Q&A: What is the Great Commission?

So the Great Commission, we know from Matthew 28, is to go into all the world and preach the gospel and baptize.

It's interesting. Baptism is not just getting people wet. It's a covenant act. It's bringing people visibly under the authority of Jesus Christ and, often, what is forgotten, the third point, teaching them to observe all things that are commanded.

So that involves something a lot bigger than many churches believe.

So the gospel is not just sharing the Romans road or the Philemon Freeway or the Titus Turnpike or whatever it may be, and just hoping you can get a few more people into heaven.

The gospel really is God's comprehensive message to influence the entire world, the entire ethnos.

That's what it means when it says nations there. It's not just grabbing one person here and there. I'm thankful for every person that's saved.
