The ninth chapter of the book of Hebrews. Did you know that there is no place in the Bible That tells us to have an invitation at the close of the Sunday service. No place does it say to meet on Sunday morning Sunday night even Wednesday night.
No place are we instructed to have a spring and fall? Revival. We used to have a preacher that Said if you do not come at every regular service meeting. You're saying, you know, that didn't bother me much.
There is another thing that. There's another thing that the Bible teaches Without saying a word about it. It's in the tabernacle. It proves that only the Lord can reveal Scripture to us. What is it think about that.
As we go on I hope I remember to come back to it now. The first verse of Hebrews 9. Then barely the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service and a worldly sanctuary. Now it does not mean that it was worldly in the sense in which the word is now used as denoting the opposite of spiritual Serious religions.
But worldly in the sense that it belonged to the world Belonged to the earth Rather than heaven. It was made by human hands not directly by the hand of God. For there was verse 2. We're in Hebrews 9. For there was a tabernacle made of the first wherein was the candlestick.
That should be lampstand. They didn't have candles yet and The table and showbread which is called the sanctuary now. He's going to speak of two different rooms within the tabernacle. A tabernacle references to the movable tabernacle Built by God's directions in the wilderness of Sinai, which had two divisions.
If you look at your picture, you can see the two divisions of the tabernacle itself. Separated from each other by a curtain. The holy place and the most holy or the holy of holies. Verse 3. And after the second veil the tabernacle which is called the holiest of all.
After the second veil. The first veil of which the Apostle speaks. He doesn't talk about yet it was the entrance to the holy place and separated from the temple of the court and Prevented the people from even the Levites from seeing.
What was going on in the holy place the second veil of which the Apostle does not speak? Separated the holy place from the holy of holies. The tabernacle. Which is called the holiest of all that is. That part of the tabernacle, which is called the holy of holies.
I keep going over this because you can get confused Between the holy place and the holy of holies. First not for. Which had the golden censer and the Ark of the Covenant. Overlaid around about with gold.
Wherein was the golden pot that had manna and Aaron's rod that budded and the tables of the covenant. Now let's talk about this golden censer in Exodus. We find it in the holy place. Here we find it in the holy of holies.
Well, did Moses make a mistake? Urge. Well, they must have moved it. What do you think Greg? All right. In Exodus when we first read about the golden censer. It's in the holy place the first tabernacle.
Here Paul puts it in the holy of holies. Why. That's a good safe answer. That's all right Jesse. Why is it in the holy holy of holies and not out where it was put in Exodus in the holy place? You got any information on this?
You uh, all right. We have to look at the one carrying it in the Old Testament the tabernacle. The golden censer had to be available to the high priest. It was outside. You had to carry it in. Our high priest is where he's in there.
So Paul didn't make a mistake. The high priest has the whole golden censer. Just a little thing that you'd overlook but the difference between them is speaks volumes. It had to be accessible. To the priest the high priest and.
Since the high priest was a man and he would go in and come out he had to carry that pot with him. The golden center the Golden pot of manna for today speaks to the present ministry of Jesus the Christ.
So it's in there. It was kept in Ark. He feeds those who are his own. He feeds them the bread of life. He is the bread of life. Aaron's rod that budded Greg what does that speak of? That's all true. But it was kept.
Why was they kept and why did it bud? It was just a dead stick. Who knows besides David? Supposing he knows who's speaking. Okay, it was to prove what that's right. That's exactly what it is. The Rod which was dead.
Budded it had to bring forth life from an impossible situation. Way back in the Old Testament. It was foretold that Jesus would resurrect. Having been slain on the cross. That's right. That's right. The tables of the commandment speaks to the fact that our Lord fulfilled all of the law by and Over it the cherubims of the glory shadowing the mercy seat of which he cannot now speak particularly.
Now when these things were thus ordained the priest went always into the first tabernacle accomplishing the service of God. The priest went in the first tabernacle there was no one else allowed in. If you're just a common Jew, you couldn't go in there.
He went always into the first tabernacle. This is full of priests one at a time. This is why you and I. This is you and I and we do the work of the church. We are in the tabernacle. We don't go into the Holy of Holies yet.
But we are in the tabernacle going about the daily work of the church. The work of the priest went on all of the time. They never finished their task. The same with us. We never finish our task. This must have become very monotonous.
When real worship takes place it draws us into the presence of God. Now only the high priest Could go into the Holy of Holies. And it draws us now into the presence of God which is the Holy of Holies.
Greg how do we get in there? I'm not a high priest. All right, that's why it said we are in him. Why it did not say we belong to him. To worship means to give someone Something of which they are worthy.
This is all we can really do for our Lord. Real worship will always lead to service. Today the church has just turned it backwards. You've got to serve him before you can worship him. Or is that wrong?
We we serve him by worship we come to worship and serve. We don't come to serve and then worship. You will not have to beg or goad the people into doing something like visit giving tithing teaching or singing.
When the church is really worshiping. The tabernacle never brought the people into the presence of God. Only the high priest Once a year could go in but into the second. Now we're going into the second the high priest alone once every year.
Not without blood which he offered for himself and for the errors of his people. The high priest entered the sacred place bearing a censer burning with coals. And his hands full of sweet incense. He then placed the censer upon the burning coals and the cloud Of the burning incense covered the mercy seat that was all done in the Holy of Holies.
Leviticus 16 12 and 13. Next he took the blood of a bullock Which had been slain for the sin offering for himself he had to offer a sin offering for himself now before he ever gets to the people and Sprinkled the blood of the bullocks upon and before the mercy seat.
He then went out of the Holy of Holies killed a goat. Which was the sin offering for the people of Israel? And he did with the blood of the goat as he had done with the blood of the bull. Now he is Satisfied himself or God for himself and he goes out and kills the goat and he's going to take that goat.
Take the blood of the goat. After the high priest finished the work within the veil he came forth Laid both of his hands on the head of the live goat. And with his hands on the goat's head. He confessed over it all of the iniquities of the children of Israel.
All of their transgressions and all of their sins Putting them upon the head of the goat Which was then sent away into a land not inhabited. He removed the sins of the people in Reality he had to do this every year.
So he rolled it all forward one year. The ministry of the high priest on the day of atonement is a magnificent type of what the Lord Jesus did for us In his death the live goat Can't turn pages very well Upon whose head the priest placed his hands Confessing the sins of Israel and then sending the goat away into a land not inhabited.
It is a magnificent picture of Jesus Burying our sins away from us as far as the east is from the west the blood of the animal. Animal sacrifice during the mosaic economy could not take away sin. The animal blood cannot take away sin.
It just rolled them forward one year if you can picture that the high priest has Done all that he's going to do on the day of atonement and all that devil is rolling the sins forward one year. Until finally what David until they rolled it up on Jesus He took their sins.
People that were living then and our sins All away send them all To a place where there was nothing. Yes, here was presented a glorious and magnificent picture. But Paul is attempting to get his people to see that the way was no longer needed.
We don't need to do that. Since there's one much better Jesus the antitype for fulfillment of all that Tabernacle the priesthood and the offerings typified. Everything that they did was a picture of what was going to be done.
Jesus has done it. We no longer Need to kill a goat no longer Need to sacrifice anything because he did it all. Yes, that's right. Yes. That's right. That's right. Just as right as it can be. Because they're looking at something other than Jesus for their salvation.
Tell what? No. That's right even those that symbolically now offer a goat verse 8 the Holy Ghost was signifying that the way into the holiest of all was Not yet made manifest. While as the first tabernacle was yet standing the tabernacle stood until Our Lord was through with it it functioned it did its work.
Why did they do away with the tabernacle? Well, why is it. Even the Jews the tabernacle is not an existence. Well, then you're saying the Lord did away with it. Say yes when he was through with it. He did away with it no matter what man does.
Yes why not have both the tabernacle and Jesus because that The time of the earth they preached is over. Because God said it was over. That's right. Absolutely. Well, you can look all you want to there's only one way.
The true tabernacle Jesus is now in heaven. Within the veil with the Father on the throne of grace. It's exactly where he resides. Yes, well, we'll see the tabernacle. I don't know whether it comes to earth or we see it in heaven.
Nine which was a figure for the time then present. Now by the fact that said that it suggests there was another time coming and you see that In which were offered both gifts and sacrifices that could not make him that did the service perfect.
Pertaining to the conscience. This man was not made perfect. Even in his holiest state. He wasn't perfect. Why urge? Well set Christ aside. Why wasn't the man made perfect as he went into the Holy of Holies?
Well, he confessed his sin. Russell, well, you all know. That's right. He's a man. He's just a man he does not take an Imperfect birth and make it carnally perfect. It's impossible. Here is pointed out the imperfection of the whole Levitical and Mosaic system to make one perfect means to make him fit for the kingdom fit legally and experimentally or communion with God.
Are we now fit only spiritually not? Carnally this includes salvation. Justification sanctification holiness righteousness all of which can be provided only Through the shed blood of Jesus, that's the only way you can get it.
Or any part of it. If you get part of it, you've got all of it before the beginning. Everything existed. Everything was in Exist means you can see it. Everything was planned ahead of time. I hate to use the word plan.
God did not plan out anything. He simply thought it. The offerings made in the tabernacle could not take away sin. You see that Greg? It's impossible. They could not remove the stain of sin from a soul nor could they keep the person for whom the sacrifice was offered.
Yes, the sins were covered for a time. But offerings had to be made again and again and again and again over and over day after day year after year. Even for the high priest himself because he was a man in infirmity.
Even the high priest had to cleanse his own sins first then what stood only in meals and drinks and divers washings and Carnal ordinances imposed on them until the time of Reformation. The same word used for washing is used for baptism.
The Greek word translated Reformation means literally a making straight. Therefore the time of Reformation was the time when that which was inadequate and imperfect because of the weakness of the flesh Would give way and he set aside for that which is perfect and effectual.
The time when the antitype would be would supersede the type and the shadow. The time when that which had been unsuccessful Would be fulfilled by God himself in his only begotten Son who kept the law.
Did away with all things that pleased the Father. He did away with all things that did not please the Father. In the tabernacle. The people could come only into the courtyard now get the picture again.
The courtyard was everything inside of the curtain. Jesus the Christ Can bring us to God, but only he can bring us there. We dare not go into the presence of God. We cannot go into the presence of God unless we're in Jesus.
He is my high priest. John 6 44 no man can come to me. Except the Father which has sent me draw him. And I will raise him up the last day. John 14 6. Jesus saith unto him. I am the way the truth the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by me. He said it over and over and over. No one comes except through me by me with me. Years ago the world tried to get rid of Jesus by crucifying him. That was a carnal act to do away with a spiritual person.
Today the liberal church is trying to get rid of him by their style of worship. Which is not worship at all. John 14 6 Jesus saith unto him. I am the way the truth the life. No, man cometh unto the Father but by me.
I know a lot of Christians that they're grown and even have gray hair. And they're still playing church. They go to committee meetings. They're on the board. Some even sing in the choir some teach Sunday-school class.
They're all busy as termites with about the same amount of destruction. They think they are serving God. Know this. You can never serve him Until you have worshiped him verse 11, but Christ Being come and high priest of good things to come.
By a greater And more perfect tabernacle not made with hands that is to say not of this building. All this business they are trying to sweeten up the worship service with pictures and stained-glass windows and candles and crosses.
Ministers to the flesh only it does not minister to the spiritual needs at all. You can worship him anywhere and it is wonderful when we can come together in the church and really worship him. You're worshiping him this morning in the study of his word doesn't have anything to do with us.
But we can worship him. Not by singing not by our looks not by anything. Worship him what is real pure stripped away worship? Yes, that's right when we can get self completely out of the way. Often does that happen?
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once Into the holy of holy place. Having obtained eternal redemption for us. He has up turn obtained eternal redemption. Jesus.
Jesus is teaching never saved anyone. It was his death and resurrection to say because he entered in. I'm in him. I had to enter in. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of an heifer sprinkled the unclean sanctified the unclean sanctified to the purifying of the flesh all of that is Carnal, it's something man's doing.
Numbers 19 to We find reference to the ashes of a heifer ever. This ceremony was not confined to the Day of Atonement. But was an observance that was available to all at all times to the purifying of flesh.
The heifer was burned the ashes were preserved and mixed with pure water. That they might be sprinkled over the persons who had become legally unclean when an Israelite Through contact with the dead body became ceremonially Defiled he was caught off from the public worship.
But when he was sprinkled with the pure water mixed with ashes of the heifer he was restored. Do you see how all of that is physical? How much more show the blood of Christ who through the eternal spirit?
Offered himself without spot to God. Purge your conscience from the dead works to serve the living God. Blood of Christ signifies the Humanity of Christ the blood of Christ the man of Christ the blood.
God doesn't have blood. Only the man's side has blood. Here we see indisputable proof that the death of Jesus the Christ does away with works on. The part of man is means of obtaining redemption or acquiring acceptance with God.
You can do absolutely nothing. It's hard to do nothing. In doing nothing you're doing something which is nothing. But you can do nothing to be accepted of God. Works of righteousness bring no peace. No eternal life.
No, clean conscience toward God and no communion with God. And for this cause He is the mediator of the New Testament that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first Testament they which are called might receive the promise of eternal Inheritance.
They which are called. Again, we have nothing to do. Yes, the priest knew if they didn't know they were just going through exercise. But the priest knew. The people didn't all they knew was to do this.
Or where a testament is there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. I have a will. I Can change that will. I Manipulate it. I can do whatever I want to with it. When does it become effective at my death?
When I can't change it anymore. If you have made a will and you're still alive it does nothing for anyone. So we see if Jesus had never died. No one could have been saved. He was not it was not his life that saved you but his death.
It wasn't his love that saved you. His death. For a testament is a force after men are dead. Otherwise it is the testator liveth. Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all of the people according to the law he took the blood of calves and goats with water and Scarlet wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the book and all the people.
Saying this is the blood of the testament which God has enjoyed. Upon you enjoined upon you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry and Almost all things are by the law purged with blood and without the shedding of blood is no remission.
Moses Sanctified the entire convent the entire Tabernacle without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. There is power in the blood. Not through some individuals in Some individual or physical strength or even spiritual strength.
It was therefore necessary that the patterns of these things in heaven Should be purified with these. But the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. They still had to purify. Where did where did sin originate?
That wasn't the originating point. Okay. But I Didn't say who originated. I said where did it originate? No, it was before man ever got here, right? Right. Where was that? Where in heaven sin originated in heaven?
Why do you think he got kicked out? On earth or in heaven or between heaven and earth we answered it these heavenly things needed cleansing. But because sin Originated in heaven whoever heard of Things in heaven needing cleansing the blood of animals has never been shed in heaven.
But the blood of Jesus the Christ is in the heaven. Why do you think he had to carry his blood into the Holy of Holies? It was so he would be purified. For Christ is not entered into the holy place made with hands Which are the figure of the true but into the heaven itself now to appear in the presence of God.
Jesus Christ had to take his blood To the Holy of Holies in heaven to purify purify it. And Jesus the Christ has not entered into the man made sanctuary. He died on earth to please the father when saving his people.
He lives in heaven to keep us safe. Not to please us, but to please the heavenly father not to please us But to please the heavenly father. Made with hands this refers to the tabernacle on earth Which was constructed by human hands.
It also tells us That God does not use hands of Jesus or angels To construct anything in heaven. All right. The place prepared for us was not built as man would build. All that's needed any time any place is the will of God.
Not yet that he should offer himself often as the high priest entered into the holy place every year with blood of others. Jesus Christ entered into the holy place with his own blood. Not like the earthly priest did once a year.
Also, I do not believe Jesus the Christ is Constantly suffering in heaven. Some do He suffered once on earth. For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world. But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
The Bible does not teach the end of the world. What does it teach? Well, it doesn't teach the end of the world the renewal of it or the end of this age. It does teach that all things will be changed. Jesus appeared at the end of the age of the law and Next he instituted a new age an age of grace 27 and as it is appointed unto men once to die.
But after this the judgment Lazarus had not much to say about Coming back. He didn't talk about a long tunnel. Or seeing mother. All of that's got to be a Satan. No matter how good man things is. We cannot speak of spiritual.
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many notice. It says many not all. And unto them the many That looked for him shall he appear the second time without sin to salvation. Christ is coming back.
Jesus is the same Jesus that we saw go away is coming back. He's not coming with sin. There is no transmigration of body to body. In other words, there is no great Incarnation as a great many of people people believe today.
