And it really is an important thing, because, of course, the imagery of Satan is nothing new. The imagery of Satan goes back several thousand years.

There are references to Satan in the Hebrew Bible. There are references, obviously, throughout Christian theology to Satan.

But it's the picture of the sort of modern Satan as a as a good character that I think is worthy of note here.

Satanism. I mean, full on embraced Satanism. Our adulation is supposed to be focused primarily on the singers

Kim Petras and Sam Smith. They're both white males, but their win is the in the best pop duo category, supposed to be a victory for diversity and inclusion, as these are white males who self identify as something other than white males.

What we're supposed to see is unity in Christ's body. But instead, what we see in that first paragraph is that men are enemies of God, enemies of Christ.

We're supposed to see that glory that the body gives to its head. But instead, what we see is man because of his flesh, because of his body, because of his mind, pursuing his own glory and his own appetites as opposed to the glory of God in Christ.

We have a problem and it is significant. But the truth is that Satan is not at all a joke.

He is a very real enemy with very real influence over people in this world. And while people like Sam Smith and Kim Petras may not take

There's no question about the fact that our Lord was convinced of the reality of Satan. All throughout his ministry, he spoke regarding Satan.

He went around casting demons out. He went around undoing the deeds that Satan was attempting to do.

However, as Christians, while we should certainly be aware of Satan's evil influence in this world, we should never fear

Satan because we know that Jesus Christ has already won the decisive victory over Satan on the cross. In John 12, 31, now is the judgment of this world.

Now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Our Lord is saying, I am in conflict with Satan.

I'm going to the cross to win the victory. Our Lord knew what he was doing.

He knew that he was in conflict with a real person. Why? Because he had known this being in eternity from the time that he created him.

And he knew him all the way through till he fell. And from then on, he knew him. He knew exactly who he was dealing with.

And there's one person that the devil will never fool. And that's the God that made him.
