PresupU: Destroying Foundations

When I learned what a worldview is comprised of, it made my job as an apologist so much easier.

Okay. One of the intimidating factors of presupposition, uh, apologetics is that when you talk about atheism,

Jehovah's witness, Mormonism, Islam, uh, Hinduism, all these different religions, you think to yourself, well,

I, I can't learn all those things. Like how the heck am I going to learn everything there is to know about Mormonism and every random cult that's out there.

Now you can get a bunch of books like this and have some studies you can get somewhere. I mean, there's a lot to learn, but it's intimidating.

A lot of things you have to learn, but I, I have a shortcut. Okay. Every person that I talk to,

I only look for three things, just these three things. My entire laser focus is on these three things.

And my job is once I locate these three things and what they believe about these three things, my job is to take a giant wrecking ball and destroy the pet, the foundation.

Because once you destroy the foundation, it doesn't matter about all the other details about what they believe because everything they believe about all the details and the intricacies and the, how they interpret this and this, that, and the other thing, they're all predicated upon the truth of the foundations of their worldview, right?

You see, the classical apologists will fight the enemy by going into the fort and engaging in hand to hand combat, right?

He'll move to the side, he'll duck and he'll throw a punch and get them in a move. And you know, and you could, you know, you've seen the

Bruce Lee movies. It's pretty effective. You know, got one guy going there, you know enough martial arts, you know, you throw a couple of kicks, a couple of arguments, you can take out the enemy pretty good.

But the presuppositionalism can do that. But we're more of the, you know, bomb squad.

We're like, yeah, you can fight them up on the upper floor. I'll be in the basement putting C4 on the foundations. And once you're done sweating and bleeding and you are safely removed from the building,

I'll press the detonator and destroy the entire house, which will then defeat the whole purpose of you running into the house and getting into this hand to hand combat in the first place.

Okay. And that's not a lazy shortcut. It's smart and it's biblical. It's biblical to strike at the core of unbelief instead of endlessly fighting about these non central issues.
