I think it's been early December. The Apologetic Dog is an apologetics ministry, and if you find the logo somewhere, you'll see

First Timothy 620, where Paul is telling Timothy to guard the gospel deposit that's been entrusted to you.

And he says to Timothy, do this by avoiding pagan philosophy, this babbling that pagans quarrel about words and just make up their own definitions, and guard against contradictions that falsely call themselves knowledge.

How do we get knowledge? How do we get truth? Well, none other than the word of God. So thank you for tuning in to the

Apologetic Dog. I have a lot of different aspirations and desires with this program, but it's mainly to contend for the gospel of grace, and so I love getting into all different kinds of doctrine.

Anthony, I'm hoping to model a little bit after you, man. You are a beast and I do not know how you do four hour live streams.

Just saying. Anthony, I was on your live stream with you a while back and I remember we were coming up on the three hour mark and my back was hurting.

And so at least with this setup, I have a nice chair these days. I'm not at the church building sitting on a stool.

Yeah, let me, as I'm introducing y 'all, hey, we do this on the fly. So definitely a

Johnny Mac fan. These are, I got all of Johnny Mac's New Testament commentaries. And I have to always consult the

Johnny Mac. Even though, Anthony, I am no longer a dispensationalist.

I am full -fledged covenant theologian, but it's not the

Presbyterian kind. Me and you may have to have a episode, Anthony, on what is the differences between the covenant of works and the covenant of grace.

But anyway, a little bit of aesthetic going on here. I like looking at that. But anyway, with me and Dr.

Frost, when we are doing this pre -conference, we're gonna be talking about the dangers of hyperpreterism.

And he'll kind of begin with giving a primer what it looks like. He actually was in that movement for about a decade.

And so I think he wants to share a little bit about his personal life in that, what that looked like and what ultimately led him out.

And I think he's gonna be talking about the things to be aware of. So he'll give a presentation for about an hour, and then yours truly will come onto the scene.

And so my hope with the pre -conference, with the talk about the dangers of hyperpreterism, is

I kind of want to do an exegetical approach to how we can expose full preterism.

And so we'll be doing a deep dive into 1 Corinthians 15 about the resurrection of the dead, but also what's baked into 1

Corinthians 15 is we actually see the parousia, when Christ will return.

And it's gonna be when the last enemy to be destroyed is death. And so a lot of my presentation will center in around what death is.

Is it merely spiritual that happened in the past? Or is it much more than that, of what the scriptures called the death?

So you don't want to miss that. Flow over to Open Air Theology with Jeffrey Rice.

Sometimes I'll say Jeffrey Johnson. My bad. I'm really good friends. I hope to be really good friends with Jeffrey Johnson.

We've corresponded. He's let me interview him once, especially from the Reformed Baptist perspective.

And he is the president of Grace Bible Theological Seminary just down the road from me.

So maybe one day I can be a student over there. So pray for me in that. So with this pre -conference, that'll be kind of day one for, it'll just mainly be me and Dr.

Wednesday. Pumped. I went through my presentation probably 10 times. Can't wait.

I even have a handout. Ha ha. So then we have the actual conference and that will be

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. My computer dinged. I'm not sure if it's anything important.

Now what's incredible is if you've been seeing me advertise the Why Calvinism Conference, there is a new figure in the bottom right corner and it's me.

So I gotta tell you a little bit of how this came about. So probably a year ago,

I was talking with my boy, Jeffrey Rice, and he reached out to me after seeing my debate with Brock Kendall at ASU.

We flew Marlon from the Gospel Truth down to moderate our debate and Jeffrey Rice was like, hit me up about Church of Christ theology and why are they so prevalent in our areas, his area in Tennessee and Jonesboro, and what are the best ways to combat that.

And so we talked strategy and we started talking about life, ministry, and just the wonderful blessings that God has just done in our lives.

And so with that, Jeffrey was like, hey, I'm gonna be doing conferences in the future. Would you like to be a part of it?

And I was like, well yeah, absolutely I would. And so he already kinda had these guys booked for all these different categories for Why Calvinism, really taking the sovereignty of God and Calvinism, the doctrines of grace, and applying it in many different spheres of life.

And so Tom Buck, unfortunately, is not able to make it to the conference.

And then Jeffrey Rice was like, Jeremiah, can the apologetic dog fill in to take

Tom Buck's place? And I'm like, yes, he didn't see me on the other end, but I was doing one of these. And I said, absolutely,

I'd love to. And so I've had about a week, week and a half to prepare. I'm not making excuses,

I promise. But I'll be speaking at Why Calvinism, and we're gonna be filming a documentary, which

I'm really excited about, just getting to talk more about why Calvinism matters. And is it one of those things where you can just say, ah, it doesn't really matter.

I can kind of pick a few of the points of Calvinism, pick a few of the points of Arminianism, and live my life comfortably.

Well, you can, but we wanna be consistent. And more than even being consistent, we want to be faithful to the word of God, because we know truth doesn't contradict itself.

I think one of the last debates we did, was it the Anabaptist fellow?

I can't remember his name, but that was fun. He did not like me a whole lot, and one of my mutual friends with the gentleman

I debated, I remember he told him that he felt like he wasted three months of his study debating me, but you know what, with debates, and I know

Anthony knows what this is like, and Donnie, stepping in that debate dojo, you know, we contend for the truth, and we trust

God, ultimately. And Marlon, I know that's your heart as well. You're putting out that content, and all you other wonderful men and women out there that are putting out content and trusting

God with it. And so that's ultimately the aim of my channel as well. Thanks for tuning in, Marlon. This is my first, once again, this is my first live stream, and I don't have the fish bone with me,

Trey Fisher. He is building a studio also in, my goodness, where's he at?

Louisiana, Calhoun, Louisiana, and it's looking great. So we're gonna be doing some content together as well, and doing live streams.

We gotta start pumping this out. I believe the YouTube algorithm really favors live streams, but I can't do four -hour live streams like Anthony.

Maybe one day, don't know. And I tried to do this live on Facebook as well, and right when I hit the go button,

Facebook said, I'm out. So even though I'm the apologetic dog, sometimes I'll see a squirrel and chase squirrel.

That's okay. So back to the conference here. Let's see, oh, we have the slickest man of live that will be speaking,

Matt Slick. So I'm looking forward to meeting him in person. And once again, the last event in the conference will be

Dr. James White debating a non -Calvinist, I believe, on the atonement. Okay, so I think

I touched on all that. I'm really looking forward to the time of fellowship. Jeffrey Rice said that we have some really fun activities scheduled in between preaching.

We're gonna be singing hymns in locations that will probably shock the world.

That is how I feel about it also, Sparky. I haven't got it all figured out, but I hope to crank out some more of these over time.

Really wanna try to work with Trey's schedule. Real quick, so this book is called

Christ Rescued Me from the Church of Christ. Hey, guess what? She gave me the hookup. This is a fantastic book.

Lee Ann came out of the Church of Christ movement, the restorationist movement. The Campbellites, ultimately, as we know them historically, they believe that all of your sins are washed away, your past sins, the moment that your body comes in contact with the water in the ceremony of baptism.

And so the Church of Christ are all over the place in Jonesboro, and the apologetic dog has an emphasis.

You've probably noticed I have two emphases. It's been on full preterism these days, and also the

Church of Christ. Now, I've had a lot of people email me from all over the world and message me on Facebook.

A lot of people are asking why. Why are the Church of Christ, in my opinion, viewed as a cult and have deviated from the gospel of grace?

Well, it's a number of things. The Church of Christ, I believe, teach a works righteousness gospel.

And that begins with baptism. If you don't get wet, if you do not enter into the watery graves of baptism to come in contact with the blood, then you're damned and going to hell.

And so we can get into defining what works are biblically. Guess what, it's everything you do.

It's everything you get up, you walk around, any type of tasks that you're trying to be obedient to, or you're just going about your everyday life.

Those are works, or gods of mine, in the Greek is as general as you could possibly think.

And they know this, so they always have to appeal to, well, we're not justified by works of the flesh, or we're not justified by works of the law, or meritorious works.

And so I try to heavily emphasize, look, the common theme throughout all of scripture that was prophesied in the

Old Testament that we see in the gospels preached by Jesus in Acts and the Pauline epistles is that the gospel is one of God's grace that he accomplished at Calvary, meaning that salvation was accomplished by the works of Jesus Christ, not our works.

And so I believe the Church of Christ add the ceremonial work of baptism.

And I've gotten in trouble with my Lutheran friends and my Anglican friends as well. I actually see them, it's case by case,

I'll admit, but as being within the fold, but baptismal regeneration kind of comes into the picture.

And I just try to say, look, you can't contain the Holy Spirit. And if I call baptism a work, I'm not saying that we are doing something to try to gain favor with God.

No, we have a strong distinction between law and gospel. And if baptism is a sanctifying work, then it's gospel because we've already been justified.

We're living our life to the praise of his glorious grace, but we still are created unto good works.

And that's where baptism comes in. So when the Church of Christ make baptism a part of our justification, you are embracing a different Christ.

You've now committed the Galatian one heresy and you're severed from Christ.

And so Leanne's book, her journey is incredible because she knows all the lingo.

And when I was reading it, I'm like, I feel like me and this lady share a brain because we understand all of the features that the

Church of Christ, I don't wanna say inherited, but they're just a lighter version of Roman Catholicism.

So let me put that on hold for a second, see what's going on in the live chat here. Let's see.

Q &A, a sermon discussion. And most of the whole church stays for that, and it's just awesome.

So to quote Steve Lawson, it's not the Lord's hour, it's the Lord's day at 12 .5

And so even Dr. White doesn't ascribe to all of the terminology there, but I am,

He is a gentleman. And so when he reached out to me, he said, Jeremiah, I would like to debate on the same proposition that you debated

Gavin James on when I debated on Standing For Truth, Marlon, or Donny's channel.

I believe the proposition was, does baptism justify us before God?

No, does baptism justify us before God? I could be getting the proposition wrong.

But in that debate, one of my major arguments was showing that baptism does not justify us because we are justified by faith.

And so I believe once you have a really good understanding of what faith is, then you can see what baptism and what ergon, baptism looks like in connection with faith, but always holding a distinction.

So anyway, I just wanna encourage you, go check out my debate with Gavin James. I'm gonna get this right.

Are we justified? Man, I'm gonna have to look at my notes, but I'm not gonna do that to y 'all. But we're gonna be debating about when is the point of justification, and is that in our baptism?

And so the reason why I'm really looking forward to this debate is because Mike watched my debate with Gavin and said, hey,

I wanna crack at this. And I respect that. Anybody that's willing to share their convictions,

I have respect for, and I wanna be able to do it in a loving way. I believe it's Ephesians 4 .15,

where the apostle Paul says, speak the truth in love. And so that's gonna be my aim with Mr.

Hysall. And we're gonna be talking about baptism, and no doubt getting into all the proof texts. So I'll be looking out for that debate

April 5th at 12 .5 Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I believe that's a

Friday, probably starting at 6 p .m. So what are y 'all saying over here? Oh!

Oh! Ha, ha, ha, ha! Marlin, how you gonna do this to me? I'm gonna do it.

What's my thought on hashtag Bailgate? Unfortunately, I know exactly what that means.

Ha, ha, ha. Warren McGrew. I have actually a little bit of respect for Warren.

I think the respect I have comes from him being very knowledgeable. You gotta hand it to the man.

That dude is a critic of Calvinism, total depravity seems to kind of be his specialty.

He's a critical thinker, and I like that. And I'm gonna say it, don't hate me, but I have a level of respect for Layton Flowers, and he may be at the conference coming up here in just a couple days, and I would love to meet him.

I, he has made so many points, asked so many questions that have caused me to just step back and think about what's being said.

And the same thing for Warren McGrew. So I gotta say the nice things before I tell how

I truly feel. Marlon, I think it's very unfortunate how

Warren started framing Calvinists being like, I don't know if it was

Molech worshipers, but having the same vibes or energy as those that are saying, look, when our confessions say that God will save the elect infants that's what the confession says.

We affirm the sovereignty of God, but we also affirm that he's the just judge of the earth to always do right.

So as far as I know, our reformed heritage doesn't make a dogmatic case that there absolutely must be something called infant damnation.

And so we just say, we trust God in those. Yes, there are verses all throughout scripture. Jesus says, for such these little children are the kingdom of God.

And so we look at those and say, hey, we trust the character of God. But Marlon, I think it was unfair what

Warren did. I will say it seems consistent with his character and he definitely tries to ruffle feathers unnecessarily.

And so I really appreciated you and Dr. White saying this is uncharitable.

Sure, maybe they were trying to take Calvinism to a logical conclusion. It just does not follow in any way, shape or form that when we are trusting

God with the salvation of our infants, that means that the means that God has ordained is the parents of children praying night and day after day for their salvation.

I'll be the first to say, almost every night I am praying for baby JJ, the apologetic puppy that God would take out that heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh.

And so I watched you talk about it, Marlon, and I resonated with you as a parent.

I'm just like, man, I don't like it when I get told, yeah, because of your theological convictions of the absolute sovereignty of God, you're basically like a

Baal worshiper or a Moloch. You have the same energy as those people that offer their children to Moloch.

It, to me, it was unfair. So how was that? Did I answer your question, Marlon? Pretty good?

Like I said, I have a level of respect. I think his biggest problem, because what does

Dr. White call him? Storytime with Uncle Flowers or something like that? I think the biggest critique

I have for Dr. Flowers, is he a doctor? I don't know if I gave him too much credit there, but if he is, perhaps, is when he gives analogies of God in his sovereignty,

I call it the fallacy of unification. He is bringing God down and elevating man.

And so when he talks about contra -causal free will, I believe he's saying God has this level of free will and so does man.

And so by you saying that man and God univocally have free will, well, that's going to cause all sorts of problems because we are the creatures and he is the creator.

And you can never blur those lines or say that there's a true touching point where we share something with God univocally.

You can't do it. We are image bearers that reflect him. So I feel you there,

Truth Defenders. There are some cringy moments where I hear Uncle Layton or the Flower Patch Kid himself, but I believe it's all in,

I want to say good fun, but to me, I'm charitable towards provisionism, Southern Baptists, they are brothers in Christ.

We believe the same gospel. And so I think we can continue to sharpen one another. And back to Marlon's credit,

I want to try to encourage people away from the criticisms that are just unwarranted.

I'm just trying to take a theological system and take it to its logical ends. But you got to be careful doing that because those logical conclusions, sometimes you don't say they're a conclusion and you just say, this is what you believe.

This is what you should believe. And hey, it makes us not want to be so charitable.

And as Johnny Mac says that preaching is a way to just elevate your voice. Even though he's not doing that these last couple years.

Still miss Johnny Mac being able to travel and preach a whole lot.

Adam Harkness is a great friend of mine and a member at 12 Five Church. Okay. Well, we had about 25 active viewers for the

Apologetic Dogs first live stream. And you gotta be gracious with me because I don't necessarily know what

I'm doing. I spent so much time trying to figure out how to set this up. And like I said, this is not just a flat wall.

These are two walls that have a corner directly behind me. So anyway, I'm really excited about this studio setup.

One of these days, I'm gonna get another camera and show you all the lights that you don't see in here because it's really cool.

I had no idea how much went into setting up a studio. I know Myles knows all that.

He's telling me all these formulas to how to set up lights. And Myles will be at the conference.

And so I can't wait. I hate that you can't make it to the pre -conference because I'm gonna be lighting up some hyper -preterism.

They need it. All 13 hyper -preterists, unfortunately, are in Arkansas and just right outside of Jonesboro.

And so I've had so many people ask me, Jeremiah, why is full -preterism a heresy? And I'm like, because they redefine our blessed hope.

They redefine the coming of Christ to have already happened in the past. And when you do that, then you make

Jesus' coming a spiritual coming. And what Don Preston and the rest of them do is they have to say where Jesus is now at the right hand of the

Father, He's not the God -man. He no longer has that human nature.

And so it redefines Christ. It redefines our blessed hope. And first, Corinthians chapter 15 talks about the essentials of the gospel.

And so they redefine everything, where it's no longer our future blessed hope, but it's a realized hope that happened in the past spiritually.

So Miles, I look forward to seeing you and Tim Tant and everybody else that can make it out to the conference coming up.

Adventism with Myles Christian. And so I just wanna continue to do my best, to show myself approved as somebody that not only handles the

Word of God well, but wants to package this in such a way that people appreciate the content.

And I've noticed that if you have a good aesthetic, if you have a good presentation, it allows people to actually hear better what you're saying, and they will stay tuned in longer.

So, yes, we're gonna be doing episodes. I think the title that we like the best is

Wifey Unchained. Y 'all ain't ready for that, Wifey Unchained.
