I would go on Oprah's show and let her spit in my face if she'll hold up one of my books so that people will go and read what's in there because prayerfully they will encounter the gospel.

Oprah, your friend and favorite pastor T .D. Jakes gave you what he called a very special gift.

Before we go, I have a very special gift that I want to give to this little girl. You're going to try to break me down right now.

Seriously, seriously, it's from my heart to you. Jakes' gift to you contained nothing but praise and encouragement.

Dear Oprah, you have inspired an entire generation, informed us, exposed us, and challenged us.

You took us places that we would have never been able to go. But Oprah, if Jakes was a real pastor who knew and taught the true gospel of Jesus Christ, he would have given you a very different message, the one that you actually need to hear.

Paul says, I observed your culture, I observed your statues, and I observed your temples. Now what

I want to say to you is this, it's all wrong. God doesn't live in those places you built. God's not served by human hands.

He's not impressed with those statues that you built or those monuments that you built. Does this sound like somebody who showed up on Oprah trying to make her happy?

He didn't compromise to get there. He doesn't compromise while he is there. Jakes praised you for helping people become the highest expression of themselves.

You made us forfeit the dismal waters of mediocrity to experience the blissful wild of becoming the highest expression of ourselves.

But Jakes never called out the ways you defend the identity people have chosen for themselves over their true

God -given identity. The God I serve, the God I serve doesn't care whether you're tall or short, or whether you were born black or Asian or gay.

A true pastor would have told you the truth about homosexuality being a sin that sinners need to repent of.

Verse 24, the Lord reigned on Sodom and Gomorrah, brimstone and fire. From the Lord out of heaven, he overthrew those cities and all the valley and all the inhabitants of the cities.

And what grew on the ground destroyed the whole thing. That's an illustration of how God feels about a society that affirms homosexuality and people that conduct themselves this way.

Jakes contrasts his work in the sacred realm with your work in the secular realm.

While I challenged the sacred, you brought hope to the secular. Well, first, Jakes has actually failed in his job in the sacred realm.

You must understand that God is so into finances that the term that he uses to save you is called redemption.

Redemption is about money. Charismatic movement is twisted and torn and heretical in many ways.

They talk about their prosperity and they talk about their blessing and they talk about all these things and they've taken those words and twisted them.

And second, what Jakes left out is that there is really no hope in the secular realm without the true gospel of Jesus Christ, which neither of you really teach.

This is not about material wealth. This is about rescue and redemption.

This is about God in his providence orchestrating all of history in order to bring about that which we need more than anything else.

And that is to be rescued from God. Oprah, Jakes lavished praise upon you.

Who is a CEO? Absolutely. An acclaimed actress and producer? Without question. A savvy businesswoman?

That's indisputable. But Jakes didn't tell you what you really needed to hear. Listen to these words in the 10th chapter of Hebrews.

For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, that's the gospel, what is going to happen?

A terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.

Then Jakes brought in God. While we were watching this powerful woman every day,

God wasn't. While we were reading old magazines, God wasn't. What he was doing was watching over the little girl from Mississippi that lives inside that woman.

Okay, ugly cry. But what Jakes didn't tell you was that apart from repentance and faith alone in Christ alone, which you have not yet done, you are actually still an enemy of God, not a friend of God.

If that's your attitude, because you have no repentance. But if you came here this morning with all the wrong reasons and you sat here wondering when this was going to be over, but partway through this sermon, you knew that someone was dealing with your heart and you began to see the holiness of God like never before.

You begin to see your sin as never before. And your attitude towards that sin about which you once boasted has totally changed and you hate it and you're ashamed.

Sir, that is repentance. You can be saved. You lack one other thing, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jakes then tells you that God chose you and is protecting you.

He was holding that little girl up and letting her see that despite of all who forsook her, betrayed her and denied her, he chose her, called her.

He made her a promise to protect her under the pinions of his mighty wings. But Jakes never reminded you that there is only one path to God, something you clearly do not believe.

But there are millions of ways to be a human being. Then how do you please God? And many ways, no, but many paths to what you call

God. Jakes never told you that all whom God has chosen have been broken over their sin and look to the

Bible alone for the life -saving gospel of Jesus Christ. Brokenness is the place to which we come when we recognize that all that we are, all that we have and all that we do in and of ourselves is sorely and miserably insufficient.

God crushes us under the weight of our own sin. So, Oprah, I know you think

T .D. Jakes is your friend, but the hard truth is that he's lying to you. A true friend would have said this.

This God created you to be holy as he is holy, to live according to his righteous commands.

For the Bible doesn't simply say that God is holy or even that he's holy, holy, but that he is holy, holy, holy.

But we all have sinned, rebelling against our creator and his commands.

You're sinful. You're not right with God. You haven't pleased God. You've sinned against God in your attempt to honor him, even in your attempt to cover yourself in case there was a

God out there who's not one of these gods that you worship. You make this statue to an unknown God so that if the

God who you haven't named comes down among you, you can basically say, we didn't know you, but we made you one anyway.

He's here and he's not pleased. And because our sin is against the infinitely holy creator

God of the universe, our offense is infinite in seriousness and deserves hell.

Now imagine the naked majesty of God. No firewall, nothing standing between you and the fullness of deity.

And then you standing there naked, not just physically so, but every filthy rotten thing you've ever done is open before the fires of God's holiness.

But God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for sin once for all, so that sinners like you and me can be forgiven of sin and made righteous.

God laid upon him the iniquity of us all. And Christ died for sin once for all, the just for the unjust.

And God imputes our sinfulness to him. And he nails our sinfulness to the tree.

And Christ dies and raises again on the third day for our justification. But before that happens,

God's call to you is this, repent of your sin, your rebellion to the

God of the Bible, and put your faith in Jesus alone for your salvation. How do you get right with this

God? Repent, turn from your sin. So that God can be both just and the justifier of the one who places faith in Jesus Christ.

So that all those who come to Christ may enter in. So that all those who place faith in Christ might be saved.
