Book of Romans - God's Governance of Man | The Law of Love, Pt. 5 (02/13/2022)

00:00
All right, now we're good to go. So I've said pretty much the same thing last time,
00:06
Ben. So you can splice it back in the front of this one, but, uh, all 25 of the points that I'm giving you,
00:11
I'm not saying I'm going to give you 25 points today, you couldn't stand it, but time of the study is over 25 points.
00:18
Any one of which is enough to prove that the legalizers, the Judaizers are wrong when they say you need to mix law with grace, they're absolutely wrong.
00:27
And so, uh, the cause of salvation is, uh, you're, you are called by the
00:34
Holy spirit and regenerated by him. And that's it. Everything else is an effect. They don't understand that fact.
00:40
Most Christians don't understand that, but they did 150 years ago. If you go back and read the surgeons of the surgeons, the sermons of Charles Spurgeon and people like that, um, you know, you, you are even come closer in history,
00:54
Arthur pink, amazing. Uh, I recommend all of you read his book, the attributes of God by Arthur pink mice.
01:01
So read that it's like reading the Bible. It's amazing. Uh, but these, these gentlemen understood these things.
01:08
The church has understood it up until this day. I mean, this, these modern times are when the church has changed the gospel and it's a fact and it's sad, but.
01:19
We've covered a few of these points. The first one was in Romans 13, nine, the agape love of Christ is the fulfilling of the law.
01:26
And I was just saying, Ben, before you came on, I was just saying, you know, if something is full, you can't add anything to it.
01:33
So the love of Christ fulfills the law and a period that's the end of that. So there's no, you don't bring in the 10 commandments.
01:41
You don't bring any part, any of the three parts of the old Testament law. None of it is brought in and that has nothing to do with obedience.
01:50
Obedience is not to the law. Obedience is to Christ. And we keep the law of Christ, which is love.
01:57
And it is the fulfillment of the laws of Moses, all three parts. And, uh, it's so well -proven it's been proven to every generation and every century for 2000 years again, and again, and one of the last things we'll do is study church history and look at what the church fathers have said about this very same issue.
02:14
It's not a new battle, but the legalizers have never won the battle and they never will.
02:19
Not as long as we're alive, not as long as Park Meadows exists. Uh, we won't let that happen. Lord willing.
02:25
Right. Well, Lord is willing for that not to happen. So point number two, all right.
02:32
Natural man's depravity prevents him from getting hold of the truth.
02:37
He cannot be saved by the law because he cannot get hold of the truth. Jesus said in John chapter one, one through five, the third point, the law and the prophets, in other words, the entire notice it mentions law and prophets that typifies the entire old
02:52
Testament is not to be placed on the same level with grace, which came by Jesus Christ, God, the father said that with his voice, he spoke his voice into time and space at the trans mount of transfiguration and said, don't put
03:10
Jesus on the same level with Moses and Elijah. He's higher.
03:15
He's on a higher level. And he rebuked the apostle Peter. He might be the only man that was rebuked by God, the father.
03:22
I don't know. Pretty interesting. All right. The fourth thing we talked about was Jesus Christ himself is the fulfillment of the law.
03:29
Well, the first point was that agape love is this point is Jesus is how can they both be true because the
03:35
Bible teaches it's not that God loves us. It, that he is love. So God is love.
03:41
Jesus is love. So Jesus and the agape love of Jesus is the fulfillment of the law.
03:46
There is nothing else needed. It is fulfilled in Christ. Number five, the promise of salvation comes through imputation only.
03:55
And that is to both Jew and Gentile. It was that way in the old Testament. It was that way 400 years before the law of Moses at the
04:03
Abrahamic covenant. It's that way 300 years after Zachariah, which was the last book of the
04:08
Jewish old Testament is not the same order, same books as we have, but not the same order. And, uh, so it's always been that way always will be.
04:16
And if anyone asks the question, do you have two different modes of salvation, old and new? No, it's always been by faith.
04:22
Always, always, always. Now I will admit the Jews miss that. In fact, they, for the most part, miss their
04:29
Messiah because of that. But, um, here we see in Romans four, eight through 10, second
04:35
Corinthians five 21, first Peter two 24, and, uh, many places quoted from the old
04:42
Testament scriptures as well, that this is a fact, uh, the promise of salvation comes only through the
04:47
Abrahamic covenant, which is a covenant of imputation, which is a covenant of faith, not works.
04:53
All right. So Romans four, eight blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
05:00
Cometh this blessedness then upon circumcision only that would mean only on the Jews, or does it come on the
05:06
Gentiles also for, we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
05:12
Now that's interesting because that word reckoned is in the aorist passive tense, which means someone greater than Abraham did this to Abraham.
05:20
So God gave Abraham the faith. It was not that Abraham just decided to believe on his own the same way with Noah before the flood.
05:28
The entire world was in wickedness before the flood, including Noah, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the
05:35
Lord. The Bible says grace means undeserved favor, which means that God didn't look down and see Noah and say,
05:40
Oh, there's a fine one there. There's a great man of faith. I'll, I'll save him and his family because of his faith.
05:46
It was the other way around. He looked down at Noah and said, well, he is one of my sheep.
05:51
I chose him before the foundation of the world and his sons and their wives. And so therefore I can lose none of them.
05:57
So he gave them the gift of faith enough to build an arc when no one even knew what rain was.
06:02
That's quite an amazing story, but the same is true of Abraham. It was reckoned to him, given to him by God.
06:10
And, uh, it is a faith is a gift and it's the faith of Christ. It's not the faith of Abraham.
06:15
Although once Abraham had it, it was his just like with us. We're saved by the faith of Christ given to us as a gift.
06:24
It's not our belief. It's his belief that saves us. But once he gives it to us, it's a gift.
06:29
It belongs to us now it's our faith. And, uh, that's how it's always worked 400 years before Moses.
06:35
This was true according to Romans four, nine, and then after, uh, during the time of Christ and now it's still true.
06:42
It's always been the same story. How was it then reckoned when Abraham was a
06:48
Jew or when he was Gentile, not when he was a Jew, but when he was a Gentile and in Romans four 11, and he received the sign of circumcision.
06:57
It's really important to understand that right there, because there's so many of our friends who claim you have to get baptized in water to be saved.
07:05
Well, the water baptism is just a sign of the spiritual baptism that takes place when the
07:11
Holy spirit places us within Christ and connects us to each other and to Jesus and to the father that's called spirit baptism.
07:19
Water baptism is a picture of that, a sign of it, a seal of it. It's not the thing itself.
07:25
And if you read this about the old Testament, Jewish circumcision, it worked the same way.
07:30
It was a sign. It is not what saved him. It is what showed they were already saved. Read it carefully.
07:36
You see that. And he received the sign of circumcision. That's Abraham, a seal of the righteousness of faith that he had.
07:45
Now look at the, look at the grammar there. At the time he was circumcised, he already had the faith.
07:53
You see that it is a sign of righteousness. Abraham had two things before he was ever circumcised.
08:00
First thing he had was the gift of faith. And the second thing he had was righteousness was imputed to him.
08:07
It was accounted to him as righteousness. He had both those things before he was circumcised. He was saved before he was circumcised.
08:15
So the circumcision was a sign or a symbol of the salvation, which he already had having been given to him by the
08:22
Holy spirit, and that's the same way it works today, but people don't get it. Baptism is a sign of something you already have.
08:30
In fact, before you ever made it down that Island down, if your church has an altar before you ever got out of your pew, you were saved because Romans 10, 13 in the
08:40
Greek reads this way for whosoever desires to call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
08:45
So once you had that desire hit your heart, that was a gift of the Holy ghost because you never had a desire before that moment because of our depravity.
08:54
But at that time, none seek at the Lord, not one. The Bible says, but at that moment, the Holy spirit opened your eyes.
09:00
You looked up, you saw Jesus for the first time and you couldn't resist him because he's irresistible to the sheep because he's the shepherd and the
09:07
Holy spirit opens your eyes and let you know you are a sheep brother. Otis, you'd say he notified you on your day of salvation.
09:15
And so Abraham received the sign of circumcision, which was a seal of the righteousness of faith, which he already had in the
09:24
Greek grammar yet being uncircumcised before he was circumcised. He already had faith and he already had righteousness of Christ, which means salvation that he might be the father of all them that believe though they be not circumcised in other words,
09:41
Gentiles too, so that the righteousness might be imputed unto them also. So that includes us.
09:47
That includes every Jew. There's neither Jew nor Gentile. None of us are under the law. None of us are saved by the law, nor does the law contribute one iotum to our salvation.
09:58
Um, in fact, Paul said, if you get circumcised to be saved, then Christ avails you nothing.
10:04
You won't be saved. So that can't be why you do it. It has to be done. Uh, water baptism has to be done as a sign or a symbol.
10:11
If it's done as part of the salvation, you ain't saved yet. All right. That's coming from Paul, not me.
10:17
I would not be that bold. All right. Righteousness is imputed to them. That is the
10:23
Gentiles also in their uncircumcision. They weren't
10:28
Jews, right? Just as it was for Abraham and his uncircumcision. Look at verse 12 and the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father,
10:44
Abraham, the faith of Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised for the promise that he should be the heir of the world.
10:54
Now this time at the Abrahamic promise was not to Abraham or to his seed.
11:00
Now I want you to focus in on the phrase, his seed, because we're going to see this again in today's study. And it's very, very important to understand what
11:08
God's seed is versus Satan's seed, and we're going to be talking about that, but, um, it was not under Abraham or his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
11:20
Now look, when your Judaizer friend comes and says, yeah, you believe in Jesus, but tell him you need to remove that because there it's
11:27
Jesus plus nothing. Right. It's Jesus plus nothing. And to Abraham and his seed.
11:33
Now, who is the seed of Abraham? It's the same as the seed of God. It's Jew and Gentile. It's not just Jews. It's every child of God that God knew before the foundation of the world,
11:42
Ephesians two, eight, nine, and all the other Romans chapter eight, everywhere else, all through the old Testament, all through the new Testament, Isaiah 53, everywhere, uh, all the way from Genesis three, 15, the pro -evangelium, uh, it's everywhere.
11:55
It's by grace for the promise that he should be the heir of the world through the
12:01
Abrahamic promise. It was not to him or his seed through the law, get it? Not through the law, not through the law, not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith, righteousness that comes by having the faith of Christ and therefore having his righteousness imputed to us, that is what saves us as nothing to do with the law, whether or not you obey the
12:26
Lord. And that's not the law either. We don't, we don't have to, we can eat fish, right? They couldn't, they couldn't eat fish.
12:32
Right. So we're not under any portion of any, any of the three sections of the law. We'll prove that later to you, but, but, um, we're not under it and we're not saved by it.
12:42
And in fact, we are saved by the righteousness of faith. The promise is not achieved through the law, but through the righteousness of Christ, which has been imputed to us who have his faith within our hearts.
12:58
And so that's how it works. So the sixth point is the promise of salvation comes not through the law, but the righteousness that comes by having been given the faith of Christ as a gift.
13:11
All right, well, let's keep moving. Romans four 14 for if they, which are of the law be heirs, then faith is made void.
13:22
Now look what he's saying. Now, Paul was the Jew of Jews, wasn't he? He studied under Gamaliel. He, he, he was a master of the law.
13:29
He was a lawyer. He was a Pharisee and then he got saved, didn't he? So he understood the law better than anybody.
13:36
And he said, if you're of the law and that makes you an heir, then faith is worthless because you can't be saved by faith plus doing stuff it's faith or it's doing stuff.
13:51
It can't be both. Paul says that again and again in many different ways. So if those who are of the law are heirs of the
13:58
Abrahamic promise, then faith is made void and the promise is made of none effect. So listen, if you want to be saved by doing stuff, there's a group here in Mahia doing it, led by a couple of women.
14:10
And I think of them as silly women led astray by false preachers is exactly what Paul talks about.
14:16
It's exactly what happened to these poor women. And, uh, so, you know, they're leading people back into weird aspects of the law, even stuff you've never even heard.
14:27
And, uh, uh, they use the name Gad for God. And I'd spoke to one of my friends at the seminarian and, you know, studied theology his whole life.
14:38
I said, where have you ever even seen the word Gad? It's not in the scriptures. And he said, no, it's not in the scriptures.
14:44
They got that somewhere else. So it's the weirdest stuff you ever saw. And it's, it's all over the place in very many different manners.
14:51
And you just have to understand that you can't have both. And if you try to have both, then the promise is made of no effect to you.
15:01
All right. So when it's of no effect, that means you can't be saved because it has to have an effect on you and Jesus has to have an effect on you for you to be safe.
15:11
Uh, he that is circumcised for salvation, um, Christ availeth him nothing. Paul says, and here,
15:17
Paul says that, uh, the promise avails you nothing. Boy, that is serious, serious information.
15:24
And you have friends and I have friends who think they're saved by Christ plus some stuff, and we need to tell them the truth.
15:31
They don't have much time left. So the seventh point in our study, and the reason why you can't mix works in with faith by salvation is the promise of salvation is of no effect.
15:43
If one is saved by the law, or if he depends on any portion of the law, then the promise has no effect on that person.
15:50
That is somber. Think about that. Why is that?
15:55
Why is it true that the Holy spirit speaks this through Paul? That, that if you think you're saved by the law of faith is made void in your life and the promises of no effect.
16:06
Why is that true? Verse 15 answers it because the law works wrath for where no law is.
16:13
There is no transgression. Like if you didn't have law, then you wouldn't know what sin is, but law made, you know, what sin is.
16:20
So it works the wrath of God in a person's life. Therefore it has to be by faith or of faith that it might be by grace to the end, talking about salvation, right?
16:32
To the end that the promise might be sure. And I wish I had underlined and bolded the word sure, because that's talking about eternal security and our same brothers, by the way, church of Christ here in the
16:43
South. I don't know what it is where you live. Roman Catholics, um, Mormons, Jehovah's witnesses, every group that focuses on works as part of their salvation plan.
16:54
Uh, every group, even modern Baptist do it. Some it's really sad. I call them Babto Catholics now, but, and I'm not picking on Catholics.
17:03
I got great friends who either were once Catholics or still are Catholics. But the point is, if you're depending on anything that your church brings you or any works or any of the stuff that the, you know, the, the tradition, uh, as part of the salvation, then faith availeth you nothing and Christ avails you nothing and the promise avails you nothing.
17:24
So you got to get saved on your own. And the problem with that is that those, that very law and that very tradition and those things you have to do, you think they bring the wrath of God upon you because you can't keep them.
17:38
You are not keeping them. Well, you may talk about it all day and say, it's part of your faith. Yeah, but you're not doing it.
17:44
You're breaking the very laws you created. And it brings the wrath of God. And, um, so therefore it has to be by faith that it might be by grace.
17:55
Remember the definition of grace, undeserved favor. It cannot be deserved.
18:01
It cannot be earned. There is nothing you can do to deserve it. Therefore works has nothing to do with it.
18:07
It must be faith. It comes as a gift. The faith of Christ comes to you. One of the 33 things the
18:13
Holy spirit does for you at the moment, he saves you at the moment he regenerates you.
18:18
It must be by faith that it might be by free undeserved grace to the end.
18:23
That the promise might be sure. Listen, if it's not by grace and it's not by faith of Christ, plus nothing, then you have no eternal security.
18:33
The promise cannot be sure. You wonder every minute you wake up and every minute of every day, you wonder if you, where are you going to go when you die?
18:40
Cause you don't know. But a person who has Christ in his life knows he's already, he's already living eternal life.
18:47
He doesn't wait to die to get it. He's living it now. He's walking with Christ. He's living eternal life now.
18:53
And so you have eternal security. You don't doubt your salvation when you have the Holy spirit in dwelling your body.
19:00
And that is one of the 33 things that we spirit does for us too. So it has to be by faith through grace to the end that you have eternal security.
19:09
Do you see that to the end that the promise is sure to all the seed,
19:15
Jew and Gentile, not part of the seed, a hundred percent, Jesus said, no man comes to the father and it comes to me unless the father draws him and of them,
19:23
I will lose nothing, but we'll raise it up at the end. Hallelujah. Isn't that wonderful? Not to that only, which is of the law.
19:29
It's not just the Jewish seed, but to that, which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of Saul.
19:36
So it's, it's by faith only. And even if someone could be saved through the law, then that would have to be through the promise, which means it can't happen that way because you never keep the law perfectly.
19:49
So you got to have the Holy spirit, wake you up and pull you out of that law. Just like what happened to Saul when he became
19:56
Paul and the Holy spirit opened his eyes and he actually looked up and he saw Jesus and he heard his voice clearly and the other people around him just heard a noise because they weren't elect, they weren't chosen.
20:09
Or at least it wasn't their birthday yet. And they weren't called. He was, he's the only one that heard it words.
20:15
The rest heard a noise. That's how salvation works. All right. So because it's individual.
20:21
All right. So here we go. He's the father of us all. So eighth point, therefore it is a faith.
20:27
Salvation is a faith that it may be by pure free unmerited favor.
20:32
So that the promise is sure. And you have eternal security. You don't doubt your salvation because it's not based on what you did or didn't do.
20:42
Verse 17, as it is written, I have made the father of many nations, not just the
20:49
Jews. Paul was always reminding the Jew of this. Yes. God will save a Gentile. Jesus died for all kinds of men.
20:55
That's what the word POS usually means in the Greek where it's translated all in English, doesn't mean he died for every individual, like so many people falsely teach, but he did die for all men in the sense of all kinds of men, both
21:08
Jew, Gentile, and every race. Some from every race shall be saved. That's what he's saying. And so, as it is written,
21:15
I have made the, a father of many nations before him, whom he believed, even God who quickened the dead and called those things, which be not as though they were that's talking about the
21:26
Gentiles, he called these as they were aliens and he called them family. He said they were not, but now they are.
21:33
They were dead. Now they're alive who against hope, believed in hope that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken.
21:45
So shall thy seed be. So Jesus says he planted wheat seeds.
21:51
He never planted the tears. Let's take a look at this a minute. How does God's seed come into the world?
21:58
Well, you go all the way back to the oldest writings of human history.
22:07
Genesis chapter three, verse 15. We call this the pro evangelium. It is the first mention of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
22:16
And it says, and I will put enmity between thee and the woman talking to Satan Wendy.
22:22
I will put enmity, hatred between Satan and the woman and between Satan's seed.
22:29
And her seed, it shall bruise thy head and now shall bruise his heel.
22:35
That is the first mention of the gospel. So here, going back to the first pages of Holy writ, the very first of all
22:44
God revealed to humans. Uh, it says there's two seeds in the world. There's seed of Satan and there's the seed of God.
22:50
Now Jesus refers to that in the new Testament in Matthew chapter 13, verse 24, let's review that a minute.
22:57
Let's start here with verse 24. Another parable put Jesus forth unto them saying the kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field.
23:10
So now we have, we're going to have two kinds of seed mentioned, good seed and bad seed. Wheat seeds and tare.
23:18
That's a weed. That's a form of a weed that looks just like weed. Only the farmer can tell the difference. If you're not the farmer, you'd think they were the same.
23:24
They look very similar, but you have this good seed mentioned here. And Jesus said, this is like the kingdom of heaven.
23:31
It's like you got good seed, which is sown into the field. But while men slept, the farmer's enemy came and sowed weeds all throughout his field among the wheat.
23:45
And then the enemy went on his way. And verse 27 says, so the servants of the householder came and said to her, him, sir, didn't you sow good seed?
23:57
Now think about this. They're asking, I mean, this represents Jesus, right? Uh, the farmer represents
24:02
Jesus. He says, didn't you just sow good seed? How come there's weeds in your field? And where'd they come from?
24:11
And as you go down and later on, they, Jesus taught another parable or two, and then they came to him privately and said, you know, that other one you told about the seeds, we don't understand that.
24:24
We don't understand how there's two seeds, Satan seed and God's seed. Explain that to us. So Jesus does.
24:29
And here's his explanation. Verse 34. All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude and parables and without a parable spake he not unto them.
24:39
And there are places where they ask him, why did you speak in a parable? And he said, because, because if I didn't,
24:44
Satan seed would understand me and believe, and I'd have to save them, but I ain't going to now that's
24:50
Texas prep paraphrase, but the scripture teaches that very, very clearly. Now I want you to think about that because that's not the modern gospel.
24:59
Is it, but it is, you know, it is the true gospel. It is the
25:04
Bible, but here it alludes to this. And, uh, he speaks to the pair, uh, to the multitude and parables.
25:11
It's the only way he was speaking. Why? So that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet saying,
25:18
I will open my mouth in parables. I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
25:28
So Jesus said he's what he's teaching in these parables was kept secret to the old
25:34
Testament, saints and prophets who, who looked into these things and saw them a little bit as through a glass darkly, but couldn't fully understand them until the
25:43
Lord Jesus came and began to teach them and open people's eyes to these truths. And this is one of these truths is that there are two seeds,
25:51
Satan seed and God's seed in the world. He continues in verse 36. Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house.
25:58
And the disciples came and said, explain this further. Wonder why they said that tell us about the tears of the field.
26:08
We don't get it. Well, Jesus answered and said unto them, he that sows the good seed is me.
26:14
Okay. The son of man. And he points to himself. I sowed the good seed.
26:20
You asked, did you sow bad seed? And I told you, no, I did not. I only sow good seed.
26:26
Interesting. Isn't it? Verse 38. He said the, the field in the parable represents the whole world.
26:32
It's a picture of the whole world, all people in the whole world. The good seed are the children of the kingdom.
26:40
That's God's seeds, wheat seeds. But the tears are the children of the wicked one.
26:47
The enemy that sowed them is the devil. Jesus named his name. Listen, think about it.
26:56
Next time you go out in the crowd and a crowd, wherever you go, football game or to the mall or wherever you go, look around you and realize that Jesus said broad is the way.
27:05
And many, there'll be that go to hell and narrow is the way narrow the gates. Few there'll be that are in that most of the people that you look at are tear seeds and they grow up as tears.
27:16
And listen, tears never morph into wheat. A tear doesn't turn into wheat, a tear seed that never grows into wheat.
27:23
It's always a tear. It always will be a tear. And a wheat seed can't turn into a tear. You cannot lose your salvation.
27:30
It's all taught here. Every great doctrine of salvation is mixed into this study. And so, so you, you know, who planted the good seeds,
27:39
Jesus into the world and who planted the tears, the evil seed, Satan, the devil put them in the world.
27:46
Now, does this tell us how he did it? No, it doesn't, but it tells us he did it. And Jesus is the one who said he did it.
27:52
So you got to ask yourself the question, does Jesus know what he's talking about? And if you don't have the right answer to that, you're not saved today.
27:59
You need to pray about it. You need to get saved, right? You don't understand who Christ is.
28:04
He is God. The Bible says all things were made by him and not anything was made without him.
28:10
And in the beginning was the word and the word was God. And the word was with God. So I said it backwards.
28:15
The word was with God and the word was God. All things were made by him without him was not anything made that was made.
28:22
This is who said that this is a fact of life. You have God's seed and you got Satan seed devil put the devil, put the tears on the earth.
28:29
Jesus put the wheat on the earth and they exist side by side. And they even came to him and asked him, well, should we go and separate them?
28:37
And he said, no, because you might get confused because the tears look like the wheat, my angels will separate them at the rapture.
28:44
Wow. Think about that at the second coming and the rapture, my angels will separate them.
28:51
They can see the difference and they will bind the tears and bundles and burn them. Jesus said, wow.
28:57
This is information that the modern church can hardly handle. It's just a little bit too straightforward.
29:03
In fact, most of Jesus and Paul's teaching would be that way. If they preach today, uh, people would hate it and, and they just wouldn't listen.
29:11
And, and you probably only have about 12 people in your church. If you were Jesus and Paul might have a few more, you know, not many, that's just how it goes, right?
29:21
The field is the world and the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the tears are the children of the wicked one.
29:27
The enemy that planted them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world and the reapers are the angels as therefore the tears are gathered and burned in the fire.
29:41
So shall it be at the end of the age. That's the end of the church age. And, uh, that's such priceless information because it helps us know how things work.
29:50
But when you look around yourself in a crowd and you realize, you know, most, probably most of the people I'm looking at are tears who will never be saved.
29:57
Now there'll be some lost sheep running around there who will become saved sheep. And they look just like goats because two allegories are used to teach this wheat and tears and in sheep and goats.
30:08
And, um, so a lost sheep can look like a goat and then get saved, but he never was a goat because goats don't morph into sheep.
30:16
I mean, God teaches all this in nature. I studied biology a lot when I was a kid,
30:21
I was pre -med for a while. Also, I know for a fact that baby goats don't turn into sheep, right?
30:27
Besides that, I was a farmer or a rancher actually for my grandfather and baby calves don't turn into horses.
30:34
It's taught in nature. It's all a picture of, of how salvation works. So there we have it.
30:41
Now let's go into one of my favorite books in the whole Bible, the book of Hebrews chapter 10, verse 18 says now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin and literally in the
30:55
Greek, no more sin offering. So the works of the law were abrogated as being the way to God.
31:04
They never were really the way to God, but they were totally removed here in this scripture.
31:10
The law was done away with, it was abolished. So there is no more old
31:15
Testament Jewish sin offering. And you got to ask yourself the question, well, how can you have salvation by law, if you no longer have the offering?
31:24
They stopped the day Jesus was crucified was the last offering the Jews ever made in all of history.
31:30
Think about that. Why, why did they leave their system, their sacrificial system? It just vanished in one day.
31:36
Why? That's one of the greatest proofs of the new Testament anywhere in the world is the fact that it just vanished in one day, a system that had gone on for, you know, 2000 years or more.
31:46
Why did it just vanish all of a sudden? Second Corinthians 3 .6
31:53
says this, who also has made us able ministers of the new Testament. Now, God introduces this concept of two covenants, an old covenant, which is the old
32:05
Testament and a new covenant, the new Testament, and he says, they are not the same.
32:11
You no longer mix one with the other. They are different. You have one and it passes away.
32:17
And then you have a new one that is in operation now. And this is so taught so many places in, in the
32:24
Bible, but it says who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant is what Paul called himself.
32:29
I am an able minister of the new covenant, not of the old Testament, not of the letter that's talking about, uh, the particular part of the old
32:39
Testament. That was the, had the 10 commandments, that part of the law, there are three types of law that one nails specifically the 10 commandments.
32:48
Now, how many friends do you have in churches today? If you said, Hey, we're not out of the 10 commandments, they would agree with you.
32:54
I mean, we put it on, we used to put it on the school rooms walls. I wish we still did, but, but we're not saved by that.
33:01
That's there for lost people. The law is for lost people. It keeps them in order on the earth.
33:06
And it's also to teach lost people that they need a savior that teaches the lost sheep that lesson and teaches the goats that, but the goats hate it, but the lost sheep remember it, and eventually it helps them understand they need a savior, right?
33:19
And so we're ministers of the new covenant, not the letter of the law, but of the spirit for the letter kills people, but the spirit gives life.
33:30
Now tell me that's not a distinction or a contrast between law and grace.
33:36
Law kills people, sends them to hell and grace saves people. How can you mix the two?
33:44
All right. But if the ministration of death written and engraven in stones, now, obviously we're talking about the 10 commandments, that portion of the law, if that was glorious and yes, it was glorious because God himself gave it, but if it was glorious, how shall not the administration of the spirit be rather glorious?
34:04
So if, if the law was glorious, think how much more glorious grace is. The spirit, the
34:12
Holy spirit working in our hearts for salvation, how much greater is that concept? For if the ministration of condemnation is glorious, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory?
34:26
Well, I mean, how much more clear can you get it than the fact that the Holy spirit just said to us through the mouth of Paul, through the writings of Paul, that the ministration in the new
34:37
Testament of free grace, where we receive righteousness, it is the righteousness of Jesus Christ himself is imputed to us because God has given us the faith of Christ.
34:49
And he, with that gives us righteousness. How much does that exceed in glory?
34:54
The concept of the law. Well, it's infinitely more beautiful, right? So once again, we see that the law brings condemnation, grace of being in Christ.
35:05
It brings righteousness. So the 10th point is the law kills, the spirit gives life and the spirit is much more glorious than any concept of salvation by works could ever be.
35:19
All right, let's continue a little bit. 2 Corinthians 3 10 for even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect by reason of the glory that excels.
35:30
Now let's let Paul sometimes, even, even the apostle Peter said, sometimes Paul's teachings are difficult, right?
35:37
He called them scriptures. Even sometimes Paul's scriptures are difficult. So let's see if we can simplify that a little bit.
35:47
Even the old Testament, that which was glorious, like Paul just said, even the old
35:52
Testament, it lost its glory in this respect by how glorious grace is.
36:01
You see, if you have a little bitty light bulb, like think of maybe a Christmas light on a tree, a little bitty light bulb, and you take it outside and you let the sun
36:12
God's wonderful light from the sun hit it, it becomes where you can't even see that light.
36:17
You don't even see it compared to this light. This little bitty light is the old Testament and salvation by works.
36:24
If there ever were such thing, which there wasn't. And this is the sun, which represents Jesus Christ.
36:30
This represents Moses. This represents Jesus Christ. And when you put this light on it, this light is not even visible.
36:37
So that which is done away was glorious, but much more that which remains is more glorious.
36:45
So the law is done away with that's an 11th point that's made. Now, listen, like I said, any of these 25 points is all you need to prove that you can't be saved by Jesus Christ and his blood and his free gift plus anything.
37:01
But if you didn't understand it and you just saw this one phrase in verse 11 of second
37:06
Corinthians, second Corinthians three, where it says for if that which is done away, that shows that the old
37:13
Testament is gone. It's done away. It's not, it's not what saves people. I don't think it ever was, but if it were, it's done away with now.
37:21
Now, why do you need any other scriptures? It's been done away with why are you trying to bring it back into the church?
37:27
But secondly, it says grace is more glorious than the law. So that's point number 12.
37:33
So it's just on and on, on and on. The old Testament economy was done away with in favor of the new
37:41
Testament economy of salvation by faith in Christ. And really it's the faith of Christ as we've taught so many times by being spiritually baptized into the body of Christ, which is the church.
37:54
This is much more glorious than the letter of the law. The scripture teaches verse 12, seeing then that we have such hope.
38:03
We use great plainness of speech, which is funny coming from Paul.
38:08
That'd be like me saying, I'm going to speak to you succinctly today and briefly. All right. And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that, which is to be abolished.
38:24
Now it's interesting because when Moses went up on that Mount and God gave him the 10 commandments, he spent time with God and when he came down, his face was shining so resplendently that it would blind people.
38:36
So he had to put a veil over it. And that became a symbol of the fact that the people could not have salvation by that law because it was so righteous.
38:47
They couldn't keep it. So glorious. They couldn't keep it. It was symbolized from the very moment
38:52
Moses brought it to him. And, um, so that's beautiful.
38:58
The law has been abolished and not as Moses, which put a veil over his face that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that, which is abolished, that's the law.
39:10
So it's kind of talking about something that happened where he put the veil. The point is that thing it's talking about, which is the law.
39:18
It has been abolished. Now you can't have a stronger word than that. It's been done away. It's been abolished.
39:25
The old Testament economy was abolished. This is even stronger language than saying it was done away with.
39:32
Now, verse 14 says, but their minds were blinded. This is the Jewish person who wants to think he's saved by the law.
39:39
Their mind is blinded today. So why would we listen to a person? If a person walks in our church says, Hey, I'm Jewish.
39:44
Listen to me. Why do, why did church people just instantly suck it up and say, wow, this is an amazing person.
39:51
Teach me how to get all legal. That's what we do. I'm Jewish. Listen to me, listen, their minds are blinded unless they've been born again.
40:00
They're still blind. And, and so look what it says. Their minds were blinded for until this day remains the same veil, the same symbolic bail that Moses put over his face because they couldn't look at the law, it was so resplendent.
40:14
They could never keep it. It's picturing this for until this day remains the same bail untaken away in the reading of the old
40:21
Testament, which veil is done away with in Christ. So Jesus does two things.
40:27
He abolishes the law and he removes the veil so that they can see that he is the fulfillment of the law.
40:35
They can see the law kept by Christ and they can see the fulfillment of the law, those who were born again.
40:41
And if that's a Jew, then a born again, Jew can see it. My mentor was a Jew, Dr. Erwin Freeman, Dr.
40:46
Rocky Freeman. And he was a saved Jew. And, uh, I tell you what he hated. He hated legalism.
40:52
He said, don't ever let Jews start their own congregations because they'll turn to legalism. Just let them mix in with the churches that are already here.
41:00
That was his viewpoint. Unfortunately, the great, uh, uh, evangelical works done among the
41:05
Jews, the leaders of those such as, uh, the American board of mission to the Jews and all the others, they didn't listen to brother
41:12
Rocky and they went the other way and they let the Jews start their own churches. And now to this day, they come out of those churches into our churches and try to teach us.
41:20
You've got to worship on Saturday. You got to do this. You got to do that. Listen, all of those arguments have already been won over the last 2000 years.
41:28
I'm going to end this study by showing those to you. And then they'll say, well, Hey, we just studied the Bible. We don't read that stuff.
41:34
Well, Paul studied more than the Bible. He said, bring me my parchments and my books. But anyway, they don't get that.
41:41
So their minds were blinded for until this day remain at the same day.
41:47
I'll untaken away from the reading of the old Testament. If all you have is the law, your eyes are blinded to salvation.
41:53
You cannot see it. And the only way you can is that the holy spirit calls you and regenerates you and opens your eyes.
42:00
And then you see Christ and you see the law is fulfilled, done away in Christ. So the natural mind is blinded to the truth.
42:10
That's another reason we can't be saved by keeping the law. And then the beautiful point in these verses is that that veil that's over the eyes of anyone who tries to get saved by the law, and they're looking at the law and that's all they can see.
42:23
It's like a veil that hides the truth of salvation from them. That veil is removed when a person is in Christ, when he's born again.
42:31
That's beautiful. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is still on the Jew's heart.
42:37
That's so sad. And if you're like me, you have Jewish friends and, and you witness to them and you witness to them and, and a small remnant will be saved by the grace of God, but most of them will reject it because there's a veil covering their eyes and they've been blinded until the age of the
42:56
Gentile is over. But at the end of the church age, when the Lord comes back at the second coming, all
43:02
Israel shall be saved. Every Jew still alive on the earth will become born again. Isn't that glorious. Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the
43:09
Lord, that is the heart. When the heart turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. How many of us out here listening today?
43:17
Raise your hand. If that's happened to you, man, that's amazing. Raise your hand. If that's happened to you, isn't that something all of a sudden, what used to be boring and dry that, that old
43:26
Bible, it comes alive, doesn't it? And you can't get enough of it. Now the Lord is that spirit and where the spirit of the
43:34
Lord is, there is liberty. So the 16th point is where the Holy spirit is. There's liberty.
43:39
If you're saved by true salvation, then you are regenerated by the
43:45
Holy spirit. And now you're free because you had nothing to do with it. Nothing to do with it. You, uh, you
43:52
Bible says while you were yet in your sins, while we were yet in our sins, has he quickened us, brought us to life, that's the
43:59
Holy ghost. And that is a calling. It's the effectual calling and it is the regeneration that takes place when he opens our eyes.
44:06
And then everything else is an effect. We believe we repent. We try to do good works.
44:13
We get baptized in the water. We walk with the Lord. We love the Lord. All of those are effects of that wonderful salvation.
44:20
And I quote Charles Spurgeon. When I say that he said, uh, an effect can never be the cause of the cause because he studied philosophy and logic.
44:28
So did I in college he's right. His logic is perfect. There an effect can never be the cause of the cause and logic.
44:35
And so, um, God said, come, let us reason together, use logic, right? You need to understand logic to understand
44:42
God sometimes, um, the parts of him, at least that he reveals to us. So from the time the children of Israel refused to have a direct personal relationship with God, they could not see what
44:56
Moses saw. Now, this is interesting. Historically to take a look at the fact that God offered to the
45:03
Jew to have the same thing we have. Remember 400 years before the law,
45:10
God had given the promise and that was to Jew and Gentile. And when
45:15
Moses came along on top of that mountain, when God gave the 10 commandments, God offered to the people to have a personal relationship, one -on -one relationship with God, like we can have this side of the cross, but they rejected it, the
45:28
Jew rejected it. And that's one reason they became in the place they are where they had the law, but then all of a sudden they began to worship the law rather than the one who gave the law and they missed the point that you can only be saved by faith.
45:43
So only when the heart turns to the Lord is the veil removed. And they see that salvation is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not through the keeping of the laws and the ordinances.
45:57
And we see in Exodus 19, 6, the Lord offered them that they could be unto me, quote, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
46:05
Who is offered that? The church, right? That's what we are in the church. We are a kingdom priests and this was offered to them and they rejected it.
46:13
Wow. It's interesting history. Here's their response. Exodus 20, 18.
46:19
And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking. And when the people saw it, they removed and stood afar off.
46:28
They moved away from God. Why? Because the holiness of God was so resplendently, powerfully, beautiful.
46:34
And the light was so bright and the thundering was so loud. And the righteousness of God came through and reflected upon their unrighteousness so much that they moved away from God.
46:45
They weren't drawn toward God. They stood afar off. And they said to Moses, you speak to us and we'll hear, but let not
46:53
God speak to us lest we die. So they rejected a personal relationship with Jesus and becoming believer priest at that time.
47:01
And that's when the law was ushered in. Their response was that they did not want a direct relationship with Jesus.
47:09
I believe this veil that was spoken about earlier represented the fact that the
47:17
Jew could not see that it was not by the keeping of the letter of the law, the feasts and all that.
47:24
It's not by that, that he could come to God, but it was by the faith of God himself who would send the
47:30
Messiah, who would take their sins away. And they stopped looking at that fact and they missed it because they started focusing on the law, which they could not keep.
47:39
So the Old Testament economy was abolished so that the new could come in. Hebrews 10, 8, above when he said sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and an offering for sin, thou would not, neither had pleasure therein, which are offered by the law.
47:57
Then said he, lo, I come to do thy will, O God, he taketh away the first that he might establish the second.
48:06
So here we see that the scripture says God took away the Old Testament and these offerings and so forth.
48:12
He took them away. He abolished them, took them away, that he might establish the
48:18
New Testament of grace, the gospel of grace. So the 17th point we see is
48:23
God takes away the first and he establishes the second, if that's the only point you had out of these 25, it's all you need.
48:30
He has removed the law as part of salvation. It never was part of salvation, really not as far as the cause.
48:36
It was part of the effect, but it was never part of the cause of salvation because that was always by faith, according to the
48:43
Abrahamic covenant, which happened 400 years before Moses. And Moses, the
48:49
Bible says could not abrogate what came before it. So there you go. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.
49:01
And every priest stands daily ministering, offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take sins away.
49:09
That tells you right there, you could never have been saved by the law. But this man,
49:14
Jesus Christ, after he had offered himself once, one sacrifice for this for sins forever sat down on the right hand of God and from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool for by one offering.
49:31
He has perfected forever. If you've never seen eternal security that you cannot lose your salvation, please see it in verse 14 of Hebrews chapter 10 for by one offering has he perfected forever.
49:43
That doesn't mean to you mess up forever means forever. Then that are sanctified where of the
49:50
Holy ghost also is a witness to us for after that he had said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, say the
49:59
Lord, I'll put my laws in their hearts and in their minds while I write them in their sins and their inequities.
50:05
Will I remember no more? So Jesus does not just cover our sins.
50:10
He removes them. And he also removes them from the memory of God, the father,
50:16
God, the father does not know you ever sin and he will never know that you ever sin. In fact, you ask him, forgive me for that.
50:21
He'll say for what? Cause he doesn't see your sins. Jesus deals with the sins and the Holy spirit deals with the sins in space and time, the father does not.
50:30
And, uh, glory, glory, hallelujah to that truth. And, um, so Holy God is kept separated from sin and he does not see our sins because Jesus has already removed them.
50:41
He did it 2000 years ago. So what did you have to do with that? You can't save yourselves.
50:47
It's all the finished work of Christ. So God takes away the first and he establishes the second.
50:54
Paul warned the saints not to return to the beggarly elements and the elements means the orderly arrangement or the rules of the law of the old.
51:04
Now look at this Galatians four, nine, but now after that you have known
51:09
God or rather are known of God. Now I love that. That's the sovereignty of God. It's not that you knew him.
51:15
It's he knew you first. It's not that you loved him. It's he loved you first. How turn you again to the weakened beggarly elements?
51:22
Paul says, look, I led you guys to the Lord. I go away for a while and some legalizer comes in,
51:28
Judaizer comes in and teaches you to add stuff to Jesus. And I come back and see this.
51:34
How have you returned to the beggarly elements to the law? Wow. If it's not enough that he said, he's done it away with it.
51:41
He's removed it. And all of these things we've already said. Now he says that the law is beggarly compared to grace where until you desire again to be in bondage, wow, they got rebuked.
51:54
So God says the law is beggarly compared to grace. Well, of all the 25, if you just remember this one
52:00
Galatians four, nine, it's all you need, right? It's the only one you need. You observe days and months and times and years.
52:07
This is what Judaizers will try to bring in. They'll try to say, Hey, you got to worship on Saturday. That's observing a day.
52:13
It's observing a day. There's no way around. That's what it's doing. Now, if you, I'm going to show you at the end of the study, what the old church father said, because they had the same argument come against them and they had an amazing answer that I'll give you later, but they're observing a day.
52:27
They want you to worship on Saturday, Sunday, Adventist or that way. These Judaizers come into all of our churches, even to this day.
52:33
And they will preach, man, why are you worshiping on Sunday? It proves that you're a Catholic. The Catholics brought that in.
52:39
Well, what if I could show you where they worshiped on Sunday prior to Constantine? Would you then realize that's a lie?
52:45
Well, you might want to think about that because I'm going to show that to you. But anyway, I am afraid of you. Wow. Beggarly elements were until you desire again to be in bondage.
52:54
You observe days, months and times and years. I'm afraid of you. Paul says, lest I bestowed upon you labor in vain.
53:00
Did I waste my time with you? He's saying, wow. In fact, the old has, if it's not enough, that is done away with and it's beggarly.
53:11
Now, now the Bible says it's banished away. Look at Hebrews 8, 13. And that he sayeth a new covenant.
53:17
He has made the first covenant old, right? That makes sense. Now that which decays.
53:24
So the old Testament Testament has decayed. It grows old.
53:30
And now it says it is banished away. So God says the law has decayed, grown old and banished away.
53:37
Is that not clear language? You don't mix it in. It's gone. So the old economy was done away with and the new and living way has replaced it.
53:47
This contrast is seen throughout Paul's writings. Well, I think we're out of time today and I appreciate you listening this long.
53:56
I got a little extra there because we didn't do any music or anything today. So, uh, thanks for bearing with me.
54:01
We got through 19 of the 25 points, um, today and any one of them is all you need to understand.
54:09
You don't listen to a Judaizer, right? So, um, you know, I just thank the
54:14
Lord for our, our scripture. Um, the Holy spirit, you know, when, when you talk about the water and the spirit, that's the word of God and the
54:22
Holy spirit, that's all we need to be saved. And that's all we need to grow. And God has given it to us.
54:28
So I'm going to turn it over to brother Dave and let you close us out, Dave. All right.
54:39
Thank you, sir. We, we had a little bit of discussion about what you were preaching on today.
54:45
It was cool because, uh, Ashton's been reading a book that apparently goes perfectly with what you were preaching on.
54:53
So she sent a little excerpt. I think she sent it to you too. So you'll have a chance to read that here in a little bit.
54:58
I also figured out my audio problem. So I finally have zoom working now where I can hear you guys, but, um, tell me what it was.
55:10
I'll tell you what, when we get done here, but I'll go ahead and close this out in a word of prayer real quick. Heavenly father,
55:16
Lord, we just thank you so much that we don't need our righteousness.
55:22
We need yours. We thank you that we have yours and that you've given it to us and that you have caused us to want to live for you.
55:30
Father, help us to focus on that relationship that you've given to us, help us to cultivate our side of that relationship and, uh, to do our very best to honor, uh, the salvation that you've already given us, father.
55:49
We know that all the works that we do are a result of that salvation. And, uh, apart from you, we can do nothing.
55:57
Therefore we could do nothing to get to you in the first place. So we thank you so much for your grace.
56:03
We thank you for your mercy. We thank you for, uh, just every, everything that you are and that you are just and justifying us, father.
56:13
We love you. We can't wait to see, uh, where this life will lead us. And we just ask that you bless us and keep us throughout the rest of this week as we walk in faith it's in Jesus name.
56:25
We pray these things. Amen. Thanks for joining us, everyone.
56:32
And we will see you next week at park Meadows. Take care. And as you go down and later on, they,
56:44
Jesus taught another parable or two, and then they came to him privately and said, you know, that other one you told about the seeds, we don't understand that.
56:52
We don't understand how there's two seeds, Satan seed and God's seed. Explain that to us. So Jesus does.
56:58
And here's his explanation. Verse 34, all these things spake Jesus unto the multitude and parables and without a parable spake, he not unto them.
57:07
And there are places where they ask him, why did you speak in a parable? And he said, because, because if I didn't
57:13
Satan seed would understand me and believe, and I'd have to save them, but I ain't going to now that's
57:18
Texas prep paraphrase, but the scripture teaches that very, very clearly. Now I want you to think about that because that's not the modern gospel.
57:27
Is it? But it is, you know, it is the true gospel.
57:32
It is the Bible, but here it alludes to this. And, uh, he speaks to the pair, uh, to the multitude and parables.
57:39
It's the only way he was speaking. Why? So that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet saying,
57:46
I will open my mouth in parables. I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
57:57
So Jesus said, he's what he's teaching in these parables was kept secret to the old
58:03
Testament saints and prophets who looked into these things and saw them a little bit as through a glass darkly, but couldn't fully understand them until the
58:12
Lord Jesus came and began to teach them and open people's eyes to these truths. And this is one of these truths is that there are two seeds,
58:19
Satan seed and God's seed in the world. He continues in verse 36. Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house and the disciples came and said, explain this further.
58:31
Wonder why they said that. Tell us about the tears of the field. We don't get it.
58:37
Well, Jesus answered and said unto them, he that sows the good seed is me.
58:43
Okay. The son of man. And he points to himself. I sowed the good seed. You asked, did you sow bad seed?
58:50
And I told you, no, I did not. I only sow good seed. Interesting. Isn't it?
58:55
Verse 38. He said the field in the parable represents the whole world.
59:01
It's a picture of the whole world. All people in the whole world. The good seed are the children of the kingdom.
59:08
That's God's seeds, wheat seeds, but the tears are the children of the wicked one.
59:16
The enemy that sowed them is the devil. Jesus named his name. Listen, think about it.
59:24
Next time you go out in the crowd, in a crowd, wherever you go, football game or to the mall or wherever you go, look around you and realize that Jesus said broad is the way in many, there'll be that go to hell and narrow is the way narrow the gates through there'll be the inner end that most of the people that you look at are tear seeds and they grow up as tears and listen, tears never morph into wheat, a tear doesn't turn into wheat, a tear seed that never grows into wheat.
59:52
It's always a tear. It always will be a tear. And a wheat seed can't turn into a tear. You cannot lose your salvation.
59:58
It's all taught here. Every great doctrine of salvation is mixed into this study. And so, so you, you know, who planted the good seeds,
01:00:07
Jesus into the world and who planted the tears, the evil seed, Satan, the devil put them in the world.
01:00:14
Now, does this tell us how he did it? No, it doesn't, but it tells us he did it. And Jesus is the one who said he did it.
01:00:20
So you got to ask yourself the question, does Jesus know what he's talking about? And if you don't have the right answer to that, you're not saved today.
01:00:27
You need to pray about it. You need to get saved, right? If you don't understand who Christ is, he is
01:00:33
God. The Bible says all things were made by him and not anything was made without him. And in the beginning was the word and the word was
01:00:41
God. And the word was with God. So I said it backwards. The word was with God and the word was God. All things were made by him without him was not anything made that was made.
01:00:50
This is who said that this is a fact of life. You have God seed and you got Satan seed. Devil put the devil, put the tears on the earth.
01:00:58
Jesus put the wheat on the earth and they exist side by side. And they even came to him and asked him, well, should we go and separate them?
01:01:05
And he said, no, because you might get confused because the tears look like the wheat. My angels will separate them at the rapture.
01:01:13
Wow. Think about that. At the second coming in the rapture, my angels will separate them.
01:01:19
They can see the difference and they will bind the tears and bundles and burn them. Jesus said, wow, this is information that the modern church can hardly handle.
01:01:29
It's just a little bit too straightforward. In fact, most of Jesus and Paul's teaching would be that way.
01:01:35
If they preach today, uh, people would hate it and, and they just wouldn't listen. And, and you probably only have about 12 people in your church.
01:01:42
If you were Jesus and Paul might have a few more, you know, not many. That's just how it goes, right?
01:01:50
The field is the world and the good seed are the children of the kingdom, but the tears are the children of the wicked one.
01:01:56
The enemy that planted them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world.
01:02:01
And the reapers are the angels as therefore the tears are gathered and burned in the fire.
01:02:09
So shall it be at the end of the age. That's the end of the church age. And, uh, that's such priceless information because it helps us know how things work.
01:02:19
But when you look around yourself in a crowd and you realize, you know, most, probably most of the people I'm looking at are tears who will never be saved.
01:02:26
Now there'll be some lost sheep running around there who will become saved sheep. And they look just like goats because two allegories are used to teach this wheat and tears and in sheep and goats.
01:02:36
And, um, so a lost sheep can look like a goat and then get saved, but he never was a goat because goats don't morph into sheep.
01:02:45
I mean, God teaches all this in nature. I studied biology a lot. When I was a kid, I was pre -med for a while.
01:02:51
So I know for a fact that baby goats don't turn into sheep, right? Besides that I was a farmer or a rancher actually for my grandfather and baby calves don't turn into horses.
01:03:03
It's taught in nature. It's all a picture of, of how salvation works. So there we have it.
01:03:09
Now let's go into one of my favorite books in the whole Bible, the book of Hebrews chapter 10, verse 18 says now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin and literally in the
01:03:24
Greek, no more sin offering. So the works of the law were abrogated as being the way to God.
01:03:32
They never were really the way to God, but they were totally removed here in this scripture.
01:03:38
The law was done away with. It was abolished. So there is no more old
01:03:43
Testament Jewish sin offering. And you got to ask the self the question. Well, how can you have salvation by law?
01:03:51
If you no longer have the offering, they stopped the day Jesus was crucified was the last offering the
01:03:57
Jews ever made in all of history. Think about that. Why, why did they leave their system, their sacrificial system and just vanished in one day?
01:04:05
Why? That's one of the greatest proofs of the new Testament anywhere in the world is the fact that it just vanished in one day, a system that had gone on for, you know, 2000 years or more.
01:04:15
Why did it just vanish all of a sudden? Second Corinthians 3 .6 says this, who also has made us able ministers of the new
01:04:26
Testament. Now God introduces this concept of two covenants, an old covenant, which is the old
01:04:34
Testament and a new covenant. The new Testament. And he says, they are not the same.
01:04:40
You no longer mix one with the other. They are different. You have one and it passes away.
01:04:46
And then you have a new one that is in operation now. And this is so taught so many places in, in the
01:04:52
Bible, but it says who also has made us able ministers of the new covenant is what Paul called himself.
01:04:58
I am an able minister of the new covenant, not of the old Testament, not of the letter that's talking about, uh, the particular part of the old
01:05:08
Testament. That was the T the 10 commandments, that part of the law. There are three types of law that one nails specifically the 10 commandments.
01:05:17
Now, how many friends do you have in churches today? If you said, Hey, we're not under the 10 commandments, they would agree with you.
01:05:23
I mean, we put it on, we used to put it on the school room walls. I wish we still did, but, but we're not saved by that.
01:05:29
That's there for lost people. The law is for lost people that keeps them in order on the earth.
01:05:35
And it's also to teach lost people that they need a savior that teaches the lost sheep that lesson and teaches the goats that, but the goats hate it, but the lost sheep remember it.
01:05:45
And eventually it helps them understand they need a savior. Right. And so we're ministers of the new covenant, not the letter of the law, but of the spirit for the letter kills people, but the spirit gives life.
01:05:59
Now tell me that's not a distinction or a contrast between law and grace law kills people, sends them to hell and grace saves people.
01:06:09
How can you mix the two? All right. But if the ministration of death written and engraven in stones, now, obviously we're talking about the 10 commandments, that portion of the law, if that was glorious and yes, it was glorious because God himself gave it, but if it was glorious, how shall not the administration of the spirit be rather glorious?
01:06:33
So if, if the law was glorious, think how much more glorious grace is the spirit, the
01:06:41
Holy spirit working in our hearts for salvation, how much greater is that concept for if the ministration of condemnation is glorious, much more death, the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
01:06:54
Well, I mean, how much more clear can you get it than the fact that the Holy spirit just said to us through the mouth of Paul, through the writings of Paul, that the ministration in the new
01:07:05
Testament of free grace, where we receive righteousness, it is the righteousness of Jesus Christ himself is imputed to us.
01:07:14
Because God's given us the faith of Christ. And he, with that gives us righteousness. How much does that exceed in glory?
01:07:23
The concept of the law? Well, it's infinitely more beautiful, right? So once again, we see that the law brings condemnation, grace of being in Christ.
01:07:33
It brings righteousness. So the 10th point is the law kills, the spirit gives life and the spirit is much more glorious than any concept of salvation by works could ever be.
01:07:48
All right, let's continue a little bit. Second Corinthians three 10 for even that, which was made glorious, had no glory in this respect by reason of the glory that excels now let's let
01:07:59
Paul sometimes, even, even the apostle Peter said, sometimes Paul's teachings are difficult, right?
01:08:05
He called them scriptures. Even sometimes Paul's scriptures are difficult. So let's see if we can simplify that a little bit.
01:08:15
Even the old Testament, that which was glorious, like Paul just said, even the old
01:08:21
Testament, it lost its glory in this respect by how glorious grace is.
01:08:29
You see, if you have a little bitty light bulb, like think of maybe a Christmas light on a tree, a little bitty light bulb, and you take it outside and you let the sun
01:08:40
God's wonderful light from the sun hit it, it becomes where you can't even see that light.
01:08:46
You don't even see it compared to this light. This little bitty light is the old Testament and salvation by works.
01:08:53
If there ever were such thing, which there wasn't. And this is the sun, which represents Jesus Christ.
01:08:58
This represents Moses. This represents Jesus Christ. And when you put this light on it, this light is not even visible.
01:09:06
So that which is done away was glorious, but much more that which remains is more glorious.
01:09:13
So the law is done away with, that's an 11th point that's made. Now, listen, like I said, any of these 25 points is all you need to prove that you can't be saved by Jesus Christ and his blood and his free gift plus anything.
01:09:29
But if you didn't understand it and you just saw this one phrase in verse 11 of second
01:09:35
Corinthians three, where it says for, if that, which is done away, that shows that the old
01:09:41
Testament is gone. It's done away. It's not, it's not what saves people. I don't think it ever was, but if it were, it's done away with now.
01:09:49
Now, why do you need any other scriptures? It's been done away with, why are you trying to bring it back into the church?
01:09:55
But secondly, it says grace is more glorious than the law. So that's point number 12.
01:10:01
So it's just on and on, on and on the old Testament economy was done away with in favor of the new
01:10:09
Testament economy of salvation by faith in Christ. And really it's the faith of Christ as we've taught so many times by being spiritually baptized into the body of Christ, which is the church.
01:10:22
This is much more glorious than the letter of the law. The scripture teaches verse 12, seeing then that we have such hope.
01:10:31
We use great plainness of speech, which is funny coming from Paul.
01:10:36
That'd be like me saying, I'm going to speak to you succinctly today and briefly. All right. And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that, which is to be abolished.
01:10:52
Now it's interesting because when Moses went up on that Mount and God gave him the 10 commandments, he spent time with God.
01:11:00
And when he came down, his face was shining so resplendently that it would blind people. So he had to put a veil over it.
01:11:06
And that became a symbol of the fact that the people could not have salvation by that law because it was so righteous.
01:11:15
They couldn't keep it so glorious. They couldn't keep it. It was symbolized from the very moment
01:11:20
Moses brought it to him. And, um, so that's beautiful.
01:11:27
The law has been abolished and not as Moses, which put a veil over his face that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that, which is abolished, that's the law.
01:11:39
So it's kind of talking about something that happened where he put the veil. But the point is that thing it's talking about, which is the law.
01:11:46
It has been abolished. Now you can't have a stronger word than that. It's been done away.
01:11:51
It's been abolished. The old Testament economy was abolished. This is even stronger language than saying it was done away with.
01:12:00
Now, verse 14 says, but their minds were blinded. This is the Jewish person who wants to think he's saved by the law.
01:12:07
Their mind is blinded today. So why would we listen to a person? If a person walks in our church says, Hey, I'm Jewish.
01:12:13
Listen to me. Why do, why did church people just instantly suck it up and say, wow, this is an amazing person teach me how to get all legal.
01:12:21
That's what we do. I'm Jewish. Listen to me, listen, their minds are blinded unless they've been born again.
01:12:29
They're still blinded. And, and so look what it says. Their minds were blinded for until this day remains the same veil, the same symbolic veil that Moses put over his face because they couldn't look at the law.
01:12:41
It was so resplendent. They could never keep it. It's picturing this for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old
01:12:50
Testament, which veil is done away with in Christ. So Jesus does two things.
01:12:55
He abolishes the law and he removes the veil so that they can see that he is the fulfillment of the law.
01:13:03
They can see the law kept by Christ and they can see the fulfillment of the law, those who were born again.
01:13:09
And if that's a Jew, then a born again, Jew can see it. My mentor was a Jew, Dr. Erwin Freeman, Dr.
01:13:15
Rocky Freeman, and he was a saved Jew. And, uh, I tell you what he hated. He hated legalism.
01:13:21
He said, don't ever let Jews start their own congregations because they'll turn to legalism. Just let them mix in with the churches that are already here.
01:13:28
That was his viewpoint. Unfortunately, the great, uh, uh, evangelical works done among the
01:13:34
Jews, the leaders of those such as, uh, the American board of mission to the Jews and all the others, they didn't listen to brother
01:13:40
Rocky and they went the other way and they let the Jews start their own churches. And now to this day, they come out of those churches into our churches and try to teach us.
01:13:49
You've got to worship on Saturday. You got to do this. You got to do that. Listen, all of those arguments have already been won over the last 2000 years.
01:13:56
I'm going to end this study by showing those to you. And then they'll say, well, Hey, we just studied the Bible. We don't read that stuff.
01:14:03
Well, Paul studied more than the Bible. He said, bring me my parchments and my books, but anyway, they don't get that.
01:14:09
So their minds were blinded for until this day remain at the same veil and taken away from the reading of the old
01:14:17
Testament. If all you have is the law, your eyes are blinded to salvation. You cannot see it.
01:14:23
And the only way you can is that the Holy spirit calls you and regenerates you and opens your eyes.
01:14:28
And then you see Christ and you see the law is fulfilled, done away in Christ. So the natural mind is blinded to the truth.
01:14:38
That's another reason we can't be saved by keeping the law. And then the beautiful point in these verses is that that veil that's over the eyes of anyone who tries to get saved by the law, and they're looking at the law and that's all they can see.
01:14:51
It's like a veil that hides the truth of salvation from them. That veil is removed when a person is in Christ, when he's born again, it's beautiful, but even under this day, when
01:15:02
Moses is read, the veil is still on the Jew's heart, that's so sad. And if you're like me, you have
01:15:08
Jewish friends and you witness to them and you witness to them and a small remnant will be saved by the grace of God.
01:15:17
But most of them will reject it because there's a veil covering their eyes and they've been blinded until the age of the
01:15:25
Gentile is over. But at the end of the church age, when the Lord comes back at the second coming, all
01:15:30
Israel shall be saved. Every Jew still alive on the earth will become born again. Isn't that glorious? Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the
01:15:38
Lord, that is the heart. When the heart turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. How many of us out here listening today?
01:15:45
Raise your hand. If that's happened to you, man, that's amazing. Raise your hand. If that's happened to you, isn't that something all of a sudden, what used to be boring and dry that that old
01:15:55
Bible, it comes alive, doesn't it? And you can't get enough of it. Now the Lord is that spirit and where the spirit of the
01:16:02
Lord is, there is liberty. So the 16th point is where the Holy spirit is. There's liberty.
01:16:08
If you're saved by true salvation, then you're regenerated by the
01:16:14
Holy spirit. And now you're free because you had nothing to do with it. Nothing to do with it.
01:16:19
You, uh, you Bible says, while you were yet in your sins, while we were yet in our sins, have he quickened us, brought us to life, that's the
01:16:27
Holy ghost. And that is a calling. It's the effectual calling. And it is the regeneration that takes place when he opens our eyes and then everything else is an effect.
01:16:37
We believe we repent. We try to do good works. We get baptized in the water.
01:16:43
We walk with the Lord. We love the Lord. All of those are effects of that wonderful salvation.
01:16:49
And I quote Charles Spurgeon. When I say that he said, uh, an effect can never be the cause of the cause because he studied philosophy and logic, so did
01:16:58
I in college. He's right. His logic is perfect. An effect can never be the cause of the cause and logic.
01:17:04
And so, um, God said, come, let us reason together, use logic, right? You need to understand logic to understand
01:17:11
God sometimes. Um, the parts of him, at least that he reveals to us. So from the time the children of Israel refused to have a direct personal relationship with God, they could not see what
01:17:24
Moses saw. Now, this is interesting historically to take a look at the fact that God offered to the
01:17:31
Jew to have the same thing we have remember 400 years before the law
01:17:38
God had given the promise. And that was to Jew and Gentile. And when
01:17:44
Moses came along on top of that mountain, when God gave the 10 commandments, God offered to the people to have a personal relationship one -on -one relationship with God, like we can have this side of the cross.
01:17:55
But they rejected it. The Jew rejected it. And that's one reason they became in the place they are where they had the law.
01:18:03
But then all of a sudden they began to worship the law rather than the one who gave the law. And they missed the point that you can only be saved by faith.
01:18:11
So only when the heart turns to the Lord is the veil removed. And they see that salvation is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, not through the key keeping of the laws and the ordinances.
01:18:25
And we see in Exodus 19, six, the Lord offered them that they could be unto me, quote, a kingdom of priests and a holy nation who is offered that the church.
01:18:35
Right. That's what we are in the church. We are a kingdom priests and this was offered to them and they rejected it.
01:18:42
Wow. It's interesting history. Here's their response. Exodus 20, 18, and all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking.
01:18:53
And when the people saw it, they removed and stood afar off. They moved away from God. Why? Because the holiness of God was so resplendently, powerfully, beautiful.
01:19:03
And the light was so bright and the thundering was so loud. And the righteousness of God came through and reflected upon their unrighteousness so much that they moved away from God.
01:19:14
They weren't drawn toward God. They stood afar off and they said to Moses, you speak to us and we'll hear, but let not
01:19:21
God speak to us lest we die. So they rejected a personal relationship with Jesus and becoming believer priest at that time.
01:19:30
And that's when the law was ushered in. Their response was that they did not want a direct relationship with Jesus.
01:19:38
I believe this veil that was spoken about earlier represented the fact that the
01:19:45
Jew could not see that it was not by the keeping of the letter of the law, the feasts and all that.
01:19:52
It's not by that, that he could come to God, but it was by the faith of God himself who would send the
01:19:58
Messiah, who would take their sins away. And they, they stopped looking at that fact and they missed it because they started focusing on the law, which they could not keep.
01:20:08
So the Old Testament economy was abolished so that the new could come in. Hebrews 10, 8, above when he said sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and an offering for sin, thou would not, neither had pleasure therein, which are offered by the law, then said he, lo,
01:20:27
I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first that he might establish the second.
01:20:34
So here we see that the scripture says God took away the Old Testament and these offerings and so forth.
01:20:40
He took them away. He abolished them, took them away that he might establish the new
01:20:47
Testament of grace, the gospel of grace. So the 17th point we see is God takes away the first and he establishes the second.
01:20:55
If that's the only point you had out of these 25, it's all you need. He has removed the law as part of salvation.
01:21:01
It never was part of salvation, really not as far as the cause. It was part of the effect, but it was never part of the cause of salvation because that was always by faith, according to the
01:21:12
Abrahamic covenant, which happened 400 years before Moses and Moses, the
01:21:17
Bible says could not abrogate what came before it. So there you go. By the which will, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.
01:21:29
And every priest stands daily ministering, offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take sins away.
01:21:37
That tells you right there. You could never have been saved by the law. But this man,
01:21:43
Jesus Christ, after he had offered himself once, one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God and from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool for by one offering he has perfected forever.
01:22:01
If you've never seen eternal security that you cannot lose your salvation, please see it in verse 14.
01:22:07
Of Hebrews chapter 10 for by one offering has he perfected forever. That doesn't mean to you mess up forever means forever.
01:22:15
Then that are sanctified where of the Holy ghost also is a witness to us.
01:22:21
For after that, he had said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days.
01:22:27
Say the Lord, I'll put my laws in their hearts and in their minds. Will I write them in their sins and their inequities?
01:22:34
Will I remember no more? So Jesus does not just, um, cover our sins.
01:22:39
He removes them. And he also removes them from the memory of God. The father,
01:22:44
God, the father does not know you ever sin. And he will never know that you ever sin. In fact, you ask him, forgive me for that.
01:22:50
He'll say for what? Cause he doesn't see your sins. Jesus deals with the sins and the Holy spirit deals with the sins in space and time.
01:22:57
The father does not. And, uh, glory, glory, hallelujah to that truth. And, um, so Holy God is kept separated from sin and he does not see our sins because Jesus has already removed them.
01:23:10
He did it 2000 years ago. So what did you have to do with that? You can't save yourselves.
01:23:15
It's all the finished work of Christ. So God takes away the first and he establishes the second.
01:23:22
Paul warned the saints not to return to the beggarly elements. And the elements means the orderly arrangement or the rules of the law of the old,
01:23:32
I look at this Galatians four, nine, but now after that, you have known
01:23:38
God or rather are known of God. And I love that. That's the sovereignty of God. It's not that you knew him.
01:23:43
It's he knew you first. It's not that you loved him. It's he loved you first. How turn you again to the week and beggarly elements.
01:23:50
Paul says, look, I led you guys to the Lord. I go away for a while. And some legalizer comes in,
01:23:56
Judaizer comes in and teaches you to add stuff to Jesus. And I come back and see this.
01:24:02
How have you returned to the beggarly elements to the law? Wow. If it's not enough that he said, he's done it away with it.
01:24:10
He's removed it. And all of these things we've already said. Now he says that the law is beggarly compared to grace.
01:24:18
Where until you desire again to be in bondage, wow, they got rebuked. So God says the law is beggarly compared to grace.
01:24:25
Well, of all the 25, if you just remember this one, Galatians four, nine, it's all you need, right?
01:24:31
It's the only one you need. You observe days and months and times and years. This is what
01:24:36
Judaizers will try to bring it. And I'll try to say, Hey, you got to worship on Saturday. That's observing a day. It's observing a day.
01:24:43
There's no way around. That's what it's doing. Now, if you, I'm going to show you at the end of the study, what the old church fathers said, because they had the same argument come against them.
01:24:51
And they had an amazing answer that I'll give you later, but they're observing a day. They want you to worship on Saturday, seven day
01:24:57
Adventist or that way. These Judaizers come into all of our churches, even to this day. And they will preach, man, you, why are you worshiping on Sunday?
01:25:05
It proves that you're a Catholic. The Catholics brought that in. Well, what if I could show you where they worshiped on Sunday prior to Constantine?
01:25:11
Would you then realize that's a lie? Well, you might want to think about that because I'm going to show that to you.
01:25:16
But anyway, I am afraid of you. Wow. Beggarly elements were into you desire again, to be in bondage.
01:25:22
You observe days, months and times and years. I'm afraid of you. Paul says, lest I bestowed upon you labor in vain.
01:25:29
Did I waste my time with you? He's saying, wow. In fact, the old has, if it's not enough, that is done away with it.
01:25:38
And it's beggarly. Now, now the Bible says it's vanished away. Look at Hebrews eight 13.
01:25:44
And daddy say it's a new covenant. He has made the first covenant old, right?
01:25:49
That makes sense. Now that which decays. So the old Testament Testament has decayed.
01:25:56
It grows old and now it says it is banished away. So God says the law has decayed, grown old and banished away.
01:26:06
Is that not clear language? You don't mix it in it's gone. So the old economy was done away with, and the new and living way has replaced it.
01:26:15
This contrast is seen throughout Paul's writings. Well, I think we're out of time today and I appreciate you listening this long.
01:26:24
I got a little extra there because we didn't do any music or anything today. So, uh, thanks for bearing with me, but we got through 19 of the 25 points, um, today and any one of them is all you need to understand.
01:26:37
You don't listen to a Judaizer, right? So, um, you know, I just thank the
01:26:42
Lord for our, our scripture. Um, the Holy spirit, you know, when, when you talk about the water and the spirit, that's the word of God and the
01:26:51
Holy spirit, that's all we need to be saved. And that's all we need to grow. And God has given it to us.
01:26:57
So I'm going to turn it over to brother Dave and let you close us out, Dave. All right.
01:27:08
Thank you, sir. We, we had a little bit of discussion about what you were preaching on today.
01:27:14
It was cool because, uh, Ashton's been reading a book that apparently goes perfectly with what you were preaching on.
01:27:21
So she sent a little excerpt. I think she sent it to you too. So you'll have a chance to read that here in a little bit.
01:27:26
I also figured out my audio problem. So I finally have zoom working now where I can hear you guys, but, um, tell me what it was.
01:27:38
I'll tell you what, when we get done here, but I'll go ahead and close this out in a word of prayer real quick. Heavenly father,
01:27:45
Lord, we just thank you so much that we don't need our righteousness. We need yours.
01:27:51
We thank you that we have yours and that you've given it to us and that you have caused us to want to live for you.
01:27:59
Father, help us to focus on that relationship that you've given to us.
01:28:06
Help us to cultivate our side of that relationship and, uh, to do our very best to honor, uh, the salvation that you've already given us father.
01:28:18
We know that all the works that we do are a result of that salvation. And, uh, apart from you, we can do nothing.
01:28:25
Therefore we could do nothing to get to you in the first place. So we thank you so much for your grace.
01:28:31
We thank you for your mercy. We thank you for, uh, just every, everything that you are and that you are just and justifying us, father.
01:28:42
We love you. We can't wait to see, uh, where this life will lead us. And we just ask that you bless us and keep us throughout the rest of this week as we walk in faith it's in Jesus name.
01:28:54
We pray these things. Amen. Thanks for joining us everyone.
