The doctor of the week for this Sunday is the last days. Did you know that we're living in the last days?
Well, it's true, and let me explain that. The phrase the last days is found five times in the
New Testament. And while people tend to think of the last days as being synonymous with the end times, that's not necessarily the case.
Hebrews chapter one, beginning with verse one, it says,
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his son.
And that was written 1900 years ago. So the last days is the time period spanning from the first advent of Christ to the second advent of Christ.
This age, sometimes called the church age. These are the last days before that final day of the
Lord. After the day of the Lord, eternity is ushered in with the new heavens and the new earth.
So technically, we have been living in the last days for the past 2000 years as the church awaits the
Lord's return in the clouds of heaven. An event that is imminent.
That is, any generation could be the generation that sees the Lord's return.
