00:02
Many years ago one of England's leading actors was asked to recite for the pleasure of his fellow guests.
00:10
He consented and asked if there was anything special that his audience would like to hear. After a moment's pause, an old pastor that was present in the audience got up and said,
00:20
Could you, sir, please recite to us the 23rd Psalm? A strange look passed over the actor's face and he paused for a moment and said,
00:31
I can and I will, upon one condition. And that is that after I have recited it, that you, my friend, pastor, you will have to come up and do the same.
00:46
I, said the pastor in surprise, I am no professional actor or stage speaker.
00:52
However, if you wish it, I will do so. Impressively, the great actor began with the psalm.
00:59
His voice and intonation were obviously perfect. He held his audience spellbound and as he finished, a great burst of applause broke from the guests that were present in the room that day.
01:12
And then as it died away, the old pastor arose and began the psalm himself. His voice was obviously not remarkable compared to the actor.
01:23
His intonation was not faultless. But when he had finished, there was no sound of applause to break the silence.
01:33
But there was, in fact, not a dry eye in the room and many heads were bowed in prayer.
01:40
The actor rose to his feet again. His voice shook as he laid his hand upon the shoulder of the pastor and said to the people that were gathered there that evening, he said,
01:49
I reached your eyes and your ears, my friends, but this pastor reached your hearts.
01:56
The difference is this, and this is the key to this story, so pay attention to this last phrase here.
02:02
The actor, he said, the difference is this. I know the 23rd
02:09
Psalm. This pastor knows the shepherd of the 23rd
02:15
Psalm. So I want to ask you this morning, my friends, do you know the shepherd?
02:22
You can memorize all the verses in Scripture, and I have faithfully studied for well over a decade, so my knowledge of Scripture is better than it was a decade ago, and I can submit to you that if you spend and commit yourself to Scripture, you will know far more
02:37
Scripture a decade from now than you do presently. But you can memorize and study, read all the commentaries you want.
02:44
You can read the Bible cover to cover. You can read it backwards if you want to, although I don't suggest you try that because you'll get very confused.
02:52
I'm not saying I've tried that before, but let's just say it doesn't go very well. But you can do all that.
02:57
You can attend church, have 100 % attendance, teach all the Sunday school classes you want, show up for programs, be on committees, be a deacon, even be a pastor.
03:06
But if you do not know the shepherd, you're lost and dying and going to Hell. And you'll spend eternity there paying for your sins.
03:14
Being a Sunday school teacher won't save you. Being a pastor won't save you. And in case you haven't actually thought about this before,
03:22
I'll help you out. Yes, there are unsaved pastors. I could name names.
03:28
There are unsaved pastors in this world. How in the world?
03:35
Because I know I'm not this graceful and merciful. That God in His grace and mercy would allow such a person to step behind His sacred desk and preach anything other than Jesus Christ is remarkable to me.
03:47
All I know is that they will answer for it one day. But if you don't know the shepherd, if you don't know Jesus Christ, what you've done in your life really won't matter up to much.
03:58
Because we're created in Christ. We are His workmanship to do the good works that He has prepared for us before the foundation of the world.
04:06
So do you know the shepherd? And do you know Him more than just knowing some facts about Him?
04:12
Something you can recite, maybe from vacation Bible school, or neighborhood Bible time, or Awanas when you were growing up.
04:20
Something more than just knowing about Him, or knowing maybe what He did. Knowing His name.
04:25
Do you know who He is? Do you know Him? Well, hopefully we'll find out that together this morning.
04:33
Number one, I want to look at three aspects of this. And number one, I want to notice, and I want to talk about who this shepherd is, and what
04:40
He's done for us, and what He is doing for us. Number one, we notice that our shepherd cares for us.
04:46
Look with me at John chapter 10 and verse 2. It says, But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep.
04:53
To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
05:00
When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
05:06
A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.
05:13
Notice that our shepherd, the great shepherd, the good shepherd, the one that's the door, the one that's the light of the world, the one that's the living bread of life coming down out of heaven, the one that's the resurrection and a life, the one that's the way, the truth, and a life.
05:28
He is eternal life. It is this good shepherd that cares for us. He cares for us because we are
05:34
His sheep. Notice it says, He calls His sheep by name. He knows your name.
05:44
He knows everything about you. It is the shepherd's duty, regardless of how many sheep he has, to know every single sheep by name.
05:54
And it is our great and good shepherd that knows every one of us by name. He knows the very hairs on your head.
06:00
And for some of us, that's easier for Christ to know than others. I hate to think of this, but if you go by the males in my family, that's going to be my future.
06:11
I really hope there's no big light shining on me, or else I don't know if it's going to come from the back or the front first, but one of my two audiences here is going to notice it very quickly.
06:21
But He knows you, and He says when He puts forth all His own, He goes ahead of them. Notice that the shepherd does not drive
06:28
His sheep from behind them. He goes ahead of them. He shows the way. He models that behavior.
06:34
Philippians 2 .5, I believe it is, Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. So the very mind of Christ, the very actions of Christ were to model these things.
06:43
Why? Because He's modeled them. We're following a shepherd. You don't get out ahead of a shepherd.
06:51
You don't dictate to the shepherd. You don't tell the shepherd what to do. The shepherd is the one leading the way.
06:56
And Christ's sheep, He says, follow Him. Notice what else we do with our good shepherd. He says the sheep follow
07:02
Him because they know His voice. We don't follow Jesus Christ simply because He was just the best man among us.
07:08
We don't follow Jesus Christ because He happened to die for us, although that's obviously a big part of it.
07:15
We follow Jesus because of all of who He is. He's the eternal God. He is the one that made atonement for sin.
07:22
He is the one that was buried. He is the one that rose again. He is the one seated at the right hand of the Father.
07:27
He is the one coming back one day to this earth. We follow Jesus because of all of who
07:33
He is, all of what He has done, all of what He is doing, and all of what He is going to do for us on our behalf because we are
07:40
His sheep and we know His voice. A stranger they simply will not follow but will flee from Him because we don't know the voice of strangers.
07:51
We've talked a lot and used this example many times about check fraud. The way you know fake checks is by knowing what the real thing is.
07:58
If you know what a real check is, you'll spot it immediately. Right? Same thing with Jesus Christ.
08:04
If you know what the Word of God is, if you know who the Shepherd is, you'll immediately spot error. You don't have to sit there and watch a bunch of TV shows, read a bunch of books.
08:13
Although it is good for you to study up on things like Catholicism, and Mormonism, and Jehovah Witnesses, and all this crazy social justice gospel, and all this nonsense that's out there.
08:24
It's good to be aware of those things. And if you have the time I would suggest it's good to study up on what's out there.
08:30
But fundamentally what we do, the way we know truth from error is by studying truth. There's all kinds of different error, but if you know what the truth is, you'll immediately spot error.
08:41
That's how Christ's sheep can spot strangers. And that's why we won't follow them, because when they speak or teach we'll know that's not my
08:49
Shepherd. That's not Jesus Christ. That's not the truth of God's Scripture. And so we will flee from them because we don't follow, because we don't know their voice.
08:59
If you remember from last week, when we talked about Jesus being the door, if you want to turn with me to Ezekiel 34, remember from last week in Ezekiel 34 in verse 11 it says,
09:09
For thus says the Lord God, Behold, notice he says, I myself will search for my sheep and seek them out.
09:19
We belong to Christ. We are His children. We are His saints. We're not saints and holy ones in and of ourselves.
09:28
We're saints and the holy ones of God, because in John chapter 1 it says, We are born not by flesh, not by the will of man, but we're born of God.
09:39
Formerly darkness, now light in Christ, Ephesians 5. And so he says, I myself,
09:45
God says, will search for my sheep. And notice with the Shepherd imagery, once again in verse 12 of Ezekiel 34 he says,
09:52
As a Shepherd cares for his herd in the day, when he is among the scattered sheep, so I will care for my sheep, and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day.
10:05
Notice these Shepherds, often times when they would get them out in the field, they would get scattered.
10:11
I mean if you're one man and you're looking after, you know, a hundred sheep, and you're out in a big field, it makes sense that it would be hard to keep them all corralled.
10:20
God bless you, you know, for some of these people to have four and five and six children, and they're all young. We've got a friend back home that's, well actually they're not back home now, they live in Burlington now, don't they?
10:29
Joel and them have like four? Yeah, and then we've got some other group back home that's like five, and they're all young.
10:35
I'm like, we've got one child and two cats, and we're about to pull our hair out. God bless you if you have more than one child.
10:43
I stand in awe of you, because I'm not equipped for that. I'll just be honest with you.
10:48
I don't think Gina or I are equipped for that. And having animals is kind of like having another child.
10:53
We treat them like children. I mean every time we leave the house we're like, we'll be back, knowing they can't speak
10:59
English. Do I have any other animal people in the house, do you not do that? Yes.
11:05
Do we not tell our animals we'll be back, knowing they can't speak English? Yes, they can.
11:12
I know my cat knows what I'm saying. He also knows what I'm saying when I tell him not to get in my chair, but he does that anyway, doesn't he?
11:22
But they'll be scattered. But here's the thing, no matter where they're at, Jesus knows how to get them all back in.
11:27
Remember when we talked about the door last week, He says at night as the sheep would come in, the shepherd would use that rod and inspect those sheep, make sure it's one of His, because you're not getting in if you're not one of His sheep.
11:38
And how do we get in? Repentance and faith. Not by works, lest any man should boast, but by faith in Christ.
11:45
And so He says in verse 13, I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and bring them to their own land.
11:51
A lot of this is prophetic in nature as well. He says, I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams and in all the habitat places of the land.
11:58
I will feed them in a good pasture. He cares for us. Our Shepherd cares for us.
12:04
And when you care for people that are your own, or sheep that are your own, or if you're caring for your children as a father, one of the things you do as you're caring for them is you'll feed them.
12:13
No good father, no good shepherd would ever leave his sheep or his children or anybody that's under your care unfed.
12:20
God bless you, you live at my house, one thing that's guaranteed is you're going to eat. You may not do much else, but bless
12:26
God you're going to eat. And I know it's not always Bojangles, Mr.
12:32
Link. It may be Bojangles 75 % of the time, but it's not always
12:38
Bojangles. But it's pizza, Papa John's, oh man. Lord, I better quit
12:44
Rob, I'm going to be hungry now. We need to move on. Verse 15, I will feed my flock and I will lead them to rest.
12:51
Remember Hebrews 4? The greatest rest that we can have is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, our shepherd that cares for us, says,
12:58
I will not only feed you, I will lead you to rest. Every other religion in the world, the one distinguishing thing between Christianity that is foundational in Jesus Christ and every man -made religion in the world is that there is no rest in any man -made religion.
13:13
There never is. You never know if you've done enough. And even if you get to a point where, yeah, man,
13:18
I've done good, there's always something else. It's never going to be enough.
13:24
Which is why we're not saved by our good works, we're saved for good works. Any good works that we do, we do it because we love our
13:31
Savior, we love our shepherd, and we want to show Him how thankful we are. And we'll see that in point three in a minute.
13:39
Moving back to John chapter 10, notice what else the shepherd does because he cares for us.
13:44
John chapter 10 and verse 11. Jesus says, I am the good shepherd. Distinguishing and in a way, sanctifying or setting himself apart from every false shepherd.
13:57
He's saying, I'm unlike all these false shepherds, I'm unlike all these false teachers because I'm the good teacher.
14:04
I'm the good shepherd. Why? The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
14:10
See, a shepherd, those sheep are under your care. You had to be willing to do up to and including anything to keep them safe.
14:19
Remember David, when he stands before Goliath, what did he tell him? He said, I've saved sheep from bear, and lion, and all this.
14:29
He's like, you're just a man. You're just a man. God has redeemed and saved me, and when
14:38
I've protected sheep from these animals, what makes you think you're going to be different? Basically what he's saying. Not because David was anything in and of himself, but because of the
14:45
God he served. Because of the ultimate shepherd that cared for David. And the ultimate shepherd, even if it had gone south, and he hadn't been able to rescue the sheep from the mammals, if David had to have paid the ultimate sacrifice and laid down his life, he would have done it, because that's what shepherds do.
15:04
That's why our shepherd, Jesus Christ, has done for us. He laid down His life for the sheep.
15:11
Now we're going to look at some really cool stuff here. I love it when we see the consistency and harmony of inspired and errant
15:17
Scripture. We're going to look at two passages covering the same thing about Jesus. First, go with me to 1
15:23
Peter 2. 1 Peter 2, and we're going to look at a couple of verses here. I want you to understand the depth of how
15:31
Jesus in fact laid down His life for us. Because it isn't just in the laying down of the life and the dying, but it's in the shed blood and what it was
15:40
He was doing and how He satisfied the wrath of God for sin. Notice in 1 Peter 2, in verse 21 it says,
15:48
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, the shepherding example, going ahead of us from John 10.
16:02
Notice the harmony. Leaving you an example for you to what? Follow in His steps.
16:11
Our chief shepherd, the good shepherd, He's not behind us, driving us. He has showed us the way.
16:17
And we simply have to walk or follow in the footprints and the steps laid out in front of us.
16:25
We don't have to figure it out. We don't have to have some special knowledge. We simply have to be obedient.
16:33
We talked about this in Sunday school this morning. I was in there with Zach and Will and the youth and that was really cool, man.
16:39
Those guys, they had some really good discussion going with me. We talked about that. We said, what do you do when you're desperate?
16:47
We were talking about Hannah and how she prayed for her son and she was desperate and she had unrest. And I talked about how when you're in these situations of unrest and desperation, whether it's a medical need or a financial need, it seems like that's all you can think about.
17:01
And time moves so slowly, doesn't it?
17:08
Time flies when you're having fun, but it moves so slowly when you're waiting on something, some prayer to be answered, and say, what do you do in those moments?
17:18
Be obedient. It's all God expects of you. He didn't expect you to solve it.
17:24
He didn't expect you to fix it. Oh, by the way, I'm preaching to myself right now, just in case you were wondering.
17:29
He didn't expect you to fix everything. He expects you to be obedient. Follow Me.
17:35
Walk in My footsteps, from 1 Peter 2. Notice again, verse 24, He Himself, Jesus Christ, bore our sins.
17:45
Bore meaning to carry up or offer up as a sacrifice to God. So, Jesus Christ in a very literal and real way bore all of our sins, took them on Himself, turned to God the
17:59
Father and offered them up, offered up His body, offered up Himself, bearing our sins with Him as a sacrifice to God.
18:08
Which is why 1 John talks about Him being the propitiation for our sins, a word meaning He is the satisfaction for our sins.
18:15
He's the atoning sacrifice, the only sacrifice that can pay for the sins of all the believing ones, all those that have repented, all those that have placed faith in Jesus Christ.
18:26
He's the only acceptable sacrifice, which is why He's the only shepherd. Notice He says, bore our sins in His body on the cross so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
18:40
And see if this sounds familiar to you. We're going to go to the other place we find this in a minute. For by His wounds you were healed.
18:50
Wounds! A word meaning a bruise or stripe is very common in a lot of English translations.
18:57
They'll say by stripes you were healed. Meaning a stripe that was left on the body by scourging.
19:04
You remember what happened to Christ before He ever got on the cross? Here's a fun thing for you.
19:09
Go home sometime and don't misunderstand. I'm not saying ignore the cross.
19:15
But ignore it in this sense. Before you ever get to that, think about what Christ went through for us before He ever was nailed on it.
19:24
He was scourged. Inspired scriptures telling you every one of those marks that that scourging left, you're healed by that.
19:33
You're healed by it. Now, if that wasn't familiar, it should be here right now because now we're going to go to the
19:40
Old Testament. Isaiah 53. We're going to cover just three short verses here in Isaiah 53 and then we're going to move on to our second point.
19:49
But I want you to notice how the New Testament writers, how they viewed Old Testament scripture because he's quoting it and using it.
19:55
Because in Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 4 is talking about the suffering servant, the coming
20:02
Messiah, Jesus Christ. And it says, "'Surely our griefs
20:07
He Himself bore, carried among Himself, offered up as a sacrifice.
20:15
I am the good shepherd because I lay down my life for my sheep. Jesus Christ our shepherd cares for us, and our griefs are sins
20:24
He Himself bore. Our sorrows He carried.'"
20:31
Verse 5, "'He was pierced through for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities.
20:41
Jesus Christ never sinned, and it wasn't just that He didn't sin, He was incapable of sin because He was the eternal
20:49
God, the eternal Creator encased in human flesh. And He had to carry,
20:56
He had to bear, He had to pay for and make sacrifice in His own body for sins that He never committed.'"
21:06
Let that filter through your mind and heart. So in a very real way
21:12
I can very confidently tell you that my sins put my Savior and my shepherd on the cross.
21:20
And if I was the only sheep that Jesus Christ were to ever have, this verse would still be there.
21:30
It would still be true. Because Jesus Christ lays down His life for the sheep.
21:36
If you'll notice back in John 10 it didn't say how many sheep He has. We don't know who the elect are.
21:41
We don't know who the ones who will place faith in Jesus Christ are. It's an innumerable amount of people to be sure, but it's not universal salvation.
21:49
It's not everybody. He could have saved all. He could have saved none. He could have saved some. Scripture tells us, life experience tells us, it's some.
21:57
I've met people that flat out reject Christ and die in their sin. They won't be saved.
22:05
But however many sheep there are, it's always true that Jesus Christ laid down His life for the sheep.
22:12
And what is true, that however many, a number of sheep there are, Jesus Christ's death,
22:19
He died and it is provision to save all of them. There's not one sheep, not one person that will ever repent and place faith and trust in Jesus Christ that won't be saved.
22:31
Every single person that has faith in Christ will be saved. Why? He laid down His life for all the sheep.
22:37
For everybody that will place faith in Jesus Christ. That's why it says He was pierced through for their transgressions.
22:44
So why? Notice it says, the chastening for our well being fell upon Him.
22:53
And by His scourging, His stripes, His wounds, we are healed.
23:03
Healed from what? All of us like sheep have gone astray. Each of us has turned to our own, or His own way.
23:12
But the Lord, not Andy, not man, not anybody, the
23:18
Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. And we are healed from our sins in Jesus Christ, our shepherd.
23:27
Number two, or number one rather, we notice that our shepherd cares for us. And number two, our shepherd protects us.
23:33
Going back to John chapter 10, two quick things that our shepherd protects us from, and then
23:38
I want to focus on point three in earnest. Number one, our shepherd protects us from predators.
23:44
Notice John 10 verse 11. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
23:50
He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
24:02
He, meaning the one that is not the shepherd, he flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep.
24:12
I am the good shepherd, and I know my own, and my own love me. Notice the point
24:17
He draws here. He says, I'm the good shepherd. I lay my life down for the sheep. They hear my voice.
24:24
They follow me. The hired hand, the one that is not the shepherd, the one that doesn't own the sheep, they won't follow
24:31
Him. You need to beware of them. Why? He says because that person, when they see the wolf coming, or see danger coming, or see something coming that could harm the sheep, they're going to flee.
24:43
They're going to run and get out of dodge. Why? They don't care about the sheep. They may put off like they do, but they don't.
24:51
My friends, we will never, never, never, never, never, never, not for one twinkling of an eye, not for one second in your life.
25:04
I don't care what circumstances you face. I don't care what hardships you go through. As a
25:09
Christian and a child of God, there's never one time in your life where you'll ever have to wonder, am
25:16
I following the true shepherd? Does He care for me, and will He protect me?
25:24
Notice, this is key, whether it's the shepherd or the one that's not a shepherd, does it say that the wolf could be prevented from coming?
25:34
No, it doesn't. It says when He sees the wolf coming, He flees. Even our shepherd, the good shepherd, doesn't promise to prevent the wolf from coming.
25:45
He promises to stand by us and be there with us regardless of what comes.
25:52
Trial, temptation, hardship, whatever it is, Jesus Christ, our shepherd, never flees us.
26:01
I will never forsake you or leave you. He will be there for you and with you every second of your life.
26:10
And I can tell you that with confidence because I've seen it in my own life. Through some of the hardest times in my life when you have nowhere else to go, nowhere else to turn, it's just you in a prayer closet somewhere, that's when the presence of the
26:26
Holy Spirit becomes the most real to you because you have nowhere else to look but to Him.
26:33
He'll also protect you from your own sin. 2 Thessalonians 3 .3 says, but the
26:38
Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 1 Peter 5 .8 says,
26:44
Be of pure spirit, be on the alert. Present tense verb, always on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
26:55
Psalm 19 verses 7 -14 it says, The law of the
27:00
Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
27:06
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
27:12
All this referring to the Word of God. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever.
27:18
The judgments of the Lord are true, they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold.
27:26
Sweeter also than honey are the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover by them your servant is warned.
27:33
Notice that our shepherd in the Word of God will warn us about sin. In keeping them there is great reward.
27:39
Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. Also keep back your servant from presumptuous sins.
27:48
And then notice this key part of Psalm 19 here in verse 13. Let them and the them here is those sins.
27:58
Let them not rule over me.
28:03
Then I will be blameless and be acquitted of great transgression. He says, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,
28:12
O Lord my rock and my Redeemer. If you don't want sin to rule in your heart, if you don't want sin to rule in your life, you need to trust your shepherd.
28:26
You need to follow your shepherd. You need to trust Jesus Christ. You need to follow Jesus Christ because it is
28:32
Jesus Christ who protects us not only from predators, but from our own sin. And the way you can have a life that is not ruled by sin is when
28:41
God's Word rules in your hearts. If the truth of Scripture, the truth of God's Word, the truth of Christ does not rule in your heart and is the focus of your life, sin will continue to dominate you.
28:55
You need to be sanctified from that sin, and you're sanctified in Christ through the Word of God. It is
29:01
God's Word that is pure, enduring forever, that is perfect, and they are glorious, they are right altogether, they make wise the simple, they rejoice the heart, they restore the soul.
29:12
And sin can't rule over you because your shepherd will protect you from sin by knowing His Word. Remember in John chapter 10, my sheep know my voice, they listen to me, and we hear
29:22
Him fully and clearly in His Word. Lastly this morning, our shepherd is worthy of our worship.
29:37
He not only cares for us, He not only loves us, He not only protects us, but He's worthy of our worship.
29:43
Our last spot this morning, if you want to turn there, is Psalm chapter 95. Excuse me, there's no chapters in this.
29:50
Psalm 95. I broke my own rule there. I keep saying I can't stand it when I say Psalms, or Psalm chapter, and I went and did it myself, so I'm just as guilty.
30:00
Psalm 95. Psalm 95, our shepherd because of who
30:06
He is, Jesus Christ, because He laid down His life for us and everything He's done for us is worthy of our worship.
30:12
Notice it says in verse 1, O come. And then notice in the first two verses it's four different times it says,
30:21
Let us, let us, let us, let us. Let us sing for joy to the
30:27
Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving.
30:36
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. Why? For the
30:42
Lord is a great God, and the great King above all gods. Not that there are other gods, but using language they would have understood.
30:50
He says, In whose hand are the depths of the earth? The peaks of the mountains are His also. The sea is
30:56
His, for it was He who made it. And His hands formed the dry land.
31:05
Notice it says, Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the
31:11
Lord, our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
31:22
Our shepherd is worthy of worship because our shepherd is the eternal
31:28
God. He is our Maker. He is our salvation.
31:34
We are to worship Him. Notice it says, Let us, His people, do these things in response to what
31:45
He has done for us. Do you know the shepherd? Are you walking with Him?
31:57
Are you following Him? Do you love your shepherd?
32:04
I love my shepherd. I love Jesus Christ. I love the Trinity. I love everything about God.
32:12
As much as I can in my life, I try to love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength.
32:18
I pray that you do as well. Because we only have one shepherd. Never make the mistake, while it is clear in Scripture that pastors are under shepherds and overseers over Christ's church, never make the mistake of thinking that a pastor is the shepherd.
32:36
No man walking this planet has the right to be called the good shepherd or the chief shepherd.
32:44
There's only one and His name is Jesus Christ. And He's a good shepherd.
32:50
And we should love Him and follow Him and walk with Him. Because there's no greater blessing in this life than to walk with our shepherd,
32:59
Jesus Christ. Our shepherd, Jesus Christ loves and cares for you. He protects you. He's worthy of your worship because of who
33:07
He is and what He has done for you. Jesus Christ is the good shepherd.
