Baptism & the Eighth Day — The Distinctives of Christ the King
Baptism is not a thin religious symbol or a sentimental ceremony. It is the covenant sign appointed by the risen Christ — God’s visible word of cleansing, union, burial, resurrection, and new creation life.
Circumcision pointed forward to the promised Seed. Baptism announces that the promised Seed has come, has died, has risen, and now claims His people in the Triune name.
Because Christ rose on the first day of the week — the eighth day — baptism belongs to the life of resurrection. It tells us that the old creation is passing away, the new creation has dawned, and all who are in Christ must walk by faith in newness of life.
The eighth day has dawned. Behold, He makes all things new.
