Gender Stereotypes: Do Men Need Women More Than Women Need Men?

The message of Christianity is that salvation is found in Christ alone, and any who reject

Christ therefore forfeit any hope of salvation, any hope of heaven.

The issue is that humanity is in sin, and the wrath of Almighty God is hanging over our heads.

They will hear His words, they will not act upon them, and when the floods of divine judgment, when the fires of wrath come, they will be consumed, and they will perish.

Father, where He sits now to make intercession for us. Jesus is saying there is a group of people who will hear

His words, they will act upon them, and when the floods of divine judgment come in that final day, their house will stand.

On this episode of Bible Bash, we will be answering the question, Do men need women more than women need men? Now, in order to answer this question, do men need women more than women need men, you have to define in what sense you're using the term need.

So as it relates to issues of physical protection and safety, one of the things that's very true as it relates to answering this kind of question is that if society were to fail, if we were to enter into a third world war, if there was a war that was being fought on our turf, if anarchy prevailed, if you're in the middle of Chaz, if the zombie apocalypse ever happens to come, then the stark reality would be that if anarchy prevailed, women would obviously need men in order to survive much more than men would need women in order to survive.

Now, that's true as it relates to what realities would be in terms of wartime, but then there's a sense in which if man were left to his own ends and the typical male having his overabundance of courage and engaging in the dangerous kind of activities that young men often engage in, without the mitigating effect of the caution of the standard female, it might be that many men find ways to kill themselves through participation in the dangerous activities that they participate in.

So if you were to answer this simple question, which gender needs the other one more as it relates to their own survival, well, in terms of protection, women obviously need men to protect them from danger, and the more danger that's present in the world, and we could enter into times where there is significant danger, women would obviously need men more in that kind of way.

But then as it relates to caring for small children and keeping them safe and training them not to be so destructive, men obviously need women more than other men to egg them on into some of the foolish activities that they might be regularly able to perform also.

Now, as it relates to needing each other in order to propagate the species, one of the things to realize is that in Genesis 2 .18,

when God says it's not good for man to be alone, but he's going to make a helper fit for him, that man needed a woman in order to accomplish all the purposes that God had for the human race.

But then the inverse of that is also true. Woman needed man to accomplish all the purposes that God had for the human race as well, and woman was created from man and for man.

And so as you think about some of these things, God has designed the human race in order to have certain purposes that he had in mind that he wanted them to accomplish.

God designed man and gave him tasks to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. So man on his own, without the help of a woman, is fundamentally unable to fill the world up full of people.

But then woman on her own is also equally fundamentally unable to fill the world up full of people.

Man on his own is unable to exercise the kind of dominion that God wanted man to have, without the help of the woman in that kind of way.

And then the inverse of that is also true. And so as you're trying to answer this question, do men need women more than women need men, we're living in a kind of society right now which is essentially a matriarchal society.

And essentially the way that we view the relationship between the sexes along these lines is we think of women as basically being able to do anything a man can do and probably better.

And this is basically the plot line of almost every single movie and TV show or book that you're going to read at this point.

But then the truth is that both man and woman are made fundamentally, according to God, is designed to be absolutely in need of the other person in order to accomplish everything that God has planned for them.

If you want a world that is filled with all the good things that God wants it to be filled with, you're going to have to have what we have described on our podcast as the traditional masculine virtues of strength and courage.

If you want a world that's filled with houses that are built, that takes a lot of physical strength, that takes a lot of courage, that takes a lot of fortitude, that takes a lot of the kind of virtues that females don't have in abundant supply.

If you want to keep these possessions that we build, if you want to keep them safe, you're going to have to have the strength of a man.

If you want to make them beautiful, you're going to have to have the grace and the beauty that a woman is going to bring into this kind of equation.

If you want the kind of harmony that God wants in the world, you're going to need both genders using their gifts and their talents in different ways.

So as you think about these kinds of things, both genders need each other in order to accomplish everything that God has for them to accomplish.

Whenever you live in a society that's imbalanced in one way, what happens is all of society functionally suffers.

There are societies in the past that have been dominated by male sensibilities. I'm thinking in particular of the

Stoics or the Spartans at that point. There are those kinds of societies which essentially suppress all of the helpful feminine traits or attributes that can be brought into a society and make it more reflect the image of God in the world.

And so a Stoic society or a Spartan society would be examples of male -dominated societies which would be distorted in one way.

But then we're living in the kind of society right now which is essentially matriarchal in its orientation. And essentially the society we're living in right now is unable to face even the smallest danger.

It considers words to be fundamentally violent. It is unable to mitigate even the slightest risk.

It prioritizes feelings over facts. And so we're living in an extreme kind of matriarchal society at this point which is imbalanced in other ways which is going to lead to our inevitable collapse as a civilization.

So you have civilizations that place greater emphasis on the need for men.

And then you have civilizations that are going to place greater need on women. And what we need to do is realize that the kind of society that God has designed is going to be the kind of society where men obviously lead but then we both need the contributions of each gender in order to be whole and to be helpful and to honor the
