Welcome to the teaching ministry of Kungsvinger Lutheran Church. Kungsvinger is a beacon for the gospel of Jesus Christ and is located on the plains of northwestern
00:18
Minnesota. We proclaim Christ and Him crucified for our sins and salvation by grace through faith alone.
00:25
And now, here's a message from Pastor Chris Roseberg. The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the 7th chapter.
00:36
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
00:43
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
00:49
Now this He said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive.
00:55
For as yet the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. This is the gospel of the
01:01
Lord. In the name of Jesus. Amen. Alright, here are the words of our Lord from our gospel text today.
01:08
If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the
01:13
Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. It's important to note here, based upon how much confusion there is because of Pentecostalism, Jesus is not talking about rivers of cuckoo juice flowing from inside of you, which would make you lose control of yourself.
01:31
Instead, rivers of living water, the text specifically says, are a reference to the Holy Spirit. And it's with that in mind that we should consider what is happening in our second reading today from the book of Acts, the great day of Pentecost, and Peter's use of the prophet
01:49
Joel's prophecy from Joel chapter 2. What are we to make of it? Because it makes it sound like every single one of us can prophesy.
01:59
And you know what? It's true. Now, I will note here, at the end of the sermon, we will not be having you sign up for Jennifer LeClaire's School of the
02:08
Prophets. There will be no prophetic activations today either. In fact, if you understand what is meant here when it talks about everybody, man, woman, slave, free,
02:19
Jew, Gentile, all prophesying, you'll recognize something important. By the end of this, hopefully the
02:26
Scriptures will convince you all that many of you, if not all of you, have already been doing that. Because there is a true sense in which we all prophesy.
02:35
And you'll note then, it says also in our Gospel text, that the Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus was not yet glorified.
02:44
When you read the Old Testament, in fact, our Old Testament text today is super helpful in this regard, you'll note that people having the
02:51
Holy Spirit on them was a rarity. It was not a common thing. And even in our
02:57
Old Testament text today, the 70 elders who received a portion of the Spirit that was on Moses, and what
03:03
Spirit would that be? The Holy Spirit. They didn't prophesy or continue to prophesy for very long.
03:10
There were two holdovers, Eldad and Medad, sons of Yodad.
03:18
I gotcha. Sorry for the interruption.
03:25
That was gratuitous pastor jokes. Eldad and Medad, the two holdovers, they were still prophesying.
03:34
And you'll note that people were thinking, we've got to put an end to this. We've got to stop this. We've got to control this.
03:40
And so they went to Joshua and told Joshua, and then Joshua comes and tells
03:45
Moses what's going on. He says, my Lord Moses, stop them! As if you can stop the
03:52
Holy Spirit anyway. That's not going to work, by the way. So Moses says these words, are you jealous for my sake?
04:00
Would that all the Lord's people were prophets. Ah, that's a good one. Would that all the
04:06
Lord's people were prophets. But isn't that true of all of us as Christians?
04:11
Now I'm not talking about the office of prophet. That office is closed, by the way.
04:17
God spoke to us in the past by the prophets and the apostles. Actually the prophets of old, and then he's spoken to us by the apostles.
04:24
But none of us are those things. Oh, would that all my people were prophets. And what were
04:30
Eldad and Medad doing? They were prophesying. They were telling people about the wonders of God. Think of Eldad and Medad kind of as a down payment on what was going to be happening on the day of Pentecost.
04:41
And Moses basically said, no, I wish everybody, everybody would prophesy that the
04:47
Lord's spirit would be on all people. And that's the big promise that we have is that Christ would send the
04:53
Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit would be given without measure to every Christian regardless of their heritage, regardless of their gender, regardless of their social status.
05:03
This is absolutely most certainly true. And so we consider then what is written for us in the book of Acts.
05:11
It says when the day of Pentecost arrived, all the Christians, there's only 120 of them, are all together in one place.
05:18
And suddenly, there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind. It filled the entire house where they were sitting and divided tongues as a fire appeared to them and rested on each of them.
05:30
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
05:37
And we know from this text, this wasn't gibberish. This wasn't what passes for tongues today.
05:43
I remember last week in the men's Bible study, I showed the guys a historical bit of information.
05:51
Back, was it 1901? January of 1901, there was a woman who was attending
05:58
Charles Parham's church. And it is written in the annals of Pentecost history, she is the first person to receive since the time of the apostles the gift of tongues.
06:11
And she apparently couldn't speak English for three whole days and was even given the ability to write in Chinese.
06:19
And there was an actual document, there was a scan, a photograph of this document of hers where she wrote in Chinese.
06:26
And, yeah, it's embarrassing. No Chinese scholars are studying this document today and going, wow, what a miracle.
06:35
But you'll note that what passes for tongues today, coulda bought a Hyundai, shoulda bought a
06:40
Kia, that's not a language. That's something totally different.
06:48
And so those who were dwelling in Jerusalem, who were in town because God had commanded them to be there for the feast of Pentecost, they were all hearing, as the text says, that they were hearing in their own tongues the mighty works of God.
07:05
And it goes on to even give us a list of the languages that these Christians, by the power of the
07:11
Holy Spirit, were speaking in. And it includes Parthenians and Medes, Elamites, residents of Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus in Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt and parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both
07:27
Jews and Proselytes, Cretans and Arabians, we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.
07:34
They knew exactly what they were saying. And you'll note here, in proclaiming the mighty works of God, they were truly prophesying.
07:50
Right? Yes. That's exactly what they were doing. Now, a little bit of a reminder.
07:56
Jesus, in the Gospel of John, in chapters 14, 15, and 16, explains to us what the
08:04
Holy Spirit will do and why the Holy Spirit will be sent.
08:10
And so Jesus says in chapter 14 of the Gospel of John, verse 15, If you love
08:15
Me, you will guard, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another
08:22
Helper to be with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth. Now stop for a second here.
08:28
Don't let these words not have any strong value in your mind.
08:35
The Holy Spirit here, Jesus is referring to Him as what? The Spirit of Truth.
08:43
And one of the things I can say about so many so -called manifestations of the Holy Spirit today is that those manifestations don't come with truth.
08:53
They come with lies. And you'll note that even the great enemies of the church, including the atheists, are paying attention.
09:00
Bill Johnson, back a few months ago, was speaking at a church, I think in Missouri. It was part of a conference that they were having there.
09:09
This is the same conference where Bill Johnson let everybody know that if anybody attends the
09:14
Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, they can't even pass to the next grade after a certain level unless they've given three false prophecies.
09:23
That is on record. You'll note that Jesus Christ could have never graduated from Hogwarts because, well,
09:32
Jesus never once spoke a false prophecy. In fact, none of the prophets of the
09:37
Old Testament could pass the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry because none of them gave false prophecies either.
09:43
Not the true prophets of God. But you'll note the Spirit of Truth is the one spoken of here.
09:50
But talking about the atheists and their condemnations of so -called Christians, there was a woman there at this conference who claimed that during the conference
10:00
God miraculously healed her. It just so happens that she had, I think it was diabetes, and as a result of an advanced case of diabetes, she lost some of her toes.
10:11
And so she claims that God grew her toes back during the healing portion of the conference.
10:19
But the atheists, Johnny on the spot, decided that they were gonna challenge this and they put an entire website together and even got some national media and their campaign was called
10:28
Show Us the Toes. Show us the toes. We want to see them.
10:35
Let's see these toes that have grown back. And guess what? No photos of the grown back toes are forthcoming despite all the pressure.
10:43
You wanna know why? Because the spirit that operates in so many of these churches isn't the Spirit of Truth, it's the Spirit of Error.
10:50
And that's a different spirit altogether. And Jesus says that when the Holy Spirit comes he is the Spirit of Truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him nor knows him.
11:01
But you know him for he dwells with you and he will be with you. You'll note here, all of you that are baptized penitent believers in Jesus Christ, you now since Pentecost, you have the
11:14
Holy Spirit. You don't have to worry. So they go, well I don't speak in gibberish. Right, that's not a sign of the Holy Spirit.
11:19
Right, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you. And Jesus says I will not leave you as orphans. Those who claim that Christians didn't have the
11:26
Holy Spirit from about the death of the apostles until Charles Parham showed up and the Azusa Street Revival occurred in Los Angeles back in the early 20th century would basically accuse
11:37
Jesus wrongfully of leaving the Christian church as complete orphans. Because apparently as the story goes, read it in one of the eyewitness accounts of the
11:48
Azusa Street Revival. The claim is that the Holy Spirit left the church because the Holy Spirit was grieved by what had happened in the church because the church got organized.
11:59
The Holy Spirit was opposed to pastors and there being ecclesiology and liturgy and things like this.
12:05
So the Holy Spirit was grieved by all of this and disappeared and just abandoned the church altogether until the
12:11
Azusa Street Revival. It's just a nonsensical narrative if you think about it.
12:17
Jesus on the other hand says, I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you. You had a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me.
12:25
Because I live, you will also live. And in that day you will know that I am in the
12:32
Father and you in me and I in you and whoever has my commandments keeps them. It is he who loves me.
12:38
And he who loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and manifest myself to him. And Judas of course is not included in this.
12:47
But he goes on to say, these things I have spoken to you while I am still with you, but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the
12:53
Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
13:01
Important to note that one of the jobs of the Holy Spirit was to help the apostles to remember correctly the things that Jesus said and did.
13:13
I remember Dr. Rod Rosenblatt kind of jumping off of a movie at the time that was in the theaters and it was not a very good movie,
13:21
Total Recall, an Art Schwarz. He says that this is the promise of the
13:26
Holy Spirit to bring to the apostles' mind the gift of total recall. And I thought, okay,
13:32
I'll go with it. And so all these decades later still using it as a metaphor. I think it makes sense. And so you'll note that this is what
13:39
Christ promises. Again, nothing about cuckoo juice or strange things like that. And then in chapter 15, it says, but when the helper comes whom
13:47
I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, note the redundancy important, who proceeds from the
13:55
Father, he will bear witness about me.
14:01
He will bear witness about me. A good way to think of that is that the
14:07
Holy Spirit isn't about drawing attention to himself. The Holy Spirit, I've heard it said and still use this metaphor, he's the ultimate
14:16
PR guy for Jesus Christ. His one and only job is to have you hear the great wonders of God that God has done through Jesus Christ.
14:27
And so the Holy Spirit bears witness about Jesus. If you were to meet the
14:32
Holy Spirit and have a chat with him and say, hey, Holy Spirit, nice to meet you. He'd say, hey, it's great to meet you.
14:37
Can I tell you about Jesus? Jesus is the best thing ever.
14:43
Oh my goodness, his love, his mercy, his grace. Did you know that he bled and died for you on the cross?
14:48
The Holy Spirit is all about that, right? And so he will bear witness about me and you also, listen to what
14:58
Jesus says in chapter 15, verse 27. You also will bear witness because you've been with me from the beginning.
15:06
And isn't that what the apostles did? They bore witness about Christ. And then in chapter 16,
15:14
Jesus goes on to talk more about the work of the Holy Spirit. I did not say these things to you from the beginning because I was with you, but now
15:23
I'm going to him who sent me. And none of you have asked me where you are going, but because I've said these things, you have sorrow that has filled your heart.
15:30
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away. If I do not go away, the helper will not come.
15:38
But if I go, I will send him to you.
15:44
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment, concerning sin because they do not believe in me, concerning righteousness because I go to the
15:55
Father and you will see me no longer, concerning judgment because the ruler of this world is judged.
16:02
And so the Spirit of truth, when he arrives, he convicts the world of sin and unbelief and righteousness and causes people to proclaim the wonders of God.
16:15
This is most certainly true. But now we get to our text from the book of Acts.
16:21
And in the book of Acts, we have some things that we've got to deal with and that is namely to begin with this prophecy of Joel, but I need to put it in context first.
16:32
So the day of Acts, we've already talked about how it has arrived. People are speaking in tongues. People from all over the world are hearing the wonders, the mighty works of God in their own languages, wondering what this means.
16:45
And well, some of them said they were mocking and said, well, they've got to be filled with new wine.
16:51
And Peter stands up to put that slander down. Standing with the eleven, he lifted up his voice and addressed them,
16:57
Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you. Give ear to my words for these people are not drunk as you suppose since it's only the third hour of the day.
17:05
I know it's 5 p .m. somewhere, but not in Jerusalem this morning. Right? That's the point that he's making.
17:12
But this is what was uttered to the prophet Joel. And watch how he handles this text. In the last days.
17:21
How long ago was this? We're almost 2 ,000 years on from this event.
17:29
In the last days. What does that tell you about when the last days began? We've been in them for 2 ,000 years.
17:38
This is why I keep thinking Thursday's the day. How long can this continue to drag on?
17:45
So the last days. In the last days, it shall be God declares, I will pour out my
17:50
Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.
17:58
Does this mean your sons and daughters will be prophets that will be placed into the office of prophet,
18:03
Ken Copeland style? Remember when Ken Copeland said, Speaking from the office of the prophet, COVID -19,
18:10
I command you to come down. This is nonsense, right? There's nobody in the office of prophet today.
18:17
But you're going to note something here. And that is that this isn't talking about that kind of prophecy.
18:25
It's not talking about what Nostradamus did. I heard a pastor recently invoke
18:31
Nostradamus in this context. By the way, people, the world, they refer to Nostradamus as what?
18:37
A prophet. Belogna, okay? Did Nostradamus ever tell anybody about the great wonders and mighty works of God, call sinners to repent of their sins and trust in their crucified and risen
18:50
Savior who loved them so much that he laid down their life for them? No.
18:57
Nostradamus would take a little too much nutmeg and have hallucinations and write down the things that he saw in his hallucinogenic state.
19:06
I didn't know you can do that with nutmeg, but apparently so. He's not a prophet. He's a fortune teller.
19:13
He's a future seer, right? That's what he is. He's not a prophet, and prophecy has nothing to do with being future seers.
19:22
If you want to know what the prophets sound like, read Isaiah. Read Jeremiah.
19:29
We worked our whole way through the book of Jeremiah not too long ago. Did any of them sound like Nostradamus to you?
19:36
Did Jeremiah sound, not at all. We're going to be working our way through the minor prophets during the summer, and I can assure you, when you hear the minor prophets, you know what they sound like?
19:45
A bunch of guys calling a bunch of sinners to repentance, assuring them of the forgiveness of their sins if they'll abandon their idolatry and their tepid worship.
19:55
Some of them are a little more fiery than others. I think of Amos. When we get to that, you guys remember famous Amos cookies?
20:03
Is that still a thing? Whenever I hear the word Amos, I cannot help but think about chocolatey goodness, but when you read the prophet
20:11
Amos, that's the last thing that's going to come to your mind. Reading Amos is like invoking hellfire and brimstone.
20:18
This guy just doesn't hold anything back. But you're going to know, he sounds nothing like any of the
20:24
YouTube prophets today. And do the YouTube prophets today proclaim the mighty works of God?
20:31
In each and every episode of Prophecy Bingo that we've played, I've never heard any of these people proclaiming the mighty works of God.
20:41
Instead, they sound like people who need to be locked up because they're a threat to themselves and others because they're not mentally stable.
20:47
That's what they sound like. But the prophets of the Bible, they don't sound like prognosticators or fortune tellers or soothsayers.
20:57
And yes, there are prophecies spattered throughout the prophets regarding the future, but those are the little things in the scriptures, not the big things.
21:06
The big things is the call to repentance. So in what way then are we to understand here this prophecy of Amos that sons and daughters, that they're all going to prophesy?
21:18
Well, I can't think of a better way to understand this than what is written in 1
21:23
Peter 4. Here's what he says in verse 7. The end of all things is at hand.
21:29
Does that sound like the end of days to you? The last days? Yes. Note similar theme. The end of all things is at hand.
21:34
Therefore, be self -controlled. Be sober -minded.
21:44
Hmm. Self -controlled, sober -minded. Those are not things that we can say that Pentecostals are known for, right?
21:51
But that's what true Christians who have the Holy Spirit are called to do. And you do this for the sake of your prayers.
21:57
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly. Let that one sink in for a second.
22:05
I can tell you this from experience. Pretending to speak gibberish and saying that that's tongues is much easier, much easier than actually loving other people.
22:19
Because you're going to note here, the person who is drawing attention to themselves, by, look at me,
22:24
I can speak in tongues, blah, blah, blah, blah, right? Those are arrogant people.
22:29
Who are they focused in on? Themselves. And the Holy Spirit that they are believing in isn't pointing everybody to Jesus.
22:36
It's pointing them to them, right? But you want to talk about the real work of the
22:43
Holy Spirit, let's talk about how well you're getting along together. Shall we, right?
22:50
And you're going to note here, I am pastor here, and I know for a fact that some of you don't get along at times.
22:59
In fact, I know that some of you get under the skin of other people. And guess what? And other people will tell you,
23:05
Roseboro gets under their skin. Right? And what do we do when we get under each other's skins?
23:13
Do we treat each other with kindness? With love? No! What do we do?
23:19
We complain, and we cast aspersions, we lie, and we just let the ick fester.
23:27
But by the power of the Holy Spirit, Scripture says we are to mortify our sinful flesh.
23:33
This is all as a result of sin, and proof positive that we are all qualified in receiving
23:40
Jesus as Savior, because Christ only died for the ungodly. That's you and me. So above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love, listen to the words, covers a multitude of sins.
23:54
But you don't understand, that person did such and such a thing, really upset me, and I'm really mad about it.
23:59
Uh -huh. I get it. Okay? But love covers a multitude of sins.
24:06
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
24:16
And here it is. Here's the part that applies to all of us. Whoever speaks as one who speaks oracles of God.
24:25
Oracles, ooh. That kind of invokes like the Matrix movie, right? Remember the oracle, you know? She's a little kind of mystical, a little overcooked here.
24:34
But here's the thing. Do we not have oracles from God?
24:41
Hang on a second here. Do I still have that? No, it's gone. Bummer. There was a big old
24:47
Bible back here at one point, but alas, it has gone missing. It's a historical artifact of Kongsvinger.
24:52
But you haven't seen those big Bibles? They have these things called pages in them. It's like 66 books, and they're all the oracles of God.
25:03
And so when you and I tell people the truth about their sin, about their
25:11
Savior, about the crucified one who bled and died for their sins, rose bodily from the grave on the third day, ascended into heaven, the one to whom all authority is given, and that he's coming again to judge the living and the dead, and we assure them of the forgiveness of their sins, or even, if necessary, correct them for their false beliefs, and say the
25:30
Scriptures say, God says, are you not prophesying? Yeah, you are.
25:39
And that's what's called for here. And you're gonna note something here. Whenever you speak
25:45
God's words, is it something you're so comfortable with that you just do it all the time?
25:52
No. If you're like anybody, you struggle at times.
25:58
It's a little bit nerve -wracking, anxiety -causing to actually say, you know, I need to let you know, fellow co -worker of mine, that what you're saying is wrong.
26:11
Your opinions contradict the Word of God. You'll note that takes the Holy Spirit to give you the strength and the boldness to speak such words.
26:19
You remember in the book of Acts when the Christians were being persecuted after the apostles had been arrested and then finally let out of prison.
26:29
What did they do? They all gathered together for prayer. And what did they pray for? Boldness.
26:35
And what happened then? The room shook, and they were again filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to proclaim boldly in the face of persecution and slander the mighty works of God.
26:48
So this is the sense then that we are to understand this passage from Joel.
26:54
That Peter here is seeing the fulfillment of it because all of these people, you think every one of those
27:00
Christians were prophets that day in the narrow, this is an office of the prophet, they have the gift of prophecy kind of thing?
27:06
No. They were all prophesying that day in the way that we are all prophesying.
27:12
And that is proclaiming the oracles of God. So your sons and your daughters, they will prophesy.
27:17
That means boys and girls, men and women alike. And by the way, there's nothing in between. There's only those two categories if you're not sure about that.
27:26
I know shock of shocks. They'll probably arrest me after the service to let me know when the authorities arrive. But we are in Minnesota though.
27:34
But all that being said, you'll note that everybody has the
27:39
Holy Spirit as Christians. And when we proclaim the oracles of God and the great news of Jesus Christ and him crucified for our sins, we are fulfilling this prophecy as Christ has promised.
27:52
Young men will see visions, old men dream dreams, and they have. Even my male and female servants, in those days
28:00
I will pour out my spirit and they shall prophesy. And then the next part is really cryptic.
28:07
It kind of takes an interesting turn. I will show wonders in the heaven above, signs on the earth below, blood, fire, vapor of smoke.
28:21
That's quite a segue, right? In fact, that wasn't even a segue. That was just a hard turn into what's happening now, right?
28:28
Blood, fire, smoke. What is going on here? The sun shall be turned to darkness, the moon to blood, before the day of the
28:37
Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. Didn't we get a foretaste of that while Jesus was on the cross?
28:45
At noon, the sun no longer gave its light, and Christ spent the last three hours of his suffering for your sins and mine.
28:53
He did it in the dark. It was as if the sun itself couldn't bear to watch and even had to hide its light.
29:02
And as a result of it, the sun was darkened, the moon turned to blood. Nothing. It went on for three hours.
29:10
And what's interesting, if you do your historical research on this, you'll find that that is also recorded in several different places in antiquity.
29:17
That strange day where the sun just disappeared for hours and then finally came back.
29:23
Christ's suffering. And you'll note that was just 50 days earlier. 50 days earlier for the people who were there for the
29:29
Feast of Pentecost. And they would have all remembered that. Oh, yeah, that just happened almost two months ago.
29:37
Yeah, I'll never forget that day. And that's kind of the point. And then here comes the kicker.
29:44
The whole point of the text. Tongues isn't the point. Not even the
29:49
Holy Spirit is the point. The Holy Spirit is there pointing people to Jesus because the point is this.
29:57
It shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
30:07
And this is something you and I need assurance of. You'll note that every week we come here and we begin our service with a confession of sins.
30:17
I have sinned against God and thought, word, deed by what I've done and by what I've left undone. We confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean.
30:25
We have sinned against God and thought, word, and deed. All these things are true about each and every one of us.
30:31
And if we didn't have a message of hope week in and week out, it would be very easy to despair.
30:40
It really would. Because we all know that when we do our best to try to change things in our lives, turn them around, there's always an initial part of it that just starts off well and then over a period of time it tapers off and next thing you know you're back to your bad habits.
31:04
This is how this goes. And if my salvation and your salvation were based upon our do -goodedness, if it were based upon our sanctification, if it were based upon us hitting morality metrics, then none of us would be saved.
31:23
But the whole point of this is that the gospel is now being preached on the day of Pentecost. And as the prophet
31:30
Joel prophesied, and you'll note, Joel's a real prophet. His point is that everyone, you, me,
31:37
Jew, Gentile, Norwegian, Swede, Polish, or Asian, it doesn't matter where you're from, everyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ will be saved.
31:53
Because salvation is a free gift. It's free to us, but it costs
31:59
Jesus his very life, which he willingly laid down so that you and I can be forgiven and pardoned and reconciled to the
32:07
God whom we have all offended by our great sin and our vice. So note here, brothers and sisters, cuckoo juice is out of the question.
32:17
It's not even on the table here. Instead, you'll note that a sober reading of these texts leads us to realize that we all have the
32:27
Holy Spirit and every single one of us who has shared the good news of Jesus Christ, whether you be a child or an adult, who've spoken the words of God faithfully to another, you have fulfilled this prophecy.
32:41
You, having the Holy Spirit, have prophesied and told the truth of the very oracles of God to a dying world that needs it and even to yourself who needs it as well.
32:51
So let us, this Pentecost, thank Christ that he has not left us as orphans, that he has given us such a powerful and great gift as the
33:00
Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity who indwells us, convicts us of our sin and our unbelief, but also gives us the great assurance that we are forgiven in Jesus Christ.
33:11
And let us then hold fast to this promise and never let it go. We who've now called on the name of Jesus Christ, as the
33:18
Scriptures say, we shall be saved. In fact, we are now.
33:24
Ah, what a blessed Pentecost. What a great message. Thank you, Lord Jesus. In the name of Jesus, amen.
