Live chat. Thank you so much for tuning in. Wanted to give y 'all a little bit of update. I have this studio that's gonna allow me hopefully to produce more content. My wife has been so gracious to let me set this up in her home and the the infamous Nathan Hargrave who serves with me at 12 church.

He's the one that helped me set all this up. So thank you pastor Nathan. I guess if since I've not been around in a couple months I think it's been early December. The apologetic dog is an apologetics ministry and if you find the logo somewhere you'll see first Timothy 620 where Paul is telling Timothy to guard the gospel deposit that's been entrusted to you and he says to Timothy do this by avoiding pagan philosophy this babbling that pagans quarrel about words and just make up their own definitions and guard against contradictions that falsely call themselves knowledge.

How do we get knowledge. How do we get truth. Well no none other than the Word of God. So thank you for tuning in to the apologetic dog. I have a lot of different aspirations and desires with this program but it's mainly to contend for the gospel of grace and so I love getting into all different kinds of doctrine.

Upcoming Conference on Why Calvinism and a Pre-Conference on Hyperpreterism

Like I said I got some announcements that I'd really love to share with y 'all in just a couple days I will be speaking at a conference called why Calvinism and me and dr. Sam Frost will be speaking at the pre-conference.

So I want to tell you a little bit about that but I have to check the side chat. I don't do all of these these live chats like Anthony Rogers and Donnie and standing for truth. What's up people. Hey layman seminary.

The pre-conference with me and dr. Sam Frost will be this coming Wednesday in Tullahoma Tennessee. You you would think I would know exactly where the location at is that. I do not. I believe it's at Jeffrey Rice's church.

I'll be there. I'll be there early so I don't miss my my time to speak but dr. Frost will go first. He's going to be giving an hour presentation on basically just a primer to hyperpreterism. And Anthony if you're still in the chat I think you called this Pantel ism.

You have to remind me what you called hyperpreterism or we. It's been called covenant eschatology but the the full preterist view that says all of prophecy has been fulfilled by 70 ad 70 ad 70 ad the structure of the temple Flavius Josephus 70 ad.

So that's essentially okay. You you like the mic. Donnie am I coming through. Okay. Looks great. Sounds great. Thanks Anthony. Anthony I'm hoping to model a little bit after you. Man you are a beast and I do not know how you do for our live streams.

Just saying Anthony I was on your live stream with you a while back and I remember we were coming up on the three-hour mark and my back was hurting and so at least with this setup I have a nice chair these days I'm not at the church building sitting on a stool.

Yeah let me as I'm introducing y 'all hey we do this on the fly so definitely a Johnny Mac fan. These are. I got all of Johnny Mac's New Testament commentaries and I have to always consult the Johnny Mac even though Anthony I am no longer a dispensationalist I am full-fledged covenant theologian but it's not the Presbyterian kind me.

And you may have to have a episode Anthony on what is the differences between the covenant of works and the covenant of grace. But anyway a little bit of aesthetic going on here I like looking at that.

But anyway with me and dr. frost when we are doing this pre-conference we're gonna be talking about the dangers of hyperpreterism and he'll kind of begin with giving a primer what it looks like he actually was in that movement for about a decade and so I think he wants to share a little bit about his personal life in that what that looked like and what ultimately led him out and I think he's gonna be talking about the things to be aware of.

So he'll give a presentation for about an hour and then yours truly will come on to the scene. And so my hope with the pre-conference with the talk about the dangers of hyperpreterism is I kind of want to do an exegetical approach to how we can expose for preterism.

And so we'll be doing a deep dive into first Corinthians 15 about the resurrection the dead but also what's baked into first Corinthians 15 is we actually see the parisia when Christ will return and it's gonna be when the last enemy to be destroyed is death.

And so a lot of my presentation will center in around what death is. Is it merely spiritual that happened in the past or is it much more than that of what the scriptures called the death. So you don't want to miss that flow over to open-air theology with Jeffrey Rice.

Sometimes I'll say Jeffrey Johnson my bad I'm really good friends. I hope to be really good friends with Jeffrey Johnson. We've corresponded out he's let me interview him once especially from the Reformed Baptist perspective and he is the president of Grace Bible Theological Seminary just down the road for me.

So maybe one day I can be a student over there so pray for me in that. So with this pre-conference that'll be kind of day one for it'll just mainly be me and dr. frost. And then I believe we're gonna be doing an hour question answer panel and I don't know if this is going to be live stream for y 'all in the side chat.

Sorry Donnie Anthony Christian I don't know how in the world y 'all keep up with the side chat. Oh we got Tim Tant in the building too. And we have a number of y 'all thank y 'all for tuning in the Reformed Berean.

Always have to listen to Anthony. Oh yeah I always have to listen to Anthony too on times two though. So I don't know how y 'all keep up with the live chat. You'll have to forgive me. Just spam. Oh oh miles tell me the wrong kind of.

Thanks babe babe of all babes. So that's the pre-conference this coming Wednesday. Pumped. I went through my presentation probably ten times. Can't wait I even have a handout. So then we have the actual conference and that will be Thursday Friday and Saturday.

My computer dinged. I'm not sure if it's anything important now. What's incredible is if you've been see if you've been seeing me advertise the why Calvinism conference there is a new figure in the hair in the bottom right corner and it's me.

So I gotta tell you a little bit how this came about. So probably a year ago I was talking with my boy Jeffrey Rice and he reached out to me after seeing my debate with Brock Kendall at ASU. We flew Marlin from the gospel truth down to moderate our debate and Jeffrey Rice was like hit me up about Church of Christ theology and you know you know why why are they so prevalent in our areas his area in Tennessee and Jonesboro and what are the best ways to combat that.

And so we talked strategy and we started talking about life ministry and just the wonderful blessings that God has just done in in our lives. And so with that Jeffrey was like hey I'm gonna be doing conferences in the future.

Would you like to be a part of it. And I was like well yeah absolutely I would. And so he already kind of had these guys booked for all these different categories for why Calvinism really taking the sovereignty of God and Calvinism the doctrines of grace and applying it in many different spheres of life and so and so Tom Buck unfortunately is not able to make it to the conference.

And then Jeffrey Rice was like Jeremiah can the apologetic dog fill in to to take Tom Buck's place. And I'm like yes he didn't see me on the other end I was doing one of these and I said absolutely I'd love to and so I've had about a week week and a half to prepare.

I'm not making excuses I promise but I'll be speaking at why Calvinism and we're gonna be filming a documentary which I'm really excited about just getting to talk more about why Calvinism matters and is it one of those things where you can just say ah it doesn't really matter.

I can kind of pick a few of the points of Calvinism pick a few of the points of Arminianism and live my life comfortably. Well you can. But we want to be consistent and more than even being consistent we want to be faithful to the Word of God because we know truth doesn't contradict itself.

I'm hearing dings. I don't know if that let's see. I gotta check my live chat cuz I don't know how y 'all do this. When will you be doing another debate. Let's see. I'll put that real quick on the screen.

Thank you for asking this fantastic question. I have a program called Ecamm live so I'm not real sure. Bear with me. I'll figure out how to get the comments big and everything. Great question but you're gonna have to hold on because I do have one coming up in a couple months but you have to wait.

I'm gonna talk about a few announcements that I have and I cannot wait to tell you about the next debate the next bullet in the chamber. So thank you for asking me that question. So with the conference I'm taking Tom Buck's place and I'm getting to speak on Calvinism in tribulation and so I don't.

I've been studying this pretty in depth over the past few days. You can ask my wife she's had to sacrifice her time to allow me go to the church and make preparation. Thanks babe. But anyway if you are interested this will be in Tullahoma Tennessee.

I believe the address is there. We've been posting this like crazy. We're gonna have Keith Foskey in a little bit of superior superior theology. Miles. Christian Anthony Rogers that is the Presbyterian theology.

You're welcome. Superior theology. We hand it over to the Presbyterians. But give us some time. We're still reforming. And Keith Foskey I believe he is also known as was it. Is it the Lord or it's the king of all millennialism.

He's kind of though he's the off-brand of Doug Wilson I believe. So I'm looking forward to getting to know Keith Foskey. And as you can see none other none other than the dr. white. He's gonna be speaking.

I can't remember exactly the day he's speaking on but the last event of the conference he will be debating a non Calvinist I believe on the atonement. So Tim Tant if you're still in the chat you might remember.

Ah Tim you still are here. There's any reason biblically to suggest that. Man y 'all talking about the thief on the cross. What's up Marlon. Marlon me figure out how to put you up in here. Man it disappeared.

I do not know what happened. Let me try that again. So Marlon Wilson is fantastic friend of mine. We like to chop it up. I'll call him up and be like man. Why are you getting so much trouble on Twitter social media calling dudes out for the heresy.

And man sometimes we just got a debrief. So Marlon you are brother. Thanks so much for letting me debate on your channel. I think one of the last debates we did was it the the Anabaptist fellow. I can't remember his name but that was fun.

He did not like me a whole lot. And one of my mutual friends with the gentleman I debated. I remember he told him that he felt like he wasted three months of his study debating me. But you know what with debates.

And I know Anthony knows what this is like. And Donnie stepping in that debate dojo you know we we contend for the truth and we trust God ultimately. And Marlon I know that's your heart as well. You're putting out that content and all you other wonderful men and women out there that are putting out content and trusting God with it.

And so that's ultimately the aim of my channel as well. Thanks for tuning in Marlon. This is my first live stream and I don't have the fish bone with me. Trey Fisher. We he is building a studio also in my goodness.

Where is he at Louisiana. Calhoun Louisiana. And it's looking great. So we're gonna be doing some content together as well and doing live streams. Gotta start pumping this out. I believe the YouTube algorithm really favors live streams.

But I can't do four-hour live streams like Anthony maybe one day don't know. And I tried to do this live on Facebook as well. And right when I hit the go button Facebook said I'm out. So even though I'm the apologetic dog sometimes I'll see a squirrel and chase chase squirrel.

That's okay. So back to the conference here. Let's see. Oh we have the slickest man of live that will be speaking Matt slick. So I'm looking forward to meeting him in person. And once again the last event in the conference will be dr. James White debating a non-Calvinist.

I believe on the atonement. Okay so I think I touched on all that. I'm really looking forward to the time of fellowship. Jeffrey Rice said that we have some really fun activities scheduled in between preaching.

We're gonna be singing hymns and in locations that will probably shock of the world. So I'm looking forward to getting to hang out with everybody. Let's see. Ah love the live stream thingy. That is how I feel about it also.

Sparky. I haven't got it all figured out but I hope to crank out some more of these over time. And so Sparky I'm glad you tuned in because my next announcement is I plan to do an interview with Lee and Ferguson soon.

We don't have a date. Sparky please forgive me. But we are trying to nail down a time in maybe the next week or two. Really want to try to work with Trey's schedule real quick. So this book is called Christ rescued me from the Church of Christ.

Hey guess what. She gave me the hookup. This is a fantastic book. Lee in came out of the Church of Christ movement the restorationist movement the the Campbellites ultimately as we know them historically they believe that all of your sins are washed away your past sins the moment that your body comes in contact with the water in the the ceremony of baptism.

And so the Church of Christ are all over the place in Jonesboro. And the apologetic dog has an emphasis you've probably noticed I have two emphasis it's been on full preterism these days and also the Church of Christ now.

I've had a lot of people email me from all over the world and message me on Facebook. A lot of people are asking why. Why are the Church of Christ in my opinion viewed as a cult and have deviated from the gospel of grace.

Well it's a number of things the Church of Christ I believe teach a works righteousness gospel and they that begins with a baptism. If you don't get wet if you do not enter into the watery graves of baptism to come in contact with the blood then you're damned and going to hell and so we can get into defining what works are biblically.

Guess what. It's everything you do. It's everything you get up you walk around any type of tasks that you're trying to be obedient to or you're going about your everyday life. Those are works or gods of mine in the Greek is as general as you could possibly think and they know this so they always have to appeal to.

Well we're not justified by works the flesh or we're not justified by works the law or meritorious works. And so I try to heavily emphasize look the the common three theme throughout all the scripture that was prophesied in the Old Testament that we see in the Gospels preached by Jesus in acts in the Pauline epistles is that the gospel is one of God's grace that he accomplished at Calvary meaning that salvation was accomplished by the works of Jesus Christ not our works.

And so I believe the Church of Christ add the ceremonial work of baptism. And I've got in trouble with my Lutheran friends and my Anglican friends as well. I actually see them. It's case-by-case I'll admit but as being within the fold.

But baptismal regeneration kind of comes into the picture and I just try to say look you can't contain the Holy Spirit. And if I call baptism a work I'm not saying that we are doing something to try to gain favor with God.

No we have a strong distinction between law and gospel. And if if baptism is a sanctifying work then it's gospel because we've already been justified we're living our life to the praise of his glorious grace.

But we still are created unto good works and that's where baptism comes in. So when the Church of Christ make baptism a part of our justification you are embracing a different Christ. You have now committed the Galatian one heresy and you're severed from Christ.

And so Leanne's book her journey is incredible because she knows all the lingo and when I was reading it I'm like I feel like man this this lady share a brain because we understand all of the the features that Roman or that the Church of Christ.

I don't want to say inherited but they're just a lighter version of Roman Catholicism. So I put that on hold for a second. See what's going on in the live chat here. Let's see. Love the book. Would love to watch an interview.

Let me show you all the comment I'm talking about here. Appreciate it. Stephen Reeves excellent book. I honestly couldn't put it down. I read the book probably just a handful of days and I'm bragging a little bit.

Yes it's a sacrament a sanctifying means of grace. I'm just kidding. But we do it every Sunday. We get to do this together. And then at 12 5 we do koinonia feast. Every Sunday we have so much food for lunch.

Maybe that's a little bit of our Baptist coming out. It's basically a potluck. But every Sunday we get to share a meal in koinonia fellowship and then afterwards I don't know if Anthony Rogers is still in the building you'll really like this.

We actually do a sermon Q &A a sermon discussion and most most of the whole church stays for that and it's just awesome. So to quote Steve Lawson it's not the Lord's hour. It's the Lord is day at 12 5 church.

So anyway oh oh I want to take a moment here. Matthew Broderick. I want to say some nice things about Matthew here. Matthew maybe I can call him a friend. We debated on Marlon's channel goodness maybe three years ago.

Matthew still in the chat. What what was. Our proposition was Mary sinless. And so Matthew we have a love-hate relationship. The hate comes with all the the fiery comments that we have for one another.

Okay. Marlon is saying Jeremy I got that Johnny Mac commentary set up. Oh yeah I got all the new tests. I always consult old Johnny Mac even though Marlon I'm not dispensational. I've embraced the world of 1689 federalism so even dr. white doesn't scribe to all of the terminology there but I am I'm learning.

Debate with Mike Haisol on Baptism and Justification

So my last debate er well this is the thing with live streams when I make word blunders all the time but they have to stick. My next announcement is a debate so I will be doing a debate with Mike hi saw and so I gotta make sure I say the date right.

It'll be April 5th at 12 5 church live and in person Marlon if we had a bigger budget we fly you back out or you know what I'd love to do. I'd like to fly. Marlon and Donnie was standing for truth out and y 'all could be co-moderators maybe of a debate one time in the future when they be awesome.

But Donnie's from Canada a so that would that that plane ticket would be pretty costly. So anyway I'm looking forward to this debate. Let me see here. Mike I saw very professional he is a gentleman and so when when he reached out to me he said Jeremiah.

I would like to debate on the same proposition that you debated Gavin James on when I debated on standing for truth Marlon or Donnie's channel. I believe the proposition was is does baptism justify us before God.

No does baptism justifies before God. I could be getting the proposition wrong but in that debate one of my major arguments was showing that baptism does not justify us because we are justified by faith.

And so I believe once you have a really good understanding what faith is then you can see what baptism and what Ergon baptism looks like in connection with faith but always holding a distinction. So anyway I just encourage you go check out my debate with Gavin James.

I'm gonna get this right. Are we justified. Man. I'm have to look at my notes but I'm not gonna do that to y 'all but we're gonna be debating about when when is the point of justification and is that in our baptism.

And so the reason why I'm really looking forward to this debate is because Mike watched my debate with Gavin and said hey you know I want to crack at this and I respect that anybody that's willing to share their convictions I have respect for and I want to be able to do it in a loving way.

I believe it's Ephesians 415 where the Apostle Paul says speak the truth in love. And so that's gonna be my aim with mr. high salt and we're gonna be talking about baptism and no doubt getting into all the proof text.

So I'll be looking out for that debate April 5th at 12 5 church in Jonesboro Arkansas. I believe that's a Friday probably starting at 6 p .m. So what are y 'all saying over here. Oh Marla how you gonna do this to me.

I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it for the Graham that died. So I guess I got to do it for the live stream. What's my thought on hashtag bail gate. Unfortunately I know exactly what that means Warren McGrew.

I I have so I have actually a little bit of respect for Warren. I think the respect I have comes from him being very knowledgeable. You got to hand it to the man that that dude is a critic of Calvinism.

Total depravity seems to kind of be his specialty. He's a critical thinker and I like that and I'm gonna say it don't hate me but I have a level of respect for Layton flowers and he may be at the conference coming up here in just a couple days and I would love to meet him.

I he has made so many points asked so many questions that have caused me to just step back and think about what's being said. And the same thing for Warren McGrew. So I gotta say the nice things before I tell how I truly feel I Marlon I think is very unfortunate how Warren started framing Calvinist being like I don't know if it was Molech worshippers but having the same vibes or energy as those that you know those that are saying look when our confessions say that God will save the elect infants that's what the confession since we affirm the sovereignty of God but we also affirm that he's the just judge of the earth to always do right.

So as far as I know our reform heritage doesn't make a dogmatic case that there absolutely must be you know something called infant damnation and so we just say we trust God in those. Yes there are verses all throughout scripture Jesus says for such these little children are the kingdom of God and so we look at those and say hey we trust the character of God.

But Marlon I think I think it was unfair what Warren did. I will say it seems consistent with his character and he definitely tries to ruffle feathers unnecessarily. And so I really appreciated you and dr. White saying this is uncharitable.

Sure. Maybe they were trying to take Calvinism to a you know logical conclusion. It just does not follow in any way shape or form that when we are trusting God with the salvation of our infants that means the the means that God was ordained is the parents of children praying night in day after day for their salvation.

I'll be the first to say almost every night I am praying for a baby JJ the apologetic puppy that God would take out that heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh. And so I watched you talk about it Marlon.

And I resonate with you as a parent just like man I don't like it when I get told yeah. Because if you're theological convictions of the absolute sovereignty of God you're basically like a bail worshiper or a molek.

You have the same energy as those people that offer their children tomorrow it to me it was unfair. So how was that. Did I answer your question Marlon. Pretty good. Oh he said dinner's ready. Yeah I did tell her I would try to do about 30 minutes or so but I was having so much fun.

I think his biggest problem because what what does dr. white call him story time with uncle flowers or something like that. I think the biggest critique I have for dr. flowers is he a doctor. I don't know if I gave him too much credit there but if he is props is when he gives analogies of God in his sovereignty.

I call it the prop that the fallacy of unification. He is bringing God down and elevating man. And so when he talks about contra causal free will I believe he's saying God has this level of free will and so does man.

And so by you saying that man and God univocally have free will. Well that's going to cause all sorts of problems because we are the creatures and he is the creator. And you can never blur those lines or say that there's a true touching point where we share something with God univocally.

You can't do it. We are image bearers that reflect him. So I feel you there truth defenders. There are some cringy moments where I hear uncle Layton or the flower patch kid himself but I believe it's all in.

I want to say good fun but to me I'm charitable towards provisionism Southern Baptist they are brothers in Christ. We believe the same gospel and so I think we can continue to sharpen one another. And back to Marlon's credit.

I want to try to encourage people away from the the criticisms that are just unwarranted. I'm trying to take a theological system and take it to its logical ends. You got to be careful doing that because those logical conclusions sometimes you don't say they're a conclusion and you just say this is what you believe this is what you should believe.

I know a K really just wants to grill me on his channel after our debate but it's all good. A K is one of those individuals I have a lot of respect for a K. You're a critical thinker and like I said you you post challenging questions make really good points.

And something else at the apologetic dog is I don't want to give off the impression that I know everything and so sometimes in debates I may really speak confidently and passionately and I think that's just adrenaline.

I'm a preacher at heart and so I'm going to declare things and as Johnny Mac says that that preaching is as a way to just elevate your voice even though he's not doing that these last couple years still miss Johnny Mac.

Being able to travel and preach a whole lot like I said got a lot of respect for old Johnny Mac over here. So a K I look forward to doing some content with you. I know if you want to say anything else out there.
