We're living in a culture today where an unbelievable percentage of the population hates God, hates

Christians, and hates the Bible. Of course, most of them would never say this out loud. And in fact, many of them would go so far as to even call themselves

Christians, to call themselves the true lovers of God. That's what we saw from Senator Raphael Warnock, who calls himself a reverend, yet supports policies that are abhorrent to a holy and righteous

God, policies that glorify sexual immorality and the ending of pre -born life in the womb.

That's what we saw from Stacey Abrams, who unashamedly calls herself a Christian, and received enormous support from numerous supposedly

Christian churches, including from Creflo Dollar, one of the most popular pastors in the United States today.

However, like Warnock, Abrams proudly fights for policies that the Bible clearly calls sin, and not only sin, but an abomination.

And when churches are now hosting drag queens, and having these drag queens influence and educate young children, we know that these are dark days we are living in, that we are living in a time of God's severe judgment upon this nation for its rejection of his good and holy moral law.

When there is so much depravity around us, so much hatred of the Christian God, and all who stand firm upon the unpopular truths of his revelation, even from many who would call themselves

Christians, it can be easy to lose hope, to feel like we, as the remnant of true Christians in this nation, are fighting a losing battle.

However, as Christians who believe in a sovereign and mighty God, there is absolutely no reason to lose hope.

In fact, we should be the ones with more hope than anyone else, because we know that God has planned the end from the beginning, because we know that Jesus reigns supreme even today, that he sits at the right hand of Almighty God even now, and that he will save every single one of his beloved people.

Jesus presented himself as the Messiah, the Son of God. The nations are his birthright.

They are his inheritance. And we are the means through which he claims this inheritance, as we preach the gospel.

And men are saved as they're snatched out of the kingdom of darkness and brought into the kingdom of light.

Even though the most powerful forces in the most powerful country in the world are amassed against God and his people, we know that not only will

God win the victory over all of his enemies, we know that in the most significant way, he already has won the victory over all his enemies through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, his

Son. Even now, God is changing the hearts of those who once were his enemies, giving them new life through the power of the

Holy Spirit, and snatching them out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, giving them everlasting joy and hope through Christ Jesus.

And as Christians, we fight this battle not physically, but rather, we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, knowing that it alone has the power to save, conquer, and redeem.

Imagine, again, here's the picture. The picture is that the armies of the world are amassed against God and against his anointed.

And here's the king on his holy hill. And here's this massive army. And as the gospel is preached by the people of God, people lay down their weapons, leave their post, and run to the king on his hill.

That's how we fight. That's how we fight. That's the picture. As Christians, our primary job is not to win political victories, however nice that might be, but rather to proclaim the gospel that saves sinners from the terrifying wrath and judgment of God.

And we should have utmost confidence as we proclaim this message because we know that the power to change hearts is not in our own hands, but in the hands of our sovereign

God, who created the universe and has absolute power and control over all his creation. And let me just pause and say this.

This is what gives us confidence in evangelism and missions. Amen? This is what gives us confidence because there's never a question and the outcome is never in doubt.

God will have his victory. Christ will have the fullness of the reward for which he died. We can know that.

We can rest assured. And we can preach the gospel in faith, knowing that God will save his people through the foolishness of our preaching.

And so we preach the gospel and press the claims of Christ in a hostile world.

We need to remind our culture, including the professing Christians who support the evils of this culture, that while they might think that they have the victory, while they might think that the number of Christians in this country are shrinking and have less influence than ever before, there is a day of judgment coming, and that the only escape from the fury and wrath of God is through bowing the knee to Jesus Christ, who is

King of kings and Lord of lords. But we also remind men of the judgment that is to come.

That is just as much our duty. That's what we do as the church militant.

We preach the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And part of that truth is warning men of the coming judgment.

Revelation 2 27. He will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my father.

Revelation 12 5. She gave birth to a male child, one who was to rule all the nations with a rod of iron.

But her child was caught up to God and to his throne. Revelation 19 15. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.

He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.

We warn men of the judgment to come. Fallen people may look to the government for salvation. They may look to political power and the culture for salvation.

But there is absolutely no salvation found in anything other than through repentance and faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.

They may think they are winning the war because they are winning politically or culturally. But they are sorely mistaken. On the last day,

God will break all of his enemies and cast them into an eternal pit of darkness and suffering, which all sinners fully deserve for rebelling against their infinitely holy and righteous creator.

And that leaves us with the final movement. The final movement is this. Sinful man has only one hope, and that is repentance.

That's it, is repentance. He can't win the war with God.

His war with God will end in him being smashed by a rod of iron.

The nations that rage against God will bow before God and will be ruled by God.

The enemies of God and God's people have absolutely no hope of winning the battle against God and his moral standards.

They may make it legal and even celebrate it to engage in sinful behavior, but their rebellion and war against God is ultimately futile.

The end is already certain, and if they want any hope of victory, they will recognize that their only hope is repentance, humility, and submission before God and Jesus Christ, who is their

Lord and King even today. So they have no hope of victory. Their only hope is repentance.

Verses 10 through 12, that last movement. Now, therefore, because what we've seen here, sinful man's going to war with God.

What a beautiful picture. Our God is awesome and terrible, and yet we rejoice in him. Many Christians today present

God as a weak, sentimental, and sappy God who loves every single person in the exact same way. God will never, never, never, never, never, never stop loving you.

Even if you chose to reject him and go to hell, God will still love you. Instead, I don't condemn you.

I want you all to leave your life of sin. And if you don't, I love you. And if you can't,

But Scripture teaches something completely different. Scripture teaches us about a God who is holy, righteous, and who will ultimately crush all of his enemies.

Yes, God will save all his people who repent and turn to Christ in faith. But God will also pour out his righteous wrath upon all who persist in their evil and rebellion against him.

So repent and flee to Christ before it's too late. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way. For his wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are those who take refuge in him. We begin in the exact opposite place, or we end in the exact opposite place from where we began.
