This is the channel that compares what people are saying in the name of God to the Word of God. All right, have you guys heard of Troy Brewer?

Never heard of Troy Brewer. Well, this is one of those episodes where we're going to take on somebody that I've never heard of before, and kind of walk you through how

I identify whether or not somebody is a true teacher or a false teacher.

And the thing is is that so many people do not apply biblical tests when it comes to people that it's just amazing to me that they can say that they believe the

Bible when they don't listen to what the Bible says. I pointed this out recently that there's only one book of the

New Testament, one, that doesn't warn us about false teachers, and that's

Philemon. Every other book of the New Testament, every single book in the New Testament after that does.

So we'd be wise to pay attention to these things and not be so gullible as the body of Christ, and that's part of it.

But the other part of it is is the reason why so many false teachers are really just taking off and doing so well is because the time has arrived when people don't endure sound doctrine.

And so my question for you is, those of you who would maybe say, how dare you say that Troy Brewer is a false teacher?

My question to you is, do you enjoy sound doctrine or do you not tolerate it?

Because if you tolerated sound doctrine, you wouldn't be listening to guys like Troy Brewer.

And you're saying, well, you haven't even shown us what he's going to say yet, Chris. Yeah, I know, I know. We'll get to that.

All right, so let's kind of whirl up the desktop and dive into our episode here. By the way, this is a photograph that I've taken and heavily retouched.

All right, so I was doing research, just doing my normal, let's go and find heresy kind of day, which is kind of my life.

I don't know if you've noticed this about me, but I have a tendency to slog through more heresy than most.

It helps. Anyway, so there I was, I was just scrolling through YouTube on my phone, and I saw this come up, and I brought it up in my browser.

All the red flags are going off. Because I think of like the Apostle Paul, when he actually legitimately had a vision of heaven, and so did the

Apostle John. They're the only two guys in all of Scripture that really kind of had that kind of thing happen.

You can make some argument that Isaiah may have had a vision like that, but it's probably grounded in his work in the

Temple. But all of that being said, we only legitimately know of two guys, and Paul says the things he saw are not legal, and maybe not...

they can't be spoken by man. So he was even forbidden to say what he saw.

So already it's like knowing my Bible. And I'll show you the text on that, by the way. Let's... let me do this.

I didn't plan on showing you that text, but let's go there. All right. We are going to go to 2

Corinthians chapter 12. And the context of this is

Paul engaging in some absurdity, foolishness, if you would, for the purpose of shaming the

Church of Corinth, who were foolish enough to listen to the so -called super -apostles, all right?

And they boast about their spirituality and all this kind of stuff. So Paul is boasting, and he's doing so in order to make a point.

He's being foolish in order to show how foolish it is for them to listen to the super -apostles. So Paul says this in 2

Corinthians 12, if I must go on boasting, though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the

Lord. I know a man in Christ who 14 years ago was caught up to the third heaven. So Paul was.

He was legitimately caught up to third heaven. And at the moment, at this point in the epistle, he's writing about himself in third person, but that's going to quickly come off.

So whether in the body or out of the body, I don't know. God knows. So he doesn't even know how to make sense of what it is that he experienced.

I know that this man was caught up into paradise, whether in the body or out of the body, I don't know. God knows.

And he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter."

Uh -huh. You see, the things that man may not utter, it's like mankind, humanity may not utter.

And so he wasn't even permitted to describe what he saw.

So if Paul can't talk about it, you look at somebody like Kat Kerr, who

I think she's renting a flat up in the New Jerusalem, or the heavenly Jerusalem, and she travels there all the time, despite COVID restrictions.

You see, people like that who go on and on and on and on and on about their so -called heavenly visions and stuff like that, already, you know, if you know your

Bible, you sit there and go, this person's not a sound teacher. He's somebody who's false. In fact, let me back up in the context.

In 2 Corinthians 11, I want you to hear what Paul says against the so -called super apostles, who, these super apostles came in after Paul had left, and basically totally slandered the guy.

You know, they say, well, you know that apostle Paul, he isn't much of a speaker. Apparently Paul wasn't good at public speaking.

And if Church tradition and Church history is to be believed, he was pretty hard to look at too.

He kind of had beady eyes and a hooked nose, and it wasn't all that great.

In fact, I always like to point out the apostle Paul is the only guy I know who killed somebody by preaching.

You know, there's some poor fellow who was listening, so Paul was waxing eloquent, droning on and on in a particular sermon, and there was a kid listening to him preaching in a window, and he fell asleep and fell out of the window in,

I think, three -story fall, and it killed him. So I mean, I've never killed anyone with my sermons yet, but these super apostles – super apostles, you have to put that in air quotes – they would say, well, the apostle

Paul, you know, he doesn't charge money because no one would pay him for what he says. But the super apostles, they were skilled in rhetoric, they charged top dollar, and they even abused people, you know, like slapping him in the face and stuff like that.

Paul didn't do any of that. So he's trying to – Paul, in this portion of 2

Corinthians, is trying to wake up the Church of Corinth to the fact that these super apostles are actually agents of the devil.

And so, in order to do that, he's kind of treading lightly and deciding to engage in some foolishness for the purpose of getting them to go, oh, that's really what he's up to.

So here's what he says. He says, I wish you would bear with me a little foolishness. Do bear with me. For I feel a divine jealousy for you since I betrothed you to one husband, that's

Christ, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I'm afraid that as the serpent deceived

Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you received a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

And Paul here isn't commending them, he's condemning them. He's like, a different Jesus, different spirit, different gospel?

Those can't save you, okay? A different Jesus is idolatry, a different spirit, idolatry, different gospel can't save you altogether.

In fact, Paul in Galatians 1 says, even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel to you other than the one already preached, let him be anathema, let him be damned.

Yeah, that's kind of how strong that is. All right, so if someone comes to you and preaches these things, you accept a different gospel, you put up with it readily enough.

And he goes on and says, indeed, I consider that I am not in the least inferior to these super apostles, even if I am unskilled in speaking,

I'm not so in knowledge. Indeed, in every way we have made this plain to you in all things.

Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted because I preach

God's gospel to you free of charge? See, Paul didn't charge them for the gospel. Paul paid his own way, and other churches supported his missionary work.

And so the super apostles came in and said, yeah, well, the reason why he didn't charge anything is because he can't get anything, because he's so unskilled in his speaking.

It's total slander. I mean, this is a breaking of the commandment, thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor, right?

So Paul says, I robbed other churches by accepting support from them in order to serve you.

And when I was with you and was in need, I did not burden anyone. For the brothers who came from Macedonia, they supplied my need.

So I refrained, and I will refrain from burdening you in any way, as the truth of Christ is in me.

This boasting of mine will not be silenced in the regions of Achaia. And why? Because I don't love you?

God knows that I love you. So what I'm doing, I will continue to do in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim in their boasted mission that they work on the same terms as we do.

For such men, and now he just takes the veil off, rips it right off. Such men, they are false apostles.

They're deceitful workmen. They are disguising themselves as apostles of Christ, and no wonder.

Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it's no surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness.

Their end will correspond to their deeds. Now I'm going to note here, in Paul's day, agents of the devil worked hard on their disguises.

They disguised themselves as servants of righteousness. In the days we live in, the agents of the devil, they don't even wear a disguise.

And the church is sitting there going, they're teaching me the words of God. No, they're not.

Okay, they're just, they're not. It's just, it's weird. So I, sorry,

I digressed already, but you know, I want to get this in. So I already, I have like zero confidence that this guy is going to tell me anything regarding Christ.

Now here's kind of another test, all right? So over and again, I will note this, that scripture is sufficient.

And so in scripture, we are warned about people who deviate or go beyond the written word.

Okay? So one of the tests I always listen to, is the doctrine that I'm being taught, or is the message

I'm hearing from this person who claims they're hearing from God, is it going beyond the scriptures?

12:48

And what I mean by that is, is that if I can't find a prophet of the Old Testament, one of the writers of the

Old Testament, or one of the apostles who wrote the New Testament, believing, teaching, and confessing the things that are being taught, then

I know that the person who is speaking these things has gone beyond scripture. And this is where 2 John comes into play.

2 John is a short little epistle, one chapter long, and here's what the apostle

13:15

John writes. To the elder, to the elect lady. So he's writing a letter to a woman who has a church meeting in her home.

You've got to remember, at this time, there were no church properties. Being a

Christian was illegal. And so Christians met secretly in homes and in other places.

13:34

And so he's writing a letter to a woman there who's having a church meeting in her home, and she's the elect lady.

13:41

And to her children, whom I love in the truth, and not only I, but also all who know the truth, because the truth that abides in us and will be with us forever.

So, okay, note here, whom I love in the truth. Christianity. What does Jesus say? Those who worship me will worship me in spirit and in what?

Truth. Who is the author of lies? The devil. So he's the father of lies.

When the devil speaks his, when he speaks lies, he's speaking his own native language, right?

So when somebody who claims to be an agent of Jesus is speaking lies, and they're not teaching the truth, who are they really working for?

Answer, the devil. So you'll note, for Christians, truth is vital, all right? But who also knows the truth because of the truth that abides in us and will be in us, will be with us forever.

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the

14:40

Father's Son, in truth and in love. And then he goes on. He says, I rejoice greatly to find some of your children, these are the people who are meeting in their church, walking in what?

The truth. Walking in the truth. Just as we were commanded by the

14:55

Father, and now I ask you, dear lady, not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one that we have from the beginning, that we love one another.

And this is love, that we walk according to God's commandments. That's who the his is right here.

And this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. For many deceivers have gone out into the world.

And note here, the Apostle John says, not some, a little sprinkling of them, many.

Many deceivers. And it's true in our day as well. Many deceivers have gone out in the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh.

These are the Gnostics in his times. Such one is a deceiver and is the

Antichrist. All right? So you know, there are little Antichrists leading to the big one, the big man of lawlessness.

15:45

So what does John say? Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but you may win a full reward.

Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have

16:00

God. So when people go beyond Scripture, and the things that they're teaching are nowhere found in Scripture, you know that this is an agent of darkness.

Everyone who goes on ahead and doesn't abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God. John doesn't say, oh, they're just deceived brothers.

No, they don't have God at all, all right? Because what is the, you know, we talk about today's prophets.

What does the angel of Revelation 19 say the spirit of prophecy is? The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.

The Old Testament prophets wrote about Christ in his coming, and the apostles wrote about Christ having accomplished what he did when he came, all right?

And tell us of his coming again in glory to judge the living and the dead. The prophets are obsessed with Jesus.

The apostles are obsessed with Jesus. And today's so -called prophets and teachers and signs and wonders folks, who are they obsessed with?

Not Jesus. They're obsessed with themselves and signs and wonders. But anyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have

God. That's not Roseboro's opinion. That's what John said, all right? But whoever abides in the teaching, and what does it mean to abide in the teaching?

Where the only place I can go to hear the teachings of Christ and his commandments is the written word of God.

That's the only place I can go. So to abide in the teaching is to apply myself to the written word.

So whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching to you, but they're bringing something different, all right, don't receive them into your house.

By house here we're talking about the church. Don't receive them into the church or give them any greeting.

Whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works, all right? So there's the warning from the

Apostle John. And just for good measure, let's throw in a little Peter too, shall we? You'll note that the entire epistle of 2

Peter and Jude, the entire epistle of 2 Peter and Jude are warning us about what?

False teachers. So here's Peter's spin on this. And in 2

18:18

Peter 2 .1 it says this, But false prophets also rose among the people, talking about the children of Israel of the Old Testament.

And then watch what he prophesies. Just as there will be what? False teachers among you. All right?

So he's not prophesying at this point specifically something limited to false prophets.

He's expanded it to even the non -prophetic. That just as there were false prophets who rose up among the people of Israel, there will be in the

Church false teachers, all right? That false teacher will include false prophets and false apostles, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be a prophet or apostle or claim to be, right?

Just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the master who bought them and bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

And many will follow their sensuality. Not some. Many. And so here's the thing.

This is what's happening right now. Just look across the visible Church and you sit there and go, what is going on?

So many people are following these people. Answer. This is exactly what

Peter prophesied. So my question for you is, are you abiding in the scriptures and the writings and the commandments of Christ?

Or are you following false teachers who are teaching you to follow your senses, right?

And because of them, the way of truth will be blasphemed. Kenneth Copeland, COVID -19, right?

Yeah. Uh -huh. Yeah. Even atheists. Or all those Trump failed Trump prophecies. Right. You get what I'm saying here.

So in their greed, they will exploit you with false words. Oh, wait. False teachers in their greed will exploit you with false words.

How much do you want to bet that if I take a look at the resources available regarding Troy Brewer from the

Sid Roth Supernatural Network, that they're selling merch. Selling merch, you know, regarding these false teachings, right?

They will, in their greed, they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle.

Their destruction is not asleep. So what does Peter think about them? They go into hell. That's what Peter said.

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment, he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved

Noah, who was a herald, a preacher of righteousness with seven others when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly.

If by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes, he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what's going to happen to the ungodly.

And if he rescued righteous lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked, for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard.

Well, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.

And especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.

They are bold and willful. This is Peter's prophecy regarding the false teachers, the ones that are present now.

They are bold and willful. They do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones. Whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the

Lord. But these, these false teachers, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed, blaspheming about matters of which they are utterly ignorant, will also be destroyed in their destruction, suffering wrong as the wage for their wrongdoing.

They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions while they feast with you.

They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls.

They have hearts trained in greed, accursed children, forsaking the right way.

They have gone astray. They've followed the way of Balaam, the son of Baor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, but was rebuked for his own transgression.

A speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet's madness. Balaam was a prophet for profit.

Going on, these are waterless springs, misdriven by a storm. For them, the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved, for they speak loud boasts of folly.

They entice by sensual passion of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who are in error.

They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and then overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

For it would have been better for them to have not known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

What the true proverb says has happened to them. The dog returns to its own vomit and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.

All right? So that's Peter's description of people, the false teachers, in our day.

Yeah, even in his day too. So all right, that's his description. Now here's a question. All right, if somebody's really bringing us the truth as a

Christian, as a teacher, as somebody that we should be listening to, don't you think that what they bring us should completely and perfectly accord with Scripture?

Shouldn't they be preaching the truth? And when anybody sounds like a fulfillment of 2

Peter 2, Jude, or even 2 John, the reason why they sound like they're a fulfillment of it is because they are.

And that's the part that the Christian church needs to come to grips with. Let me throw in another text in this regard here, and that is 2

Timothy 4. This is a text I go to regularly, and I don't apologize for the redundancy.

It helps us here. But I would note then, how is it that guys like these are succeeding today?

The answer is because Paul's prophecy is being fulfilled in our lifetime, which means this calls for us to have patient endurance and to soberly be a

Berean and compare what people are saying in God's name to what God's Word says. So Paul says in 2

Timothy 4, I charge in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing in his kingdom.

Preach the Word. What's the job of a pastor? Preach the Word. That's what we're supposed to do.

Preach the Word. If somebody is coming to you and they're not preaching the Word, they're not abiding in the teaching or going beyond it,

John says they're not your brother, right? So what are we supposed to do? Preach the

25:26

Word. Be ready in season and out of season. The season's when preaching the Word is out of vogue.

It's not going to be desired in the visible church of all things, right? But he says,

Reprove, rebuke, exhort with complete patience and teaching. Why? For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching.

They won't endure it. And you'll note that's our day that we live in right now. Oh man.

Preach the truth. Tell the truth. And they're going to, Oh, you're just doing the work of the devil.

Touch not. God's anointed. How dare you be divisive? Yeah, I've heard it all, right?

But the time is coming when people will not endure sound doctrine. That's now. But having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves.

And that's the thing. That's what's happening right now. How is it that guys like Sid Roth and the guests in this program succeed as well as they do?

The answer is just because the visible church, people within the visible church, they refuse to hear sound doctrine, and they've put out of the church as best as they can, those who would bring the truth of Scripture to them, and instead they have surrounded themselves with a zoo of yahoos, all right, who tell them what they want to hear.

And they richly reward them for telling them what they want to hear.

And so they're not enduring sound doctrine. They won't hear it. No, they refuse to hear it.

So what do they do? We're going to surround ourselves with the zoo of yahoos.

And that's what they are, right? They will accumulate for themselves teachers who will suit their own passions, and they'll turn away from listening to the truth, and they're going to wander off into myths.

But as for you, Pastor Timothy, be sober -minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry, all right?

So always and again, if somebody sounds like they're fulfilling 2 Timothy 4, 2

Peter 2, the epistle of Jude, 2 John, the reason why that they think that they're fulfilling it is because they are, all right?

These are deceitful workmen. They are the agents of darkness. They are the agents of the devil and the

Antichrist in the visible church. Case in point. So coming back to this. All right. Waxing eloquent.

I had to throw some scripture in here. All right. So already, this guy, I don't even know who he is.

I've never before today heard of Troy Brewer, all right? I can already tell you, he is an ear -scratcher.

He is one of the guys that Peter warned us about in 2 Peter. He's one of the ones that Jude warned us about, a prophet for profit, okay?

Yeah, you can already tell by the hype. And whose channel is he appearing on?

Yeah, okay. Let's just say nothing good's coming out of there.

All right. So I clicked on the link. I did. I did.

I clicked on the link. And so this is my first exposure to Troy Brewer.

I've already watched it, so I know what's coming. But this is the first video I saw of his. Let's walk through some of this, shall we?

Hello, friends. I'm Troy Brewer, and I'm a senior pastor out at Open Door Church in Burleson, Texas.

All right. Now, by the way, I went and did some research, looked up Open Door Church in Burleson, Texas, and found some of his sermons.

And I've subscribed to his YouTube channel because I get the feeling we're coming back to this guy. You know, I've been walking with God for a long, long time.

I got saved in 1986. Who's he preaching about? Himself.

And since the first moment I got saved, I've had crazy cool supernatural encounters with King Jesus.

Yeah, he's had crazy cool supernatural encounters. And what is this creating? You know, well, how come

I never have any crazy cool supernatural encounters? How come he, from 1986 on, he's been having these really cool...

He hasn't. He's lying to you. Okay. If he's had supernatural encounters, they're not with King Jesus.

All right. You can tell by the way this guy twists Scripture. And I'd like to share one of my very favorite times that I sought the

Lord in a radical way, and I found the Lord in a very radical way. Really? So you sought the

Lord in a radical way? Radical. Okay. Maybe that's my problem. I only seek the

Lord in, like, the usual ways. I have refused to do the radical thing, so I haven't earned the right for a radical thing.

What biblical text teaches us that if we seek the Lord radically, we'll have radical experiences?

And see, now we're off the reservation. He's not abiding in the teaching of Christ.

He's not abiding in the teachings of Scripture. He's gone beyond it. All right? There is no biblical text that says, if you seek

Jesus in a radical way, you'll have a radical encounter with Jesus. All right? This is a whole new doctrine, and it's not found in Scripture.

And so let me remind you again what it is that John wrote in this regard.

Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching. They've gone on ahead.

I started to do. I told my bride, I said, you know what? I'm going to do like a seven day fast.

And so she said, okay, that's a great idea. And for me, man, when I fast and seek the Lord, that's a really big deal.

I really hadn't had anything crazy cool happen. It was just a special time with me and the Lord.

And the Lord began to invite me into a four day, into a 14 day fast. How did he begin to invite you?

How exactly does the Lord do that? And I thought, I don't know, maybe I'll just go 10. So I went 10 and then.

But the Lord invited you to 14 and you said, oh, I don't know, Lord. I don't know, maybe 10.

I decided I could do 14. I decided I could do four more. And when I got to four, the

Lord, I just felt this special grace to do 21 days. And so now I'm seeking the Lord.

And he didn't tell me at the beginning because he knew I would never sign up for that. Yeah, right.

God on the last five days of my fast of this 30 day. See, this is totally inconsistent.

You mean you've been fasting for almost a month and you haven't been seeking God yet, but you're going to seek him in the last five?

Uh -huh. Fast in the most radical way that I possibly could. Well, so how did you up the radicalness of your fasting?

What was the secret radical ingredient? I got into my old pickup truck and I drove all the way to Big Bend National Park.

I mean, was Jesus up there going, Whoa, finally, this guy's meet the threshold of radicalness so that I can give him a radical encounter of me.

And which is the most remote part of Texas. And it's a huge drive.

And so like a 12 hour drive. And I drove there. I got to the park. I'd never, ever, ever been there before.

I got on this old park road. And when the road ran out, I kept driving down the trail.

And when the trail ran out, I just drove across this field until I couldn't drive anymore. And then

And I know, King Jesus, that when I knock that you will indeed open that door. Notice he is now twisting scripture for the purpose of receiving a radical manifestation and experience of God.

And so third night, third night, I'm just sitting in my tent. I'm, you know, just just doing my thing.

And all of a sudden, I had an open vision. Yeah, right. Now, friends,

I suddenly was in this place with God. The glory of God filled up my little tent.

Were there other campers who witnessed the glory of God? Could the glory of God fit in your tent?

Maybe it was like a TARDIS. Anyway, let's just keep going. This is absurd. The spirit of the

Lord showed up in an incredible way. I was arrested by the Holy Spirit. Then why aren't you in prison?

I felt the presence of God like I'd never felt the presence of God before. Whoop -de -doo!

In position before me was something like a wall, but it was very much alive.

And it moved like this. Was it like that light thingy from poltergeist?

Can you throw tennis balls into it and they come back with, you know, like ooze on them and stuff? I knew that it was the presence of God somehow.

It was somehow like, like the glory of the Lord presented directly in front of me in a way that was vertical.

Again, why should I believe any of this? Because in telling me this story, you know who he's not telling me about?

Jesus. When Jesus said, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the

Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching all that I have commanded you. Is this in accord with the teaching that Christ gave and instructed his disciples?

No, not even close. And I was looking at it and all of a sudden, right in front of me,

I saw this hand come out just like this. And this hand was directly in front of me.

And it had nine little round things in it. And they look like marbles or something. And I was like, what?

This, this isn't God. And as soon as I looked into this hand that was directly in front of my face,

I looked at one and I could just zoom in. I zoomed in and I saw it was the jawbone of a donkey.

And then I zoomed out. Yeah, the thing you're beating us with right now. And then I looked at the next one. I just,

I zoomed in and it was a small army. And I was like, wow. And they were marching, all kinds of crazy stuff.

Since when is marching a crazy thing for an army to do? And then I, I zoomed back out,

I zoomed back in on another one and it was a tent peg, like, you know, what you nail down a tent with.

And I was like, what? I zoomed back out and I zoomed in on another one. Zoom, I zoomed in on it and it was a piece of a millstone.

And I just was looking at these things and I said, Lord, what are these things?

What, what are you, what are you showing me? And I heard the audible voice of Father God say,

Now, let's take a look at the text, shall we? Okay, we're going to take a look at Deuteronomy 18.

God laying out some prohibitions for his people. When you come into the land of Yahweh your

God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of the nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens.

Numerology, as they're describing it, is a practice that is forbidden by God's word.

It is a form of the interpretation of omens. So there you are. You're driving down the street and you're heading off to In -N -Out

Burger to get a double -double animal style. Oh, this is a godly thing.

And while you're waiting in the line, you look at your clock and the clock says, what?

That it's 1 -11 in the afternoon. What's God trying to tell you?

Nothing. It's 1 -11 in the afternoon. He's not trying to tell you anything.

In fact, believing that God is speaking to you in this way is forbidden. It's a form of the interpretation of omens.

But that's what you get when you're looking for something more. And Scripture says, what does

Scripture say again? Yes, it says, everyone who goes on ahead and doesn't abide in the teaching of Christ does not have

God. Yeah, all the something more is out there. Yeah, you better beware. You're not abiding in the teaching here.

And you're being taught stuff that Scripture overtly condemns. Right on, you know, just at the very, at the very beginning, when whenever we announced to people, like, well, what kind of weirdness is that?

Why would you even do that word? You know, here's what's really is. It's just, it's just simply the understanding that God uses weights, measures, numbers, in order to glorify himself.

So, you know, when you hear that, oh, they picked up two omers of something. Oh, well, we need to find the biblical numerological significance of two omers.

It's a historical narrative. It's just describing what happened. And to really present his glory to us.

It's one of the ways that God speaks to us in an incredible way. We know that Psalms 29 says. All right, now he's twisting

Psalm 29. Ooh, this is terrible. The voice of the Lord is upon the waters. The voice of the Lord is upon the many waters, right?

So there's no end to the voices of God. Now there's. Wow, that was slick. Okay, so what did he just do there?

He twisted the Psalms almost exactly the same way the devil twisted the

Psalms when he tempted Jesus. Let me, let me explain here. All right, let's, let's take a look here. We're going to go to, let's see.

Matthew chapter four. Matthew chapter four. All right, here's what it says.

Jesus was led, led by the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting 40 days, 40 nights, he was hungry.

Now, granted, there are, there are, there are some significant meanings behind particular numbers in scripture, but it's not numerology.

And finding their significance is actually quite easy in the scriptural texts themselves. All right.

So after fasting 40 days and 40 nights, he was hungry. Tempter came to him and said to him, if you are the son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.

Jesus answered, as written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Quotes to the devil,

Deuteronomy chapter eight, verse three. Next, the devil took him to the holy city, set him on the pinnacle of the temple.

And this is the part that's important. And he said to him, if you are the son of God, note that the devil's trying to get

Jesus to doubt the voice of the father who said, you are my beloved son in whom I am well -pleased, from when

Jesus was baptized. If you are the son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written.

And watch what the devil does here. He quotes the scriptures, but he omits something. He twists it.

So he now quotes Psalm 91, verses 11 and 12, and omits a piece of it.

I'll show you what it is in a second. So the devil says, because it is written, he will command his angels concerning you, and on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

Does Psalm 91, verses 11 and 12, say that if Jesus wants to, he can just throw himself off temples and stuff and the angels will lift him up?

No, it doesn't say that. In fact, that's a twisting of Psalm 91. So let's take a look at it.

Actually, I want to go here. Let's do this here. Go Psalm 91, and we're going to take a look at verses 11 and 12.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

That's the part the devil left out. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

All right? So by leaving this part out and misquoting Psalm 91, 11, and 12, the devil made it appear like that the text teaches that Jesus can just throw himself off of temples and stuff, and the angels would be right there on the spot to catch him.

All right? But what does Jesus say? What does Jesus say to the devil in that regard? Jesus said, again, it is written, you shall not put the

Lord your God to the test. Counters with sound scripture in context, addressing the issue at hand.

So the text that we're looking at here is Psalm 29, specifically verse 3.

And here's my question. Does Psalm 29 teach us that God has many voices and many ways in which he talks to us?

You know, like numerology and stuff. The answer is no. This is an actually frightening

Psalm, by the way, when you consider its implications. Ascribe to Yahweh, O heavenly beings, ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.

Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due his name. Worship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness.

The voice of Yahweh is over the waters. The God of glory thunders.

Yahweh over many waters. Now you're going to note something here, and paying attention to the exegesis is important.

Here it says, the voice, kol in Hebrew, singular.

The voice of Yahweh is over the waters. Doesn't say voice says.

Still one voice. The voice of Yahweh is powerful. The voice of Yahweh is full of majesty.

The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars. The Yahweh breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes

Lebanon to skip like a calf Syrian, like a young wild ox. The voice of Yahweh, still singular, flashes forth flames of fire.

The voice of Yahweh shakes the wilderness. The voice, Yahweh shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of Yahweh makes the deer give birth and strips the forest bare in his temple, all cry, glory.

Yahweh sits enthroned over the flood. Yahweh sits enthroned as king forever. May Yahweh give strength to his people.

May Yahweh bless his people with peace. And so here we have an example of the voice of the Lord coming to us in glory, and it's a frightening picture.

But what did Troy Brewer do? He did the devil thing. He twisted

No doubt. None whatsoever. He ticks off all the prophetic boxes that Peter gave us to look for a false teacher, that Paul gave us, that Jude gave us, that Christ gave us, all right?

So let me back this up and— One word of God. Let's see. Let's back this up here. We know that Psalms 29 says,

Psalm 29 and 3 says at all. Whenever you're hearing God speak, okay, from a preacher, from a book

No one has ever defined it like that. You just flat out made that up. Right? And you know that.

Once you turn it on, you cannot turn it off. You start hearing God speak through the license plates in front of you. Have you heard the voice of God on the license, speaking to you from the license plates numbers, from the car sitting in front of you in traffic?

You'll be at Kroger and go, What the? Look, God's talking to me. Through everything around you and you really start to learn how to acknowledge him.

That isn't the voice of God at all. So notice he's teaching you to hear God's voice where it isn't. And this is just crazy talk.

John writes about. Jesus. Yeah, in fact, we'll take a look at one of the things that Jesus, that John says about Jesus.

In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. He was in the beginning with God, and all things were made through him.

The light shines in the darkness. The darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was

John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, so that all might believe through him.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory. Glory is of the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John bore witness about him, and cried out, This is he of whom I said, He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.

For from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses.

Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." So you'll note here, grace and truth comes from Christ.

Now, I want to point something out. Why was John so obsessed with telling us about Jesus? Well, there's kind of a thesis statement that John gives for what he writes, which

I think actually applies to all of Scripture, properly so. In the Gospel of John chapter 20,

John writes these words. Now, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which they're not written in this book.

But these things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you might have life in his name.

And here's the big difference then between guys like Troy Brewer and men who properly exegete the

Scriptures and preach the Word. Those who preach the Word and properly exegete it are going to keep telling you about Jesus, because they know that these things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the
