Hey guys, Colin here, and welcome back to the channel where we bring you Christian commentary about the things that matter.
00:05
As ever, please know this video isn't a sinful attack, but rather a Biblical critique. In today's video, we're going to be talking about a
00:12
TikTok clip from an anti -Christian content creator called, quote, Swearing Pastor Paul.
00:19
In this clip, he's responding to the recent Supreme Court overruling of Roe v. Wade. I know we've made a lot of videos on this topic lately, but we do that because it's very important.
00:29
There are so many people who are using this event, this ruling, as an opportunity to discourage
00:34
Christians and attempt to confuse them theologically and politically. And they do this kind of thing because if they can get you confused about your values, then you won't be able to consistently vote according to your values.
00:47
And if you don't vote according to your values, well, then you might vote according to theirs. Let's take a look at this clip of Pastor Paul, or so -called
00:55
Pastor Paul, on TikTok as he slams Christians for their response to this ruling. Watch this.
01:01
To be a staunch anti -abortionist, you have to be so cognitively dissonant to your belief system.
01:08
You have to believe that Jesus once said, here's a religious concept, let's go take power in the government by any means necessary and impose this on the culture.
01:19
Extreme anti -abortionism is a cognitively dissonant belief that is simply not supported by biblical text.
01:30
And today, the gospel has proven to have been perverted for political manipulation and religious indoctrination and imposition of that religion onto others as a purpose.
01:47
And I grieve that my people have become capable of something so horrible and evil.
01:55
So here is effectively the argument being made. The idea is that Christians who oppose the killing of babies in the womb,
02:02
Christians who want to protect those children with laws at the federal level, are perverting the gospel of Jesus, according to this swearing
02:10
Pastor Paul. How is this happening? Well, according to him, Christians are politically imposing their religious values on everyone else in society when they make laws like this.
02:20
They're telling everyone else, regardless of their religion, you have to act like a Christian. And in his view, this is something that is, quote, horrible and evil.
02:29
And this is a very common argument used by progressive Christians and really just about any anti -Christian in general these days.
02:36
The gospel is supposed to spread through the changing of people's hearts, they say, not through making laws based in Christian values.
02:43
So we shouldn't be doing this. It's not Old Testament times. What are you trying to do, set up a Christian theocracy?
02:49
How dare you? And there are so many problems with this kind of view, this kind of phrasing, it's hard to know where to begin.
02:55
So let's analyze the main ideas here biblically. Just know that when I quote Paul, I'm going to use the word baby killing instead of that word which starts with an
03:04
A. I do this both for moral consistency and for the sake of the YouTube algorithm. He starts out by saying this, quote, to be a staunch anti -baby killing person, you have to believe that Jesus once said, let's go take power in the government by any means necessary and impose this on the culture, end quote.
03:24
First off, he slips in the phrase by any means necessary, which is of course not the position of virtually any reputable pro -life
03:32
Christian leader at all. I don't know of any Christian leader that thinks we should literally have an illegal coup against our government and that Jesus advocated for this.
03:42
This is clearly a straw man of the pro -life position. It's not an accurate representation at all.
03:47
But moving forward, he suggests that inherent in the pro -life position is the idea that we must impose
03:53
Christianity on everyone in our society. We must force everyone to act like a
03:59
Christian whether they like it or not. And that's what you're doing, I guess, when you make laws protecting unborn babies.
04:04
That's effectively what he's saying. But this is absolutely untrue. We are imposing, in a sense, a
04:10
Christian value system on people, but we are not imposing Christianity in its entirety on anyone.
04:16
Let me explain what I mean. We have laws against stealing in our country. At least for now.
04:22
Why? Well, because stealing is wrong and we shouldn't allow it. But how do we know it's wrong and that we shouldn't allow it?
04:28
Well, quite simply, stealing is wrong because it violates God's unchanging moral law. That was the predominant view of Americans for decades, if not centuries, in this country.
04:39
Exodus 20, verse 15 says, quote, You shall not steal. It's very simple. The law of God had penalties for stealing, and because our laws are firmly rooted in the unchanging biblical values, we have penalties for stealing as well.
04:52
Now, does anyone ever complain that we're imposing Christianity on others because no one's allowed to steal their neighbor's television, for instance?
05:00
When we arrest someone for stealing a car and we put them in jail, are we imposing and forcing
05:06
Christianity on them? No. Any moral system of law, and we all know this, dictates that you cannot steal and that stealing ought to be legally punishable.
05:16
All laws must be rooted in a value system. That's what a law is. Do this, don't do that.
05:21
It's a statement of value. And the value system in this country has historically been the
05:26
Christian Bible. There is no better value system than the one that God gave us, and we shouldn't apologize for that as Christians.
05:33
Now here's a question. When we punish thieves for stealing, do we force them to pray a prayer of salvation?
05:39
No. Do we force them to read Scripture? No. Do we force them to take communion?
05:45
No. Do we force them to get baptized? No. But remember, all of those things are required of Christians.
05:52
So if we're forcing these people through prohibiting these behaviors for them to be Christians, if we're imposing our religion on them wholesale, then why are they exempt from these things?
06:02
Well, quite simply, because we have Biblical theology. The Bible does not require us to make any laws forcing
06:08
Christianity on others. But we are required to vote for and make laws that accord with God's standard of conduct for society.
06:17
I would humbly ask this TikToker Paul if he believes it should be illegal for me to steal everything out of his house.
06:23
Surely, he will respond by saying it should be illegal. He doesn't want that to happen. But that would be inconsistent, because he's forcing his religion on me.
06:32
And that's not fair. So you see, internally, his position refutes itself. He doesn't even believe what he's saying.
06:38
So next time someone accuses you of forcing your morality on everyone else through laws against the killing of the unborn, go ahead and ask them,
06:47
Should it be illegal for me to murder you? And if they believe it should be illegal, as most people do, then humbly and kindly ask them to stop forcing their values on everyone else.
06:57
If someone wants to murder them, that's their right. They should be allowed to do that. Who are you to tell them they can't?
07:03
Again, just illustrate that the position is absolutely logically and morally bankrupt.
07:09
It simply doesn't work. So let's go ahead and watch the last part of that clip again, because it's very, very revealing.
07:15
Watch this. As a purpose, and I grieve that my people have become capable of something so horrible and evil.
07:27
So he ends off saying, quote, I grieve that my people have become capable of something so horrible and evil, end quote.
07:34
Notice these last words, horrible and evil. These sound like religious values to me.
07:39
So here's a question. Why is Paul forcing his religious values on us? In his value structure, making anti -baby killing laws is bad, but we don't agree with that.
07:50
So why is he forcing us to accept his religion? That's just not fair. He's calling out
07:55
Christians for, quote, imposing their religion on others. Well, by what standard is it bad to impose your religion on everyone else?
08:03
Why is he imposing his anti -imposition on us? All of this nonsense points us to our need for an objective, singular moral standard.
08:12
The problem is that many people, even real, genuine Christians, somehow think it's wrong to vote for laws that are rooted in Christian values.
08:21
But behind all of this is religious pluralism. It's effectively the idea that somehow we can make laws that are in accordance with all of the religions, all of the value structures in our society, even if they're all at odds with each other, because every religion is equally valid.
08:37
And of course, this always results in Christians abandoning their values in favor of others.
08:42
This can work temporarily, but it will not work long term. Here's a practical example.
08:48
According to a thief's value system, he can break into my house and steal all of my stuff for his own financial gain.
08:55
According to my values, this should be illegal, and he should be stopped. So whose religious values should win the day?
09:01
His value says stealing is okay. My value says it must be stopped immediately. So whose values will be forced on who?
09:09
If someone has values that make them want to murder me, and my values say that murder is wrong, whose values should win?
09:17
Exodus 20 verse 13 says, quote, You shall not murder. Are we forcing people to be
09:22
Christians if we make a law against murder? This is the issue. Obviously, most people are totally in favor of imposing their personal values on thieves and murderers because they want to throw them in jail.
09:34
So here's the ultimate question. By what objective standard, for what reason, do you get to do this?
09:40
What makes you so high and mighty that you get to decide how everyone else gets to act? You see, it's not a matter of whether we will impose values, but which values we will impose.
09:51
People like Paul here on TikTok want you to stop forcing others to follow your values.
09:56
But he only wants you to do this so that he can force his values on you. Watch out for the religious pluralism scam.
10:04
It's being used to fool Christians all over the world. If you're a Christian, follow 1
10:09
Corinthians 10 31, which says, quote, So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God, end quote.
10:17
If this is true, then we must also vote politically to the glory of God as well, rather than vote to please the secular culture.
10:24
Once we understand this, we can band together as Christians and honor God as Lord, not just of us, but Lord of the entire world.
10:32
I pray that this has been a blessing to you. And please know this. I do not offer any of this correction from a high and mighty position.
10:39
I am nothing but a wretched sinner saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. So let's pray for Paul, that he would stop this falsehood by God's grace and turn to the truth of God's Word.
