00:37: look if you're brand new to this channel and this series, hello there! my name is nate, i'm the president of a christian non -profit organization called wise disciple.
00:45: now some of you are probably thinking to yourself, what arrogance! he's calling himself a wise disciple! well that really comes from jesus in matthew chapter 10 verse 16.

01:26: gives me memories. i actually moved to las vegas from texas and i now i'm hungry for tex -mex.
01:32: now i can't watch the full debate. i never have in any of these videos and the reason is is because these videos would be three to four hours long if that's what i was gonna do.
01:42: instead i zoom in on cross -examination because i always used to tell my students in the classroom when i taught debate that that's where the magic happens.
01:49: we call it clash and it quickly reveals your skills as a debate opponent.
01:56: you either shine very quickly or you suck really badly and it happens in real time. so we're gonna look at cross -examination.
02:02: now before we get into this debate, i gotta tell you i'm i'm upset. i i came to watch a rigorous academic discussion on the topic of whether jesus was raised from the dead and this is what i see in the very beginning of matt dillahunty's opening presentation.
02:20: if you came to a debate expecting mike to say yes jesus rose from the dead and then me to get up and say no he didn't, you're at the wrong debate.
02:30: my issue or my position is not i can confirm that jesus did not rise from the dead, it's that i am in fact unconvinced.
02:37: i'm here to try to give an understanding of how someone goes from 25 plus years as a southern baptist how you get from that to being a non -believer.
02:49: no you're not. you're here to debate a particular topic. this is why the vein there is a vein that comes from my hairline and it and it runs down to and it's about to explode.
03:04: the whole point of debates is for two people on both sides of a particular topic arguing using the best arguments so that the audience benefits from this kind of rigorous academic discussion.
03:17: and this is what we see. i'm not here to debate the topic tonight. well you lost. you just conceded the whole thing.

03:29: he's biased. he's biasing all over the place. look at the bias. let me tell you something. if you flip this around and matt dillahunty had taken a large chunk of his time to research and to write in order to present the best case against a particular topic and then mike lacona gets up and says well you know what tonight i'm just i'm not going to debate the topic.
03:50: if you thought that that's what we were going to do you're at the wrong place. instead i'm just going to tell you how i became a christian.
