- 00:17
- Well, hello and welcome to The Zone. I'm your host, Big Wave Dave. Today, we're going to talk about the six days of creation.
- 00:25
- So, the Bible tells us that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. He created everything, and it was amazing.
- 00:34
- Now, the Bible also tells us that God did this in just six days. So today, we're going to take a closer look at each of those days.
- 00:42
- Are you ready? Let's go. So, on the first day, God created earth, space, time, and light.
- 00:52
- Now, when God first created the earth, it was a lot different than it is today. In fact, the
- 00:58
- Bible says that it was kind of like a watery ball. There wasn't anything on it yet. You see, because God was just getting started with his plan.
- 01:07
- Now, on day two, God created the atmosphere. That's a pretty big word. What does it mean?
- 01:12
- It simply means the air and the clouds above us. So, the kiddie wants to know, why do we need that?
- 01:19
- Well, the answer is pretty simple. If we didn't have the atmosphere, we wouldn't be able to breathe. It also protects us from the sun.
- 01:27
- God knew what he was doing when he created the atmosphere. On day three, things started to really get exciting.
- 01:36
- So now, God created dry land and it started to appear. And then, he started to fill it with plants.
- 01:45
- Let's take a closer look at some of the plants, okay? So, I don't know if you've ever been camping out in the forest, but you see all kinds of different types of plants, like these ferns here.
- 01:56
- Or maybe you've gone with your family to see the redwoods. Absolutely beautiful. In fact,
- 02:03
- God created just hundreds and hundreds of different types of plants. Plants that have blossoms on there, or fruit.
- 02:08
- A lot of trees that are fun to climb. And just incredible beauty, like these flowers here.
- 02:15
- So, why did God create these plants so beautiful? Well, I think it's for us to enjoy them.
- 02:22
- But you know, plants have another purpose as well. You see, they're not only nice to look at, they actually provide food for us.
- 02:31
- And the way that God designed these, if you crack these open, what you'll see are these little seeds inside.
- 02:36
- That helps us make even more plants. Wow, God is so smart. So, on day four,
- 02:43
- God really started to move. He created the sun, the moon, and the stars. So, why do we need the sun?
- 02:51
- Well, the answer is kind of obvious. To help keep us warm, keep us healthy, and the plants needed to grow.
- 02:59
- Maybe a trickier question is, why do we need the moon? Well, one reason is, of course, like this kid, he's enjoying the light provided by the moon.
- 03:09
- But there is something even more important. The gravity of the moon causes the ocean tides.
- 03:15
- It causes the ocean to rise and fall. That keeps the water mixed up, so that all the creatures can stay healthy and happy.
- 03:22
- You know, I love how the Bible simply says, He also made the stars, God made the stars. Like, no big deal, right?
- 03:29
- Well, how many? Here's the latest guess. I don't even know how to pronounce that number.
- 03:35
- That's a lot of stars. But here's what's incredible. God knows the name of each and every star.
- 03:43
- Wow, our God is so big and amazing. Okay, so let's review.
- 03:50
- Day one, God created earth, space, time, and light. Day two, He created the atmosphere.
- 03:56
- On day three, He created the dry land and plants. And on day four, He created the sun, the moon, and the stars.
- 04:05
- So this is where things get to be incredibly exciting. God has got the earth all set.
- 04:11
- He's ready to create living creatures. So on day five,
- 04:16
- God created the sea and flying creatures. These are perhaps some of the most amazing creatures that He ever created.
- 04:24
- Things like whales. Have you ever gone whale watching? They are fantastic creatures.
- 04:31
- I just love to go watch them. And then, of course, fish. Now, my father used to be a scuba diver, and he went all over the world to see thousands of different kinds of fish of different colors, shapes, and sizes.
- 04:45
- God is so creative. And, of course, the sea creatures are not just fish.
- 04:53
- There are things like the sea turtle and eels and octopus. Wow, God is so creative.
- 05:00
- Then, of course, God also created the flying things. Things like birds. Birds are so fun to watch, and they're very beautiful.
- 05:08
- But it's not just the birds. Things like this dragonfly over here. Just absolutely amazing.
- 05:14
- And bats and bees. And then something you may not have thought about. God created these, too.
- 05:21
- If you missed the video on dinosaurs, I highly suggest you check it out. All right.
- 05:27
- Here comes the grand finale. The land animals and humans. So, on day six,
- 05:33
- God created all kinds of different animals. So, let me ask you. What is your favorite animal?
- 05:39
- Now, me personally, I really like the dinosaurs. They were so cool.
- 05:46
- So, as we look around, we discover that God created many different types of animals.
- 05:51
- Lions and tigers and bears. Oh, my. Things like pigs and goats. And creepy things like spiders and lizards.
- 05:59
- All kinds of amazing different creatures. Now, why did God create so many? I think one of the reasons is he simply wanted us to enjoy all these different animals.
- 06:10
- And let's not forget, on day six, he also made the dinosaurs. My favorite, by the way.
- 06:18
- So, but here's the most important thing that God created on day six. People. Now, I've heard people say on TV and different places that humans are nothing more than just smart animals.
- 06:30
- Is that true? Let's talk about this. Let's start by talking about what we have in common with animals.
- 06:38
- Okay, so we all eat. We drink. We sleep. We walk on the ground.
- 06:43
- That sort of thing. So, we do have some things in common. But that makes sense since we all live on the same planet.
- 06:50
- But there are a lot of differences. Let's look at what the Bible has to say.
- 06:55
- Okay? So, the Bible tells us that humans were made in the image of God.
- 07:01
- We are the only creatures that were made in his image. So, what does it mean to be made in the image of God?
- 07:09
- Let's take a closer look. First of all, we are not animals. God said that we are special.
- 07:17
- And for one thing, we are very creative. And we got to see all the different cool things that God created.
- 07:23
- But we are creative too. So, have you ever made a really cool picture or painted something really nice for your parents?
- 07:31
- Or maybe put together a really nice Lego puzzle or something? See, we are creative just like God.
- 07:37
- Animals can't do that. When was the last time you saw a goat put together an airplane? Right? It just doesn't happen.
- 07:44
- Because we are not just animals. We are special. Another thing is that, just like God, we are emotional.
- 07:52
- We get happy and sad and angry. Well, God does too. Finally, we were created for a relationship with God.
- 08:01
- He is our Heavenly Father. And He loves you so much. Alright, so we made it through.
- 08:08
- Let's review. On day one, God created earth, space, time, and light. On day two,
- 08:14
- He created the atmosphere. Day three, dry land and plants. Day four, the sun, moon, and stars.
- 08:22
- Day five, sea and flying creatures. And finally, on day six, He created land animals and man.
- 08:29
- Speaking of creative, the Institute for Creation Research has put together a really cool video of what it might have looked like during Creation Week.
- 08:38
- Check this out. Wow! That was so cool.
- 10:16
- I just love that video. The bottom line is, we can trust the
- 10:21
- Bible. You know, this is just one of the topics. We are working on a lot more here at The Zone.
- 10:27
- So I do hope that you check back to see what's new. I'd just like to pause for a minute to thank all these amazing ministries for helping with the content for these sessions.
- 10:37
- Well, that's all the time we have together. I hope to see you soon. I'm Big Wave Dave. God bless you.
