Hello ISU! I'd like to take a moment, I'd like to talk to you guys today. I'm with Apologia Church, and I'm not yelling,
00:08
I'm just raising my voice so you can hear me, because I don't have amplification, but I'm not mad or angry at all.
00:14
I'd like to talk about what the Bible says about socialism and justice, and what is just and what is unjust.
00:27
The Bible gives us throughout the Old Testament a standard in which to run the government, in which the government is supposed to operate, and in which the government is supposed to function.
00:41
And by those standards we can determine what is just. Or as a lot of you like to say, what is social justice?
00:51
How do we deal with the poor, or the needy, or those who are hungry, or those who aren't getting paid as much as the billionaires?
01:01
The Bible gives us all those answers, and one of the warnings that He gives in dealing with these matters of justice, is
01:11
He warns not to demand a king. The principles of government that God set up in Scripture is for small government.
01:21
And if you read through 1 Samuel 8, it says, So Samuel told all the words of the
01:27
Lord to the people who were asking for a king from him. He said, these will be the ways of the king who will reign over you.
01:34
He will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots, and to be his horsemen, and to run before his chariots.
01:42
He will appoint for himself commanders of thousands, and commanders of fifties, some to plow his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war, and the equipment of his chariots.
01:56
He will take your daughters to be perfumers, and cooks, and bakers. He will take the best of your fields, and vineyards, and olives, orchards, and give them to his servants.
02:06
He will take tenth of your grain, and of your vineyards, and give them to his officers, and to his servants.
02:14
If you see there, God is warning of a judgment on Israel. And get this, part of that judgment is 10 % taxation rate.
02:26
A 10 % taxation rate is the punishment for demanding a king or requesting big government.
02:35
But yet we live in a day where people like Bernie Sanders, and Alexander Ocasio -Cortez are saying, tax people 90%, tax them 70%, tax them higher.
02:49
So you guys want nine times higher tax rates than what
02:55
God said would be a punishment on people for demanding a king back in the time of Israel.
03:03
See the problem is that when we see the king, or the state, or the government as our
03:10
Savior, we think that the laws of the government, or the laws of the king, will be what saves us, when in actuality the laws of the king enslave us.
03:26
See the Bible gives us throughout the Old Testament, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, the
03:33
Bible gives us a standard for how our government should operate. Who should be punished for sin?
03:40
Who should be punished for crimes? What is a sin? What is a crime?
03:45
Is something a sin and a crime? Or is something a crime but never a sin?
03:52
And those are the standards in which we use to determine a just form of government.
03:59
Who should we vote for? What laws should that candidate demand that our government uphold?
04:06
Those are the standards of justice that we should esteem as righteous standards.
04:14
But we haven't flipped on our head. Nowadays, if a woman murders her child, moments after it's born, that woman is charged with murder.
04:29
But if she pays somebody to murder her child, while it's still within the womb, she gets away with it.
04:37
There was a lady who was charged with murder because she forced a miscarriage because she had taken meth.
04:46
And that meth caused her baby to die and to be miscarried.
04:51
And she's charged with murder. But if she would have went to CVS and bought a morning after pill, then she wouldn't have been charged with murder if she did it with permission of the government, according to the government's deemed ways to murder your child.
05:10
Another lady the other day, she stabbed her newborn baby with a knife six to seven times.
05:18
And her crime was that she didn't pay an abortion doctor to rip the child into pieces.
05:25
So see, a government that abandons God's law or God's standard has a corrupted, perverted sense of justice.
05:38
Here's another example. Another standard of justice is that you think it's just to tax the wealthy, to steal their money, to take what doesn't belong to you and give it to other people.
05:57
That is theft. Here's another form of injustice.
06:03
Arresting people by the thousands because they have a taillight out or because they have a plant in their pocket that the government doesn't agree that they should have.
06:17
These are other forms of injustice that is plaguing our society.
06:24
But instead of looking to God's laws for how government should be operated, what does the
06:29
Bible say about capitalism and basic economics and punishing those who have done wicked?
06:35
Instead of doing that, we demand an even more powerful king and even more powerful leader and even bigger governments that is enslaving us as a solution to our enslavement.
06:49
It's ridiculous. This is why the Bible says, who the Son has set free,
06:55
He is surely set free indeed. Yeah, sure. Why don't you come over here?
07:02
So here's what I'm saying. The Bible says that the law, the
07:11
Bible says that the gospel gives us a love for God's law and God's law sets us free.
07:19
It gives us freedom. It turns nations, it makes nations wealthy and it rids nations of oppression and wage gaps.
07:34
The Bible is what God gives us as a standard for justice.
07:39
And here's how you know that God's justice is true. 2 ,000 years ago, the
07:46
God of the universe, Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin and He lived on this planet for 33 years.
07:53
For 33 years, He did no harm. He did no wrong.
08:04
And yet He was punished unjustly on the cross. He was punished for sins that He did not commit.
08:12
The people demanded that He receive justice for something
08:18
He has not sinned against. For example, demanding that people receive justice from the government because they're wealthy is not a just standard.
08:33
Demanding that the government hold people responsible for being wealthy is not a standard in which people should be punished.
08:43
But here's Jesus Christ. He's on the cross. He's being tortured and battered and beaten and bruised for the sins of other people.
08:56
And He died on that cross. And three days later, He rose again, defeating death.
09:01
And 40 days later, He sits at the right. He rises up into heaven and He sits at the right hand of God with all glory and honor and power that is due to Him.
09:13
He is the King of the universe. He is eliminating all forms of injustice that are actually injustice.
09:23
Abortion, for example, is an actual injustice. Not letting women have an abortion is a form of justice.
09:33
Punishing women who have abortions is a form of justice.
09:39
And we know that because the Bible makes it clear that thou shalt not murder. And the government is to terrorize those who do evil.
09:50
And everybody out here is going to stand before God for their sins. They're going to stand before God for the grave acts that they've committed, whether they've murdered their child, whether they've stolen something lied, whether they've coveted the wealth of another individual, or they coveted the tax money of another individual.
10:15
The Bible says, thou shalt not covet, thou shalt not steal. Socialism, which many of you guys root for, the sign over there says capitalism kills.
10:27
But the truth is that capitalism, which is God's standard economy that he has created in this world with laws and protections within itself to be self -regulating, capitalism has rescued more people from poverty and given more people jobs than any other economic system in this nation.
10:56
And yet you guys want free health care, you want free abortions, free
11:03
Medicare for all. You want to steal stuff from other people so you can get things for free.
11:14
And the Bible calls this unjust, it's sin. And Jesus Christ is
11:23
King of all the world. He's Lord of all creation. He demands that governments and kings follow the laws in accordance with His will.
11:34
That's why He's given us instructions on how to deal with sexual sins.
11:41
And instructions on how the government is to deal with women who claim to be men or men who pretend to be women.
11:50
The Bible makes it clear about such immorality and foolishness. To be honest with you, it's foolishness.
12:00
And the Bible says in Romans that confessing to be wise, they become fools and exchange the glory of an immortal
12:09
God for images resembling mortal men and creatures and crawling things.
12:17
The Bible makes it very clear that when you abandon God as a standard of knowledge, when you abandon
12:24
God as a standard of reason, you are the one who becomes the fool.
12:30
And I can prove it to you. So on this campus, we have Lawrence Krauss.
12:37
And Lawrence Krauss was accused of sexual sin, sexual abuse, sexual crimes.
12:48
Now, if we hold to Lawrence Krauss' worldview that men and women are nothing more than bags of protoplasm spinning around an empty list universe for billions upon billions of years, by what standard can you make a morally objective claim that something like rape is wrong or something like rape is good or bad?
13:17
See, the point is, without an objective standard of morality, you can't say that what
13:24
Lawrence Krauss did was right or wrong or wrong or right.
13:30
Because Lawrence Krauss is technically nothing more than a bag of protoplasm carrying atoms in an empty list universe on a rock spinning around another giant ball of plasma.
13:43
You can't get moral absolutes from that. You can't get moral absolutes from a universe that doesn't care about you.
13:57
You can't get moral truths from emptiness.
14:08
But the reason that you know that rape is wrong, that sex abuse is immoral, is not because you are a bag of protoplasm with an evolved sense of knowledge after billions of years.
14:23
The reason you know that rape is wrong is because you are created in the image of God and God has given you a conscience, that word meaning con, with, science, knowledge, with knowledge, you're with knowledge, your conscience tells you what is right and wrong because you are created in the image of a holy
14:46
God. I spoke here last week with a guy and he told me, he said, there can be no objective morality in an empty universe.
15:02
There just can't be. He said the reason, this is actually what he said, he said the reason why
15:08
I think rape is wrong is because I think rape is gross.
15:16
That was his answer. That's the best answer an atheist can give to an objective morality.
15:28
So let me ask you this, ASU, how can you say on one hand, one thing is immoral, but on the other hand, the other thing is moral?
15:40
What makes Bernie Sanders moral and Donald Trump immoral?
15:46
What makes capitalism evil and socialism righteous? By what standard do you determine objective truth?
15:56
That truth can only be found at the cross of Jesus Christ 2 ,000 years ago.
16:05
When the sins for objective, when the punishment for objective immoral activity, the objective sins were placed, the punishment was placed on Jesus Christ for the sins of wicked men, even though Christ has never committed an evil act from the time he was born to the time that he died.
16:35
He was tortured and battered and beaten and bruised for the sins of wicked people. So I ask you to look to that standard of justice, look to that standard of morality, look to that standard and beg
16:51
God to change your hearts and give you a knowledge of him that longs for objective justice and objective truth.
16:59
Beg God to save you, to give you a hatred of sin and a love for Christ.
