Joel Osteen TRIED to Hide This...

Do you ever feel like you need to talk about sin more? You know, when I talk, I just feel like I do it in a different way.

I get that, you know, that criticism sometimes, but, you know, I'm still one of the old -fashioned ones that give an altar call at every service and on every television broadcast, and, you know, when

I talk about it, I talk about, you know, how we can become better, how we can overcome. And I just, you know,

I probably categorize it bigger, but I don't feel like I'm supposed to go and beat people down. Most people know what they're doing wrong.

There's a guy down my way, down in Houston, Smiling Joel. Smiling Joel says sinners don't need to be told they're sinners.

They know they're sinners. No, they don't. They don't. They don't. They look at the guy on the news who hacks somebody up, and they say, that's a sinner, not me.

They don't sin. They make mistakes. You sin, but they don't. They make bad choices.

They have bad patches. They have bad habits, but they're not sinners.

They're not individuals who pursue their own fleshly desires at the expense of everyone and anything else, unless they can be helped in their fleshly desires.

I understand you have Muslims, even atheists. How do you explain that? You know... Why would an atheist be a fan of...

Well, I think what they like, Larry, is when, you know, the principles that we teach are from the scripture, but they can help anybody, you know, to reach dreams or to forgive or to have a healthy, you know, good self -image.

So, you know, I know I'm not a traditional pastor in terms of I'm just going down teaching scripture by scripture because, you know, a lot of my, you know, what

I would teach would just be more how to live a great life. A few weeks ago, there was an event here at Dodger Stadium with Joel Osteen.

35 ,000 people at Dodger Stadium, something like that. He is now the largest quote -unquote church,

I'm using the word loosely, in America, down in Houston. You need to understand that he is a pagan religionist in every sense.

He's a quasi -pantheist. Jesus is a footnote that satisfies his critics and deceives his followers.

Some of the criticism is that you're preaching prosperity. I was reading some of the critics, and I was thinking, well, why would you, why would anybody criticize you for preaching prosperity?

Because what kind of God wants you to be poor and miserable? That's the way I feel as well.

With flashy speakers who tell us everything we want to hear so that we can have our best life now because that is indeed what we want.

More than God. Joel Osteen is probably the most famous and popular pastor in the

United States with about 45 ,000 attendees to Lakewood Church every week and over 3 .15

million subscribers on YouTube. Joel is very popular because he is pretty much always positive and always smiling.

Okay, why and how are you so happy and filled with joy?

I know everyone calls you the smiling preacher, but you are not the smiling preacher, you're the smiling person.

You're always happy, full of joy. What's the key? What's the secret? However, there is a disturbing dark side to Joel's positive message that millions around the world love.

Take a look at what Joel did when Oprah attended Lakewood Church. Today we are so honored to have a world changer, a history maker.

Hey Oprah, glad to have you. Alright, awesome to have you.

We love you, we pray for you. When Oprah attended Lakewood, Joel chose to praise, exalt, and celebrate

Oprah rather than recognize the obvious fact that Oprah does not believe the true gospel of Jesus Christ and needs to hear the gospel and be saved.

Joel's ministry is characterized by partnerships with heretics and professing Christians who are clearly not true

Christians. Listen to Joel's glowing praise of T .D. Jakes. I'm so excited today to welcome one of my favorite people in all the world.

Not only a phenomenal minister, entrepreneur, author, movie maker, but a great friend of mine.

That's the one and only Bishop T .D. Jakes. We love you here at Lakewood. We're just speaking blessings over you. Again, like with Oprah, Joel praises and exalts someone who teaches numerous heresies including denying the biblical view of the

Trinity. I'm not crazy about the word persons. Most people who know me know that that is really...

My doctrinal statement is no different from yours except for the injection of manifest instead of persons which you describe as modalists and I describe as Pauline.

And the prosperity gospel. You need to use... However, when your gift is $125 or more, you will receive abundant supply on DVD, a blessed mug, and no card set.

Joel also praises and endorses Joyce Meyer. We are so excited to have one of our favorite ministers in all the world,

Joyce Meyer, here today. We know how much you love her. We love her so much. Give her a great big hand clap as she comes.

Joyce Meyer. Well, you guys are awesome. You are just awesome.

Good to see y 'all. But similar to T .D. Jakes, Joyce has never repented of teaching some unbelievably heretical doctrines.

When I talked with Dr. Roberts today and we talked about this seed faith thing, he said something awesome. He said the

Bible says giving and receiving, but he said God has taught me by studying that word receiving that another way to say that word is receiving.

The word receiving means receiving. And so he said when you give, you get a receipt in heaven that when you have a need, you can then go with your receipt and say, you see

God, I have got my receipt from my sowing and now

I have a need and I'm cashing in my receipt. It seems clear that the reason why

Joel endorses and praises heretical teachers such as T .D. Jakes and Joyce Meyer is not because he's simply ignorant of what they are teaching, but rather it's because he is perfectly okay with what they're teaching and probably even agrees with them most of the time.

When you help those in need, you are lending to the Lord and he will repay you. God knows how to repay you.

Nobody can pay you like God can pay you. But Joel's endorsement of people who can rightly be considered enemies of true

Christianity goes even further than heretical teachers such as T .D. Jakes and Joyce Meyer.

And in the same way that Joel does not recognize the fundamental problem with Oprah's confession of faith, listen to what

Joel said about former President Barack Obama. Well, I would tell them that I've been with the president at the

Easter breakfasts, not five feet away from him, heard him talk about his faith, talk about redemption, talk about salvation and, you know,

I just believe in all my heart that he's a Christian. He says he is. But when we consider what Obama has said about LGBTQ ending the life of pre -born children and even the

Bible itself, it should be abundantly clear that Obama is a Christian in name only and has not submitted his life to all that God has revealed in Scripture.

Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is okay and that eating shellfish is an abomination?

Or we could go with Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith.

Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount, a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own defense department would survive its application.

Joel also believes that Mitt Romney, a Mormon, believes in the same Jesus that he does. Governor Romney, tell me how you see

Mormonism, his religion, and how you define it within the Christian community.

Well, you know, what I see about Governor Romney is that he says, I believe

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, he's raised from the dead, and, you know, he's my Savior. I see him as being a believer in Christ like me.

And that's enough for you? Yeah, that's enough for me. I mean, there's differences in all religion. I realize Mormonism is different from Christianity, but you know what, he's a man of faith and values, and to me, that's strong.

However, Joel is either ignorant or ignoring the foundational differences between Christianity and Mormonism.

Here's the problem. They are polytheists. They have millions of gods.

Just millions of them and more all the time. Every time Mormons have a baby, they potentiate another god.

So this is anything but Christian in its view of God. They have a

Christ who is another Jesus, and another Jesus is a way to preach another

Jesus and you get cursed. Joel has even endorsed and exalted Mariah Carey, who firmly supports cultural ideologies that are in opposition to Scripture by allowing her to participate in one of his

Easter services. Hi Lakewood community, I'm Mariah Carey, and I'm so glad I could join you this

Easter. We find ourselves in a unique time in history where we can't celebrate together in person, and I'm grateful that so many of us are staying home and staying safe.

Thank you so much to the LGBTQIA plus community for your support over the years and for all the love.

I love you so much back. Inclusion, funds, pride you're spreading tonight. Love you, love you, love you, love you, love you.

Joel not only endorses and partners with pastors and celebrities who stand against the true gospel that God has revealed in Scripture, but he himself also teaches many things that are contrary to Christianity.

In an interview with Larry King, here's Joel saying that non -Christians can be saved. Well, because we've had ministers on who said, your record don't count.

You either believe in Christ or you don't. If you believe in Christ, you are going to heaven. And if you don't, no matter what you've done in your life, you ain't.

Yeah, I don't know. There's probably a balance between I believe you have to know Christ, but I think that if you know

Christ, if you're a believer in God, you're going to have some good works. And I think it's a cop out to say, well,

I'm a Christian, but I don't ever do anything to help anybody. What if you're Jewish or Muslim and you don't accept Christ at all?

You know, I just, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know. I think only God. But you believe you have to believe in Christ.

I believe. They're wrong, aren't they? Well, I don't know if I believe they're wrong. I believe here's what the Bible teaches and from the

Christian faith, this is what I believe. But I just think that only God can judge a person's heart. I've spent a lot of time in India with my father.

And, you know, I don't know all about their religion, but I know they love God. And I don't know, I'd have to, you know,

I've seen their sincerity. So I don't know. Whenever Joel is asked about controversial issues, instead of unashamedly teaching what

Scripture clearly teaches, he attempts to avoid the question and says that he doesn't focus on things like that and tries to stay in his lane, which is basically just being a positive life coach.

And I always wonder when you are, you say homosexuality is a sin and there's a bunch of people who clearly are gay who are in your church, you're calling them sinners.

I mean, that's the opposite of uplifting. It does, but one, I don't necessarily focus on that.

I only talk about that on the interviews. Well, you know, I think I have an important voice, but I'm very,

I think I've been good. I think part of my, if you want to call it success, is I've stayed in my lane and my lane is lifting people's spirits.

And there are issues that good Bible -believing people see on both sides of the fence. Like an issue like gay marriage, people look to the ministers for leadership.

Is that an issue that's for you against the rules? You know, it would be, but Mark, I don't really focus on a lot of those things.

I try to stay in my lane of what I feel called to do. That does come up in interviews and things, but just don't feel like that.

That's not my core message. My core message is how do you have a healthy self -image? How do you let go of the past?

How do you raise good children? How do you reach your dreams? And so, I mean, our message, if you listen to my message, they're about lifting people up.

And so it's not, I mean, I really talk about the homosexuality when we get on the interviews. Most of the time, Joel eventually gets around to saying that relationships between members of the same sex are sin, even if he does say it apologetically.

However, in this interview with Oprah, Joel says something extremely unbiblical. We, maybe the Christian community, makes a bigger deal out of being gay.

Will a gay person be accepted into heaven as you see it? Well, I believe they will. However, Joel does not qualify what he says with the

Bible's teaching that people who are accepted into heaven by God are people who have been born again or transformed by God and who have repented and turned away from their sin.

And here's Joel teaching something absolutely shocking about sin and human nature. In dealing with people for several years, thousands of people, one thing

I can tell you is 99 .9 % of people are not bad people.

They may make poor choices, but deep down, they've got a good heart. They want to do what's right.

Joel Osteen says that one thing he can assure us is that 99 .9 % of people are not bad people.

Well, what does the Bible have to say about this? The Apostle Paul seems to think differently.

He says, there is none righteous, not even one. There is none who does good.

No, not one. Friends, 99 .9

% of people are not good people. 100 % of people are bad people.

And here is Joel teaching heretical word of faith doctrine. Words are like seeds. When you speak something out, you give life to what you're saying.

If you continue to say it, eventually, that can become a reality. Whether you realize it or not, you are prophesying your future.

That's not just being positive. You are prophesying victory, prophesying success, prophesying new levels.

Your life will move in the direction of your words. They all claim that every so -called

Christian has the personal power to recreate life's reality into exactly what he wants. The only thing they add is they throw the name of Jesus in.

And Jesus is just waiting to be activated by you knowing what you want, believing that you're going to get it, visualizing it, and speaking it.

It's a very successful Ponzi scheme. These people are really, really good at what they do. And they take most advantage of the desperate and the lonely and the isolated and the ignorant.

Joel also chooses to pretty much never teach about hell. You've been criticized for church light.

Yeah, that's right. For a cotton candy message. Do you feel like you're cheating people by not telling them about the hell part?

No, I really don't, because it's a different approach. You know, it's not hellfire and brimstone, but I say most people are beaten down enough by life.

They already feel guilty enough. They're not doing what they should do, raising their kids. You know, we can all find reasons. So I want them to come to Lakewood or our meetings and be lifted up to say, you know what,

I may not be perfect, but I'm moving forward. I'm doing better, and I think that motivates you to do better.

Certainly in general, in the church, it is looked over, passed by, ignored.

There are those who claim to be preachers who don't ever talk about hell, wouldn't talk about hell, avoid it at all costs, when the truth of the matter is, it ought to be the first thing that we talk about when we talk about the gospel.

This is about salvation from hell. Joel works pretty hard to try to divert people's attention away from his wealth, and it seems

Joel doesn't receive a salary from Lakewood Church, and that he makes most of his money from book sales and things like that.

However, it remains that Joel has earned his wealth from deceiving people with a false gospel of positive thinking that does not save.

Joel Osteen lives in a $10 .5 million mansion in Houston, Texas. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a nice place to live.

When your wealth is gained off of distorting the gospel of Jesus Christ, there's a lot wrong with that.

And Joel Osteen does not apologize for his wealth. Do you make any apologies for your grand piano?

I really don't, Oprah. We just feel like this is God's blessings. And because of Joel's immense fame and success, there are many other megachurch pastors and aspiring megachurch pastors who are copying

Joel's style of ministry, pretty much doing the exact unbiblical thing as Joel. Here's Elevation Church pastor

Stephen Furtick talking about Joel's influence upon his ministry. I did want to take a moment and just honor

Pastor Joel and Victoria again to say thank you for letting me stand here and preach.

Yeah, I didn't tell you this, but I actually came out here like one year into our church, maybe a year and a half into our church.

And I guess it was like a roundtable thing that they had set up for pastors.

I got to sneak up here and make a little video for our church. And it's just getting started.

And I made a video of this place and talked to our church and said, if God can do it there, what could he do in our city?

And I wanted to just report to you, you know, I remember our church cheering for that, but it was kind of hard to imagine.

And since that time, we've seen like over 20 ,000 people come to Christ in the church.

But I want to thank you for inspiring that vision for us. And it's pretty cool what you help us imagine.

So thanks. You kind of blow all of our minds and then we dream bigger for God.

Keep in mind that when we hear these impressive sounding numbers from people like Joel Osteen and Stephen Furtick, they are talking about people who are coming to their version of Christ.

And they have likely not heard preaching about the seriousness of sin and the reality of God's wrath and hell, which means they are missing a large part of the true gospel.

When the numbers start to dwindle and you see Smiling Joel on TV preaching to a stadium filled with people, do

I really have to preach all of this? Do I really have to preach it this hard? There is also

Joseph Prince, pastor of the megachurch New Creation Church, who basically exposes what both Joel and he himself believes about repentance.

You know, the word repentance, like Joel said, is from the Greek word metanoia, which literally means change your mind.

And every time like Joel or me preaching the word without using the word repentance sometimes, but people's minds are being changed all the time from thinking this way negatively to thinking positively, from depression to having a positive expectation of good.

You know, repentance is going on all the time in Joel's church, in my church, and hopefully in your church as well. And you don't have to have this breath -breathing shout,

Oh, Jesus, Jesus. You can come down to the altar call and cry your eyeballs out and go away the same.

Prince says that repentance can simply mean changing your mind from thinking negatively to thinking positively. However, that is not at all what repentance is.

You see, repentance, when it is portrayed in the Bible, we have all these characteristics of what genuine biblical repentance is.

When a person comes to Christ, we can't expect them to have a full -blown mature repentance.

They will have the kernels of repenting. They will be understanding something of their sin. They will be broken over their sin to a certain degree.

But even after they're saved, they're going to grow in repentance. Their repentance is going to become deeper. In contrast to the worldly, unbiblical, and man -centered quote -unquote gospel that Joel Osteen preaches, let us, as Christians, remember that the true gospel involves sin, repentance, and faith alone in the biblical

Jesus alone. All we like sheep had gone astray. Each of us had turned to his own way, but God laid upon him the iniquity of us all.

And Christ died for sin, once for all, the just for the unjust. And God imputes our sinfulness to him.

And he nails our sinfulness to the tree. And Christ dies and raises again on the third day for our justification.

And there's another imputation. The righteousness of Christ is actually imputed to us so that God can be both just and the justifier of the one who places faith in Jesus Christ.

So that all those who come to Christ may enter in. So that all those who place faith in Christ might be saved.

But not only saved, but sanctified. Because he's the firstborn of many brethren.

We're justified and we're adopted into the family of God. And we're sanctified.

And as his children, we begin to bear the family resemblance. And we're further sanctified throughout this life by the very same gospel that saves us.

Until one day when it's all said and done. We're not just saved from the penalty of sin.

We're not just saved from the power of sin. But one day we're glorified and saved from the very presence of sin.

That's the gospel that we preach. That's the gospel that we need. And that's the gospel that's more than enough.
