Human Chimp DNA Similarity--Is it really 98%? (Classroom Series)

You may have heard that human and chimp DNA are 98 % similar. Well, that's not quite accurate.

First, the chimp genome is about 4 % larger than the human. Second, they only compared similar sections from each genome when they came up with a 98 % similarity figure, also excluding 25 % of the human

DNA and 18 % of the chimp DNA. Well, how similar were the two genomes when they were compared side by side?

Between 66 % and 84 % at most. Okay. I know evolutionists needed that 98 % to be able to support the idea that humans branched off about 6 million years ago.

So, if it's only actually 84%, wouldn't that be too many genetic changes for the evolutionary timeline?
