Okay, we are getting a clearer picture of what may have sparked that heated confrontation at Palm Springs City Hall. That's where a group had gathered to protest the passage of Prop 8.

Let's go back live down to Palm Springs and Kimberly Chang. Kimberly? Get out of here. Get out. Chris, we are being a little attacked here.

Let me explain. We need to call the police. She just wants to express her viewpoints, sir.

I'm standing here with Phyllis Burgess. As you can see right now, we are being attacked.

She walked out here earlier. If you roll the video, you can see. Okay, you know what?

We may have to leave. Okay, I'm okay. I don't want to keep people anymore.

Phyllis Burgess, she walked out earlier. Quite obviously, there is so much noise down.

We can't hear our reporter Kimberly Chang, but to get our viewers up to date here, there is a rally down there for people who are in favor of same -sex marriage.

The woman you saw in yellow came up. We think there was a man or perhaps two men with her. She obviously is against same -sex marriage.

She had a cross in her hand. As you can see, that happened about ten minutes ago. Now, in the last few minutes, as she is being interviewed by Kimberly Chang, many of those people are loudly protesting her presence.

Again, we don't know if any police have arrived on the scene or not yet, Brooke. Without losing this live picture of what's going on there, because it seems that this scene has really not lessened in aggressiveness since we picked this up about ten minutes ago, maybe we can show a little bit of the incident that sparked what has now turned into a very, very heated debate right now amongst these people that have come to Palm Springs City Hall to protest the passage of Proposition 8.

As you see there, that is Phyllis Burgess, the woman that we've just identified. She walked there holding, as you can see, a large cross along with what appears to be a couple of other people.

Within just moments, it didn't take long for that cross to be pulled out of her hand, and the woman, as the cross gets trampled, and the man that you just saw live standing on the right side of your screen, very loudly talking to the camera, it appears is the one who is stomping on that cross.

And what we're clearly seeing, and again, this happened roughly eight, nine, ten minutes ago, is a lot of anger and a lot of hate, quite honestly, on both sides.
