- 00:15
- Well, a good morning to you as we begin this new day. I want to encourage you with a few thoughts from Exodus chapter 31 for your journey ahead today.
- 00:26
- Wherever that journey might take you and whatever you are called to do in the course of that journey, what might that be?
- 00:34
- What might your career be, your occupation, your vocation? Maybe you're listening today and you're going to be taking care of children, going to be homeschooling your children, or some other capacity, working in the home.
- 00:50
- Maybe you're going out to work in a factory, in an office, maybe you have your own business, whatever the case.
- 00:57
- One thing that stands out to me in the reading in Exodus 31 is that regardless of your vocation, whether you are working in the ministry or working in a mine somewhere, whether your job requires you to be in the
- 01:18
- Word all day, or whether you're out in the workforce, the fact of the matter is that you can be filled with the
- 01:29
- Holy Spirit in the doing of that work. Let me show you. In Exodus 31, the
- 01:36
- Lord spoke to Moses, and verse 2 says, the Lord says, See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the
- 01:47
- Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.
- 01:55
- Now, those first three things, filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom and understanding and knowledge.
- 02:02
- If it ended there, we might suppose, well, Bezalel, he's going to be involved in some work of teaching people
- 02:12
- God's Word, and so on and so forth. But that's not what he's doing. He's filled with the
- 02:19
- Spirit so that he might have wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in crafting things, in making things, in his work as an artisan.
- 02:30
- Yeah, his work as an artisan. And so you go on, and the
- 02:36
- Lord says, I filled him with the Spirit so that he can design artistic works to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.
- 02:49
- The Spirit of the Lord fills this man to do these various artistic craft works.
- 02:59
- Now, I find great encouragement in that, and I hope it encourages you as well, because that means it doesn't matter what your vocation is.
- 03:11
- If you're a child of God, I want to encourage you, ask God that by his grace he would fill you with his
- 03:21
- Spirit, so that you can do your work in the factory, or in the home, in the office, in the shop, out in the field somewhere, building a home, or building a spreadsheet, that whatever that vocation is, ask that God would fill you with his
- 03:43
- Spirit, so that you might carry out that work in such a way that brings glory to God.
- 03:51
- This is what he did for Bezalel, and I'm encouraged that you can do your work, whatever you're called to do, you can do your work in a
- 04:05
- Spirit -filled way, so that you have wisdom, understanding, and knowledge in that field and in that work, so that you might apply what you understand and know in a way that your work is done well and brings glory to God.
- 04:27
- Pray for the Spirit to fill you in your work. Heavenly Father, thank you for this encouraging passage of Scripture today, and I pray for God's people, regardless of their vocation, to be filled with your
- 04:42
- Spirit in such a way that whatever their work, they can bring glory to you through wisdom, understanding, and knowledge applied to that work, we pray in Jesus' name and for his sake.
- 04:56
- Amen. All right, well listen, have a good rest of your day today. I trust the
