Well a good Wednesday morning.
Today we're reading in Jeremiah again.
This time we're kind of jumping a little bit.
We're reading in chapter 6 and then jumping to chapters 46 and 47 and
then we're wrapping up our reading today with Psalm 104.
I want to zero in on passage in chapter 6 and
what the Lord talks to us about here through the prophet reminds me of
something that's going on in our own land.
You know it's grievous to my heart when I when I see
those who are supposed to be spiritual leaders you know pastors of
so -called Christian churches who are
condoning things that the Scripture calls abominations.
And you know sometimes I know we can be accused of harping on you know the whole
homosexual agenda and all all of that kind of stuff and the homosexual marriage same -sex marriage and
the transgenderism and all of all that kind of thing.
And I and I don't I don't want to be a hobby horse kind of a guy but but it comes to
mind when I read this passage today because in in recent even in
recent months there's been a denomination that has totally
stricken from their rule book if you will any prohibition
against same -sex marriage or clergy for anybody in their denomination
clergy can perform them.
Clergy can be.
Can they already have women preachers pastors that can be
married to a woman now.
And it's it's just okay.
So what am I getting at.
What I'm getting at is what we read in Jeremiah 6 verse 13 and following.
And here's here's the thing the Lord says because from the least of them even to the greatest of them
everyone is given to covetousness from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals
falsely.
They have also healed the hurt of my people slightly or superficially
saying peace peace when there is no peace.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination.
No they were not at all ashamed.
Nor did they know how to blush.
And it reminds me of the the videos I saw
interviewing clergymen and delegates to this denominations
recent annual convention when they finally sanctioned all
same -sex marriage and relationships and so forth from the clergy on down.
And and the people they interviewed were euphoric like we finally got this done.
We now have peace we now have peace.
And there is no shame whatsoever in the practice
of that which the Lord just frankly calls an abomination.
Now I I have I have compassion for people who are caught up into in that
transgression.
There can be all kinds of reasons behind it and why and how they got sucked into
those kind of relationships.
But I don't have a whole lot of compassion for those who are supposed to be
spiritual leaders who are supposed to know what God's Word says and guide people in
God's ways who turn around and tell them.
You know you don't have to listen.
You don't have to believe that.
You don't have to practice according to that.
That's just old stuff from cultures gone by.
You know God is not going to punish this.
This is peace peace.
And there's no blushing whatsoever.
Now again you know as I've often emphasized when talking about this kind of thing we we don't have to be
mean and cruel and hateful toward people who are trapped in this kind of sin.
But at the same time nor should we be.
No nor should we be.
But at the same time we should also not be those who say you know it's
okay to each his own.
You look it's a no.
There'll be no harm.
There'll be no harm come to you.
Peace peace.
No we can't say that either.
We just have to be honest and say you know what God's Word says.
Because here's the deal.
Listen to how this passage ends.
Passage end says.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall at the time I
punish them.
They shall be cast down says the Lord.
So those who will sanction that which God calls an abomination and
they won't blush at it.
And though and instead they won't be ashamed of it at all.
Well they're.
They're gonna experience the same kind of casting down and punishment that the
Lord says is coming to those who practice such things.
Oh listen.
Let's be let's be.
Let's be challenged by this to be faithful to God faithful to his word not to
capitulate to the culture just to keep peace.
When really there's no peace to be made with abominations and
sin.
We there isn't.
Let's be faithful to God into his word.
And so our Father and our God.
I pray that you would help us to do just that.
It's.
It's incredibly it's incredible how the culture is changing and shifting and
making out those who want to live by the scriptures to be demonized and evil people.
When really we're just trying to do what's right.
Trying to do what your word says.
Help us to be faithful in it.
Regardless of what the culture says.
We pray in Jesus name all right.
Listen.
Have a good rest of your Wednesday.
I trust the Lord will bless you.
Good day.
