- Some very big things are happening in the world of mainstream media. Vice is said to be headed for bankruptcy.
- 00:07
- May 1st, New York Times story. Nobody would have guessed this was coming. It was a $5 .7
- 00:13
- billion company just a minute ago. And now they're talking about going on auction.
- 00:19
- So Vice Media is preparing to file bankruptcy after being unable to find a buyer. They've lost almost two thirds of the audience that helps pay their bills.
- 00:28
- They're left with about a third of their audience. I mean, that's stunning. And I looked up and down the board at the rest of the primetime, which, with all due respect to the daytime, is all anyone gives about over there at Fox News.
- 00:40
- The primetime pays the bills, period. They're all down. Just did a quick calculation.
- 00:46
- The 9 p .m. demo, which, of course, is Hannity. He follows Tucker, is down almost 40 percent, down 39 percent.
- 00:53
- The 10 p .m., down 24 percent in the demo, down almost 20 percent in the total. And I could go on.
- 00:58
- The 11 percent got the 11 o 'clock got hurt, too. Greg Gutfeld, he was averaging 1745 a night in the overall.
- 01:08
- Now he's down to 1586. He was averaging 258 in the demo. Now he's down to 207.
- 01:13
- And that's the least hurt hour. All the others are down double digits. They have lost repeatedly to MSNBC.
- 01:33
- Where can you still find
- 01:46
- Americans saying true things? There aren't many places left, but there are some. And that's enough.
- 01:52
- As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. Hey, it's Tucker Carlson.
- 01:58
- You often hear people say the news is full of lies, but most of the time, that's not exactly right.
- 02:04
- Much of what you see on television or read in The New York Times is, in fact, true in the literal sense.
- 02:09
- You could pass one of the media's own fact checks. Lawyers would be willing to sign off on it. In fact, they may have.
- 02:15
- But that doesn't make it true. It's not true. At the most basic level, the news you consume is a lie, a lie of the stealthiest and most insidious kind.
- 02:25
- Facts have been withheld on purpose, along with proportion and perspective. You are being manipulated.
- 02:31
- How does that work? Let's see. If I tell you that a man has been unjustly arrested for armed robbery, that is not, strictly speaking, a lie.
- 02:39
- He may have been framed. At this point, there's been no trial, so no one can really say. But if I don't mention the fact that the same man has been arrested for the same crime six times before, am
- 02:50
- I really informing you? No, I'm not. I'm misleading you. And that's what the news media are doing in every story that matters every day of the week, every week of the year.
- 03:01
- What's it like to work in a system like that? After more than 30 years in the middle of it, we could tell you stories.
- 03:08
- The best you can hope for in the news business at this point is the freedom to tell the fullest truth that you can.
- 03:13
- But there are always limits. And you know that if you bump up against those limits often enough, you will be fired for it.
- 03:21
- That's not a guess. It's guaranteed. Every person who works in English language media understands that.
- 03:28
- The rule of what you can't say defines everything. It's filthy, really, and it's utterly corrupting.
- 03:35
- You can't have a free society if people aren't allowed to say what they think is true. Speech is the fundamental prerequisite for democracy.
- 03:44
- That's why it's enshrined in the first of our constitutional amendments. Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren't many platforms left that allow free speech.
- 03:53
- The last big one remaining in the world, the only one, is Twitter, where we are now.
- 03:59
- Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops. Twitter is not a partisan site.
- 04:06
- Everybody's allowed here, and we think that's a good thing. And yet, for the most part, the news that you see analyzed on Twitter comes from media organizations that are themselves thinly disguised propaganda outlets.
- 04:19
- You see it on cable news. You talk about it on Twitter. The result may feel like a debate, but actually the gatekeepers are still in charge.
- 04:28
- We think that's a bad system. We know exactly how it works, and we're sick of it.
- 04:34
- Starting soon, we'll be bringing a new version of the show we've been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter.
- 04:39
- We bring some other things, too, which we'll tell you about. But for now, we're just grateful to be here. Free speech is the main right that you have.
- 04:47
- Without it, you have no others. See you soon. What you just heard from Tucker is the exact conversation that I had with with my team a few weeks ago after we got demonetized from YouTube, and it occurred to us that Twitter is the most powerful free speech platform.
- 05:03
- It's the only really it's when it comes to social media. It's not only the most powerful free speech platform, but it's in many ways the only one.
- 05:12
- And it's also a platform with hundreds of millions of active users. Twitter has hundreds of millions of active users.
- 05:20
- It it drives the conversation. It does that in a way that even
- 05:26
- YouTube doesn't. So who exactly is Linda Yakaruna? Well, there are a lot of people who are upset because she is apparently associated with the
- 05:33
- World Economic Forum. The fact that she's associated with the World Economic Forum raises flags, obviously, but it doesn't necessarily mean that she's on the side of the hardcore political left.
- 05:43
- Some again, according to The Washington Post, the fact that she has worked with the WEF. You know, a lot of people are saying that's a sign she'll return
- 05:51
- Twitter to its old ways, but presumably Musk would not allow any of that to happen. He's still going to be the boss and he's capable of firing her.
- 05:57
- He said the platform's commitment to open source transparency and accepting a wide range of viewpoints remains unchanged. You know, do your tweets hurt the company?
- 06:05
- Are there Tesla owners who say, I don't agree with his political position because and I know it because he shares so much of it.
- 06:11
- Or are there advertisers on Twitter that Linda Yakaruna will come and say, you got to stop, man, or, you know,
- 06:16
- I can't get these ads because of some of the things you tweet. He really thinks about it for 12 seconds.
- 06:29
- He's thinking, you know, I'm reminded of. Uh, the scene in The Princess Bride, great movie, great.
- 06:44
- Where he confronts the person who killed his father. And he says, offer me money.
- 06:56
- Offer me power. I don't care. So you just don't care.
- 07:07
- You want to share what you have to say? I'll say what I want to say. And if if if the consequence of that is losing money, so be it.
- 07:15
- Then came this shocking tweet when he stepped off the set. I was informed this morning by my agent that I had been terminated by CNN.
- 07:23
- I am stunned. As Christians, we have good reasons to distrust the mainstream media, which stands firmly against the moral law that God has revealed in the
- 07:34
- Bible. Watch how CNN treats pastors like John MacArthur and Votie Bacchum.
- 07:40
- Do you doubt the numbers they're putting out? Yeah, I actually do. I think they're having trouble in the state of California.
- 07:46
- The governor just declared that he was firing the state health director because the system, the computer system had miscounted all kinds of things.
- 07:55
- So the whole state is in an uproar. I think it has sparked a discussion. And quite frankly, feminism has gained a foothold in many evangelical churches.
- 08:04
- Do you think that's a good thing? No, I don't. Not at all. Why not? Well, because we're about the gospel. The culture doesn't dictate truth.
- 08:11
- The gospel dictates truth. My job is not to be a political pundit or political activist. My job is to be a pastor and proclaim the truth of the gospel as clearly as I possibly can.
- 08:21
- Margaret, is the reverend sounding a little sexist or is it just me? I would have to say the reverend is sounding a little questionable there.
- 08:29
- In contrast, look how CNN treats a non -controversial pastor who never confronts sin, such as Joel Osteen.
- 08:37
- On Larry King Now, America's favorite pastor, Joel Osteen. I know I'm not a traditional pastor in terms of I'm just going down teaching scripture by scripture, because what
- 08:46
- I would teach would just be more how to live a great life. Great pleasure. Welcome to Larry King. Now, an old friend, frequent guest with us on our previous show,
- 08:54
- Joel Osteen. He's been hailed as the most watched inspirational figure in America.
- 08:59
- He's pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, hugely popular televangelist and a New York Times bestselling author.
- 09:05
- It should be obvious by now that mainstream media outlets such as CNN and Vice, which is preparing for bankruptcy, stand firmly against biblical
- 09:15
- Christians and biblical morality. And this is precisely why an enormous number of Americans no longer trust these biased mainstream media outlets.
- 09:26
- Of course, conservative media personalities such as Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh are biased as well.
- 09:35
- But they are very honest about their biases, whereas mainstream media outlets like CNN pretend to be neutral and unbiased, which is completely untrue.
- 09:47
- Tucker Carlson deciding to put his new show on Twitter is significant, not because Christians agree with everything
- 09:55
- Tucker says, but because Tucker fights against many of the evils in our culture that Christians also stand against.
- 10:03
- I don't know the precise details of Tucker's professed Christian faith, but Tucker's worldview has at least some elements of Christianity.
- 10:12
- Listen to these clips from a speech Tucker gave at the Heritage Foundation. So when
- 10:17
- I started at Heritage, the presumption was, and this is a very Anglo -American assumption, that the debates we're having are kind of rational debates about the way to get to mutually agreed upon outcomes.
- 10:28
- If you have people who are saying, I have an idea. Let's castrate the next generation. Let's sexually mutilate children. I'm sorry, that's not a political debate.
- 10:35
- What? It has nothing to do with politics. What's the outcome we're desiring here? If you say, well, you know,
- 10:40
- I think abortion is always bad. Well, I think sometimes it's necessary. That's a debate I'm familiar with.
- 10:47
- But if you're telling me that abortion is a positive good, what are you saying? Well, you're arguing for child sacrifice, obviously.
- 10:55
- When people or crowds of people or the largest crowd of people at all, which is the federal government, the largest human organization in human history, decide that the goal is to destroy things, destruction for its own sake.
- 11:10
- Hey, let's tear it down. What you're watching is not a political movement. It's evil.
- 11:16
- Tucker may have his flaws, but what he said there is absolutely correct. And it's exactly the kind of speech that much of the mainstream media is trying to shut down as bigoted hate speech.
- 11:29
- Also, whereas the mainstream media always defends LGBTQ activists, even the
- 11:36
- Nashville, Tennessee shooter who murdered children at an elementary school. Tucker correctly sides with Christians who are being unjustly persecuted for being
- 11:46
- Christian or for defending truth. Take a look at some of the things that Tucker fights for.
- 11:53
- The FBI, the ATF, the National Police, and for that matter, Merrick Garland all have access to that manifesto.
- 11:58
- And yet somehow the attorney general informs us that a motive has not yet been identified. Well, he's lying.
- 12:06
- They all are lying. We can't see the manifesto because the transgender lobby, which has far more power than you do, has pressured politicians to keep it hidden.
- 12:14
- But we can be certain what it says. Monday's victims were murdered because they were Christians. It's that simple.
- 12:21
- Transgenderists hate Christians above all, not because Christians are a physical threat. The third graders were not a physical threat, but because Christians refuse to join every other liar in our society and proclaim that transgenderists are gods with the power to change nature itself.
- 12:36
- I stated my opinion on it, and I used scripture to back that up. And they removed me from the building for the remainder of the year.
- 12:44
- And when I attempted to attend a class, I was arrested and charged. Did you point out that this is a
- 12:50
- Christian school and that this is like a core Christian idea because it's like in the Christian book, which some call the
- 12:56
- Bible? Yeah, absolutely. Alison Profater is the student body president at Asper University, and she joins us.
- 13:04
- Alison, you're so nice to come on. Thank you. What what is this, do you think? Right.
- 13:09
- What is this? That's what we I mean, that's the question, right? And a theme or a Bible verse that we've all been sharing with each other is
- 13:17
- Habakkuk one. And the Lord says, look at the nations and watch for I'm doing something in your day that you wouldn't believe if you were told.
- 13:23
- And it's happening and we can hardly believe it. There are certainly some concerns about the
- 13:29
- Asbury revival. But the point is that in contrast to mainstream media outlets like CNN that portray biblical
- 13:37
- Christians and biblical morality in a negative light, Tucker consistently portrays these things in a positive light.
- 13:45
- So even though Tucker is certainly not perfect, we as Christians should be glad that Twitter provides an opportunity to report on the news happening in the world since it will be a contrast to the worldview being propagated by mainstream media outlets like CNN.
- 14:04
- The portrayal of Tucker being a liar is pretty disingenuous, since many people in the mainstream media lie about many things.
- 14:13
- The question is simply who people trust more and whether we trust people to be able to separate facts from lies.
- 14:23
- The solution is certainly not to allow the elites and the mainstream media to shut down all voices they deem to be unacceptable.
- 14:33
- The truth is powerful. And oftentimes it's because the truth is powerful that the mainstream media wants to shut down those who are speaking the truth.
- 14:44
- But somehow you believe it's it's mean and insensitive for Paul to say, no, all the gospel or not.
- 14:52
- But that's exactly what he says. There is a truth.
- 14:58
- It is absolute, and it is necessary for you to hold to that truth.
