Welcome to another installment of Fighting for the Faith. My name is Chris Rosebro. I am your servant in Jesus Christ.
00:20
This is the channel that compares what people are saying in the name of God to the Word of God. So the
00:28
Supernatural Network, the It's Supernatural Network created by Sid Roth, it is an abysmal cesspool of bad.
00:40
I mean, really awful false doctrine and false teaching. It's absolutely deplorable that men like Dr.
00:49
Michael Brown continue to support and defend and run cover for men like Sid Roth and others.
00:57
That's what he does. When it's just, these are people, they're the worst of the worst. They're the grifters of the grifters.
01:04
They are the deceived of the deceivers. It's so bad. Case in point, we're going to be listening to Robert Henderson of the
01:12
Courts of Heaven fame. He is going to be talking about mantles and if you've spent any time in the charismatic movement or the
01:19
Pentecostal churches, oh, you know full well mantles are a big thing. But we're going to demystify the whole mantle thing and show you what
01:29
Elijah's mantle and him being taken up to heaven in a chariot, all in the types and shadows we're pointing to.
01:36
And it's not you, it's Jesus. So all of that being said, let's whirl up the desktop and we'll kick up our web browser.
01:48
So we're over at the It's Supernatural Network and the name of the video, this is a teaching by Robert Henderson, is
01:54
You Cannot Fulfill Your Calling Without a Mantle. Oh no.
02:00
Are you mantle -less? Do I need to go and search Etsy for a new mantle? Where do
02:05
I find myself a mantle? This is just so stupid. So I apologize.
02:12
Maybe a tinfoil pyramid hat might help you from the radioactive materials emanating from this bad video that may end up frying your brain.
02:20
But here we go. Here's the intro to this teaching. Today on Show Me Your Glory, we're going to be talking about...
02:29
The name of this program is Show Me Your Glory.
02:36
Oh, that's so just awful. Hang on. Today on Show Me Your Glory, we're going to be talking about receiving mantles from the
02:42
Lord. Have you received a mantle from the... And by the way, there's a reason why they're using the word mantle rather than the other word which is what it's translated in most modern translations, because by calling it a mantle, they're trying to basically blur its definition and you can't picture what it is.
03:01
Because when I think of mantle, I think of my fireplace, right? But wait till you hear what the actual word means, you're going to go, oh.
03:12
So we're going to be talking about receiving mantles from the Lord, he said. Did you know that Elijah received the mantle from Elijah?
03:19
Yes, he did. He did receive an adret. He absolutely did. But we'll talk about what that word means.
03:27
Did you know that it's not just for him that mantles are to be deposited? Where in scripture does it say that mantles are supposed to be deposited for you and for I?
03:39
That doesn't sound right. If we'll believe God, if we'll posture ourselves, God will empower us with a fresh new anointing to be able to accomplish the purposes and the call he put on our life.
03:49
Stay tuned. Do you have a biblical text that says that? Right back. All right. So I'm going to fast forward through the intro and here's
03:56
Robert Henderson now and he's going to explain the foundation of this teaching and it's supernatural studio all set up.
04:07
I mean, this looks so, so slick and Robert Henderson, he couldn't properly exegete his way out of a paper bag if I wrote a map for him and gave him a flashlight and a compass.
04:19
But here we go. I think subject. And let me just clarify what I mean when I'm talking about mantles. I'm talking about the person of the
04:26
Holy Spirit that brings the anointing of God. You see, this is what Jesus said in Luke, right? All Christians are anointed with the
04:33
Holy Spirit. If you are a Christian, you are a penitent baptized believer in Jesus. You have the
04:39
Holy Spirit. You have received the anointing. This is most certainly true. Chapter four.
04:45
When he said the spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me and he began to speak about the things that he was anointed to do.
04:51
So when I'm talking about mantles, if you will, I'm talking about something that is, is associated with, that is connected to the anointing and the presence of the
04:59
Lord that comes on our life and empowers us to be able to fulfill the assignments that God has given us.
05:08
God hasn't given us assignments, a little bit of work here.
05:14
Okay. So in Ephesians, Ephesians chapter two, okay? Listen carefully to what this says, starting in verse eight, by grace you have been saved through faith.
05:25
This is not your own doing. It is the gift of God so that it's not the result of works so that no one may boast for we are
05:31
God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus for assignments. No, for good works.
05:41
We're created in Christ Jesus for good works, not assignments.
05:47
Good works, which God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. So you, and you'll note how, how do, how does one get prepared for the good works that God has called us to?
05:57
The apostle Paul makes that very clear. In second Timothy chapter three, just a reminder of how this ends.
06:05
All scriptures breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof and correction, for training and righteousness so that the man of God may be complete and equipped for every good work.
06:17
So we are called in Christ, not for assignments, for good works. How do we get, how do we get equipped for those good works?
06:26
Through the Bible, through the word of God. It's nothing sexy. It's about studying and being a good disciple and learning
06:33
God's word and rightly understanding it. That's what's called for here. But Robert Henderson, don't, don't, don't, don't bother him with real biblical details.
06:43
He's into mantles and thingies and stuff. Let me back this up a little bit. Here we go. It's associated with, it is connected to the anointing and the presence of the
06:53
Lord that comes on our life and empowers us to be able to fulfill the assignments that God has given to us.
06:59
I just want to encourage you to know this. You can never fulfill the assignments God has for you without receiving mantles from the
07:05
Lord. And I feel brain cells dying.
07:17
You know, you remember in Star Wars, you know, it was as if, you know, a million voices cried all at once and then, and then we're suddenly silenced.
07:25
Those were all my brain cells just going, I am stupider after hearing this.
07:35
There is no biblical text that says that. Let me back this up. This is so bad.
07:41
The anointing and the presence of the Lord that comes on our life and empowers us to be able to fulfill the assignments that God has given to us.
07:49
I just want to encourage you to know this. You can never fulfill the assignments God has for you without receiving mantles from the
07:56
Lord. It says no biblical text anywhere. So in second
08:01
Kings chapter two and verse 13 and 14, we see where Elisha, who had served Elijah faithfully, was now receiving the mantle.
08:09
Now before I read the scripture, let me just say to you, the mantle that he received was actually the outer garment that Elijah would have worn just to keep, he would have wanted to keep warm during winter times and different issues and different.
08:21
That's right. And Adorette is a cloak. We'll talk about this. At times in different seasons.
08:27
So it was a very natural thing. And yet this mantle, this cloaking had become so saturated with the presence of the
08:33
Lord. See, this is what happened to Jesus's garment. That's why they pressed in to touch the garment. No, no.
08:39
All right. We got to do some corrective work here. Okay. So let's take a look here. So in the
08:45
King James, when you read the King James in first Kings 1913 and second
08:52
Kings two verse eight, you'll note that it mentions
08:57
Elijah's cloak. The Hebrew word here is Adorette. And what, and let me just show you what this means.
09:04
So if I were to go over here, double click, and so Adorette, glory, magnificence, a vine of shepherds, or a mantle, a cloak, which is a wide garment of hair as a prophetic mantle.
09:19
Okay. So we're talking about Elijah's outer cloak that he wore. And it becomes a symbol if you would, of the
09:27
Holy Spirit on Elijah. Because how do prophets prophesy?
09:34
They don't prophesy their own will. They prophesy as the Holy Spirit overshadows them, as the Holy Spirit speaks to them, and things like this.
09:42
Okay. So that's where this comes up. So let me show you a couple of places where this is mentioned, and then we'll take a look at the longer reading of second
09:49
Kings two. And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.
09:57
And behold, there came a voice to him and said, what are you doing here, Elijah? So when Elijah heard the low whisper, when he's at Mount Sinai, he wrapped his face in his cloak so he wouldn't see the face of God kind of thing.
10:09
And then second Kings chapter eight, okay, Elijah took his cloak, that's again,
10:15
Adorette, which is what gets translated as mantle in the King James, rolled it up and struck the water and the water was parted to one side or to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground.
10:28
Okay. So in the types and shadows, Elijah's cloak, mantle, is symbolic of the
10:38
Holy Spirit that is on him. That's how it's playing here.
10:43
And there's an important reason why. So let's take a look at the longer reading then in second
10:49
Kings chapter two about Elijah being taken to heaven and what it's pointing to. Remember, the scriptures are about Christ.
10:56
They're not about you. That being the case, there's something really important going on here that's being played out in the types and shadows.
11:04
And I'll show you a church father who legitimately nailed it and saw this connection and how he makes that connection and this is the right connection and then how this impacts us.
11:14
Okay. Now, when Yahweh was about to take Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal and Elijah said to Elisha, please stay here for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.
11:29
But Elisha said, as Yahweh lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you. So they went down to Bethel, which means house of God.
11:38
And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came to Elisha and said to him, do you know that today
11:44
Yahweh will take away your master from over you? And he said, yes, I know it. Keep quiet.
11:50
Elijah said to him, Elisha, please stay here for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho. But he said, as Yahweh lives and as you yourself live,
11:58
I will not leave you. So they came to Jericho and the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho drew near to Elisha and said to him, do you know that today
12:06
Yahweh will take away your master from over you? And he said, yes, I know it.
12:12
Keep quiet. Then Elijah said to him, please stay here for Yahweh has sent me to the
12:17
Jordan. But he said, as Yahweh lives and as you yourself live, I will not leave you. So the two of them went on.
12:24
50 men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them as they both were standing by the
12:31
Jordan. Then Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water.
12:36
And the water was parted on the one side and on the other till the two of them could go over on dry ground.
12:43
When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, ask what
12:49
I shall do for you before I am taken from you. And Elisha said, please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.
12:58
Now what's the spirit that's on Elijah? It's the Holy Spirit, right? And he said, you have asked a hard thing.
13:03
Yet, if you see me as I am being taken from you, it shall be so for you. But if you do not see me, it shall not be so.
13:12
And as they still went on and talked, behold, chariots of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them.
13:19
And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it and cried, my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen.
13:29
And he saw him no more. And then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.
13:34
And he took up the cloak, the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and went back and stood on the bank of the
13:44
Jordan. Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water saying, where is
13:49
Yahweh, the God of Elijah? And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other.
13:55
And Elisha went on. Elisha has the same spirit operating in him as Elijah had.
14:03
And the cloak is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. But what is this all pointing to?
14:09
Answer, this is pointing to something in the New Testament, and that's the ascension of Christ, right?
14:17
So note, here's what it says in Acts 1, 6. So when they had come together, they asked him, they asked
14:25
Jesus, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said to them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons that the
14:31
Father has fixed by his own authority, but you will receive power when the
14:37
Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.
14:45
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight.
14:52
And while they were gazing into heaven, as he went, as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes and said, men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?
15:01
This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.
15:07
And then, okay, and then what happens immediately after this? Well, immediately after this is the day of Pentecost and the receiving of the
15:16
Holy Spirit. You see, the connection between Elijah and his cloak, you know, it's a symbol of the power of the
15:24
Holy Spirit and Jesus is that Elijah in the type and shadows with his ascension into heaven and the cloak being given then to Elisha is the same story.
15:36
It's just in the types and shadows. And let me show you it in the writings of the church fathers. The Venerable Bede is the name of this church father.
15:43
And here's what he said regarding this passage, the Old Testament passage we read, the prophets proclaimed the mystery of the
15:50
Lord's ascension, not only by their words, but also by their actions, both Enoch the seventh in the line of the descent from Adam who was transported from the world.
16:01
And Elijah who was taken up into heaven gave evidence that the Lord would ascend above all the heavens.
16:08
Elijah presented an image of this festivity of the Lord by a miracle with, with, with richer significance.
16:16
When the time in which he was to be taken away from the world was near, he came to the river Jordan with his disciple,
16:23
Elisha. With his rolled up cloak, he struck the waters. They were divided and both of them crossed over on dry land.
16:31
And he said to Elisha, ask what you want me to do before I am taken away from you.
16:37
And Elisha said, I entreat you that your spirit may become double in me. And they went on conversing together.
16:45
Behold, Elijah was suddenly snatched away. And as the scripture says, he ascended as if into heaven by this action of his soaring aloft.
16:53
It is meant that Elijah was not taken up into heaven itself as was our
16:59
Lord, but into the height of the air above the earth from where he was born invisibly to the joys of paradise.
17:05
Elisha took up the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and coming to the river
17:12
Jordan, he struck the water with it. And after calling on God, he divided the water and crossed over.
17:17
So let your love take note, my brothers, how the symbolic event agrees point by point with its fulfillment.
17:25
Elijah came to the river Jordan and having laid aside his cloak, he struck the waters and divided them.
17:31
And the Lord came to the stream of death in which the human race ordinarily was immersed and laying aside from himself for a time, the clothing of flesh that he had assumed.
17:41
He struck down death by dying and opened up for us the way of life by rising.
17:48
The change and decline of our mortal life is properly represented by the river Jordan. Since the meaning of the
17:54
Jordan in Latin is that their descent. And since as the river flows into the dead sea, it loses its praiseworthy waters.
18:02
After the water of the river Jordan was divided, Elijah and Elisha crossed over on dry land by his rising from the dead.
18:09
The savior bestowed on his faithful ones, the hope of rising to after they had crossed over the river
18:15
Jordan, Elijah gave Elisha the option of asking for what he wanted. The Lord too, after the glory of his resurrection had been fulfilled and planted in his disciples, a fuller comprehension of what he had promised previously, that whatever you ask in my name,
18:29
I will do for you. Note the connections to Christ. It's so good. Elisha asking that the spirit of Elijah might become double in him.
18:37
The disciples thoroughly instructed by the Lord desired to receive the promise gift of the Holy Spirit, which would make them capable of preaching not only to the single nation of Judah, which he himself taught when he was president in the flesh, but to all countries throughout the globe as well.
18:53
Did he not pledge the double grace of his spirit when he said, a person who believes in me will himself also do the works that I do, and he will do even greater ones than these.
19:07
As Elijah and Elisha were conversing together, a chariot with fiery horses suddenly snatched
19:12
Elijah as if into heaven. By the chariot and fiery horses, we are to understand the angelic powers of whom it is written.
19:20
He makes his angels, his spirits, and his ministers of burning fire. Elijah being an ordinary human being had need of them to be raised up from the earth.
19:30
The Lord too was suddenly taken up as he was speaking with his disciples, his apostles, as they were looking on.
19:36
Although he was not assisted by the help of angels, he was served by an angelic band of companions.
19:42
He was truly assumed into heaven with the angels also bearing witness to it. For they said to the apostles, this
19:48
Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven, when Elijah was raised up into the heavens, he let the cloak with which he had been clothed fall to Elisha.
20:00
When our Lord ascended into heaven, he left the mysteries of humanity, and he assumed to his disciples, to the entire church in fact, so that it could be sanctified by them and warmed by the power of his love.
20:14
Elijah took up Elijah's cloak and struck the waters of the river Jordan with it. And when he had called on the
20:20
God of Elijah, the waters were divided and he crossed over. The apostles in the entire church took up the sacraments of their
20:27
Redeemer that had been instituted through the apostles so that spiritually guided by them and cleansed and consecrated by them, they too learned to overcome death's assaults by calling on the name of God, the
20:40
Father, and to cross over to the undying life, spurting the obstacles of death. So the idea here is that all this
20:49
Pentecostal talk of mantles misses the point. They understand it's connected to the
20:55
Holy Spirit somehow, but they don't see that this is pointing to Christ. The story of Elijah and Elisha is the story of Christ and his disciples,
21:05
Elijah being taken to heaven, his cloak, his mantle falling, Jesus ascending into heaven, the
21:11
Holy Spirit coming. You see, the two go together. And so Robert Henderson, who again is completely oblivious to how to rightly handle a biblical text, and I mean oblivious, this man is abysmal, is now just making stuff up.
21:28
And as a result of it, he's blindly groping in the dark trying to figure out how to connect this all and then making these stupid claims that you have to have mantles and stuff.
21:38
I have the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I'm a Christian, sir. I am a penitent, baptized believer in Jesus Christ.
21:45
Of course I have the Holy Spirit. I have the mantle. Every Christian who is a
21:52
Christian has the mantle. That's the point of how the types and shadows work. So now he's taking the type and shadow and turning it into something literal and missing the whole point that it points to Christ.
22:03
So let me back this up. Here we go. Natural thing, and yet this mantle, this cloaking, had become so saturated with the presence of the
22:10
Lord. See, this is what happened to Jesus' garment. That's why they pressed in to touch the garment of Jesus. It was because that garment was saturated with the anointing of God that was upon Jesus' life.
22:21
You see, when we walk with the Lord and we cultivate the presence and the glory of God on our life, even our clothing began to carry the anointing of God.
22:28
Which scripture says that? Which scripture says that, you know, if we are in the presence of God, our clothing can carry the anointing of God?
22:38
No biblical text says that. You're just making stuff up, sir. So Elisha is desiring, is longing for that presence, that glory that has been upon Elijah's life.
22:50
No, you just read that into the text. That's not what Elijah was desiring.
22:56
He was desiring the spirit that Elijah was operating on. So I want to encourage you today.
23:02
Go after the anointing. Remember, Elijah walked by... I already have it. All Christians have the anointing of the
23:09
Holy Spirit. Full stop. Period. ...Elisha and cast his mantle on him.
23:15
He didn't say a word to him, but when Elisha felt the touch, the touch of that anointing, when he felt the touch, it changed his life forever.
23:22
The Bible... No, the text doesn't say that. You're adding to this text, sir. That's called eisegesis. It's a form of scripture twisting, and boy, are you doing it hard.
23:31
...says he got up, he killed the oxen he was plowing with, it was an act of separation, and he ran after Elijah.
23:38
Elijah said, what did I do to you? In other words, there was no human manipulation. I want to assure you, when you feel, when you are touched by the anointing of his presence, when the mantle of God has fallen upon you, there will be no need for human manipulation because...
23:53
What are you even talking about? I mean, seriously, this is just a bunch of nonsense at this point.
24:00
That which you have felt, that which you have encountered, will drive your life forever and ever. And so I want to encourage you today, go after the mantle.
24:07
That's exactly what Elijah... I already have it. When you understand how this connects to Jesus, I have the
24:14
Holy Spirit. I'm a disciple of Christ. I've been mantled with the Holy Spirit, given him, and...
24:22
He knew he had to get up and he had to go after the mantle that he had experienced on a momentary level, because that momentary touch had caused him to want to possess it forever.
24:34
See, no text says that. You just totally read that into the text. It doesn't say that in 2
24:40
Kings 2, at all. Or even when Elijah and Elisha first met, it doesn't say that either.
24:46
God wants to touch us with something that's so supernatural that we can never be the same again.
24:53
2 Kings, Chapter 2, verses 13 through 14. He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him and went back.
25:00
He stood by the bank of the Jordan. Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him and he struck the water.
25:05
And he said, where is the Lord God of Elijah? And when he had struck the water, it was divided this way and that, and Elisha crossed over.
25:13
So this is the occasion where Elisha possesses, completely and totally, that mantle that he had been touched by in previous times.
25:22
So I want to encourage you, go after the mantle that God has for you today. Now, again, since this is pointing to Christ's ascension and him giving the
25:36
Holy Spirit, I've been mantled. I've been mantled the entire time
25:41
I've been a Christian. And any Christian who's a Christian has been mantled. We all have the anointing of the
25:47
Holy Spirit. What you are saying is complete nonsense. And it's a non -biblical redundancy because you keep moving the goalpost as far as defining what it is you're even talking about.
26:05
Anyway, I'm going to spontaneously combust if I continue listening to this man because it's so bad.
26:11
So I have to jump off at this point. Hopefully you found this episode of Fighting for the
26:18
Faith helpful and you've now been able to make the connection between Elijah going up into heaven and his mantle, his cloak falling and Christ's ascension and him sending the
26:28
Holy Spirit. That's the connection that the Holy Spirit would want you to make. And you would realize that you've been mantled in the truest sense because everybody who's a
26:37
Christian has the Holy Spirit. Hopefully this was helpful. If so, all the information on how you can share the video is down below in the description.
26:45
Quick shout out and a thank you to every one of you who support us financially and make it possible for us to bring
