The Doctrine of the
00:08
Week for this Sunday is Christian Unity. The Apostle Paul says in Ephesians chapter 4,
00:15
I beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the
00:32
Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.
00:44
One Lord, one faith, one baptism. So as Christians, we have our unity in Christ through the
00:54
Holy Spirit. All true believers share this in common. We share the same hope.
01:01
We serve the same Lord. We believe in the same gospel. We were baptized by the same
01:07
Holy Spirit who placed us spiritually into the body of Christ, which is the church.
01:13
Obviously, we're all different, and that's okay. We have different gifts and different personalities, but we are all part of the same family of God.
01:25
Therefore, because of that, we need to walk worthy of this calling.
01:31
I think somebody might argue that Christianity, just Christianity in general, is divided.
01:39
And certainly there's some truth to that. So with the limited time I have,
01:44
I would just point out this one thing. The Bible tells us that we have spiritual unity.
01:51
One Lord, one faith, one baptism. So now it's just about making that invisible spiritual unity visible.
01:58
And keep in mind, Paul is writing to a local church. So let's just start there and focus on that and then branch out.
02:08
Let's just keep focusing on the unity in the local church.
02:13
is how certainly one of the primary ways we give glory to God.
