We'll demonstrate that momentarily. Case in point, we're going to head over to the Jim Baker show, and we're going to be listening to Jim Baker talking with John Kilpatrick.

It's going to be a small little portion of this, but we're going to take a look at what

Scripture says regarding the man of lawlessness and the temple of God, and we're going to note what

Scripture says in this regard, because unfortunately there's a lot of error, a lot of misinformation regarding this being kicked around the

Church, and I understand what I'm going to say is going to be controversial, but that's okay, I never want you to watch or to listen to fighting for the faith with an open mind,

I don't need that, you don't need to give me the benefit of the doubt, just watch with an open Bible, and we help you with that by actually putting the

Bible on the screen. So let's head over to the Jim Baker show, and we'll let

Jim Baker and John Kilpatrick set this up, and then we'll take a look at what the

Bible teaches in this regard. America is in a mess. What's going on?

What do you see for this year right now? Where are we? I really think that Satan has got a major diversion going on.

I think that the country and the nations are focused on Washington, and they're focused on Pelosi and Trump and Schumer and all those people.

But I think while that's going on, there's a lot of things that's going on in the Middle East, Syria, and other places like that, other places in the world where prophecies are getting ready to be fulfilled, including the rebuilding of the

Third Temple. All right, now the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Now a lot of people think that the prophet

Ezekiel prophesied the rebuilding of the Third Temple. I would take you to Ezekiel 47,

I'm not going to do this right now, Ezekiel 47, and you'll note there's some interesting things going on with the

Temple, apparently the Temple has a river flowing from it, and that river will flow into the

Dead Sea and make it come to life again. I would cross -reference that text,

Ezekiel 47, with the book of Revelation chapters 20 and 21 in particular, it'll help you out because Ezekiel is in fact giving us a symbolic picture of a

Third Temple, not an actual Third Temple that is going to be rebuilt in Jerusalem.

That's not the point of what he's pointing to, he's not talking to some end -times Temple, instead he's referring to something quite different.

And so I'll see if you can connect the two together, but we'll let John Kilpatrick put his hands down now and continue to spin this out.

Here we go. I think while people's looking... Do you believe that's going to happen? Oh yeah, I do, yeah. Now I'm going to back this up because he thinks that what's going to happen is that there's going to be a

Temple rebuilt in Jerusalem. There's a lot of things that's going on in the Middle East, Syria, and other places like that, other places in the world where prophecies are getting ready to be fulfilled, including the rebuilding of the

Third Temple. And I think while people's looking... Do you believe that's going to happen? Oh yeah, I do, yeah.

I do too, I don't know, most guys don't. I believe that, yeah. The Bible says it's going to happen.

It has to happen. All right, now he's invoking 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, verse 4, talking about the man of lawlessness, so that he sits as God in the

Temple of God, showing himself as God. This is the MEV version, and we'll get to that shortly.

So they believe that this is an end times prophecy, that the man of lawlessness, the

Antichrist, will sit in the Temple in Jerusalem. Let me back it up just again, listen again.

Oh yeah, I do, yeah. I do too, I don't know, most guys don't.

I believe that, yeah. The Bible says it's going to happen. It has to happen, because the

Antichrist will set himself up in that Temple. And the Antichrist is not going to live forever. He's only got about a three and a half, four year, about a seven year tenure.

Good point. False prophet in the Antichrist, he's only got seven years, you know. So that Temple has got to be rebuilt.

All right, so that's all of the video we're going to look at, but this is a common teaching.

It's rampant throughout evangelicalism and dispensationalism, and this idea that there's going to be a rebuilt third

Temple. Now I couldn't tell you for sure there is or isn't going to be a third Temple.

I know that the Jews in Israel, that they want to rebuild the Temple and bring back all of the

Mosaic Covenant sacrifices. That being the case, we need to carefully look at how the

New Testament defines some things. And so we're going to go into the New Testament, and I'm going to start in Hebrews chapter 10.

We'll eventually get to 2 Thessalonians too, but I want you to note here what

Hebrews explicitly teaches. And then we'll back up into 9, and then we'll go take a look at what's going on in the rest of the stuff in the

New Testament. So here's what it says, Hebrews chapter 10 verse 1. For since the law, and this is talking about the

Mosaic Covenant, you can say the Torah, has but a shadow. Yeah. If you've heard me talk about the fact that the

Old Testament, the Old Covenant, is types and shadows, and that the substance is Christ, it was the book of Hebrews that teaches us and taught me to see it in this way.

So for since the Torah has but a shadow of the good things to come, instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.

Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins.

But in these sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year, for it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

So here's the idea. Hebrews 10 makes it clear that the temple itself is a type and a shadow, and the sacrifices that took place there before the whole thing came down,

I should say torn down, was torn down in 70 AD, they were pointing to someone or something.

Let me help us out here. Here's what it says in the Gospel of John chapter 2.

So we'll note, Hebrews 10 says that the Old Covenant's types and shadows and that the sacrifice of these animals couldn't really cleanse from sins, because they were pointing to the reality.

Watch what happens. John 2, 13. So the Passover of the Jews was at hand. Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

In the temple, he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons and the money changers sitting there, and making a whip of cords, he drove them out of the temple with the sheep and the oxen, and he poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables, and he told those who sold pigeons, take these things away.

Do not make my father's house a house of trade. And his disciples remembered that it was written, zeal for your house will consume me.

Now if you've had your money tables overturned by Jesus in the temple,

I mean, the obvious question is going to be, who made you in charge of this place? It's kind of the question that's coming up.

So the Jews said to him, so what sign do you do to show us for doing these things?

Who gave you this authority? Jesus said, watch what Jesus says. Jesus says, destroy this temple, and in three days

I'll raise it up. And the Jews said, it's taken 46 years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?

But he was speaking about the temple of his body, okay?

So the old temple that used to sit on the Temple Mount, it's not there anymore. You got the

Al -Aqsa Mosque, and you got the Dome of the Rock on the top of the Temple Mount now. But the temple that used to be there, yeah, that was pointing to Jesus.

It's already served its purpose, because it was pointing to Christ and the sacrifice of Christ.

In fact, that's the whole point of what's going on in the rest of Hebrews 10, and also back into Hebrews 9.

So here's what it says, then. Consequently, then, when Christ came into the world, he said, sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body that you have prepared for me, and burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.

So then I said, behold, I have come, and I will do your will as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.

10:17

So when he said above, you have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt and sin offerings, these are offered according to the law.

Remember, the law is a shadow. Then he added, behold, I have come to do your will, and so he does away with the first in order to establish the second.

Done away with what? The Mosaic Covenant, right? And by that will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.

So to put it bluntly, the Mosaic Covenant is kaput. It's been done away with, because we are in the new covenant, and the new covenant has been established.

That being the case, if we back up into chapter 9, then we can see what's going on regarding the sacrifice of Christ.

Hebrews 9, 11 says this, but when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent, not made with hands, that is, and not of this creation, talking about the temple that really...

Remember, when the tabernacle was created, it was a copy, a very explicit copy of the heavenly temple.

And so Jesus entered not into the earthly temple, which was a type in shadow, he entered into the real one, in heaven.

So he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves, but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

For if the blood of goats and bulls and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer sanctify for the purification of the flesh, well how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living

God? Therefore he, Jesus, is the mediator of a new covenant, the old covenant kaput, it's been done away with, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal heritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established, for a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force, as long as the one who made it is alive.

Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood, for when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, saying,

This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you. And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship, indeed under the

Torah. Almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Thus it was necessary for the, watch, the copies, the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world.

But as it is, he has appeared once and for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes the judgment, so Christ having been offered once to bear the sins of many will appear a second time not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly awaiting him.

So you get the idea. The blood of goats and bulls and lambs, they never really cleansed us from sin because they were pointing to the true temple and the true sacrifice, who is

Christ. So that being the case, would it be a good thing if the

Jews in Israel today rebuilt the temple and brought back all of the Mosaic covenant animal sacrifices?

Answer, yeah, no. Would that be the temple of God today?

No, of course not, okay? Because the Mosaic covenant has been done away with.

The new covenant has been established. So the question then is, where's the temple of God today?

So let's take a look at 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 now and look at the prophecy and then we'll see where we in the new covenant in the

New Testament have to be looking for the man of lawlessness to arise. Here's what it says.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you brothers not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed either by a spirit or a spoken word or a letter seeming to be from us to the effect that the day of the

Lord has come. So let no one deceive you in any way. That day will not come unless the rebellion, again rebellion is apostasy, the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so -called

God or object of worship so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be

God. Well, is Paul talking about a third temple built to re -fire up the

Mosaic Covenant's sacrifices? No, that wouldn't be the temple of God.

Now watch this, 1 Corinthians chapter 3, do you not know that y 'all, by the way this is a plural you, y 'all are

God's temple, and that God's spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys

God's temple, God will destroy him, for God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Same author who wrote 2 Thessalonians is the one who wrote 1 Corinthians, that's the apostle Paul. So you'll note then here a proper way of looking at this, the man of lawlessness will take his seat in the temple of God, that would be the visible

Christian church, and proclaim himself to be

God. You see what's going on here? This isn't a prophecy regarding a rebuilt third temple, and the man of lawlessness exalting himself in that third temple, the man of lawlessness is a church man, uh -huh, he's a church leader, who takes a seat in the visible church, in the temple of God, y 'all

Christians, y 'all be the temple of God. And so this is why, for millennia, people have believed that the man of lawlessness would be a church man, a world leader within visible

Christianity, uh -huh, and takes a seat in the temple of God, would be in the visible church, not in a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.

Now, I put that out there as food for thought, you know, and of course, I said, don't give me the benefit of the doubt, always listen with an open

Bible, not with an open mind. But when you see that, yeah, it doesn't make any sense that it would be a good thing that a third temple would be rebuilt, and then when you take a look at Ezekiel's prophecy regarding that temple that he's measuring and stuff like that, again, look at chapter 47, and then compare that to the end part of the book of Revelation, you'll see what's going on here.

Ezekiel's prophecy of that temple is a prophetic, symbolic picture of something, it is.
