01:18
I'd like to do with you is teach you just how a small amount of critical thinking can really help us to understand some of the cultural issues that challenge us today.
01:30
What we're going to find is that a lot of people throw out challenging issues, especially to Christians, as if we cannot answer them.
01:38
And the reality is the people who throw these challenges out usually have not thought through these issues very carefully.
01:46
And when we apply just a small amount of critical thinking, we end up seeing that their arguments, well, fall apart.
01:54
And this is important for the Christian. We have to realize that as Christians, we base what we believe on truth, the truth of God's Word and the truth of God's character.
02:06
And so when we are going to make arguments, they must be logically valid. They must make consistent sense.
02:14
In other words, they have to be something that is based in truth, not something where it sounds good, it creates an emotional argument, but yet it's not valid.
02:27
Now, one thing you'll see very often when challenged is people will use hypotheticals.
02:33
What if you're in a clinic and you have to save your child's life or a thousand frozen embryos?
02:40
What do you do? I don't do anything. It's not a real scenario. You see, they'll throw out something that doesn't need an answer.
02:47
And so many Christians make the mistake of thinking they must give an answer. But we'll use critical thinking to answer these.
