive a bazillion dollars. It didn't affect me at all. It was basically forgettable.
41:26
But it's still seed in the ground, and that counts. Well, when you're believing for a breakthrough, you need to sow a breakthrough seed.
41:32
If you want a small change, sow a small seed. You want significant change, sow a significant seed.
41:40
You want significant change in your life. You can buy your miracles from God, apparently. May your money perish with you because you thought you can purchase the gifts of God.
41:51
This is utter blasphemy, utter blasphemy. So, what did you think?
42:01
Yeah, if you'd like to let us know what you think, leave a comment down below.
42:06
Again, this is just blasphemous. Now, I'm going to just end there and basically say this.
42:12
God's gifts are freak because they're gifts. Nowhere in Scripture are we told that God's going to delay answering your prayers until you write a significantly sized check to anybody, including me, by the way.
42:27
So, I'll kind of point this out. One of my critics from time to time says, Man, you criticize people like Terry Seville Foy for saying that you're going to get blessings by sending a check to them and then you end your program by saying if you'd like to support us financially, you can.
42:41
See, you're a hypocrite. No, I'm not. I can't do what I'm doing and serving the body of Christ without the resources to do so.
42:50
And I promise you that if you send us any kind of financial support, God's not going to sit there and go, well, now
42:56
I'm finally going to answer your prayers and stuff. This is nonsense. The thing I can promise you is that if you support us financially, that we'll keep doing what we're doing because we're able to afford to keep doing what we're doing and serving the body of Christ.
43:09
So, kind of point that out, because over and again we get that kind of criticism.
43:15
But let's say this. God's gifts are free. God meets your needs out of the fact that He is your
43:23
Father in Heaven. In fact, God causes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust in this life.
43:29
You'll notice that there are plenty of pagans out there, plenty of people who embrace false religions, other religions, who are quite wealthy, and even atheists who are quite wealthy.
43:42
And I can think of a particular billionaire who's also known for his immorality, who's actually quite wealthy.
43:49
Powerful man that he is. And so you'll note that God's gifts are not for sale.
43:55
They are not. And so when we come to God with our needs and we pray,
44:01
Lord God, Heavenly Father, I'm in need. I need my daily bread. I need the things in order to feed myself and my family and all these kinds of things.
44:09
You think God sits there and goes, No, well, prove to me that you have faith that I can meet your needs.
44:15
Write a big check and send it to Terry Savelle Foy, and that'll show me that you can. And then finally, I'll take care of you.
44:21
No, absolutely not. God takes care of our needs because of his fatherly goodness.
44:27
He's the creator of us all. And so when we pray, give us this day our daily bread, we note that God does already do that.
44:36
But what we're praying is that we recognize that this comes from the hand of God and that we give him thanks and praise for all the ways in which he does meet our needs.
44:45
And I'll note this, that over and again, when we pray as Christ has taught us to pray, we're not praying for groceries for a year.
44:53
We're praying for daily bread. And so when God answers your prayer and gives you what you need, and maybe not even a penny more, that's still a blessing and it comes from the hand of God and you are not cursed.
45:07
Because of that, you are blessed. Think of all the people that live on this planet who go day after day without food.
45:14
Day after day. And so when you have the ability to have food in your stomach, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, it doesn't matter how worn down those things are.
45:28
They come from the hand of God. And he promises to meet your needs.
45:33
And Christ tells you to call out to him. And he knows that you need all of these things.
45:39
So seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, Christ says in the Sermon on the
45:44
Mount. And his righteousness is a gift given by grace through faith. And all these things will be added unto you because your
45:49
Heavenly Father knows that you need them. And he loves you because he is your
45:54
Heavenly Father. So, I think you get the idea. If you found this helpful, all the information on how you can share the video is down below in the description.
46:03
And I do remind you that we are truly supported by the people that we serve, and that's you.
46:09
And if you find this ministry to be helpful, then please consider supporting us. All the information on how you can become a crew member is down below.
46:17
And we started doing something, and that's this. I have a hobby, one that I've had for a while now.
46:24
I'm a photographer. And so anybody who joins our crew at Gunners Mate or above, through January, we will send you one of my photographs.
46:34
This is All Things London, and I was there for the Private Christian Radio Conference earlier this year.
46:42
And so everybody who joins up at Gunners Mate or above, I will send you, as my way of saying thank you, a copy of one of my fine art photographs.
46:50
Until next time, may God richly bless you in the grace and mercy won by Jesus Christ and His vicarious death on the cross for all of your sins.
