- 00:00
- Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to the channel where the Bible and critical thinking meet to give you real
- 00:05
- Christian commentary about the things that matter. Thanks so much for watching, let's get into the video. So Kenneth Copeland is a famous pastor who provides a never -ending stream of false teaching so massive that it makes
- 00:18
- Niagara Falls look like your kitchen faucet. He is part of the Prosperity Gospel and Word of Faith movements, which are theological movements that believe
- 00:25
- God will, as a guarantee, grant health and wealth to all Christians in exchange for their faith.
- 00:32
- But I believe that in this video, I have found for you the single most heretical and unbiblical comment
- 00:38
- Kenneth Copeland has ever made. Because in this video, Kenneth asks an interesting question, and gives an even more interesting answer.
- 00:46
- Who is the greatest failure in the Bible? And he talks about how many people would say that Judas is the biggest failure, others would say
- 00:53
- Satan is, but he has a, let's say, unique answer. Check this out. "...the
- 01:28
- first man he ever created, first woman he ever created, the whole earth, and all the fullness therein, a third of the angels, at least, that's a big loss, man.
- 01:44
- I mean you figure out, that's a lot of real estate, brother, gone down the drain."
- 01:49
- So Kenneth says that God is the biggest failure in the Bible. He actually says that.
- 01:54
- And, besides the fact that this is an obviously blasphemous and disgusting, unbiblical comment, it's just plain wrong.
- 02:01
- It's incorrect. It's not true. Because the truth is, God is as much a failure as Kenneth Copeland is a healer.
- 02:08
- That is to say, not at all. But Kenneth Copeland offers us evidence, biblical evidence even, that he believes will prove his case.
- 02:15
- So, let me deal with that evidence using Scripture in three points. Number one, God did not fail in the situations that Kenneth mentioned.
- 02:24
- Those situations are Lucifer turning against him, Adam sinning against God in the garden, and one -third of his angels falling into darkness.
- 02:32
- Now, all of these situations Kenneth talks about, those actually did happen. They are offered as true stories in Scripture, and as such,
- 02:40
- I believe every single one of them transpired just exactly in the way it was written. However, none of these qualify as failures from God's perspective.
- 02:48
- You say, Colin, how on earth could those situations not be failures? Well, here's why. Because failure is what happens when you attempt to do one thing, and another thing happens.
- 02:59
- Failure is what happens when you have a goal that you have set out to achieve, and you come up short of that goal.
- 03:06
- But God has never come up short of any goal He's ever set out to achieve. The Bible declares this to be so in Isaiah 46 10, when it says, quote,
- 03:15
- My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.
- 03:21
- This passage clearly states that every single thing God wants to do, every purpose
- 03:27
- He has, He accomplishes. Every single thing He wants to complete is completed. He does not struggle.
- 03:33
- He does not fail. He is called God Almighty for a reason. This brings me to point number two.
- 03:40
- Kenneth's position here is both self -defeating and illogical. You see, the only reason that this heretic,
- 03:46
- Kenneth Copeland, is able to utter these disgusting blasphemies is because God does not fail to hold every atom, every cell of His body together up until this very minute.
- 03:57
- So when Kenneth Copeland says that God is a failure, ironically, in order for him to even make that statement,
- 04:03
- God had to succeed. More than this, God is the one who saves us. Ephesians 1 5 makes this clear when it says, quote,
- 04:10
- He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ according to the purpose of His will.
- 04:17
- So if God can fail, then there is no assurance of salvation. You see, if God can fail, then what if He simply fails to save you?
- 04:25
- What if He simply fails to bring you into eternal life? Did you ever think of that? Our entire hope lies in the fact that God is perfect and never fails to accomplish all of His purpose.
- 04:39
- That's what the book of Isaiah says. But Kenneth Copeland wants you to just throw that out.
- 04:44
- He wants you to believe that God is the biggest failure in the Bible. And this brings me to point number three.
- 04:51
- What is Kenneth Copeland's reason for saying these things? Well, he actually reveals his reason for saying these things at the end of his statement.
- 04:59
- Check this out. Now, the reason you don't think of God as a failure is
- 05:05
- He never said He's a failure. And you're not a failure till you say you're one.
- 05:11
- He effectively says the only reason we don't consider God a failure is because God never admitted
- 05:17
- He was. And you're only a failure if you say you're one. This is a Joel Osteen -size amount of foolishness.
- 05:24
- It would take years to clean up all the rubbish that can be found in Kenneth Copeland's theology.
- 05:30
- But I digress. Stop with this positive thinking, this conceive, believe, achieve garbage in the church.
- 05:37
- This comes from pagan ideology, law of attraction stuff, and it's not doing the church any favors.
- 05:44
- You see, we're not a bunch of beatniks and hippies in the church. Our faith is not in our positive self -love or self -talk that sustains us as Christians.
- 05:52
- No, it is our faith in Christ that sustains us. And more than that, this idea that as long as you don't think you're a failure, then you aren't one, that just simply isn't true.
- 06:03
- And like I said, there's a common pagan thread to all of this. Basically, this philosophy says that we can change the physical state of the world.
- 06:12
- We can change our standing with God, even, simply by thinking enough positive thoughts in our head.
- 06:18
- This is very dangerous New Age teaching that will not be found in the pages of God's Word.
- 06:24
- When Timothy told Paul that he was having severe stomach pain, Paul said to him in 1 Timothy 5 .23,
- 06:30
- no longer drink only water, but drink a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
- 06:37
- Why didn't Paul just say, Timothy, you need to simply believe that your stomach is not hurting.
- 06:42
- You need to meditate and become one with your stomach. Unleash the power of positive thinking and essential oils,
- 06:48
- Timothy. That's what you must do. Paul didn't say any of that because, guess what? Paul was a
- 06:54
- Christian, and he knew that we need the Word of God, not clever tips and tricks from the world.
- 07:00
- We've already tried those things, and they just don't work. Because as Hebrews 4 .12 says, the
- 07:06
- Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two -edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
- 07:18
- The Word of God is always effective, and it doesn't need us to spice it up, so to speak.
- 07:24
- So guys, don't be tempted into the trendy false teaching of Kenneth Copeland or anyone like him.
- 07:30
- Go to a good, sound church with good, sound teaching about Christ, because that is what really transforms a person's heart, as opposed to all of this shallow nonsense that will fall flat.
- 07:41
- And please pray for Kenneth, in addition to the people that he's been deceiving for many years, pray that they would turn away from this madness and believe the truth of God's Word.
